    The Borscht Mobile was at Outside Lands this year which I ate at often since it was the only food that wasn't outrageously overpriced. I really like borscht, it's a good filling meal that is healthy. I usually just stick to that here, but they do have a few other offerings like dumplings, pirozhki, and a burrito with buckwheat and potatoes. I didn't like the burrito so much though the aioli was good. I've had buckwheat before and thought it was decent, but I didn't like the taste in a burrito. I think some people might enjoy it if they are into fusion food and it seems healthier. They used to be at Spark Social a lot in Mission Bay before Covid but now it looks like they are mainly at the new park at the Presidio as well as Levi's Plaza.

    The Ukrainian food at Borsch was delicious. The chicken dumplings with onions and bacon was yummy. I will discover more of the menu at Borsch in the near future.

    I had heard about this food truck for awhile now and was very excited to try. We were unfortunately left very disappointed. They were at Tunnel Tops Park in SF along with several other food trucks. We ordered: 1) Chicken dumplings which came topped with sour cream & green onions. (This came in a small portion size for $13 which was probably more like appetizer sized than a meal. It also was slightly mushy and not very flavorful. Trader Joe use to sell a frozen pelmeni entree which tasted just as good at half the price and double the portion size. Hmm..) 2) - Pirozhki Baked buns (potato & mushroom filling) (The filling was predominantly potato and it was very dry. Some sauce might have helped or even more mushrooms.) 3) Beef brisket sandwich (This looked good, but unfortunately, the beef brisket was not seasoned so it was flavorless and the meat was also dry. Luckily, there was slaw included or the entire sandwich would have been very dry.) Disappointed that this did not live up to the hype.

    It was my first time trying borsch! I had no idea it was going to be SO pink!!! It was pretty yummy. Not something I would get often but definitely nice to try. Don't wear anything white while trying to eat it lol. Flavor wise- Not as sweet as I thought it was going to be. With the sour cream it became a sweet savory type of soup and I quite liked it. I also got chicken pellmini dumplings and it came with mushrooms, bacon, green onions, all on top of the white sauce. It was pretty good! Like pasta but the dumplings were more filling. I also got a mushroom piroshky and it was yummy. The owner was really nice and gave me a russian candy with my order. It was like a chocolate wafer thing. Also very yummy! :))) I really enjoyed the food from this food truck. And it was really nice to see this Russian food in the mix for some of the recent Off the Grid events in Foster city. They also have a really nice eye catching design on their truck.

    I'm always willing to try food from anywhere, especially one of the old countries, but I just felt this truck was okay. I was the Foodeaze truck court on second and while I had heard Borsch Mobile, I had never tried it. I like Pelmeni, so figured I'd give it a shot over some of my regulars. What probably caught my eye the most was the neon green tarragon soda. I mean, for curiosities sake, you have to give it a shot. It was okay, definitely tasted like carbonated tarragon. I did enjoy pulling out the Google Translate on the bottle. As for the Pelmeni, I fear they put way too much sour cream on it. The dumplings were good, but next time I'd ask for the sour cream on the side. The potatoes were fine, they're potatoes. Same with the cabbage slaw. Yeah, nothing really blew me away. Not saying I wouldn't give this truck another try, but would try something different, and do definitely recommend giving it a try. It is different, nice people. Maybe Korean burritos and Hawaiian plates have spoiled me.

    Eastern European food is a bit underrepresented in San Francisco, definitely so in the food truck community. With popular trend of making every fusion permutation possible with a taco or burrito, it's nice to see some classics being served. Overall, pretty hearty food for the portion size. Borsch: Had to try the eponymous dish. It was perfect for a chilly (by San Francisco standards) lunch outside. It was a tad chunkier than borsch I'm used to, but I liked it. The veggies were mostly matchstick sized, so it wasn't overwhelming. Only gripe was that they were skimpy on the sour cream. Siberian Pelmeni: I'm more of a pierogi guy, but the pelmeni is growing on me. It's got the meaty density of a Chinese dumpling, but with spices that are distinctly Eastern European. That would be dill and a whole lot of sour cream. Very rich, also another great lunch option on a chilly-ish day. Mixed Berries Mors: Not quite fruit juice. More like chilled fruit broth or tea. The boiling of fruit and sugar infuses a very deep taste, that isn't found just mixing juice, water and sugar together cold.

    Mediocre Eastern European food. We tried the stuffed bell pepper combination plate ($13) and chose the salad and sour cabbage as our 2 sides. The sides were decent, but the stuffed pepper was just layers of nondescript mush. My boyfriend's mom makes these amazing stuffed peppers so these paled in comparison and we did not finish all of it. Came with a free piece chocolate with little bears! Tastes like a Kit Kat!

    Russian restaurants are quite rare, but a Russian Food Truck? That's an anomaly. This is probably the most refreshing food truck experience I've had in a while. You know what to expect on the menu for most food trucks, gimmicky fusion cuisine with your choice of meat on top of fries, rice, or wrapped in a tortilla. We've seen it all before. Borsch has no gimmicks of that sort. Just delicious food that won't weigh you down and make you regret having it on a workday. I had the Beef Tongue Sandwich with roasted potatoes and a salad on the side. Fresh ciabatta, holding beef tongue that proves again why it's probably the best cut to put in a sandwich. The potatoes are done the right way beside a salad that's not just dressed up lettuce. A piece of chocolate given to you as a token of their generosity. How could you not want to come back again?

