Another happy hour date but this time, it was on a Friday at Winsome Prime. My friends had been here before for dinner but this was my first time. We got there at 4pm and to our surprise, the door was locked and there were two patrons waiting outside ahead of us. One of the staff member opened the door around 4:04pm, but that 4 minute wait was slightly off-putting. We made the false assumption that they opened before 4pm but nonetheless the door should've been open. We were able to get seats at the bar but word of advice, if you want to enjoy happy hour, get here right at 4pm because the bar filled up quick. The happy hour menu is very limited, but we ordered 3 out of the 4 things on the menu. We got the shrimp, spinach artichoke and my friends got the wings. I ordered fries as well but they never came out and I'm glad they didn't because they are shaped like onion rings. The food was good, the service was mediocre, but the vibes were decent. There was a DJ as well so that added to the overall experience. One thing they need to do is change those barstools. SOLID!! That's the best word to describe my experience here. Rock Solid! I recently went here for a company dinner and had heard from a friend that it was good, so I was looking forward to it. The TLDR of here is that they have a great, helpful wait staff, nice interior layout with good musical vibes and some really good food at reasonable prices. Plus it's in an area that has easy open parking if you want to skip doing valet. The first thing that I appreciated was that I found a regular parking spot near the front of the restaurant when I pulled up. Valet is cool but it's nice when you don't have to use it. With a shopping center nearby I'm sure there's always free parking near if you don't want to valet. Walking up the exterior design is nice and it carries over to the interior. I feel like the seating allows you to feel secluded enough while still being able to observe around you. I always appreciate an open kitchen so that was a plus for me as well. They had some nice tunes playing to really wrap up the ambiance. Our wait staff was helpful and to me kept a good balance of being present without being overbearing, especially with a larger group. As this was an end of year holiday dinner, we took a group photo in front of the Christmas tree and one of the bartenders helped by taking the photos for us. For food I had the Dip, Chili Glazed Gulf Shrimp and the Lobster Truffle Roll to start. The dip was pretty solid and it came was nice sturdy tortilla chips for them. The dip was more thick than thin and had a decent flavor to it. The shrimp were a good size and seasoned well with a sweet and savory taste. The lobster roll was my favorite of the three. It has a nice balanced flavor without anything overtaking anything else in the roll. I'm a gin drinker and as they didn't have a gin cocktail I wanted to try i got a Negroni. It wasn't my favorite but as it wasn't on the menu, no harm, no foul. I also got a pineapple juice with puree drink made to go with my food and that was pretty good. I always appreciate a place that gives no issue with ordering off menu. For my main I went with the Hawaiian Ribeye on a medium. The steak left a little to be desired doneness but it was a well seasoned flavorful steak. It was paired with charred pineapple cuts and small potatoes. Both of those went well with the steak and completed the meal. I also had the Lobster Mac & Cheese and Broccolini as sides. The broccolini personally didn't have much flavor but the lobster Mac had nice sized lobster pieces compared to some others that I've had. Everyone with me seemed to also enjoy their meals. We did have someone try the Collard Greens Risotto and they didn't like it but it was actually okay to me. This is a place that didn't knock it out of the park flavor wise for me but it delivered more than a decent amount of good food. It definitely feels like an upscale restaurant, and the atmosphere inside is relaxed, intimate, and well suited for special occasions. One detail I thought was unique is that photographers walk around the restaurant offering to take pictures for guests. If you like the photo, you have the option to purchase it afterward, which is a nice way to commemorate a special night. For my meal, I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon along with the New York Strip and grilled asparagus. The food itself was excellent--well seasoned, well prepared, and very flavorful. The portion was generous enough that I ended up taking some of it to go. The reason I am giving three stars comes down to the service. We barely saw him at first, and when he came to take our orders there was very little patience. It felt somewhat rushed, as if we were expected to order quickly, eat, and move along. Toward the end of the