Beware though, we sacrificed hearing the live music to be serenaded by the sounds of the waterfall; that was fine with me, but something to make note of when booking. The service was definitely on point, from beginning to end. Our server was kind, personable, and it didn't feel like he was trying to upsell us. He did a great job! Now. The food! One person had the rack of lamb. I wouldn't recommend that one person order this because it is HUGE. Easily could feed two people!!! The lamb was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the branzino. It felt like a lighter option and it came with a sauce that was delectable; I could put that sauce on everything! Another person had a ribeye and that was the star of the show!!!! Perfectly cooked, well seasoned, great marbling. Next time, I'll probably order this. No complaints about the asparagus, mashed potatoes, or Mac & cheese that we had for sides. That being said, 5-star food, service, and ambiance is always going to come with a 5-star price. It was pretty expensive, and we ended up paying about $150/pp after tax and tip. But was it worth it? Dined in with family for a belated birthday dinner and we had the most amazing experience. From entry, parking was easy with their valet service. We were sat promptly and given great attention by our server. For starters we shared the meatballs, crab cakes, and lots of their bread. Everything was delicious. For my entree I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon, with shared sides of the creamed spinach, asparagus, broccoli, and white cheddar mac and cheese. I asked for medium plus but it did feel closer to medium- but still was a great steak. The spa day martini was refreshing and light. Our server was attentive to the point of us having multiple birthdays we celebrated and brought everyone their own dessert. The butter cake?? AMAZING!! I love this steakhouse. Masters lived up to the hype, exceeded my expectations. Food and service and ambiance was up to par. Steak was cooked perfectly! Very satisfied with my steak. The lobster sushi had big pieces of lobster, it was filling and flavorful. So far this steakhouse has the best sides made from scratch. Their sides like Mac and cheese, tasted freshly made, so cheesy and delicious. The potatoes were whipped to perfection and tasted freshly made. I was so impressed. Such a disappointing Mother's Day. Mastro's is my favorite resturaunt and I was looking forward to my favorite dish which is actually an appetizer. It was so disappointing. First off, our reservation were at 9:15. Someone called hours before and told up they would close at 9. We arrive early and the place was bustling with people. I'd expect it to be slow if you were going to close early but.....? Moving on, the scallop appetizer had such little sauce. This is my fave dish. I get it here in HTX, NYC and etc and it has never come out with this modicum of sauce. I'm not sure if it was just a portion thing due to the holiday or what but *sigh*. For entrees I ordered a filet and scalloped potatoes with creamed corn. The filet was cooked perfectly, creamed corn great also. The scalloped potatoes were not as delectable. It was as if the cheese was layered more so on top than in between. Like layers of potato with minimal cheese. All in all my worst experience at Mastro's. Maybe I should avoid coming on big holidays? My husband and I came on valentines day. We made a reservation online earlier that day. I believe this location was valet only because we couldn't find any parking whatsoever. Once we entered, there was a HUGE sea of people gathered at the entrance, which made it hard to get to the hostess stand. We let the hostess know that we had a reservation at 10pm and she informed me that the table wasn't ready and that there would be a 30-40 minute wait.......We said thats fine (did we really have a choice??) Once we were sat, we decided to skip the appetizers and went straight for the entrees. Our Order: *Pomegranate Martini - this was pretty refreshing, i really enjoyed it 9/10 *16oz New York Strip - honestly this steak was good, but nothing special. It came with a side of butter. I got it with bone marrow butter, which i enjoyed, and my husband got it with black truffle butter which was also good. 8.5/10 *Lobster Mac and Cheese - phenomenal, it was sooo cheesy and fresh. I would get this again 10/10 *Mashed Potatoes - mashed potatoes are a must when eating steak but these were a complete miss for me. They were not your typical creamy steakhouse mashed potatoes, these had chunks in it, which is fine if they were actually cooked.... Unfortunately the undercooked potato chunks weren't worth it for me. 6/10 *Baked Potato - my husbands go-to steak side, just like the mashed potatoes, this was also hard and undercooked. 6/10 Overall: this will not be my go-to steakhouse. