Ok so I got a mailer for this place and i have been missing the Zippy's experience since they closed so i went to try this. Its a walk up window so there are no places to sit and eat. There are some of those barriers they use to block RVs but basically there is no seating whatsoever. So we went up to the window and ordered. I think this place was sold recently because the folks working looked like some kind of family. So I ordered the double cheeseburger and fries and a few milkshakes. While waiting for the food I noticed that the food department rating was only fair which was surprising which means this place probably has some serious cleanliness issues. When we got the food it was pretty mediocre. Our burgers barely had any lettuce, some really sad looking pickles and the website which has not been updated since prices don't match has pics that look way different. It stated they use non frozen meat and daily delivered bread. Well I am pretty certain that changed with the new owners. Food was not that warm and honestly didn't taste fresh or had much seasoning of flavor. Frozen poorly salted crinkle fries and milkshakes that were so thick you couldn't suck through the straw. I put them in the fridge and tried again a few hours later and they too were mediocre. I am used to Zippy's and none of this was even close. Next time Lil Woodys down the street is a better bet. Not only is the food a lot better you can sit down and eat. Oh when we paid the credit card reader had the suggested tip start at 30%! WTF you are a walk up window and you offer no service. With Seattle's high minimum wage you should not be asking for tips to begin with never mind 30% to start which is outrageous. Not Recommended at all. read more

This place is definitely a solid 3. The food is good, but when your friend (who has been coming here for a while and often) tells you to be wary of the veggies, you have them removed (-1 star). It does get soggy when it's in there because of the sauce, but it's ok. It tastes good all in all. The tub of fries is always a good favorite, not too greasy and perfect with their boss sauce. We come here because it's a local business, the staff is friendly and the service is quick. Just try the dub-c, boss hog, or the hot link burger. I wasn't a fan of their chicken strips. Their milkshakes are always good though. We will keep coming back :) read more

I am not a yelp person -- I think I have written 2 or 3 reviews but the way our situation was handled was egregious to say the least. We will get Boss sometimes because we live close and it's convenient. My partner ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and when he bit into it we realized the chicken was completely raw. The outside was barely seared. If that wasn't upsetting enough, when my partner took the sandwich back to show employees he was provided the owner's phone #. He called the # and the person on the other line denied being an owner/boss/manager, said they were just an employee and he must've been given the wrong #. My partner goes back to the person in charge and asks that they call the owner from their phone, which they do. After the situation is explained, the owner ONCE AGAIN -- to the person in charge!!!! -- claimed that they were just an employee and couldn't help with the situation. The person in charge seemed clearly frustrated at the evasion of accountability by the owner. The refund for the order in no way resolves or makes better the situation. We had to report the incident to the health dept for public safety concerns. read more

My friend worked here. She told me that the new owners are very nasty. They don't wear gloves when preparing people, serve food that fell on the floor, the cook yells at works to work when they are on their breaks, they store items used in food prep in the bathroom, and rather than fix your order they got wrong, the cook would rather argue with you. Surprised one of they customers haven't gotten sick yet. The 11pm - 11am crew leave all meats, cheese, other frozen and refrigerated items out all night long, and the morning cook will cook with that ruined food with no hesitation. I ordered from Yelp and when I went to pick up my order about 10 mins after I was notified it was ready, I was told that it had already been picked up. They actually argued with me that I had already picked it up. It was under my name. They claimed they checked the person's name. I seriously doubt that's true. Similar to Dick's, Burger Boss unfortunately has none of the charm or curb appeal. ********* CUSTOMER SERVICE: Speed of service wasn't horrible, but it did take about 7-10 mins to get our food. For a place that's supposed to be a fast food joint, that might be too long. This location recently opened up, so this might be due to a potential learning curve and speed would probably improve soon. Also, at this time, they're not able to accept phone orders, so you basically order and then wait in your car until they call your name for food pickup. ********* THE FOOD: I ordered a classic cheeseburger, fries, and a strawberry milkshake. The meat paddie in the burger was pretty thin and dry. When I bit into the burger, it kind of reminded me of a better but slightly more expensive version of the cheese burger on the dollar menu at McDonald's. The milkshake was okay, but it was too thick for my liking. The dipping sauce (which was some kind of ketchup with ranch mixture) was pretty tasty though. Dropped by and it was a beautiful day and wanted to try BB. This place as you've read is similar to going to a Dick's and the burgers are just a bit bigger than a slider, so if you're really hungry expect to order 2 of them or just get the tub of fries as it's huge. The best thing here is the crinkle cut fries and the burger is just meh, the first bite or two is good and then you can't really finish it as it seems to melt together into a blob of meat, sauce, onions and bread. A plus was the guy at the window is a great guy and the service was personable. He even walked out my meal without having to call me to the window. They have a few picnic tables and I enjoyed eating it right then and there. Overall, the service and fries is the best. The burgers are good if you like Dick's or a McDonalds cheeseburger. read more