evening the interaction improved, but the initial service set the tone for the experience. Inside, the space is cozy and modern with darker tones, wood accents, and a great R&B playlist that keeps the room lively but still easy to talk. Service was the highlight of the evening. Our server was attentive, knew the menu well, and made good recommendations. When they found out we were celebrating, the restaurant brought out a complimentary slice of rainbow cake, which was a nice touch. We started with the Bacon Jam Wagyu Sliders. Two sliders with bacon jam, sriracha mayo, and pickles. These were very tasty and probably the most memorable bite of the night. The Flight Risk cocktail was refreshing but very pineapple forward. It includes Grey Goose vodka, super yuzu, and Thai basil syrup, but those flavors didn't really stand out. The Snapper Orleans was well cooked. It's a blackened snapper filet over collard green risotto with an Orleans sauce with crab and one shrimp. The fish was nicely prepared, but the risotto had no real hint of collards, either visually or in flavor. The Chicken Royal was a pan seared airline chicken breast stuffed with boudin, rice, cheeses, spinach, and peppers, served over mashed potatoes with mushroom royale sauce. It was good, but like several dishes, the flavors felt a bit restrained. Overall, we expected more punch than what came through. Dessert was the biggest disappointment. The Rum Butter Cake surprisingly had no rum or butter flavor. Overall, the food was good but didn't quite rise to the price point. The restaurant stands out more for its service and atmosphere than bold flavors. Thanks to our welcoming and patient waiter, Tyrone, we learned this tidbit of info during a friend's small birthday dinner on a jam-packed Saturday night. We made reservations and were quickly seated after waiting at the bar for less than 5 min. (In that short time frame, the bartenders were eager to provide us with menus and ice-cold water to cool off from the Houston night humidity). Casa Migos and 6 martini glasses) gave the table a good laugh -- I don't understand how that price could ever be justified, even in a swanky place like WP where the playlist and service are consistent and perfect for a girls' night out, date night, or any kind of celebratory brunch or dinner. The food had good flavor. I had the Oxtail Hash and my friend had the Ribeye and eggs. We both asked for over medium eggs and received over hard eggs. My friend wanted a medium well steak and received a VERY well done steak. I told the server I wasn't drinking alcohol and requested a Mojito mocktail. He didn't understand what that was and offered water. 30 minutes later he came and said "we have an alcohol free Mojito you can try ". Ummmmm I asked for that in the beginning. The experience started with a warm greeting at the host stand with a lovely young lady with locs. She escorted us to where we'd be dining. Sand to the Beach - 4.5/5 Ribeye - 1/5 House salad - it's a salad Truffle fries - 4/5 Spinach stuffed salmons - 3/5 Lobster truffle rolls - 1.5/5 (Gifted to us) Rainbow Birthday Cake - 2/5 - The drink was probably one of the best drinks I had in a long time, it was sweet & quite tropical. - Truffle fries was my mom & i's favorite dish, very nicely crunchy, well cooked & you can actually taste the truffle flavor, extremely well seasoned with the Parmesan cheese that doesn't taste overwhelming milk-grease that cheese sometimes have. Now sadly ... the food was mediocre at best. - The lobster truffle roll was the fish dish that came out as our appetizer, advertised as their winsome's signature roll, is quite a disappointment dish, the rice was extremely greasy, the truffle lobster mix & cream cheese just clashed with each other and blend all in. Pickled ginger was mushy and tasted old. We didn't fry the wasabi. - House salad just taste like any other regular salad. - Ribeye, my mom's order of ribeye was the most disappointing for her, she requested for medium-well and it came out PERFECTLY medium-well ... but it was OVERLY salty. Unbearably salty. She tried to be nice and are a few more small bites but at some point, she couldn't even taste anything else from how salty the meat was. We did return the dish to the kitchen. She ate salad & a bite of my salmon for the rest of the night. - My spinach stuffed salmon was just okay & edible. No mind blowing factor here. I did like how evenly the fish cooked and the flavor was good, not overly salty so my mom was able to have some. Also, not sure how it's advertised with "jumbo lump crab meat" when you can clearly see in my picture that there's only bit pieces of the crab meat. Still edible but no wow factor from me. - rainbow birthday cake - it kind of just taste like store-brought cake, kind of cute with the cotton candy touch. read more