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was just an off day due to the holiday rush, but we have had better experiences on the same day at other steakhouses. Also the patio seating is stunning with the waterfall wall and greenery. Also nice when it's a little chilly because they have above head warmers. The service is incredible: helpful, fast, and knowledgeable. The drinks are good and the portions are large! My friend ordered a lemon drop and they gave her the shaker which added up to about 2.5 drinks! The food is pretty good. I got the red snapper which I would rate a 7/10. This was my second time coming to Mastro's , and I have to say it never disappoints me. The first time was August 2022, and now January 2023. Once we arrived, our reservations were indicated for four instead of six, they were able to quickly accommodate us. When we first arrived, we had drinks at the bar with, sir Ivan. He was absolutely phenomenal, attentive, and definitely the go to bartender in that establishment. That man was absolutely breathtaking with the presentation of his cocktails, as well as knowledgeable with cocktails in general, and I cannot emphasize that enough. If you are ever at the bar, ask for Ivan! If you're seated, and you wanna cocktail, ask for Ivan, if he is there! Now, onto the entrées. My love had some steak, which I forgot to get a picture of it, with some lobster mac & cheese, we shared, as well as asparagus. I sure wish yelp with allow you to share videos, as you can see the true beauty of cocktails or As you can see here, I ordered the salmon, and a crabcake for an appetizer. the food was honestly phenomenal, and a true 10 out of 10. Our server was amazing and very helpful. For starters we had calamari and wagyu sushi and my dad orders the French onion soup and let me tell you, by far the best French onion soup I have had. The broth was amazing and the cheese was so delicious, 10/10. It was my first time having the Wagyu sushi and it was really good. I also ordered a gimlet, one of the strongest and most delicious gimlet I have ever had. My sister and I split the 12oz bone in steak and we ordered cream of corn and spinach to share. My dad had the Chilean sea-bass. The steak was like butter and when I took the first bite, i was in heaven. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and butter cake. Both were great, but, the butter cake stole the show. When I took the desired bite I was transported to my childhood and my grandmother's cake. This is a huge compliment. We got the seafood tower: jumbo shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, lobster tails, chilled red king crab claws and crab legs. Seafood heaven! The oysters were so tiny... but still good. You can't complain about lobster. The crab claws were juicy. After the seafood tower, I was so full. Then the steak came out... cooked to perfection! I've never had so many sides in my life: Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Wild Mushroom & Black Truffle Gnocchi, White Cheddar Lobster Mac & Cheese, Scalloped Potatoes, Asparagus and Black Truffle Sauteed Wild Mushrooms. The lobster mac had a good amount of lobster (for the price, I would hope so LOL). Gnocchi with mushrooms? What's there not to love! My favorite cocktail is the Key Lime Martini. It's my absolute favorite! I rave about it to everyone that'll listen haha. I would go to Mastro's JUST for the drinks. They used to have a salted caramel martini, but I'm sure they'll make it if you ask! My friend had an ube cocktail and it was refreshing. If I wasn't so full, I would've got one, too. There's an extensive wine list (they literally give you the encyclopedia of wines lol). The ambiance is dark and romantic; great for a date night. As soon as I walked in and heard the live music going and saw the decor, I knew I was in for a good time. We started with drinks. I ordered a gimlet which is probably the strongest gimlet I've ever had but it was really good. For appetizers we had the calamari and one of the rolls. Then we shared the 12oz bone in steak with creamed spinach and corn. The spinach wasn't as flavorful but the corn and steak was too notch. Our waiter was nice and paced our meals perfectly. I appreciated the extra touch of the manager calling the next day to ensure we had a great service. I will start by saying the bread basket is award winning. Just wow! Our party of 5 loved it. The Lobster Bisque and French onion soup is delicious! Sadly, my crab cakes were dry, overcooked, and not warm enough. I should have sent it back, but it took our server a while to come ask how the food was. (Busy Friday night) Also my husband's steak was not cooked properly, (he ordered medium) ..... he felt the same as I did and just ate it. The server never asked how the 3 steaks at the table were cooked, which I found unusual for a high end steak house. Also my husband had ordered off of the Houston Restaurant Week menu, and we are aware those are reduced portions. But his steak, compared to the 2 others at the table, was so much smaller it was almost comical. I'm sure our server would have made this right, but we were hungry, didn't want to keep waiting, and just rolled with it. The other food was good, and of course, the butter cake is award winning! Just a warning, the noise level is high here. In fact, we struggled to have conversations. Most likely, the ceiling in our area also contributed to that problem. Superb steakhouse near the Post Oak Hotel, where I stayed earlier this week. Had a work dinner here my first night in town. The red wines they served (a French burgundy and a Napa Cabernet) were very good, but what set them apart was the superb food. My favorite appetizer was a delightful Maple-glazed bacon bite. For my entrée, I had a filet (8 oz) which I requested medium rare (right choice!) - it was juicy and flavorful. Sides I tried were the truffle mushroom gnocchi and the sautéed wild truffle mushrooms - both were perfectly prepared. Dessert was an excellent key lime pie! Mastro's during Christmas time is the place to be! We had a very nice dinner here, although it was busy. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas time. The filet was good, but not great. Fortunately the sides were excellent and large portions. I'd definitely recommend the truffle mushroom gnocchi and lobster mashed potatoes. To wash it down, I'd recommend the Purple Mist (vodka, champagne, ube syrup) and their Elixir Sangria. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The parking is either valet or garage parking.
