    Falafel plate
    James H.

Pretty average food here. I got the falafel plate that came with 4 falafels, rice, salad, salad and pita bread with 4 different sauces. For $15.95, you definitely get a lot of food. But the falafels were very dry and needed a lot of sauce to eat them. The food came out within minutes. Service was nice.

Pretty good for the price. For around $20 you can get a combo plate that comes with beef/lamb, chicken, rice, salad, hummus, fries, and pita. The first bite of beef/lamb was incredible. Nice and fatty and flavorful, but once the meat cools down it becomes rather dry and salty. I was not a fan of the chicken. It reminded me of luncheon meat. It didn't taste like chicken nor feel like it. The best parts of the meal ended up being the fries, hummus, salad, and rice. The fries remained crispy throughout the whole meal, even when covered in sauce. And the blandness and freshness from the rice and salad were a welcome reprieve from the dry and salty meat towards the end of the meal. I would go again for the fries, salad, and hummus. Probably not worth it to get a combo plate since it's an extra $4 for the same amount of meat, just stick to the lamb/beef if you really want to try.

Super nice staff. First time here at Spark Social after missing my rowing class across the street. Seriously who locks their doors before class starts with lights off and leaves just their dog roaming in the lobby? Ordered at the tablet but I also see some people paying with tickets, not sure where they bought the tickets and whether it is a better deal. Got the combo plate $18 which is a great deal for a huge amount of food -soft pita, well-seasoned chicken and beef shavings, salad, fluffy rice, and plump fries plus a side of hummus. Everything was so good and satisfied my halal craving. If it is not so difficult to get to this part of town, I'd be back on the regular.

Considering how many times I've been to Spark Social over the years, even I have to admit I'm kind of surprised it's taken me this long to finally come here. Not to say that they've been here all of those times nor have I not been curious about them. It's just that with so many trucks there these days, I've always found the need to hit up one of the visiting options knowing that Gyros on Wheel is one of the permanent vendors! Across each of the times I've passed by them, I've almost always ended up standing in front of Gyros on Wheels and debating whether to finally try them out. It's hard not to, once you stop and look at the menu - not only do all the photos of their food look good, but just about everything they have sounds so appealing! Hummus, falafels, dolmas, salads, sandwiches/wraps, fries, plates/bowls, baklava, and even loukoumades (Greek donuts)! -- HUMMUS FALAFEL PLATE - Hummus, Falafel, Tzatziki, and Pita Bread...$11 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/gyros-on-wheels-san-francisco-2?select=BqEo88UlYTCuTsEvyCojMA) Based on the photo/menu, this seemed a bit pricey for just three falafels and hummus, but you actually get a lot. There's a good amount of pita bread and hummus, which was smooth and flavorful, and the falafel was both crispy and delicious. -- GYRO SANDWICH - Lamb & Beef Gyro, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Tzatziki Sauce, Pita Bread, and French Fries...$13.75 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/gyros-on-wheels-san-francisco-2?select=R01QUNP9mwolfw5B_-kDuw) First and foremost, this was way bigger than I had expected! The veggies were fresh and the pita was soft, but the gyro left me conflicted. While it was juicy and tasty, it was also really salty. The tzatziki was also a little funky, but I loved the fries (crispy and well seasoned). As far as service goes, it was fine, though I wouldn't say it was great. The worker at the window seemed nice enough and was happy to take our order, but it seemed to take a while for the food to come out. Not that I had a problem with waiting, but it was hard not to notice when there was no one else around and neighboring trucks seemed to be churning out orders so much faster by comparison. If I could, THREE AND A HALF STARS would be about right, but rounded down. There's a decent chance I'll be back again at some point and I could end up changing this, but hard to give it a four now given how salty the gyro was.

