So, we tried Fat Moes in Butler for the first time last night. We tried the mixed grille and an order of falafel. Outstanding food and good portions for decent price. This shop is run by Mom and son, didn't get names, but nice family and owners. I mostly talked with mom as her son did the cooking. We will most assuredly be back as we both enjoy our Mediterranean cuisine. Oh, and try their own name soda (Fat Moes), made with cane sugar. We tried many different items last night. The highlights were the grape leaves and the spinach pie (more like a pocket, it was small, but it was damn tasty!). The gyro platter was tasty and plentiful but the gyro ordered my itself was not (it was small). The chicken platter was dry and not seasoned properly. The falafel was sadly dry, but with enough of the yummy tzatziki sauce, it was delish. All of the food came with plenty of tzatziki and hot sauce. We will definitely order again as what we did like, we really enjoyed. Can't wait to try the hummus next time. The really annoying part of this new restaurant is the menu online and the menu they have pre-printed and give you with your order are different. It's like they realized they can charge more and hiked the prices online. We paid the higher prices ordering online and we did not think the prices were fair considering what the pretty printed menu said. Are they charging more to order online? This place is a little on the pricey side, but you get a ton of meat for the price. So it's definitely worth it. Food quality was excellent and tasted great. Service was fast. My order was ready within 15-20 minutes of ordering online. I will be back. Highly Recommended. read more

Gyros are tasty with good meat and pitas but, they lack tzatziki sauce! Instead, they give you a sauce made with sour cream and mayo and it tastes exactly like ranch dressing. At first I thought someone accidentally grabbed ranch dressing instead of tzatziki sauce but they explained this thin runny ranch dressing is correct. Yuk! This changed recently because just 3 months ago they had actual tzatziki sauce with cucumber the way it's supposed to be. Their decision to stop offering tzatziki is a huge deal breaker! Keep looking. You can do better and more authentic. It's a shame, I liked this place at first! read more

Had such a pleasant experience today going into Fat Moe's. Moe welcomed us and introduced himself asking if this was our first time. He was so kind and polite. While we waited for our food he came over and offered us a sample of his lentil soup. When we went to checkout he made conversation was extremely polite and also gave us two free baklava. Before even trying my entree I was sold. The hospitality made my evening. After trying the food I can't wait to come back. They also give you alot of food! I stopped in today with my sister and girlfriend. After asking the Chef what he recommends, my sister and I ordered the lamb and chicken platter, my girlfriend the chicken kabob. All the food was EXCELLENT. The platters had meat and some lettuce on a bed of rice. The food arrived at our table very quickly was seasoned just right. We had questions about what desserts were available and the staff was eager to assist us. They were very patient and explained what was in each item. I will defiantly be going here again. read more

I pulled into their parking lot right in front of their door. Walked in and ordered a gyro to go. The Lady behind the counter was very nice & friendly. It took10minutes. I paid as soon as it was done and left. She gave me 2 small containers of sauce. 1 was a white sauce and 1was a brown sauce. I didn't use either. It had enough white sauce on it already. I ate it at home and it was delicious!!!! I have been back 2 times after that. I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes Gyros. I will definitely try other items on their menu. Food is good. Lady at the front seem to not understand what i was saying but it wasnt a big issue. The guy that was in there over heard me and proceeded to make the fries i was missing. I gave this place a chance again now that it's been open a while, but they are still not staffed to handle more than one order at a time. I ordered online at 12:00 pm for my 30 minute lunch break at 12:30. The service said the food would be ready by 12:30 so that was fine. I did not get my food until 1 pm. We discovered this place a few months ago after the other Mediterranean place in town closed. This food is way better. We get take out every week. Everything I've had has been good... shawarma, kebab, even the burrito is good. Fries are solid, hot sauce is great. They seem a bit understaffed at times but worth the wait. read more

So happy to welcome outstanding middle eastern food to our neighborhood! Have tried the mixed grill, which gives you Kofta, beef, and chicken on a bed of rice with some salad. Came with 3 homemade sauces - a tzatziki type, a garlic yogurt/toum, and a hot sauce, (along with bread). All three meats were delicious, especially the chicken, and I was very happy to have kofta without having to make it myself. The sauces were homemade and also delicious. Approx $20 with tax - so while not inexpensive, the portion was sizable, but the real winner here was the quality of the food. Super authentic. Because the decorations are all Egyptian, I returned today to try the falafel - a favorite and the best I ever had was from a street vendor in Cairo 10 years ago - I still remember that $1 lunch :) Well, Fat Moes didn't disappoint. Best falafel I think I've had in the states. I also tried the Baba Ganoush. Possibly the best I ever had, and I make this myself, too. I cannot say enough about Fat Moes. Next time I'm going to inquire with the owner and also extend my love of their food. BTW, the location is tricky, however this is predominantly a take out type location, or for delivery - although they have a very nice seating area. Huge shout out to Fat Moe's Mediterranean Food on Rte 23 in Butler. I placed a large order consisting of kebab platter, shawarma cheesesteak sandwich, mixed grill platter, tabouleh salad, stuffed grape leaves, baba ghanoush, cheese borek, and basbousa, accompanied by pickles and sauces,for delivery for 4pm. Not only were they punctual but the food was delicious and reminded me of my days in Egypt where I grew up. Furthermore, at around 5 pm I got a call from Moe, the owner to ask me whether I was satisfied with the order and to let him know how he could make it better...
