Unfortunately we had a pretty bad experience here. My boyfriend ordered the sweet and spicy shrimp and I ordered the kale goddess salad with chicken. His shrimp was breaded but it was soggy and the breading came off the shrimp. My salad was terrible. Kale is really bitter and kind of dry already so without a proper dressing it just tasted like dry kale. It's a little confusing that the add ons were roasted pepper, corn, and black beans and the dressing was balsamic with Parmesan. It was lacking in corn, peppers, black beans and hardly had any dressing or Parmesan. For being around $22, I just expected it to taste like they put effort into making it. On top of this, our server disappeared most of the time (he was nice when he was present) but we waited almost an hour and a half for our food which was simply a salad, a bad salad at that, and soggy shrimp. Pretty bummed at how expensive it was and how poor quality the food and service was. There's a lot of good eateries in this area and this one is not great. This was my second time at bosscat, but the first time in a few years! My girlfriend and I walked in and were very interested in all of the decor! There was an old gas pump just in the middle of the outside eating area! We loved the style that this place was going for, we were immediately seated, not super busy even for dinner time! We were given ample time to look over the menu and our waiter was consistently checking in on us. Every question we had was answered very politely and with every answer we needed. The service getting our food out was fast and our dishes were super hot, so we knew it was fresh off the grill! My water was filled up probably 7 times throughout the course of our dinner, but it makes sense since it wasn't very busy. Such a wonderful experience having late lunch at Bosscat! I came here with my family to celebrate my graduation. As my commencement ceremony ended early, we made it to the restaurant way ahead of my scheduled reservation but they were happy to accommodate and seat us right away. The food was delicious!! We had the ribeye, 12hr short rib, costal white fish, spicy brick chicken, portobello mushroom fries, and fried pickles. Everything was perfect and we all finished our entire plates. The portions are very generous for the price and quality of the food. The service was also amazing. Our server Amanda was very attentive and made my graduation celebration extra special. They surprised me with a free ice cream + waffle dessert which was the perfect sweet treat. The ambiance is unmatched, great for aesthetic pictures. We were also lucky to have stumbled in during their happy hour from 3-6pm with great deals on drinks and food. Came in for Valentine's Day. Made a reservation and we were instantly sat. Charisse was our server, 11/10 rockstar service! She was very knowledgable about the menu with high energy and very cute bubbly personality. The inside was dark with a cool rustic whiskey theme. Had a cute photo op room as well as a big party table room decorated with whiskey bottles and barrels. Started off with her recommendations of ahi tuna wraps and spinach and artichoke egg rolls. Both were delicious! Easy to share and the red pepper creme sauce complimented the egg rolls. The Ahi tuna wraps were fresh. I'm not a big drinker, but my fiancé is, so after walking around the circle he wanted and beer so we stopped by here on a whim. We had a great time at the bar chatting with Jen and Kevin. The drinks I had were yummy, the beer was good, the vibe was chill, and when my fiancé ordered me the JT Bowl with ahi tuna by mistake, Jen rushed to the kitchen to get it fixed but it had already been made. I really had high expectations for this establishment because of its raving reviews. However, I feel really dissatisfied with the food. Came during brunch and was able to get sat right away. Service was a little bit slow, but I understand they were probably trying to prep before the night shift starts; although I'm not sure what would need to be prepped Regardless of slow service though, our server was extremely kind. I appreciated that. But anyways, I ordered the avocado toast while my boyfriend ordered the PB&J beignets. Keep in mind the foods we got were regular plain breakfast items. We waited a little over 15 minutes for just those two items. Personally I thought it was a little too long for just plain breakfast foods, but I understand. Avocado toast with "spicy shrimp": honestly a disappointment. Presentation was okay, but I didn't understand why the edible flowers were added onto the micro greens. The cherry tomatoes were also cut very unevenly, so the taste was off. The entire plate was just unseasoned. Only "seasoned" item was the "spicy shrimp". The spicy shrimp was more disappointing than the toast because I had really high expectations. I was thinking blackened jumbo shrimp with paprika/cayenne, but instead was your super tiny, fried rice kind of shrimp. Even the seasoning was off. Some were salted while some weren't. PB&J Beignets: Basically just imagine powdered donuts. That's how it tasted like. It wasn't like your Disney ones, not sure what went wrong there but the consistency and batter just seemed off. Two words: espresso martinis. Yes, they're a thing right now and for a good reason...they're delicious! Bosscat serves some creative cocktails and a variety of main dishes, sides, and desserts. We came on a weekday night and were shocked with wait time (about an hour wait to get a table). We put our name on the list anyway and mentioned that we'd wait at the bar area for a spot to open up. The bar area was also extremely packed, so we ended up sanding off to the side waiting for a table. We were figuring out our next destination when a server approached us saying that the bartender will take out drink orders and will hand us menus shortly. We were shocked! Not only did he come around to talk to us, the bartender walked all the way around the bar to take our orders. We were blown away by the friendly service. Just as we ordered our drinks, a table in the bar area opened up. We were greeted by yet another friendly staff that was patient with us in deciding what to get. Along with our nighthawk cocktails, we also got an order of their Bosscat fries. Their version of an espresso martini is made with their house made chocolate, which reminded me of a mocha. So good! Their fries were surprisingly good even though they are the thick steak fries kind. The fries weren't dry and they came out piping hot. Overall, I was blown away by the friendly service from everyone we talked to. The restaurant is a decent size, but can be filled up quickly. I can't imagine a more mid-dining situation than my recent meal here. Came for Mother's Day brunch and wow was the food underwhelming. Based on our waitress' recommendation, we started with the Totchos ($12) which are supposed to resemble nachos except with tater tots. It comes topped with Spanish chorizo, nacho cheese, jalapeños, and a fried egg. How this makes any sense as a brunch dish, I couldn't tell