I came here and got the falafel wrap which came with fries. Spark Social has a large number of options but I was looking for something not too unhealthy, not too overpriced, and satisfying. Gyros on Wheels gave me exactly what I was looking for! The meal came out to about $14 and tasted very fresh and filling. The person who took my order was super nice and it only took about 10 minutes for my food to be ready. The crinkle cut fries were perfectly salted and crispy. The falafel was flavorful and the vegetables were very fresh. I will definitely come back here next time I am at Spark Social!

Gave you a lot for the $. More of a box rice pilaf than Mediterranean rice. Pita was hot and they gave a lot of gyro meat which was flavorful. Lady was nice and explained differences to us. Ate at the community benches which had a lot of dogs around. Overall, not a bad meal but more suited for indoors to keep food hot.

Checked this place out at spark social. I think this place is ok. Service is quick. Food is ok. The pita bread was definitely burnt in my opinion. The fries were over cookies. The rice and the beef was good. Not sure if food should be this black but to me it's burnt. But I prefer a little less black pita bread.

Located in the heart of Spark Social, Gyros on Wheels is one of the best food trucks to order food from. I ordered their Gyro Plate, and the portions were so large it surprised me. The Gyro Plate came with meat, rice, french fries, salad, flatbread, and their tzatziki sauce. The meat and rice was flavorful. The french fries were very crispy, while the salad added a refreshing bite. Their sauce was delicious, and I found myself dipping everything into it. To top it off, the service was nice and quick. If you are in Mission Bay, do yourself a favor a stop by Gyros on Wheels at Spark Social!

Their falafel is SOOOO good. Crispy and fresh.

I'm so in love with this gyro truck. I drive to spark social just for this. The falafels are crispy and fresh and so are the fries. They pack their gyros with meat and veggies and they're super super nice. I tend to ask for a meat/ falafel combo because I love both and they usually give it to me. SUPER recommend this place! If you don't know where to eat at spark social - eat here you will not be disappointed.

Gyros on Wheels is one of the few food trucks at Spark Social that is actually worth it to get food at. My bf and I bought takeout from them last night. There was one guy working. He's friendly and fast! We ordered the gyro plate. We watched him add all the ingredients into our takeout boxes and were surprised to see how much he kept stacking onto it. From the sauces to the fries to the meats, everything was delicious. For about $15 per place, this is worth it. Definitely coming back.

I booked our table about a month in advance, which turned out to be the right move because the restaurant was bustling during the lunch hour. To start, we ordered four small plates to share among our party of four: meatballs, saganaki, spanakotiropita, and a pair of dips (melitzanosolata and favasalata) with pita. Everything was excellent, and our spread was inclusive of a wide variety of flavors and textures: salty, creamy, acidic, sweet, crunchy. The meatballs and the dips are definitely a must-order and are ideal for sharing. The spanakotiropita were larger and more filling than expected, so if I were to order those again, I'd dial it back and stick with small plates rather than a full-sized entree. The saganaki was a showstopper; it is served sizzling and crackling on a cast iron dish and had a nice salty flavor that allowed the cheese to be served on its own. For my main dish, I ordered the braised goat - which is not something I'd typically order because goat meat is usually tough - but I was intrigued how it was prepared as a stew. The dish almost reminded me of a Moroccan tagine - the goat was braised to peak tenderness and bathed in a slightly fruity and well-spiced sauce; dotted with pieces of melted feta; and served on top of a bed of baked orzo, which was served fresh-from-the oven in a mini cast iron dish. I was so full after our meal that I had to walk it off for a few blocks, but I cannot wait for our next special occasion so we can come back and celebrate with another feast at Kokkari Estiatorio.

