Kindest people own this little gem of a restaurant. Love the atmosphere and of course the food. The baklava is the best I've ever eaten!

The food was decent. Along with the chicken shish kebab plate, I also had the falafels and Cigar Bourek (fried cheese sticks). The kebab plate was okay; could have used a little more seasoning, the falafels were very good, and the cheese sticks were very salty. The service could have been a little better... The wait staff wasn't very attentive. I'd recommend this place if someone was looking for an authentic Mediterranean type of meal but I probably won't go back. read more

We have been here several times and consistency is obvious in food quality and service. This place has become a favorite of ours, we have not had a bad meal and the flavors of their food just pop. It's quite hard to find good Turkish food in the US (something you don't fully realize until you've actually had a meal in Turkey), but Bosporus comes as close as I've found. Mainly I judge a Turkish restaurant by its bread and lentil soup, and Bosporus scores on both counts. Although I wasn't really equipped to leave with leftovers, as I had a flight to catch after my meal, I made sure to bag my leftover bread for a late-night hotel snack at my destination. My chicken sandwich was tasty - especially after adding the yogurt dip and some of the spicy oil served with the bread. I have been going to Bosphorus for years now but this is my first time officially reviewing it. Bosphorus serves some great Mediterranean and Turkish food in the Cary area. We got a couple of things this time. 1) The Lamb Shish Kebab, that comes with a bulgur pilaf and a side salad, was cooked to a tender and juicy perfection. 2) The Adana Kebab was full of flavor in every bite. They say it's spicy hot but it's not that hot! I would call it a medium spicy! 3) The Sautéed beef liver was average. Probably won't order that again. 4) The Cigar Bourek is a great appetizer if you like Feta cheese. It is loaded with cheese and you'll know if from the first bite you take. It was our friends first time going to Bosphorus and they ordered the Chicken Shish Kebab and the Shrimp Guvec. They enjoyed both the items and definitely will be coming back. Food was good, but the best thing was the bread and chilli oil they serve, had a lot of flavor.

This was by far the worst experience at a restaurant. To have a half eaten pepperoncini on your plate and the staff trying to you it's ok and not change the plate. BOSPHORUS IS A LOCAL GEM!! Truly a Turkish delightful experience! This place is busy! For good reason! The service is excellent and the food is even more excellent. They start you off with flaky warm bread. Deliciously paired with an oil dip. Then we got the pepperoni pide (pizza) It's unlike a regular pepperoni pizza!! It's crispy, cheesy, oven toasted bread and the meat is HIGH QUALITY! Juicy, clean, HALAL. I promise ...you haven't had pepperoni pizza like this before! We ordered the mixed kabob platter: it contained gyro meat, chicken, lamb. The meats were so tender and soft and full of traditional seasoning. It came with salad on the plate. It also came with a yogurt dip perfect with the meat. Perfectly cooked meat on a bed of bulgar pilaf. The bulgar was soft, seasoned, and a great pair with the meat. let me preface this by saying that the food at this restaurant is very good... HOWEVER, if you enjoy good service, amicable staff, or fairly priced food, this is NOT the restaurant for you... (unless you're caucasian). my family and multiple other families i know (south asians), are consistently treated like second-class citizens- we are not allowed to make reservations and the restaurant panders to the 'more american' population. today, to avoid this terrible service, we ordered take-out. they insisted on charging ONE DOLLAR for a tiny cup of the same dipping oil they give for free in the restaurant with bread. my family and i will NOT be patronizing this establishment any further. read more

I do not have much experience eating Turkish food but this place was AMAZING. They start you off with delicious bread and a seasoned oil dip that is so good. We then ordered their appetizer plater that had a nice selection of different foods with different flavors, all of which were delicious. My main course was the lamb kabab and it was tender, seasoned, and grilled to perfection. They offer complementary tea here as well so that was a nice way to end my meal. read more

