I went to Salmon Creek Cafe for breakfast this morning with my hubby. We ordered Breakfast Wrap and Steak and Eggs with 2 coffee. The server lady was very good. The atmosphere of the store is a bit old-fashioned and easy to enter. You can take the menu book at the entrance and sit at your favorite table. My Breakfast Wrap was with lots of ingredients and big that I could only eat half of it. Tasted good! The steak was a bit firm, but it was more flavorful when eaten with garnished eggs or potatoes. My latest mission brought me close to the water tribe of Burien, so I was mindful to respect and honor the green, rolling hills while slipping through the inked, dark evening skylit forests... Revisited this creekside gem in Shoreline, never dissatisfied, they earned my ninja stars on merit. Croque Monseur, upgraded to a Madame. Had a gorgeous herb salad with some of their house dressing to pair. I think I returned, off mission, monthly and resumed the same cuisine each time. Had a great time here! Funny enough, we didn't realize this place is basically Alina's cousin -- same delicious food, same reasonable prices, just with a bit more elbow room and a cozy café vibe. No complaints there! We ordered the steak and eggs. Pro tip: if you like your steak still mooing, make sure to say it loud and clear when you order -- ours came out a little more on the well-done side. Still tasty, though, so no hard feelings. The baked eggs were the real MVP -- absolutely delicious and worth coming back for. We also tried the weekend-only cinnamon roll (because how can you not?), but sadly, it didn't quite butter our biscuit. It was a bit dry and missing that ooey-gooey magic. Oh well, can't win 'em all. We've been coming to Salmon Creek Cafe for years! After almost a year away traveling, we were able to make our way back for weekday breakfast. So happy to report that the cafe is just as good as ever! Menu has been updated and looks fresh and clean. All of the same favorites are on the menu with a couple of new things. Because I love the pesto egg bake, that's what I ordered and it did not disappoint. It tasted slightly different than it used to, but is still creamy and delicious and full of flavor! Plate comes with home fries that are excellently seasoned and toast with their famous home made jam. Pair that with a mimosa and you have the start of a great day! I was meeting up with some friends who had a layover at SeaTac and we decided to go to the highest rated breakfast joint before their next flight. Salmon Creek Cafe came up on top and we headed over right when they opened at 8AM. Biscuits & Gravy ($10.45) - The name is a bit of a misnomer since it only comes with a single rectangular biscuit, cut in half and slathered with sausage gravy. The biscuit is kind of dense and crumbly but has a decent amount of fluffiness. The sausage gravy is not the best. with the texture being a bit off. It feels like it has too much fat added and is also a bit grainy, like the flour isn't completely incorporated. Maybe it was broken and not emulsified properly? There's no dominant flavor in the gravy, just a generally creamy sausage aroma. Both the biscuit and gravy seem to be home made rather than commercially bought, which is well appreciated. (3/5) Breakfast Mac ($12.65) - The mac is cooked past al dente, but isn't to the point of being mushy yet. It's only somewhat cheesy since there's only a smattering of cheese sauce, but it's enhanced by a generous amount of melted cheese added right on top. There's plenty of crumbled bacon sprinkled in to add an additional savory kick, and then two sunny side eggs covering the dish, complete with runny yolk. Finally on top is an arugula salad with just a small bit of vinaigrette drizzled in to help cut through some of the richness down below. This portion size isn't that big, but the dish is quite filling. (4/5) Salmon Creek Cafe serves some decent to good breakfast food that's a little different from typical diner fare. I don't normally eat breakfast/brunch out, but I'd visit again if I find myself in the area looking for an early meal. Note: Salmon Creek Cafe charges a 3% fee for using a credit card. Nice quaint brunch spot for a small group. The place is not very large so I do not recommend big groups here but this was a nice easy spot to visit for a solid meal. We were told they are known for there baked eggs so we had to try that. It reminded me of a Panera souffle but different and less carbs. Also our table got thr weekender, croque monsieur and mango habanero chicken. Everything was very good and filling. Expect to pay on average $13-$20 for a brunch item plus coffee. Not bad at all. Such delicious breakfast food in a cozy little country style location. We came for a Sunday breakfast and were able to sit right away. We had coffee, juices, the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, chicken fried steak, the avocado toast with an egg over easy, a side of bacon and a molasses cookie to go. The waitstaff were busy but able to get our food somewhat timely; there was one order that came out wrong so we had to wait for that to be corrected. There is ample parking in a lot next door though the restaurant location itself is kind of random in Burien! Worth checking out if you want some classic and healthy well done breakfast options! They also do lunch and have some bar amenities, and bakery/pastry items. We loved the Easter decor touches too! read more

We brought a few out of town friends here for a meal before their flight, and everyone, including my toddler, enjoyed our food. There was no wait during Sunday lunch time. We tried: + Steak chimichuri sandwich (4 stars) - thick piece of steak in the middle of toasted bread. +Croque monsieur (4 stars) - a bit on the salty side, but the Dijon mustard and bechamel sauce work well with the ham and cheese. +Green goddess quinoa bowl (4 stars) - vegetarian, healthy and surprisingly filling. +Kid's menu granola bowl (5 stars) - for $5, you can get a small version of the Maple Pecan Granola. Absolutely adorable little local gem! The food was stellar; we got the weekender biscuit sandwich, and the French toast with Marion berry compote... heavenly. We also had chai and coffee which was tasty as well. Cozy local spot, busy on a Friday afternoon with locals catching lunch. Had lunch with a co-worker who lives near by. Honestly would not have given this place a shot without his recommendation, but glad I did. Service was prompt