Very cute Georgian restaurant thats serves delicious homemade food. This was the perfect pitstop for wine tasting with lovely, filling and fresh dishes. Recommend the salad, dumplings, soko and kebabs. The service was great as well.

Khinkali (spiced lamb in back, crab in front).

The ambiance inside is cozy and comforting (wooden tables and dark interior lined with clay jugs and wine bottles), while the food and wine are unique and interesting. First time trying Georgian fare and I must say their khinkali dumplings, particularly the crab and adjika butter, were simply divine. A squeeze of lemon and dollop of the adjika sauce (fermented chili sauce) enhanced the light and subtle taste of crab in the soft dumpling wrapper with a complexity of flavors. The khachapuri stuffed with melted cheese and herbs was savory and also paired deliciously with the adjika sauce. The chvistari & lobio (crispy cheese filled cakes & bean stew) was nice because of the unusual flavor of the beans. Maybe we liked it a little less than the other dishes because we couldn't use the adjika sauce on it. (BTW, they do sell the sauce in jars to take home in case you can't get enough.) We didn't like our dessert of the pistachio honey cake as much because we found it a bit dry, although the pistachios were nicely crunchy. We enjoyed the Kazbegi iced tea and the robustness of the rose wine (chinuri shavkapito) with our meal Wonderful place to travel with your tastebuds!

I was excited to find out there was a Georgian restaurant near my friends while visiting them, so I recommended we stop in to try during happy hours (3 to 5 and 9 to closing). The Georgian cuisine was presented and made well. It's a cozy, rustic chic feel for indoor dining and decor. Everything we tried was tasty and hearty: khilkhani: meat or veggie dumplings, olives and pickled garlic, Pkhlovani: khachpuri bread stuffed with cheese, greens and herbs, Chvistari & lobio: masa cheese cakes and bean stew, kebabi: grilled skewers of beef and lamb, shashlik: grilled skewers of chicken marinated in pomegranate. The Georgian wine we tried seems to be more fruity and sweet in general but went well with the grilled meats we ordered.

Something sweet - pistachio honey cake with tangerine glaze

Wonderful experience. Had the crab dumplings (Khinkali), pie stuffed with cheese/greens/herbs (Pkhlovani), beef and lamb skewers with sumac yogurt sauce (Kebabi), and the pistachio honey cake for dessert. Lots of options for those who don't eat meat. They have a few beers available and a wine list that showcases Georgian wines. I had the red wine flight which was super interesting and I'll try the white wine flight next visit. Real high quality wines that expose you to a world outside of local producers. Service was great and there are 7 tables inside (one is really big) and bar seating. By the time we left, every table was full! Chill vibe and a cool addition to the local restaurant scene. A must try.

Lamb stew - full of flavor

Absolutely love this new restaurant in Sebastopol. The wine is unique and excellent, and the dishes are to die for. And the prices are very reasonable. I'm going to butcher the Georgian names, so I'll just describe the dishes in English. We first ordered the appetizer small balls. We've had these in other Georgian restaurants, but these were much more full of flavor. They also came with micro greens. The highlight of the meal was the mushroom sauté dish, which had locally harvested mushrooms and tasted incredibly fresh, combined with some herbs and spices. Then there was the lamb and chickpea stew, and the spinach and cheese pie. Both were very very flavorful. The desert was a tea cake with fresh whipped cream and mint and walnuts, everything tasted very fresh. I would definitely return here, and look forward to it.

Bean soup - eh just ok

Looked on Yelp and thought - eh ok, not many choices on the menu. Drove up and thought - eh, located in small strip mall. These are all red flags for my - I was actually blown away by this place. I love trying different regions cuisine and this puts a check mark on Georgia - located in the South Caucus region of Eastern Europe. Two weeks ago they did not take reservations so we got there a little early (PRO TIP: they now take reservations and you should make them). We were able to get a seat - really tight seating on the small tables against the wall, you will definitely be on the back of your neighbor. Cool homey interior with a Retail Wine Sales room. We started out with the small eggplant rolls - wow! Amazing! The flavors burst on your mouth - one of my favorite dishes. Next were the dumplings - wow amazing (PRO TIP: put some of the red sauce on the table on them - super good with a little kick). I tried the bean soup - a little flavorless but the dumplings are really good. Mushrooms were amazing. Both deserts are great. I definitely put this on my list to come back to - see you soon Piala!

Trout. My friend Ashley ordered it, we all tried a bite and agreed it was the best trout we ever had!

I went here with a group of my friends to celebrate my birthday. I'm very familiar with Georgian Cuisine and visited Georgia several times, so I had high expectations and was not disappointed. All of my 7 friends were really impressed! We had vegetarian friends and meat lovers with us and they had plenty of options for everyone. We had such a wonderful time, chef himself recommended wine for us (we loved all their wines) and brought every single meal to us personally. In the end he made my day, by sharing a a very special drink! Such cozy restaurant has a special family vibe! It was super packed but Autumn did such a great job serving us. My friends said that they did not mind 20% included gratuity, but they wanted to leave more, because she was amazing! We will be coming back 100%!!!

