Well I had a great experience 8 years ago with my 5 star review; it is with a heavy heart that I am lead to updating to 1 star. Purely based on service at 8am opening. Coordinated with a friend to meet here for breakfast at eight. The place was indeed open and there appeared to only be one person working and he was in the back as it appeared. He arrived a little bit before eight as I was waiting in the parking lot. I took a seat and looked over the menu, which is quite extensive. Had an idea of what I wanted to order and my friend arrived and we talked for a while and no service until 8:25 AM when we decided to go elsewhere. Another couple had come in while I was there and left in about 10 minutes with the same experience. Maybe it was just people called in sick but I can only review what I experience and it was very disappointing. No words from the person that was there saying I'll be with you soon or it'll be a few minutes. I hope others have better experiences than I. read more

TLDR: 2 Stars, only because the food was decent and the waitress was nice. Billing practice is shady So yesterday I took a dip by Mimosas in San Jose. I've been there once before years ago and thought it was decent. So yesterday, the food was fine, but nothing memorable, no biggie. So we got the bill, noticed the charges, and while I thought it was a little questionable, but fine. I paid with card. The waitress came back with the receipt for me to sign, in which I realized the price on the receipt isn't the price on the bill. She overheard me talking to my guy about it and mentioned that it was the system that automatically up charges if a CC is used. Now I'm not against the policy, if I was made aware of it. But I think this is sneaky practice to bill someone one total and charge them another without proper notice. I would not recommend. The meat in my tacos was stone cold. I sent it back only to discover the beans were sour. Overall I was extremely disappointed. Loved the Mimosa but that Crab and Shrimp omelette just did not hit the right chords. I have had much better breakfast omelettes. It was cold and they had the ceiling fans on full blast and the back door open. It wasn't hot enough for all that at 8am. The food was mediocre. Brought my sister in law for her 21st bday breakfast and everyone enjoyed the food, the service, the hip vibe with nice music, and specially the Super Mimosa. She chose the mango flavor one. Staff came to sing the happy bday song to the "mimosita" and made her feel very special. We had the huecos rancheros, and the Mexican skillet. I ordered via Doordash. We ordered 3 meals & 2 18oz orange juices. They forgot the syrup for pancakes, chocolate sauce for chocolate pancakes & my sour cream and salsa for my breakfast burrito. The orange juice is advertised as 18oz but they're using 12oz cups. I measured the cups myself, I'm not assuming based on looks. The price was already steep but I let it slide because I was craving OJ. But to provide 1/3 less than what is advertised is a rip off. I messaged them on Facebook regarding my complaint but they never responded even though it shows they viewed the message. I followed up 6 days later with no response again(it's been another 2 days since I sent the last message). Very poor customer service & the food was so bland for the cost. Very underrated breakfast/brunch place in South San Jose. Food here is very flavorful and portions are on the generous side. I never leave here feeling hungry...their menu is huge too. Wide variety of breakfast usuals and burgers/sandwiches. Most entrees are in the $15-$20 range; which is same range as places in San Jose such as Bill's and Scramblz. I always get the chicken fried steak plate. It comes with a chicken fried steak (very tender), a huge biscuit with gravy, 2 eggs and country potatoes. I also like the pancakes here, they are huge. Very sweet too...it eats like a dessert almost! If you came here to drink, they got you covered! Lots of different mimosas, chavelas, and other drinks. They have a good selection of hard liquor too. Their famous super mimosas is $35! Ambiance wise, it's comfortable but a little dark inside. It sits in a tiny strip mall with very limited parking. If you don't know the area, it may be easy to miss. Service is also hit or miss too. I never had "horrible" service but there have been times when it definitely could have been better. We came here on a Saturday afternoon, were immediately seated and had our food brought out to us fairly quickly. This place is known for their gigantic mimosas (need to come back for one of them) but they also have great brunch options. I got the Mexicali Benedict with no chorizo (sub mushrooms and spinach for no additional cost). It was pretty good, and I highly recommend trying the country potatoes since they were seasoned perfectly. We came here on recommendation from one of my colleagues, as