Where do I begin!! We had a wonderful brunch for my aunt's 60th birthday!! The food, customer service, and alluring, eye-catching exquisite decor was amazing! The food was delicious from pancakes, country fried steak, shrimp and grits, smokehouse short rub benedict, monte cristo, and lots of mimosa!! The customer service was outstanding. Nick ( manager) EJ (waiter) and Adrian (assistant Gm/ bar manager) they came by to say hello and talk with us for a bit. EJ was funny, and on top of his job, we didn't want or wait very long for anything. He joined in on the birthday song. The hospitality and overall experience were definitely worth writing a review for. The restrooms were clean, and I forgot about the host they were accommodating and very nice!! I had a great experience today for brunch at Bosscat. Service was amazing. Aaron was the sweetest and gave me and my friend great brunch recommendations. I had a pineapple mimosa and a vegetable omelette . I wish the fruity pebbles didn't have bacon in the mix (I'm vegetarian) and that was what I wanted to try but that was my only disappointment everything else was amazing. Dear William, First of all, you have yet again proven in addition to your staff that you or your staff do not know how to handle customer service appropriately. Your response to my review proves your inability to take a customer review, critique and turn it into a positive experience for your business, your staff and most importantly to the customer. After reading your response, I sincerely hope no other customer ever experience an issue with you or your staff because God forbid if they ever decide to bring it up to the staff they are going to publicly humiliated by the general manager of the establishment. First of all, I didn't raise my voice at Cassandra or Nick. Let's get that straight. I asked them a valid question from a customer perspective. My tone and voice was normal as I was still hoping to dine at your restaurant because I have colleagues who recommended your restaurant to me. As someone "hoping" to get accommodated by your staff, logically why would I raise my voice at your management or hostess? Cassandra hung up the phone because 1) she didn't know how else to handle the inquiry 2) she believed she did the best as she was trained to do 3) she didn't think I would call back and ask for a manager. These are all logical reasons. Again, you have no shame in lying on a public social media platform to cover for your incompetence rather than correcting the issue. This is why many companies record calls so they can identify "teachable moments" for their staff and also disregard calls from disrespectful customers. I was told repeatedly that your restaurant does not accept reservations for over 10 covers. I was never told you were fully booked. If either Cassandra and/or Nick told me you were fully booked, I would have ended the conversation and moved on. Why would anyone continue to debate with the staff if you are fully booked? (Logical question) I kept asking what my choices were because I WAS NEVER TOLD YOUR RESTAURANT WAS FULLY BOOKED!!! Let's get that straight. LET ME ALSO ADD, CASSANDRA TOLD ME SHE HAS A SPOT OPEN FOR 10 PEOPLE AT 12:30pm. IF YOU ARE FULLY BOOKED WHY WOULD SHE OFFER ME THAT?? My question to her, which made her hang up was "if I am calling and asking for a reservation for 12 people, why are you telling me that you can accommodate 10, do you want me to tell 2 people not to come" (which I asked sarcastically). It's not like you are the only restaurant that's open in Houston on a Sunday. In fact, we had such a wonderful brunch experience elsewhere and we were accommodated by that restaurant to their best capacity. My wife and I were both in the restaurant/food service industry for many years while we were in college and for years after. My wife was a general manager of a restaurant for many years until she decided to change her career. She would have never responded to a customer the way you or your staff did. Please learn how to understand customer service first, then learn how to understand a customer critique and then learn how to respond professionally. Calling a customer a baby because the customer decided to write a scathing review to expose your staff's incompetence is not the right way to go. You have proven as a general manager that you have no self respect, respect for your business or your staff in the way you acted on this platform. read more

