My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner at Aicha, it is definitely a hole in the wall restaurant that could be easily missed. We shared the lamb couscous, chicken tangine and it was more than enough for two very hungry adults. Highly recommend the lamb couscous, it was delicious. My boyfriend liked the chicken but it was wayyyy too salty for me. I personally could not eat more than a few bites of it. I only ever tried Moroccan Cuisine once in HK years ago and had loved it. So when I found Aicha Moroccan Cuisine, decided to give it a try. Maybe it's the dish I tried, but sad to say the taste just isn't for me nor my husband. We tried their Kefta Tagine (huge portion, not much flavor to us, barely ate half of it), Chicken Bastilla and Mix Moroccan Sweets (honestly their Chebakia might have been the only thing I liked and would consider reordering here). We were in town to visit. My family was in the mood for Moroccan cuisine. Specifically looking for bastilla. We walked in and were seated. We ordered a chicken bastilla and a veggie bastilla to start. For the meal we got a chicken tagine,a lamb kebab,and a veggie couscous. The bastilla was nicely seasoned ,I really liked the sweet and savory taste. It has a dusting of powder sugar and cinnamon on top. The chicken tagine was fall off the bone tender. The couscous portion was big enough for 2 people. The kabob was ok. It could have used more salt. My only negative was the bastilla, I'm pretty sure that they microwaved it to heat it up and finished it up in the broiler.(I understand as I worked in a restaurant. Sometimes to save time you pre make items. I just wanted it to be warmed longer and kept under the broiler longer. Mine was a little cold in spots) read more

Came here on a Friday night with a friend. It wasn't super busy, which meant service was fairly quick. Salad trio: I liked this as a tasting! And the bread that went with it was quite good too. Lamb tagine with almond and prunes: the lamb literally fell off the bone as started to cut with a fork. This was unbelievably good. Beef kebab maghdour: this is a new dish. Full of flavor and so good. The beef was definitely tougher than the lamb tagine, but still very good. Cinnamon couscous: yuuum. Wow I just had the best bread here and it turns out I am not the only one, according to the above list of most popular dishes. Last night I actually ordered the Zaalook (eggplant dish ) with a side of saffron rice with olives, but after I was done I looked in my take out bag and found a piece of bread-not just any bread most definitely the best bread I have ever had in my life. I love Moroccan cuisine and this neighborhood spot in San Francisco is the perfect casual spot to open the doors to Moroccan food. I have been going to Aicha for the past few years and some of the other Moroccan restaurants in San Francisco offer belly dancing and music and a more pricier menu. Aicha is a good introduction to Moroccan cuisine. My friends and I ordered the chicken kebabs, the lamb tagine, kefta tagine and the fabulous chicken bastilla. The lambs were tender and came with a really good sauce as well as the kefta tagine which is beef and lamb meatballs. The kefta sauce goes very well with the riceband bread. The chicken bastilla is one of my favorite appetizers and it's a meat pie with combination of sweet and savory flavors that is topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon. The letdown though was the chicken kebabs which were pretty hard and dry. I've had it before in the past and it's normally tender but last night, it was pretty dry. Service is normal and they are very short staffed, so it's just one guy pretty much doing all of the work, so be prepared to be patient, but be prepared to enjoy amazing food as well. We started with the Salad Trio, a platter of zaalook (grilled mashed eggplant), taktouka (spicy grilled bell peppers and tomatoes), and carrots a la charmoula (pickled carrots with lemon vinaigrette and olive oil). The eggplant and bell peppers were served warm, while the soft carrots were served cold, and everything went nicely with the round of crusty, soft Moroccan bread that came on the side. Next, we had the Seafood Bastilla, a phyllo pastry pie with a filling of vermicelli noodles and mixed seafood including shrimp, calamari, and fish. The flaky phyllo dough was topped with a crispy layer of cheese on top and served with a spicy chili sauce on the side, and while the bastilla was tasty, I simply wished that there was more seafood in the filling. For our main dishes, the "Royal" kebab came with a variety of grilled meats, including chicken kebab, lamb kebab, beef sirloin kebab, kefta (ground meat) kebab, and merguez (lamb sausage), and each of the meats was juicy and perfectly seasoned. But my favorite dish of all was the Lamb Tagine with Prunes & Almonds. This was a stew containing a whole lamb shank (with super tender meat) cooked with caramelized onions and prunes and topped with almonds and sesame seeds. The tagine was pure deliciousness and combined the sweetness of the dried fruit and caramelized onions with the earthy crunch of the almonds and sesame seeds with the heartiness of the meat. The stew was perfect for eating with Moroccan bread on the side, and the flavors brought me right back to Marrakesh! I came here for the chicken bastilla, but ended up enjoying another dish way more: the chicken couscous with raisins and onions. So good! The sweet and saltiness of it worked very well together. The dish was topped with sliced half cooked egg and dates which added to its goodness. The chicken bastilla (sweet chicken pastry) had scrambled egg in it which I didn't love and it was slightly burnt on the bottom. It was good in general though. Randomly found this little restaurant while walking around the city and decided to check it out for dinner. The place wasn't packed so we had chosen a nice corner booth table. The server promptly gave us the menus and we decided on our orders after he answered our questions. To start, we shared the artichoke salad. It was decent-sized and had good portions of feta, artichokes, carrots, olives, and grape tomatoes. It tasted fresh and had a nice flavor combination. For our entrees, I had the chicken bastilla and hubby had the lamb tagine. The chicken bastilla was very tasty (better than the one I had in another Moroccan restaurant). It was packed with meat and other ingredients. The phyllo dough was delightful as well. The lamb tagine was tender and flavor-packed. Service though can be improved. There was only one server working the tables and spent most of time inside the kitchen than serving patrons. Not sure if he was helping out inside or not. This is the best couscous I've had in the States. It's better than the couscous I've had in Morocco. The kefta is possibly the best kefta I have ever had. It's saturated in flavor, they must marinate it for hours. And they grill some sausage that's also really amazing. The tri-salad is awesome also. I could have just eaten that tri-salad by itself. Amazing food. Opened a new world for me. I've never had Moroccan food before and I just came across this restaurant's UberEats page and the pictures of the dishes all looked very appetizing, so I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did. The lamb in the lamb shank tagine i ordered was so soft and tender and moist, fell right off the bone, fulled of flavors and yet you can still taste and feel the strong and unique aroma of lamb. I'm obsessed. I feel like I haven't tasted what lamb tasted like for so long. I really like the peas and carrots too as they were also super soft and flavorful. The complimentary bread that it comes with was delicious too, it has a nice chewy texture on the outside and super soft and airy on the inside, which made it perfect for sucking up the juices from the lamb shank tagine. I ordered the chicken couscous! As a Moroccan I'm very picky when it comes to Moroccan food. This place did miss the mark for me u fortunately! Couscous was blend needed flavors / spices , the veggies were over cooked and did not taste fresh. The food god me bit sick after eating it to be honest and that happens when I eat food that is not fresh and has been warmed up.