we were driving from San Jose down to Monterey for a work trip. It was a Monday around noon, and it was pretty crowded for a Monday, but then I remembered it was President's Day holiday. For some. Anyway, the food was good, but not GREAT, and I wouldn't make a special trip for it. They do have a great mix of American and Mexican options, so everyone can find something they like. That's, however, why I think it was not great - it's hard to do both really well. But I think people come here to day drink, so that's probably why it's popular. I think I got the breakfast burrito. This place is ok. I wouldn't recommend it for food but the mimosas are fine with a lot of flavor options. There's a 1 hr time limit (which I understand bc every brunch place has time limits but an hour felt short) and they make it very clear they want you to leave without verbally asking you to once that hour is up. The staff are friendly and the bathroom is clean but they're not very attentive and forgot an orange juice that was ordered. We got two large mimosas, two steak and egg meals, chicken fried steak, berry French toast, banana walnut waffles and "chicken" and bacon waffles. The French toast and banana walnut waffles were good. The chicken fried steak was a large size but the biscuit that came with it was dry, it all around lacked flavor. The steak and eggs had barely any seasoning on it. I will note the hash browns were perfect. I honestly laughed when the chicken and bacon waffle came out. Four very small sized chicken pieces that were over cooked and rubbery, however it was better seasoned than the other items and there was a reasonable amount of bacon in the waffle itself. The mimosas were good and came with a couple slices of fruit. I don't think it was worth the $220 (w tip) cost for the quality but it was still a fine brunch place to go to with extra large mimosas. Wouldn't go back, wasn't worth the trip from Oakland but would probably recommend to friends who just want that brunch aesthetic who already live in San Jose. read more

Came here on a Sunday, but for dinner because we knew we couldn't handle the infamous wait time. I came a bit after opening for dinner (around 4:15pm). Dinner is CASH ONLY and there's a liquor store or 7-11 nearby to grab money from. There seemed to be only one person working in the beginning, then another server came by towards the end of our meal. Things seemed to be hectic for our server because he was also the bartender and table cleaner. Even though we came at dinner time and there was a dinner menu, we asked if we can order breakfast food, and they said yes! We got the lychee mimosas, a steak omelette, and hot chilaquiles. The drinks are quite big, look at our hands! (or do we have small hands? ) They're around $9. We were considering the famous giant mimosa but since it was jus the two of us, we didn't want to get to turnt. However, we saw a couple nearby us order one of those, finish it, and order additional mimosas for themselves. I felt a slight buzz but it went away after I ate my dish. One thing is, though.... the mimosas were room temperature. Maybe even a bit warm? For the food, the hot chilaquiles are HOT. I can handle my spice well, and this had me sweating. I love how flavorful their potatoes were and this dish is definitely something you can share or eat for two meals because the portions were BIG. For the steak omelette, it was a simple but tasty omelette. We ate it with Tabasco sauce. Cleanliness was questionable, specifically indoors and the bathroom (the inside had a weird musty smell) but the outside tables and chairs were okay. The tables weren't cleaned when I came so they were cleaned as we sat down. Overall, I think the experience was nice for a brunch in SJ and the mimosas were tasty. The servings were so big! They have nice outdoor seating and once we were seated I ended up ordering: *mango mimosa - this was strong and delicious and the cool thing was that the mimosa came in many different flavors which was awesome! *chilaquiles - this came with eggs and chorizo and salsa and cheese and I really enjoyed this! Came on a Saturday morning and it was surprisingly empty in here so we were sat and attended to very quickly. The food didn't take too long to get to the table after we ordered and the mimosa was faster. The mimosa definitely has a strong champagne taste so if you really hate the alcohol flavor it may not be for you but I personally wished I had one of my own when I tried it. The food was great omelette was very filling and the avocado that went on top was perfectly ripe. Usually I find omelettes fall apart easily or aren't very flavorful but this one stayed together and made for a perfect tasty bite. I chose the potato's which I loved they had just the right amount of veggies; I don't believe the menu says what's in the potatoes but to me it was easy to tell they're made with chorizo.