Such a cute place. I came here several years ago when it was the Warwick. The food was great then and still great. We decided to celebrate my friend's birthday here and had a fantastic time. The server was amazing. He was Very knowledgeable of all the items on the menu. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip. Very delicious and cheesy! Also the oysters, very flavorful , reminds me of a twist to oyster Rockefeller. There was crispy texture on the top which I loved. We all enjoyed our drinks, from the mojitos, to the wines. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. I had the salmon with the crabmeat on top and garlic parm potatoes. So flavorful, seasoned well. Good amount of crabmeat. We told the waiter about our friend's birthday and she got a large free piece of cake, which we all shared and loved. A photographer wthere to take pictures which was awesome bc we were not only celebrating my friend's birthday but also a reunion of high school friends that had not been together in 30 years. So it was a special moment. We all bought the picture that came with a glass frame for $20. Which was not a bad price. All in all I will be back again when I visit Houston! read more

Review for Winsome Prime (formerly The Warwick) - 4/5 I came to Winsome Prime on a Saturday night for a 7 p.m. reservation, hoping for a fun date night. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside--elegant ambiance, great lighting, and a lively bar scene. The bar area was already packed when we arrived, with upbeat music and a social vibe. If you're into the scene-y crowd, the bar's definitely the place to be. Initially, we were seated at a small two-person table that felt a bit cramped, especially being so close to another couple that we could overhear everything. Since the restaurant was still relatively empty at that time, I asked the hostess if we could move to one of the corner booths. To their credit, they were accommodating and let us switch, which made the experience much better. The music was fun and added a nice touch to the atmosphere--until it just... stopped. Around 7:45 p.m., the music cut off completely for about 15 minutes. I assume they were trying to transition to a DJ... a little disappointing but understandable, so not a big deal. Now for the drinks and food: Drinks: I ordered the Flight Risk cocktail (Grey Goose, pineapple juice, yuzu, Thai basil syrup), and it was delicious. Great balance of flavor--refreshing, slightly sweet, and still felt like a proper cocktail. I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second one. Appetizers: * The spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips was rich, creamy, and one of the better items we had. * The chili glazed gulf shrimp (only four pieces) was fine--nothing amazing, but not bad either. But I think if you are a big shrimp fan you'll like it. * The crab beignets were disappointing to me, but I think this is personal taste as others seem to like it. * The collard green risotto was surprisingly good--creamy, flavorful, and a solid side. A bit too salty, but still enjoyable. Entree: We split the Chicken Royale, and it was my least favorite dish of the night. Presentation was off--it looked more like a sausage than anything appealing. Taste-wise, it was a bit bland. For the price, I expected much more, and it left us wishing we'd just stuck with appetizers. All in all, I'd say Winsome Prime is a great spot for drinks and small plates in a nice setting--especially if you're going with friends and looking for a social night out. But if you're expecting a memorable dinner or romantic evening, it might not hit the mark. I probably wouldn't return for a full dinner, but I'd consider going back just for the bar and a couple of apps if I was already nearby. read more

This place is so nice for celebrations. Its a refined brunch spot and service is A1! We had so many appetizers and forgot that we still had food coming, I couldn't stop eating. The fried cauliflower, truffle lemon pepper wings, and shrimp were all exquisite. My friends had the oxtail hash and raved greatness about the dish. I had the lobster Benedict and was definitely able to enjoy a neat take on a benny. The sweet potato waffles and chicken was the piece of resistance!!! Their wine and cocktail list was equally phenomenal. The white peach sangria was refreshing and satisfying. Over all it was such a great experience even with a sunny 2 year old, our waiter made sure he incorporated her and made her feel special with sparkling water! Definitely a must try. read more

I guess they changed their name to the winsome now? I have always known it as the Warwick lol anyway the ambience is cool, dimly lit restaurant and it wasn't really busy when we went for dinner. The food is okay, nothing to really hit home about. They had a drink on their menu that had sir Davis in it, and as a huge Beyonce fan, I had to order lol that was probably the best thing there. read more

Great service! We had a server from Ohio who did a great job and went above and beyond. We started with a round of drinks, the honey drink was delicious. The chargrilled oysters were so flavorful. I wouldn't skip on the crab beignets, one of my favorites with the pineapple sauce. Everyone was impressed with the food, we all loved our entrees. I had the salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, one of the best salmon's I've had! Perfect atmosphere for brunch or a date night! We loved the aesthetic & lighting inside.
