Stay away. I wanted to support a small locally owned independent business, but he's a crook. I brought in my grandmother's art deco ring to get an estimate to replace one of the two synthetic sapphires, which was cracked, cloudy and not the same color at the other. He said $45. Great, I left the ring and he said in a few days he would have it ready. A week later, I called to be sure it was ready before going in. He said he ordered the new stone, but it broke, and so and so was on vacation or something. I asked when I should come in again. He said two days. I went back in and he was delighted to tell me "Oh, I was able to put a real sapphire in it looks beautiful!" I asked how much, he said $65. I told him he should have called me if the price was going to go up before he did the work. I didn't want to pay more, further I wanted it to match the synthetic stone - genuine vs. synthetic has a big color difference. He tested me and asked if I could tell which one was synthetic - I correctly pointed it out the synthetic. I told him to take it out and do what I asked for $45. He huffed and gave me a big attitude.
I went back four days later and he pulled out the ring and was delighted to tell me he put in a genuine stone - again. I looked exactly the same as the real and synthetic stone set up he showed me before. I said it was not what we talked about and he said "Oh but it's real and it looks better." It did not. I pressed and said we talked about this, I wanted synthetic to match the color, this doesn't match at all. He said he could not get the synthetic. I said I'm done, give me my original stone, take this out and I'm done. He said "That is your original stone." So he tried to up charge me and pass off my original synthetic stone as real TWICE, no repairs, did nothing but try to take advantage of me. All he did was waste my time and treat me like I was an idiot.