you. It more closely resembled something you'd want to eat if you had the drunk munchies. People seem to really like the short rib chilaquiles ($16) so we also gave it a go. The tortilla chips were heavily ladled with the mole which really dominated all the other flavors. It became a very mole-quile ensemble. After experiencing two duds in the first round, I went on to experience my third. For my entree, I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich ($18). It's a ham, turkey, smoked gouda sandwich that is deep fried in a cake-y batter; a marriage of sweet and savory. Alas, the ratios were all wack-a-do so the sandwich much more bread-cake-y than anticipated with little help from the savory insides which were minuscule in size. This just wasn't that good. Visited this place on a recommendation of a local and so glad I made the visit. The ambiance modern but interesting and cozy. The service was on point and I was taken care of from the moment I walked in to the time I left. Customer service was solid. As for the food, I didn't know what to expect but was anticipating good food with all the Yelp reviews and the Yelpers got it right! The food was delicious, cooked well, and overall had really good flavor. This is a definite must eat if you are in the area! And Devils cut ribeye that is aged in whiskey is a fantastic choice that you should consider as well! I really enjoyed the aged whiskey flavor and something different I had not had before. And I can't finish this review without saying, if you like Brussels sprouts, you have to give the maple butter sprouts a try! You won't be disappointed! This was my first time at Bosscat in their Orange, CA location. It was located in Old Town which is located near the traffic circle. Parking was not as easy to find as it's very busy. Upon my arrival we were greeted with a smile and although we had reservations we still had to wait. The Ambiance is very loud and busy. They have an outdoor patio area that is covered. The food and drinks were amazing. The beignets were so fresh and delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had dinner here on a Saturday night with some friends. It's been on our list to places to check out for a while. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere and creative menu. For my taste, the pig candy came in a fish sauce that has a potent smell and a little too salty for my liking but my husband loved it. I'm not a vegetarian, but the mushroom quinoa burger was tasty and didn't leave my feeling sluggish! Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. We got seated in a large booth that was able to seat all 5 of us comfortably. We started with the portobello mushroom fries which were battered and deep fried pieces of mushrooms served with a jalapeño dipping sauce. They were superb and I could've eaten the entire bowl to myself. We also ordered the California onion dip which was a bougie version of the store bought kind I had growing up. It had caramelized onions, whipped ricotta, garlic and served with warm round pretzel bites. The table ordered an array of entrees from the short rib, bbq salmon, citrus pasta and then I ordered the berry spinach salad with salmon. The salad was delicious, the vinaigrette was nice, light and tangy. It had bits of goat cheese throughout, sliced almonds, fresh strawberries and blueberries and then a generous portion of perfectly seared salmon. I'd recommend Bosscat if you're looking for a fun atmosphere with a big enough menu to please everyone in your group, including the pickiest of eaters. Came here for my husband's birthday, we ordered some appetizers and the spinach berry salad. Which was very tasty. My husband's favorite drink is an old fashion. He ordered one with his favorite whiskey and he said it was good, but It didn't have the Luxardo cherry in it. Which I mentioned to the waitress and she said "oh dear, I'll go get one" she never did. No biggie though. The ambiance is very nice warm and cozy. We were seated outside. The one negative for us was the music volume. It was very very loud, and the music was with a pounding beat that never changed in the tempo. I think I could understand that on a Friday and Saturday for a younger crowd, but we went on a Sunday night. Honestly I do not know how anyone could carry on a conversation with the volume as loud as it was. Checking in and getting seated was prompt and without issue even after we requested a different table. Our server, Katie K was an unbelievably excellent hostess. She was warm, friendly, handled all of our needs very quickly. All we had to do was ask once and she was on it, with a beaming smile on her face. Our orders came super fast despite it being a crazy busy night. The food itself was just amazing: Pineapple tequila cocktail - refreshing and sweet Pork belly poutine - would have liked more gravy but it was super tasty Pulled pork hush puppies - delicious Bread/butter - nom nom Fries - these are a must! Tried Bosscat for the first time. Such a great restaurant. The ambiance is cool. The service was excellent. Dishes we tried are the Salmon - so good ! But didn't like the succotash it came with. The Shrimp and grits were great too. The brick chicken was just ok. It was a little dry. The warm crispy country bread is to die for. Never had anything like it. The ambience is very trendy and social. It can get a bit crowded if you sit at the bar becauseee many people hovered over ordering drinks and standing close enjoying their drink. Take heed! The bartenders were great! They were bombarded with drinks but were still helpful. I ordered the portobello mushroom fries; the presentation nice. The jalapeno sauce saved the barely seasoned mushroom fries. The onion dip os divine! The pretzels were a bit overdone but the combination was really good. UPDATE: I FOUND A HAIR IN MY SANDWICH. We are so extremely disappointed in all of the food that we got - we ordered the nachos with chicken, the pork chop burger sandwich, and the crispy chicken sandwich. All of it was just not good to put it simply. The nachos were extremely strange. There was teriyaki sauce, shredded carrots, a tiny bit of cheese and edamame. This is what they call nachos???? They also didn't tell us that it was an additional 8 dollar charge to add chicken in which we only got a handful measly pieces of chicken. The pork chop burger sandwich that was so extremely dry. It tasted like missing people. The fried chicken sandwich was again terribly subpar. The chicken tasted like the chicken nuggets from McDonald's and adding the cole slaw in there just made it so salty they also didn't have ranch so they gave me a cilantro dressing. The fries also had no seasoning or salt on them. It was just fried strips of potato. Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse we chose this place to have my birthday dinner at in which they gave us a dessert which was a piece of waffle and ice cream on the top. The waffle was black and burnt!!!!!! The food was incredibly mediocre and expensive for what you get - will not be coming back!
