Update: I checked beforehand with them that my Cigna eye care insurance was honored, but as it turned out, they billed my AETNA medical insurance for the exam, not my CIGNA, and so I was stuck with the cost of the whole exam - the most I have ever paid for my annual contact exam/renewal, ever. CIGNA did not know why they did not run the exam through them but since they didn't, I am out of luck. I will never use Botwin again. read more

Had a good interaction with the doctor who helped updated my prescription. My previous doctor disappeared into thin air and so I had to find a new doctor. The previous doctor took about ten minutes to do my exam. Selected a pair of frames and was told $350 with transitions lenses , went in with my prescription after double cataract surgery else where , and was quoted $750 plus, mentioned tge $350 quote, selected spring loaded hinges , got the opposite, said something ,, was told too bad , said 'I'll see you in court' . Was then told by ray ok , same size in height lenses no cost to you a total ofc8 weeks later . Dr. Jonathan Botwin is very professional and his staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The equipment utilized for eye exams is definitely high-end and up-to-date. Staff can help find the best style and color for you, based on the shape of your face and coloring. They are opening a second facility downtown, which is good for folks working there. Right now, the practice is on St. Michael's across from the hospital. The waiting room is nicely furnished in leather and there is a large, flat screen television for those who wish to watch. Restrooms are clean and simple. I would have given this very attractive practice 5 stars, but the wait is just too long. Rather than filling out paperwork each time, use an iPad for patients to initiate or upgrade records. read more

The eye exam itself was good, however it took about 4months to get my glasses. It was claimed that I was sent a text which was never received. A text was sent on the spot to my phone and l got i. while I was offered apology for the inexplicable delay l feel their system could have detected that there was a pair of glasses unclaimed. I found the perfect frames at the Water St store after years of looking. There were actually several that were good. The service was great. The were very expensive - thus only 4 stars. I had not had an eye exam in about a decade (I know, shame on me) I had no clue where to go for a routine exam when a friend suggested the Botwin Eye Group. Walking into their waiting room I was immediately greeted by one of their friendly receptionists. It did not take long for my name to be called and I went to meet with one of the technicians and then Dr. Jeremy Botwin. Although I was nervous the exam went very smoothly. Their offices are decorated beautifully and they have ultramodern equipment. Dr. Botwin was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The staff in the optical section helped me find the perfect pair of computer glasses. I was also pleased when checking out that I had an inexpensive co-payment through Davis Vision. Went in to buy a new pair of glasses. I was the only costumer in the store when I arrived and had chosen the glasses I wanted by the time others had arrived. While waiting for someone to take measurements and charge us for the glasses one of the associates took my very expensive designer glasses that I already owned to straighten them. She then broke them and took no real initiative to fix them. We were still waiting for someone to help me buy the other ones and instead the other 5 workers decided to take new costumers. I left without being able to buy glasses and my favorite pair completely broken. I asked for a manager and the only response was she wasn't there. read more

It's a very nice office with very nice staff. However, you aren't really able to try on glasses, everything is bolted down or put away in drawers. I would rather be patted down before leaving and have the ability to try on frames without asking them to release from lock and chain. Then there's the prices. God awful high prices. However, my husband got what he wanted and on time. I however, waited and went elsewhere, it was just too expensive for my taste. He go just new lenses and I believe it was around $400-$500 but he had no choice and needed them now. read more

This was my first visit. I found the atmosphere somewhat cold and hospitable from the moment I walked in. When I met Dr. Botwin, I understood the reason why. Without a personal word to me, he did a number of checks and dilated me, but when I told him I needed a renewal of a script I had been taking for 25 years, he told me he couldn't do that and I would have to go to the other location for a work up. It was not a friendly conversation; in fact, I found him uncaring and hostile. I left without the prescription renewal and still needing to find another doctor. It was a complete waste of my time. He might simply have asked the purpose of my visit. read more

Had a great first time visit today. Requested 2 different types of contacts (daily & 2 week) and the doctor had no problem giving me test contacts and a script for both. He made sure to tell me that the follow up exam is included and advised not to buy boxes until I know if I like the trail pairs. The office looked great and iPads were in use through out. I will be back for my follow up and in a year! Not sure why the other reviewers gave low ratings for bad scripts on contacts as they give you test pairs. If you can not see then do not buy boxes of them and go back for the included follow up. read more

I forewent what I thought would be a less expensive eye exam at Costco simply because I needed a contact lens prescription asap. The office was beautiful, clean and appealing. The office staff, despite being a bit discombobulated because the internet was down, was cordial and helpful, but most of all, my tech and Dr. Josh (or Jacob - I have a hard time remembering his name) were great. They took plenty of time and took care of my 54 year old eyes, fitting me with mono vision contacts that feel good. And I get to wear them for a couple of weeks to see what works. Best of all? The cost for this astigmatic contact wearer was only $238! Less than Costco's exams, and much nicer. I have nothing but praise for these guys. I'll write another review after my follow up. read more

After walking in off the street and spending over $500 for frames and $225 for lenses. I returned home and emailed the office my prescription that day. The lens type was discussed in the store and a selection made. After a few days I emailed to confirm receipt of my prescription and check on the progress, again, no response. A few days later I called and spoke to the salesperson I'd dealt with and was told the email I sent did not have the prescription attached. That's all happened to us but my sent mail shows it attached? and no reply from them in junk mail either? We then reviewed over the phone my prescription and was told I'd hear back soon to confirm everything, no call. A few days later I call and Dr. Botwin answers and we review my order. I'm told he needs to discuss with the sales person and I'll hear back shortly. Which I do from the sales person. He confirms everything and reviews again my lens choices and we select the same ones as chosen at the initial meeting. I'm then told they will be ready in a week. So, it all comes down to poor/no after the sale communications. I wonder what my status would be if I hadn't reached out 4 times? I would suggest getting a recommendation from someone local and dropping your $700 +/- somewhere else. read more

Yesterday I had one of the most thorough eye examinations I have ever had, and this is over 50 years of vision correction and includes 20+ years of care at an academic medical center.