and friendly. I tried the Cobb salad with chicken. Just right sized salad with really delicious dressing. Wish I knew what it was. My coworker had a wrap with a cup of soup that also looked yummy. While doing a little exploring of White Center area, Yelp guided us here on a recent weekend. Walked into this cute little diner with a pleasant vibe, grabbed some menus and picked a table which called to us. Browsing the menu, one item caught my eye: Breakfast Mac and Cheese. With eggs on top, and a side of sausage gravy. This was a YOLO moment: Time to go big or go home, John! The staff were all friendly, coffee was good and that breakfast mac & cheese was everything I hoped for. Now don't get me wrong - if I went back and ordered that again, my body might file a class action lawsuit against me, but it's definitely worth getting at least once. We first went in for breakfast with a party of 5, then my husband and I went another two times during our visit. Food: Delicious! The Croque Monsieur is delicious, the Reuben is amazing! And, my husband really liked the Baked Eggs. Everything is so good. The food is prepared quickly and served at just the right temperature. Atmosphere: Small, local neighbor hood cafe. Decorated with art created from local artists, all for sale. Limited seating but they make it work. On busy days, you put your name down on a list and are called up when a table opens up. Met a friend for lunch at Salmon Creek Cafe last weekend and enjoyed it. It was centrally located for us and had coffee and parking, so it met my basic requirements. The atmosphere is nice and the service was decent. My Moroccan Lentil Skillet was good, but a little plain, I ended up adding some hot sauce but would have enjoyed a little more flavor. I tried a bite of my friend's Bruschetta Chicken sandwich and it was also good. I ordered a cappuccino and asked for nonfat milk and sugar-free caramel. After I got up to get my own stirrer so I could stir in the foam a bit, I definitely could not taste any caramel but I decided not to mention it. I was surprised on the bill that I was charged .59 for "alternative milk" (nonfat milk costs the same as regular milk in a grocery store, it's my standard order and I've never seen an upcharge for it before) and .59 for the syrup I couldn't taste. I didn't bother to mention the extra dollar. The only other complaint I had was the bathroom. I happened to go in right after an employee came out, I don't know if she used the bathroom but I saw her wiping down the door handle with a spray. Great, clean bathroom, right? I went in to find the toilet paper needed to be changed and wads of paper towels on the floor around the trash can. Not the end of the world, I change the toilet paper roll at home, I'm just confused at how that didn't catch the employee's attention. Did she use the bathroom and leave no TP? Or was she just in there to clean and didn't even pick up the trash on the floor? Anyway, overall, it was good, maybe not top on my list to try again with so many good places in Burien, but if my friend suggests it again I probably wouldn't say no. read more

Perhaps they were having an off day, today. I'd been there before and it was pretty good. Today I had a patty melt and soup. The soup was lukewarm. I couldn't quite figure out why the patty melt seemed dry-ish, since there was plenty of dressing and onions. Finally, after snarfing down the whole thing (I should have figured it out sooner and said something) I realized that it had little or no swiss cheese on it. Absolutely none on the leftover bread. Disappointing, though it's partly on me for not sussing it out earlier. I'll try it again sometime as it's been there for years as was its previous incarnation, Geno's and I want to really keep giving them a chance. This is my second time here and I'm so pleased with this little cafe! The price and quality are hard to find in Seattle. I wish I lived closer. I wish I could give a half star because I want to rate this place a 4.5, it's so good but you'd never know by what it looks like from the outside. It's in a random building on the corner and looks kinda old from outside, but the inside is your typical diner style. Last minute brunch decision. Went later in the morning and still had to wait a little while. Sat at the bar top. Fairly small cafe with very nice artwork displayed. Tight to get around. There are two couches by the fireplace. Kind of waste of space for dining in but it's a cafe so I understand. Food came our fairly quick. I got biscuits and gravy with eggs. It was pretty good, biscuit qas nothing special. It was missing the umami to it. It had potential go be better. My sister got the pesto baked eggs which was delicious. I wish I got that instead. My husband and I finally tried Salmon Creek Cafe recently after a few years of curiosity while passing by the spot and seeing the adorable mural. The breakfast/brunch menu has so many classic selections that it seemed like a winner from the start! We arrived around 11 am on a chilly, early December Saturday and were seated right away. There was a steady flow of customers in and out. A tablet at the door allows you to add your name to a waitlist if the tables are full. The servers efficiently check the list, ensuring tables are cleared and everyone is accommodated during busy breakfast rushes. For drinks, I ordered a Michelada, which was served exactly as expected (beer in a glass with a salted rim and ice, Bloody Mary mix, and lime). It hit the spot! Jason got a mimosa. They also offer an impressive coffee selection with delicious lattes, macchiatos, and assorted flavored syrups to choose from. Choosing from the delicious menu was a challenge for both of us. I went with the Croque Madame, and Jason got his go-to: Biscuits and Gravy. We were initially going to share some French Toast, but our server informed us of a special--a mini Dutch Baby with sweet cream. We opted for that instead, and everything tasted amazing. The cafe is decorated with kitschy items and local art. However, I felt that the lighting, at least on the day we went, was too bright--STARK bright. Some softer lighting and background music could have warmed up the environment and pulled together some of the hodgepodge of brick-a-brack which can be fun and give a warm personality if put together right. It's possible they usually play music, and we dined during a time when it was off. The service was excellent, and we will definitely be back.