I went here for the first time last weekend with a friend. We ordered the Kansas City chicken meatballs, the portobello mushrooms fries, avocado farm chop salad with shrimp, and the very berry salad with salmon. Everything was really tasty! The service was great. Our glasses were never empty, the food came out fast, hot, and fresh. The dj was playing great music and I loved the aesthetic. This place is great for date nights or spending time with friends. It is kind of hard to find free street parking. We ended up valeting which is free but they work off of tips. So good is great, the whiskey selection is great but for my last visit, our waiter EJ was the real star of the show and I would give him 10 billion stars if I could! I went for dinner last night to catch up with an out of town friend who loves bourbon. They have an excellent list of whiskeys (not just bourbon but scotches and ryes too) and we were fortunate that they had all of the not as common ones we ordered last night! (However one person in our group had been here before and had to go through five choices before getting one in stock, but that was a while ago and not our experience). I think Bosscat's salads are awesome so I went with the Kale Goddess and was about to add on the garlic shrimp for some protein before EJ saved the day and alerted me, spicy shrimp was an option and it would not disappoint. He was extremely correct. Others got the burger and the fried chicken salad and had great meals (they have good steak fries there for the burger and I may have stolen some ). Prices for pours are not as good as some whiskey bars around town, but at least their selection makes up for it and is a good way to try new ones before you buy a bottle. Here, though, you have the advantage of having good food to accompany it. The place has a mix of bar and table seatings and even a whiskey room that can be used for private events. It's a good place for a catch up, a round, a date, or happy hour (until 6)! Additionally if you can't find parking, there's a valet! read more

We are here for Thanksgiving day meal. They had a fix prix menu of turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. The food was delicious and we had plenty to take home for leftovers. Leslie and Nick were our server and they were extremely accommodating and helpful. They have an extensive whiskey collection and good cocktails. Nick gave us a tour of the whiskey collection and even curated a whiskey flight for my husband. Ambiance was amazing! Dan and Don were both attentive, offered amazing recommendations and the food was delectable. We had the spare ribs and the sugar barrel steak that was priced reasonably for what you get and the food was cooked to perfection. I hate onion rings but I actually finished all of mine! The manager was also super nice and showed us the whiskey room and made a Japanese whiskey flight that was super attention to detailed oriented. I got appetizers that were cold (on purpose) that had no flavor and I've tried my friends' steak that tasted rubbery. It was the last day of Houston Restaurant Weeks 2022, and it also happened to be Labor Day. We came for the lunch HRW menu, but unfortunately they were only serving brunch. The day before, I made reservations for a party of three at noon, and we still had to wait fifteen minutes. The restaurant was super busy, and the service was mediocre. This is my third time coming here, the food below average again, so I don't think I'll be coming back. Brunch Food We Ordered: Smokehouse Benedict - This dish had good flavor, but maybe a bit too smoky for my liking. There was an overwhelming amount of pulled pork and not enough potatoes. In addition, the poached eggs were a bit over cooked. Short Rib Chilaquiles - This dish was pretty good! The sauce tasted good, but the chips were very soggy when the dish first came out. It could use a bit more avocado, and cilantro would be a better garnish than curly parsley. Country Fried Steak - I could definitely get better country fried steak at the chain, Kelley's. Once again, the eggs were over cooked, and the steak was super over cooked. The gravy tasted decent, but it was nothing out of the ball park. read more

I've listed pictures you can see it was burnt and the bread as well definitely not what I expected from this place I would go back to try something else but for steak night I recommend somewhere else stay away from the steak here . I would like to give a specific thank you to the staff at boscats. They did the worst possible job to give me a good table. At 8:30 in the evening, I asked for a nice table. And was given the smallest and most uncomfortable broken chair. When I asked to sit at a better table. I was told the table was for a party of 4. So if I don't have enough people I can't have a good table. Sigh. I would say it ended there but after talking with my wife for 10 minutes realized no one had come to ask for drinks or bring water. So we decided to leave. When leave I was asked if everything was ok. I told the girl that sat us that the table was not good and we didn't get service. I asked why we could have the couch table. She said that we were only 2. I asked why does that matter she said that is how she was trained. I thanked her as she told me I was being difficult. We were 2 of 12 people in the whole restaurant including the bar. I ask her to tell her if she ever saw money walking out the door? If not ask her manager how to assist. If you go eat at the bar. We are Houston foodies and have tried numerous restaurants around town. I really would love to give this restaurant five but want to be honest. First the service is the BEST of any restaurant we have ever been to. Your glass will never be empty, your silverware will be cleared and your food comes quickly. Our server Marvin G was absolutely amazing. He recommended cocktails and asked about our preferences. Hands down best service in town. The cocktails are amazing. Fresh ingredients and excellent quality. The food on the other hand was just average. We tried the Houston Restaurant Week menu so I don't want to be too harsh. The steAk was difficult to cut through and the chimichurri was less than flavorful. If we went back we might just get starters and try their daily menu. read more