    When I saw a Russian food truck near me, I just had to check it out. I'm exceedingly glad that I did. I ordered the beef stroganoff, which comes with Russian-style slaw and sliced pickles. Served over buckwheat, the stroganoff was excellent: great flavor and texture, and a perfect portion for me. The buckwheat was a nice change from noodles and added to the aforementioned texture without weighing the already hearty dish down. The slaw and the pickles each provided a nice palate-cleansing counterpoint between bites. The slaw was made of crunchy cabbage accentuated with some carrots, tossed in a light dressing with a hint of black pepper. Whereas some slaw can be overwhelmed with vinegar, this was subtle and begged to be tasted again. The pickles were fantastic: sour, but not too sour, and almost spicy, yet not. They packed a solid punch and were everything I have ever wanted a dill pickle to be. The Russian candy was a nice touch, as well. I can't wait until they are near me again and I can try more of their cooking.

    I think about 3 of these stars are just for being Eastern European food honestly, you don't see that a lot. The pelmeni was great! The sour cream coating made it perfect and it was nice to have the sides. The borsch was alright, but i think maybe it's just not my taste. I agree with another reviewer that they really could give you more sour cream for it. Service was quick and friendly. Note: their menu was different than the one online. Was looking forward to the salo mini sandwiches but no joy.

Our server did not give us a breakdown of any dish, or even the categories on the menu (which by the way, are in Russian). They kinda expected us to "know" everything on the menu. My wife and I ended up googling EVERYTHING, and deciding on what to eat after reading other yelp reviews and what the dishes looked like. After taking a good 10mins of googling and figuring out what to order, we had to raise our hand several times, to a point where we had to call our waiter over vocally and with a hand wave to take our order. The restaurant really isn't big with only 2 other tables being occupied, and I guess locals do come here often and chat with the servers, but we're talking a good extra 5min of not looking at a menu and just waiting. People are raving about the service but I personally just didn't experience the same kind of hospitality. We ordered a borsch, a beef stroganoff, and a viennese schnitzel. I wouldn't say the food came out slow, but it was at the pace of a homecooked meal. The borsh tasted a lot better than ones I've had, and the sour cream was very creamy and fresh. The beef stroganoff was the star of the show with how flavorful and creamy it was. The beef was very tender, and the kasha was especially good. It's definitely enough to fill one person up. The viennese schnitzel is basically a fried pork cutlet (like a katsu) but with different seasonings and paired with some kind of red sauce. The mashed potatoes...were just mashed potatoes. The portion felt a little small for the price for what you get, pork cutlet and mashed potatoes being $27. I can see how authentic this place is, but being tucked so far away in Richmond naturally gets it lower foot traffic than other more accessible spots. The food is delicious and if people are willing to take their grandparents here, then you know it's authentic. I just wish the service was more attentive. The portions to price ratio was also pretty low, and I left feeling a little hungry despite spending $75 before tax and tip for 2. This place is feels more geared to reminiscing a childhood flavor with the family over a date night IMO.

Growing up the Piroshki was all around the corner liquor stores in San Francisco especially in the Mission District ( a whole different Cinderella story). The piroshki would be a fast microwaved treat to have during lunch and after school. Over the years I have been very selective when picking up a piroshki from a corner store because they can be very doughy. There is one bakery in San Francisco which has been making a variety of piroshkis for over 70 years. This Russian bakery has both the savory and the sweet . It's located on Balboa street and it's called Cinderella. On a Spring stroll I landed at Cinderella. Inside you can see and smell the delicious bake goods which can be sweet and some salty like some in SF. On the sweet side I enjoy their honey cake but no donuts . On the savory side it's the piroshkis. My favorite is the beef and cheddar piroshki. It wasn't too cheesy like some in SF but the beef was tender and it almost tastes like a smashed burger ( not to be confused with smash burger) all in a soft bun. The are other interesting items on the menu like Pelmeni which are Russian dumplings and Siberian Pie. You can wash it all down with a Matcha Latte ( for Don Juan de la Matcha) or the Kompot drink. There is a planned expansion to the Mission District in with a location at 2937 24th street. This will be a good Cinderella story for all of San Francisco. Go to a place which has a good piroshki "supply" these piroshki buns get baked and some they do "fry" they have other baked goods and food you can "try" like their Grilled Salmon salad and the Cherry Vareniki the Russian Dumpling which has sour cream & sour cherries or the "Siberian Pie" So go on a stroll to "Cinderella" which is the place when it comes to piroshki and baked goods because they got "hella" tasty variations like the Blinchiki with Caviar with more than a bump and you also have one made with it "Nutella" and this bakery sings to me like a Broadway " A capella"

The service was intimate. We had the host, bartender, and server checking up on us frequently. To be fair we had the place to ourselves the first half of dinner (around opening 5pm, then people started crowding in around 6). A tip for this restaurant is to get the inkind rewards app to get $50 toward your next $150+ visit or you can also use the blackbird app here as well.

Seeing the other reviews which share his odd, and even racist and rude statements definitely tracks. TLDR: Yummy sausages but unreliable customer service from the clerk.

The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a place like this as it is lively but not loud, cozy but not cramped, and always buzzing with good energy, from the staff through to most of the patrons on any given night. The menu is a greatest-hits tour of German comfort food. The deviled eggs are a must to start your meal and the wienerschnitzel is my personal go‑to as it is crispy, moist, and so flavorful every time I've had it. The jägerschnitzel is another standout if you are feeling something a little lighter and saucier as it rich and savory in all the right ways, and the sausages are always banging and perfect alongside a big stein of beer. It's the kind of food that feels made for long conversations and slow sipping. What really elevates Suppenküche, though, is the people. The staff are super friendly and clearly know their stuff, always ready with a beer recommendation or a menu suggestion and the patrons tend to match that vibe; if you end up at the bar or sharing a table, which is pretty common if you come with a small group, you're likely to find yourself chatting with someone new before long. There's honestly no better way to make new friends in SF than bonding over schnitzel and a great German beer at Suppenküche.
