If you value honesty, communication, and follow-through in a jeweler - KEEP LOOKING! My fiancé chose to work with Serge for my engagement ring. At first, it was a wonderful experience. The issues began when he picked up the ring. Serge had dropped a family stone on the ground during the initial consultation, couldn't find it, and promised to have it at the time the ring was complete. When my fiancé picked up the ring, Serge handed him a different colored stone and only when confronted about it, did he inform my fiancé he was unable to find the one he dropped. Thus, he attempted to cover it up with a different stone and say nothing. Strike 1. Additionally, he promised a lighted ring box though had none in stock when the ring was complete. Told my fiancé to get one off Amazon instead. Quite annoying. Strike 2. After the proposal, I wanted to change the setting of my ring, so we went back to Serge who promised he could provide what we wanted. I showed him photos of what I wanted, picked a setting he had on display with plans to add additional diamonds to each side. He stated he had made the ring before and it would be no problem; gave us a timeline of 2 weeks for this. We called the day before to ensure it would be ready on Wednesday, and he said the ring wasn't ready, he needed extra time, but it would be ready on Monday. Strike 3. When we went to pick it up, it was wrong. He never added the diamonds onto either side, and was shocked when I asked where they were. He told me to give him an hour and he would have this completed. However, the diamonds he was going to use and the technique he offered was completely different than what I had asked for. He told me I never asked for that, he would've made the ring completely differently, etc.- it wasn't until I showed him the photo of what I asked for that he remembered what he was supposed to do. Then told us he would have to remake the entire ring and would've done it "differently" if he had known what I wanted. However, he DID know, and confirmed that once we showed him the picture. Strike 4! We took the ring home to decide what we wanted to do. When my fiancé called Serge to tell him about how displeased we were with the previous issues, he told us "you get 3 strikes, I'll change the ring once more then you have to pay". A hideous response to customers asking for assistance, especially due to mistakes made by the jeweler (who is on actually strike 4 if we're counting). We decided to have the stone placed back into the original setting (which cost more than the new setting), and asked him to appraise it for us. When we picked up the ring, the appraisal wasn't complete. Unfortunately, there were other customers in the store at that time and Serge gave no reasoning for why it wasn't completed, said he would mail it out to us. My fiancé was furious but Serge was unwilling to have a conversation about it as he gestured towards the customers in his store. Strike 5! I called myself to inquire about why the appraisal wasn't done. He claimed to have no prior knowledge that he was supposed to do that, despite my fiancé speaking directly with him earlier that day. Also kept calling my fiancé by the wrong name, which was a nice touch. We went back the next day to pick up the appraisal and he told us he would make the ring we want, that he "could make things that would blow your mind". Unfortunately we were instead mind blown by the lack of organization, attention to detail, and lackluster customer service. Definitely do not recommend using this jeweler if you value honesty. He also told us "I promise I'm a good guy" , but unfortunately lacked the ability to prove this. Buyer beware. read more

I had an amazing experience with Serge! His work is very professional and he is very helpful and honest. The diamond in my engagement ring had a chip in it and Serges helped me with finding a claim, he dealt directly with the insurance company and had my diamond fixed so I was able to buy it back. The claim paid for a replacement diamond and I redesigned my ring. Serges worked with me on the new custom design until we got it to what I wanted. He was very patient as well. I went to this jeweler with an insurance check for $4,000.00 to replace a lost pendant. I trusted him as he came recommended by a professional friend Turns out there are 2 Serge's Jewelers in the jewelers building well I went to the wrong one. He put one diamond on the counter he did not show me the stone under the microscope but I trusted my friend. I asked him about a graph and he said there was no such thing. Alarms should have gone off. I took it to two other jewelers including in Toodie's for an appraisal. They said it was worth maybe 1,000. And would not have it in their stores. Totally cloudy on the top When I confronted Serge he said 'get a lawyer'. Beware of this crook. He's degrading and insulting. So I'm out $4,000. I've reported him the BBB. read more

My wife and I went to Serge's 6 months before our wedding. I bought the engagement ring elsewhere but decided to try Serge's for our bands. We picked out what we liked, my wife wanted floating diamonds all the way around and I chose a titanium ring for myself. He quoted us a 3 week time frame for it to be ready. I called after a month and he told us it would be ready in another week. I called weekly and he kept pushing it back. Finally after 3 months it was ready. My wife's ring couldn't have looked any different then what we had asked for. Each diamond had prongs around it instead of floating. After explaining this AGAIN to Serge he said he would fix it, which he did but took another month. The end result did look good but the hassle involved was unforgiveable. Especially becaue not once did he call to explain why it was taking so long and would duck all my messages, only answering me when I called the store and got him to answer. A week ago my wife decided she wanted to change her engagement band from 6 prongs to 4. Again we didn't buy the engagement ring from Serge. I decided to call 6 places in the Jewelry building to get quotes for the pricing. I did call Serge thinking that since we were previous customers he might quote us a lower price. He quoted 5-600 hundred dollars to change the prongs. NO OTHER place even quoted us 500 and we got it done for 300 at a different store. How do you come in at the very top of the price range when we were previously customers there? To be honest I wasn't planning on using him again anyway due to the hassle regarding our wedding rings but this just re-confirms why I will never shop there again. read more

A diamond is a commodity and it is easy to buy if you use websites like pricescope.com or bluenile.com to determine the market price of the diamond you are looking to purchase. It is amazing the markup that some jewelers add on. Picking out the diamond is easy to me but finding a reputable and flexible jeweler is the most important thing you can do. I worked with Serge on an engagement ring and wedding set. He was very flexible to work with throughout the process. We ended up switching out our engagement ring for another style and Serge was great when he allowed us to return the old setting without penalty or cost. We then used some of the gold from a family wedding ring that we had and Serge was able to melt down part of the old ring and he included that gold into our wedding band. This creativity and flexibility is very hard to find in the jewelry business. Serge is honest, offers fair prices and will definitely work with you during the process.