Holy smokes best meal I've had in months. While I'm Houston for annual visit to MD Anderson, I decided I deserved a really good meal and by that I mean, with meat. Came across Bobcat on Yelp and saw the 12-hour short ribs in a photo. Read the reviews and was sold. Got there before the crowd just before 5PM and enjoyed prompt service. Houston was under a boil water notice and my waiter very professionally explained the impact on them and what they were doing about it. They were serving bottled water at no cost. I enjoyed a cocktail, "The Good Life" which was sweet but really good. I asked the waiter about the beef short ribs and he said "It's our best dish!". Sold again. When the plate arrived I knew I made the right choice. Presented beautifully, a nice chunk of sauce covered ribs on a plank of "scalloped potato" nestled with French fried thin onions and sautéed green beans. All of it bursting with flavor and texture. The ribs were so tender and buttery and so very good. But everything was just perfect. I could have easily shared this with my wife so I stopped halfway through. Which left room for an order of their fried apple pie with ice cream. This is da bomb... homemade empanada style apple pie dusted in cinnamon sugar sitting in some kind of brown sugar sauce. In all honesty, a little too much sweet but if shared among a few people, a nice ending. Great service great food and great atmosphere. Too bad I'm going home (not Houston) tomorrow. read more

Went to Bosscat again last weekend, and... It wasn't as good as my first time..! I was kind of disappointed because I love love loved the 12 Hour Short-Rib last time, and this time, it just wasn't as great. Together, we had 5 dishes: - Shaved Pork Chop Sandwich (which I heard was fantastic) - Bosscat Burger (chef's way, which was a little too much) - Chicken Sausage Pasta (which was just alright) - California Onion Dip (which was pretty good and unique, I really liked the freshly baked garlic pretzels that came with it!) - 12 Hour Short-Rib (which again, was a little disappointing this time around... I almost felt there was too much of the fried onions and not enough of a mashed potato or plainer side to balance the short-rib) We have also had their cocktails, and overall I have been really happy with them -- especially the Spice Trader cocktail. read more

I so wanted to like this place because of the great things I'd previously heard. I came in one weekday for lunch and it wasn't busy. The waiters were very pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere is so attractive with all of the intricate décor. I love the whole vibe of the place. However, I was not impressed with my food choice. As an appetizer I had the shrimp kabobs which were really delicious. The flavor was amazing. Sweet and savory, yet smoky. I just knew I'd enjoy the rest of my meal. I was incorrect. I asked for sweet potato fries and what came out were baked sweet potatoes. It was a beautiful presentation, but not what I'd asked for. I was still willing to give it a try, but sent the dish back because they were not fully cooked. My steak sandwich was also a bummer. Stale bread and not much flavor. I did appreciate the tenderness of the meat though, but that was about it. Wasn't very happy with this place. Came here for dinner because of all the high yelp reviews. Catfish tasted fishy and slimy as if it were a little old. Risotto was good- was confused with the combination of hot sauce and sweet chilli sauce though. Pork candy appetizer is good. The pork poutine was not good though- the gravy and pork and cheese curd combo was not appetizing to look at and eat. It would gain more stars in my book if it were a little cheaper; the price per quality of the food doesn't match up. For a $35 plate I'm looking for something a little more than this- sorry. read more