We arrived in Sebastopol late and found Piala when we were looking for places that would be open past 9. We are SO glad we did! We had an incredible time. From the amazing food to wonderful conversation with the very friendly and generous owner to the awesome playlist. It was a meal we will remember! (See the delicious pistachio honey cake I enjoyed for dessert). Run don't walk!

Is there really smoking allowed in the restaurant?

    Absolutely not!

Can I bring my friendly well-trained dog?

Since there is no outdoor seating area, I don't think you can bring your dog according to California law. You shouldn't let that stop you from going though - the food & service are fabulous!

It's inviting vs the stuffy atmosphere some places have. BABAGANOUSH PITA we got it for the kiddo expecting it to be run of the mill stuff you get. But the babaganoush had the extreme rich flavors of smoked eggplant and felt like almost half an eggplant went in there. Not diluted with tahini, garlic, just pure flavors of eggplant with tanginess of sumac. LITTLE GEM SALAD WITH RAINBOW TROUT was hearty, leafy and very refreshing. The pickled celery was the surprise. HAMACHI CRUDO - beautifully assembled with thoughtfulness, light, refreshing. A bunch of flavor bombs in there so each bite is an adventure. Basil making it refreshing, earthy crunch from hazelnut, sharpness from green onion, sweet tart kiwis. I think a bit of citrus would make this a superstar. Mandolin shaved limes perhaps? GRILLED MAITAKE MUSHROOMS - ok I think this was the chefs most technically impressive dish, with an exercise in playing with bitter profiles and turning it into a master piece. Grilled maitake gets the char from the grill is the first flavor layer, it's woken up by the wild thyme from the zatar. Next the Japanese turnips bring the second dimension with earthy beautiful bitter notes on a bed of a creamy tahini based sauce. It's finished with fresh parsley to bring a fresh element to it. Great stuff. Could raddichio be added to make this more challenging? I saw those crunchy POTATOES and I got them even after eating the meal lol. Do yourself a favor and just get them - they're hot, crunchy and perfect to pair with the vegetables. Finally we got their chocolate mousse with bruleéd bananas sorry couldn't take a picture before it was all gone. Great way to wrap. The staff were all super friendly and helped with picking things from the menu! I got the mystery glass of wine and they had made a fun game out of it. The Beaujolais was great too. Overall when you're surrounded by these amazing farms, vineyards and ocean - no better way than to bring them together - kudos to the creators of the Redwood for making this place with intentionality. I wanted to get the squash, duck pâté, spring pea salad, tinned fish items as well, I guess for next time!

Although the flavor profile on the salmon with citrus and saffron was not to my taste it was expertly prepared. All that said we received some of the most neglectful service I have ever had from a very nice server, who for no obvious reason left us alone for most of the meal. It got busier as our time stretched on, but it wasn't slammed and there was plenty of staff. We ordered plenty of food including two bottles of wine. We had to completely finish all of our appetizers before being asked about mains and we sat with empty glasses for ~20 minutes (possibly more) before we flagged someone down to get the second bottle; a bottle we left half drunk because it stretched our evening so long. I might give this place another try but honestly it was one of the most drawn out anticlimactic $400+ birthday celebrations (without desert) I have ever had. We could have done better at home for less.

Typically I make reservations at dog friendly restaurants there's a check box to inform the staff if there's a dog. There was none. Letting us know he needed to ''get creative' with our reservations because we didn't specify we had a dog, then making a big show of add an extra chair to their patio to accommodate all of us to scolding us to 'leave a note next time' was all unprofessional. In 2024 we received a shipment of wine where all the wine in the shipment was broken. In typical situations, wineries offer replacement of broken bottles, but Fog Crest was impossible to reach in spite of (literally) 50 phone calls and emails. Since I couldn't reach them, I canceled my subscription to their wine club. Flash forward a few months, they charge me another ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but never ship me any wine (in spite of the fact that I had already canceled online). Again, dozens of calls and emails, no answer and no response. Still trying. A few months after that, they charge me ANOTHER ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but don't ship that wine to me either. After probably 100 calls and emails, I finally talk to the wine club coordinator on the phone. She of course acknowledges my dozens of messages, and acknowledges my situation. She says she will replace the wine that was broken and figure out why they've been charging me for wine I haven't been receiving and make it right. But that she can't talk right now and she'd call me back with more information. That was a month ago. I've now called again dozens of times, and emailed. No response. Called and emailed the owner, no response. This is borderline criminal: $1,500 in charges for undelivered product, a non-existent customer service experience, and an online system so archaic that it doesn't process your cancelation and continues to charge you for product.

Zero Accountability and Terrible Customer Service - Avoid Fog Crest!…read more I'm absolutely appalled by my experience with Fog Crest Winery. We joined their wine club in 2023 and was charged $420 all of 2024/25 for wine that they NEVER shipped. When I called to inquire about where the wine was, I was met with complete silence--multiple calls and messages went unanswered. After finally getting a call back, the person said they only called me back because "she saw we had called a lot in one day." That was the first red flag. She promised to credit my account and look into another charge that had been applied. It's been SEVEN days since that conversation, and STILL no credit, no updates, and no resolution. I've followed up with multiple calls, messages, and emails... NOTHING. At this point, it's clear that they don't care about their customers. I highly recommend staying far away from Fog Crest if you value your time and money. Total waste of both