Yes, it's a somewhat expensive dining experience but you are paying for top notch service and great quality food. I am not talking about these cheap midnight specials in Las Vegas. This is type of food where you take your time eating to savor your food to taste the silky texture of the meat or let the sauce soak into the octopus appetizer to soften it and tastes good. I would have ordered a salad but with the health scare of salads recall made me hesitant to order any, although the specials sounded great! You can still cannot go wrong as every dish was great experience and great execution. Love the melted cheeses in appetizer and custard in dessert with pistachio ice cream! The meats really shined as we asked for medium rare and both steak and lamb chops cooked perfectly. Would I go back? , oh yeah and splurge on this place for sure. It just felt special to me. The service apparently called out sick. Let's start with the good news: the food was genuinely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The mint lemonade was bright and refreshing. The chicken skewers were flavorful and perfectly cooked (though surprisingly small). The halumi salad with eggplant was a generous portion. Now for the "Mooore" part. I was hoping the restaurant's name was also a mission statement. However, we could have used more attentive service. More follow-through. More toilet paper... Unfortunately, once we were seated, we were essentially released into the wild. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code, which is perfectly fine in theory. In practice, it felt like sending requests into the void. A drink I ordered never appeared. Nobody checked on the table, so I had to get up and walk to the counter to ask about it. Later, I had to make another trip to remind them we had ordered dessert. Then another trip when we wanted a to-go box. Apparently, the evening's theme was "interactive dining," where the guests perform most of the customer service duties themselves. Tips are forced when you first order online - no refunds on that. The bathroom offered its own adventure. The trash bin was overflowing with dirty paper towels, and there was little to no toilet paper available. As the daughter of a health inspector, knowing that staff use the same facility, I would have given this a poor hygiene grade. What made the experience frustrating was that the food was good enough to make you want to come back. But when your guests spend half the meal looking for someone to help them, it takes away from what could have been a 'more' pleasant evening.

Thoughts going through my head "how can this taste so good," "I wasn't expecting this tonight," "this is the most tender gyro meat I've ever had," "how nicely this sauce pairs with the rice." Service was so friendly. Walked in for Friday dinner cus it's try a new restaurant night. Surprised it was empty. They got quite a bit of takeout orders but no one eating in there. Only the workers in there. Was greeted immediately with a smile. Wasn't sure if I had to order then seat myself or politely ask to get a table first. Sometimes it's confusing at some places, I didn't want to be weird. Asked for a table then server brought menus to us. As a takeout place, Gyros and Tzatziki normally gets four stars, but as a restaurant, it's definitely three stars, and I'll tell you why. This place needs better management. Failing that, one of the three guys who is normally working when I come needs to take charge, because the current setup isn't working. You order at the counter, which is common at many San Francisco restaurants. One of the three guys will help you, but sometimes, one of them is just sitting or standing a few feet away from the cash register, but he won't acknowledge your presence. It's as if only people who will actually take your order are allowed to speak to you. Once you do (eventually) place your order, you're in for a wait. If you're eating in, that's all right, because the food is definitely worth the wait, and the small seating area is normally comfortable. If you're taking it to go, however, they refuse to say anything about where to be while waiting. I normally just sit down at an empty table because I know it will be awhile, but when I stand, I always feel like I'm in someone's way. When they're busy, not only does your food take forever to come out, but the service just goes out the window. Again, only three guys working, including the chef, but why does one of the remaining two guys always seem to be so stand-around-looking-dumb lazy? And the funny part is that it's not always the same guy; the one I used to think was a hard worker was sitting in a chair near the back last time I came. It was like he was in a timeout; he wasn't looking at his phone, just yelling random things to the cook occasionally while the other poor guy had to deal with four different parties eating in, plus all the to-go orders. So order it to go before you arrive. Or sit down and try to figure out what's going on.

My friend and I got the fattoush salad to share along with the Chicken Shish Tawook plate and Musakhan for entrees. The salad was a nice fresh start and the charred dates added a nice sweetness. Loved the juicy chicken kebobs with a side of their delicious hummus. The musakhan had to be my favorite bite though, the chicken is so tender and flavorful and goes really well with the toasted pita. I would come back just for this dish alone! It's a counter-order restaurant which i didn't expect but it makes it a super quick sit-down restaurant to stop at and I loved sitting on their outdoor patio considering it was a nice sunny SF Sunday!