Tried the place with family. Unfortunately, they were out of falafel for the day, so we tried the hummus instead. ⁃ the hummus was decent flavor, however, the bread was made fresh. The server wasn't sure what type of bread it was but it was warm fluffy and went well with the free items. ⁃ The main course was shared, including the mixed grill. Their chicken pide(pizza) was best part of the experience; it was absolutely amazing and deceivingly filling. ⁃ The mixed grill had good flavor with different meat, only down side was the lamb which was over cooked but the rest of the meats were excellent. Such a great time from the minute we were seated the experience was fantastic. Our server had a smile that could light up a room and she gleefully shared suggestions of what to order. We had the Bosphorus Meze platter, cigar bourek, chicken adana kebab and the mixed grill kebab and not one of the suggestions was wrong. Typically I am a fan of Bosphorus, however, tonight made me rethink coming back again. The service was some of the worst that I have ever had anywhere. We ordered Lentil Soup, Falafel, Greek Salad and the Shrimp. We never received the Shrimp and No one even came to check or even remember that we had ordered the shrimp until they tried to charge us for it. It took them about 20 min to even come back to check on my table because they were all just standing and sitting around in the dining area in front of all the customers. Then I ordered a tea when he finally came back around..he proceeded to come back with a tray for the restaurant, asked my husband if he wanted a tea, he declined, and then he didn't even bother to give me mine, or even ask if I wanted one. It was like I was invisible. Terrible Service!! They get 2 stars cause I liked my Lentil Soup and the bread and oil. read more

This restaurant was wonderful. My wife and I were specifically looking for a place with an interesting menu, great food, and as casual atmosphere, and Bosphorus was all of that and more. All of the staff were very nice, patient with our poor pronunciations of some menu items, and keeping busy. Prices were also very reasonable. We will definitely be back. Over the last many years, we have greatly enjoyed the food here. While the service has been inconsistent, the food has been constantly excellent. We were very disappointed with our last visit. We were shocked and disappointed when our check arrived. First, the prices did not match the menu. On check-out, we discovered that the prices now reflect a surprise credit card fee. Second, the sales tax is based on the enhanced prices. (They are improperly charging taxes on the surcharge.) Final issue: Formerly, the baklava was fresh and delicious; alas, no more. I don't love this type of cuisine (hummus, falafel, etc.), however, I discovered two gems. The red lentil soup (the Turkish bread that accompanied it was amazing!) and the yogurt drink (aayran) which tastes like Persian doogh. We were driving around killing time before my moms flight out of RDU, saw a line of people going into this place and without knowing what kind of restaurant this was we stopped. To randomly stop at a place like this was only god send. Being half Turkish myself and spending some of my best days in life there eating the best food I've eaten....oh my goodness.... The smell of this place took me back years ago to mind numbing good food....we instantly spoke Turkish with the waiter Moustafa, met the owner Nur, her son Alfred...just amazing amazing people serving wholesomely authentic food like a restaurant from Adana or Eskisehir...fresh made bread to die for. The dip for the bread was excellent. We desperately wanted to try the iskendar kebab but unfortunately and rightfully so...they had ran out. So we had a mixed grill platter which was mouth wateringly amazing. Probably the thinnest, juiciest, succulent gyro meat and heart throbbing good meats. I can't explain how delicious that was in words. The meza platter to taste the heavenly good sides they had, absolutely amazing, delicious. Undoubtedly will be back Sunday and earlier before they run out for Iskendar kebab as that's the only day they sell it. We were in-town for the graduation of my nephew from UNC and ended up here. All the food that we had was delicious. The bread was very good...and even better with the ezme appetizer to dip it in (or even eat straight). As a main course, I had the chicken shish kabob, the flavor of which was just amazing and it was also cooked to perfection. The service was very good too. One of my favorite places in the area! Amazing Turkish food. Simple and clean inside. The smell of fresh pita is very appetizing. The oil they serve with their pita as you settle down is great. Pretty much everything on the menu is good, it's nice to get a appetizer sampler. My go-to is the Adana kababs, tender and juicy, well seasoned, though not spicy. The turkish pizza (pide) are also a good option. It's nice to end things off with the tea. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. As for the lamb doner on sundays.... You have to go in early!