I couldn't find a phone number, website ordering option... any means of contacting these people for carrying out, but they had pretty good reviews so I winged it. My first visit was during a busy time and it took a moment to get the food. No gonna lie, the burger is an eyesore. It looks like the person who wrapped it was taking out some frustration, ensuring it wouldn't leak or trying to pack it into a ball. The staff are hard working to crank out that food, and they have a board that puts up your number once your food is ready. The burgers themselves are aggressively devourable. I can't think of a better way to describe them. The fries and rings, recipes, and sauces are all excellent. I haven't tried the milkshakes yet but have no reason to suspect they would skimp on quality there. I underestimated this place for too long. read more

Boss Burger was a great place for a hamburger shakes and fries -- until about six months ago. Then the service went downhill quickly, and I could expect my order to be wrong one of of every three visits. About a month ago, they started ordering online and then going to pick up the order. Great idea to beat the line. So today, on my birthday, I thought I would order my Dub C burger, chocolate shake and fries online and then go pick it up in about twenty minutes. When I got there, my shake was ready, but they couldn't find the order for my burger or fries. After about twenty more minutes I started to demand my money back and was told that they couldn't do that. I demanded to see the manager. I was told she was the manager. I told her to call the owner. She swore at me, then just grabbed a hamburger and some fries off another order, stuffed it into my bag and shoved it an the shake they made 40 minutes earlier out of the window. The two other people waiting there for their lost online orders also started demanding a refund. Then there is the issue about their advertised price versus their ACTUAL price. They advertise one price on their menu and charge you a different price in reality. They are calling it a 'fee'. I'm filing a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's office because this isn't legal. It is a bait and switch. Today was my first time trying Boss-Drive-In. I always drove past this burger joint and wanted to try it out, I just never got around to it. I'm glad I made the decision to eat here today. After a long workout at the gym I decided to reward myself with a fatty burger and some fries. I wanted something that would throw away any progress I made in the gym, and Boss-Drive-In fulfilled that desire to say the least. When I pulled up to the drive in restaurant I parked my car at their interestingly designed parking blocks. From there I was able to visibly see the menu from the steering wheel. My only objective was to get a monstrosity of a burger. The Triple Whammy which is a three patty burger served with three pieces of cheese, lettuce, onions, and Boss Sauce immediately caught my eye. Picking this burger was a lock. The next thing I needed to find was some fries. When looking at the fries on the menu I only saw the tub of fries. This was a mistake on my part as it was the largest order of fries you could get. I should've closely looked at the menu to see there was a order of small, medium, or large fries. I ended up ordering the Triple Whammy and Tub of Fries which were the biggest items for their categories. Luckily I had a huge appetite and was able to finish all of the food. The burger was tremendously good and their Boss sauce definitely had a unique kick to it. The fries were crinkled to perfection which is the way I like em. The customer service was great and it was simple to order my food. To order food I had to walk up to the window and place my order. They take debit and credit cards but your card needs to have a chip. After ordering your food you receive an order number and you can return to your car if you would like. They call your order on a microphone and it is shown on a electronic window sign. The pickup process was frictionless and I happily retrieved my food to stuff my face. Overall I was satisfied with the food and customer experience. Stop by Boss-Drive-In if you are in the White Center area and love burger drive ins! read more

In all fairness I was a little ill when I had Boss Burgers but here goes. My wife and I one day last week didn't feel like cooking and this joint is right around the corner. I had seen the place with its big BOSS sign out front many a time but never bothered to stop and try it out. Until now. I really do dig the whole 50's drive in model. You know the look: big windows out front where they take your order, parking spaces out front not far from them. We were really in the mood for milkshakes that night. I was about 100% sure I didn't come to a McDonalds but guess what? I couldn't get a vanilla shake nor a vanilla blurry for my wife. I ended up getting a swirl instead. My wife hated it because she hates chocolate and I do have to say my swirl might have been almost excessively chocolatey. Good but not exactly what I wanted. I ordered a triple whammy with a side of onion rings and a cowboy with a turkey patty for my wife. The onion rings were nice and crispy but I didn't really love the taste/texture. It's those types of rings where the onion under the batter is just this shapeless nondescript goop. Yet and still not the worst I've ever had. My burger was exceptional in that the quality of the meat stellar. The burger was not huge. The size was actually quite modest. The taste though was through the roof in its goodness. I ate the whole thing without ketchup which is weird because that is the way I prefer a burger (with ketchup). My wife shares my sentiment as she enjoyed the turkey burger for two days in a row. She thought it was especially flavorful. She said she could hardly tell that it was turkey. On that second night we did get our vanilla shake and blurry. Those are some damn good shakes. I feel like this place is certainly above average in its cuisine. I read a review that made mention of the staff being "asshole teens". I don't especially agree with that but yeah they are a bit on the young side. They also didn't give me any reason to admonish them. I feel like if I came on another few days they'd be right up there with the best. My gripes are mostly the cost and the portion size. This place is definitely worth a try. read more

We saw the orders pile up on the counter while the workers just walked back and forth. Finally they started bagging up the orders and then they called out the orders all at once.