I ordered the chicken and beef kabob plate, and while the meat was flavorful, I wish they included more hummus. At around $25- $30 per plate, I expected a more generous portion. I ordered takeout and arrived about an hour later because the app never updated to show my order was ready. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and they didn't start preparing my food until I got there. I mentioned that I had placed the order an hour earlier and expected it to be ready, but the server seemed to brush off my concern, which was disappointing. One highlight was the hot sauce. I'm not sure if it's house-made or not, but it's so good. The pita, however, was a letdown. I prefer my pita soft, fluffy, and warm, but this one was hard and grainy. Overall, it's a cute restaurant with decent food, but it isn't my top choice.

It is not a sit-down restaurant and doesn't pretend to be. What it is, is consistently excellent food at prices that still make sense in a city where that's getting rare. We're regulars, and we usually go on Sunday evenings after my girlfriend gets off work. Falafel wrap and chicken shawarma are our usual order -- the falafel has that crisp-shell, tender-middle thing going, and the wraps are generously built. We've branched out plenty and everything we've tried has been good. The other reason we keep showing up is the people. Turna usually takes our order, and she is genuinely lovely -- friendly in a way that isn't a customer-service script. My girlfriend and I always walk out in a better mood than we walked in with, which is worth a lot. Practical notes: halal, lots of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, open until midnight Fri/Sat, and they cater. Grab some napkins if you're eating the wrap on the move -- it's a big one, and that's a compliment.

I'm a big fan of the chicken shawarma--it's really flavorful and hits the spot when it's done right. That said, on a couple of my previous orders the meat was a bit on the dry side, but I still find myself coming back because when it's on point, it's really good. Staff is friendly, and most of the time you can stand on their ledges to eat or sit outside. There were 2 small tables that seat 2-3 per table. Pro tip: ask for the tahini and hot sauce on the side and load it into your wrap--it takes it up a notch.

The clean your table for faster turnaround and they take care of the dirty dishes as I couldn't find a garbage can to throw my sandwich wrapper away. My companions and I came right on time on Sunday afternoon, the start of the lunch crowd around 1pm because the line line was forming to purchase, get a number and look for a table. It was a nice and sunny day in the Mission District. I couldn't decide if I wanted sandwich or salad. I went with the lamb which contained THOMAS FARMS LAMB LEG Harissa-Spiked Yogurt, Cucumber, Radish, Pickled Red Onion, Feta Cheese and one friend ordered the salad version of THOMAS FARMS LAMB LEG that had Harissa-Spiked Yogurt, Cucumber, Radish, Pickled Red Onion, Feta Cheese. This was perfect fulfilling and yummy in my tummy. Love to come here if I was in the area. One companion has strict dietary restrictions and it makes it had to find a place but this place is perfect. Healthy eating and it tastes good! And she was happy with her meal. They clean the tables pretty fast turn around and we lucky got a table. Good quality food and I had to get the frozen Greek Yogurt with honeycomb which brought back memories of Athens. Again another home run place to eat at. I never had a bad experience l.

Plus, the staff is always pleasant and efficient.

Parking is meter street parking. I would try across the street if you can't find any close by. I knew I had to order their frozen yogurt. They offer a couple of choices for topping with the frozen yogurt like sour cherry syrup, olive oil and flaky sea salt, baklava crumbles and honey syrup, and lastly, wildflower honey. I ended up going with the frozen yogurt topped with baklava. First off, the frozen yogurt is super tart but the baklava is the great addition to balance it out. It made me keep on going back for another spoonful. I really enjoy it and its something I do think and crave for. Overall, come here if you want some frozen yogurt!

I ordered on the left counter, which was fast and straightforward. Their server was quick and I got my yogurt in seconds. Even though there was plenty of seating at the restaurant itself, I decided to take it to go. Inside, it was very bright, though, and it seemed great if you want to bring friends to eat and hang out. The yogurt itself was nice and tart, and the baklava was good, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the combination together. I think the dish is nice but not something I'd say you have to try.
