Visited Boudin again today and yet again disappointed. Don't get me wrong the food is good, but the restaurant itself is filthy. They were out of ice and the drink dispensers were not working, but they were still selling drinks and not telling you their equipment was working. The shelf with the condiments Hot Sauce, Ketchup etc. was empty. The drink area floors rug etc., looked as if it was cleaned up for days. They cleaned the tables (barely) as customers left, however they did not clean they floors at all. Come on Boudin, disappointed yet again! read more

I went to grab some lunch today here. I only have 30 mins. The cashier who took my order noticed I had not received my lunch after 20 mins. So the server, who I hope was a manager, gave me a full refund. I was so impressed by her gesture. She handled with class and ease. Shout out to her and the gentleman who noticed. I would definatly recommend this restaurant. They sent me back to work with the lunch I ordered, and a soup. All for free. I'm in shock that I didn't pay for a thing. a soda "ON THE HOUSE", a tasty california veggie and a mediocre tuna salad sandwiches AND... an awesome bowl of beef chili in their sourdough bread just made our lunch satisfying before shopping at the The Village. a nice toasted bread will go well with the veggie and tuna, so we asked the cashier to have it toast and he considered it as a "special interest." the young-looking wait staff was noticeably not keen enough to bring our food to the table. i have to go after him to tell him that it was our order. the beef chili that was shared was very delicious, topped with chopped onions and shredded american cheese. when mixed, the cheese melted pleasantly and resulted to a favorable stringy form. the sandwiches: california veggie was beautifully made that it looked mouth-watering that a lady who was in-line asked me what kind of sandwich i was devouring AND of course, it was also lusciously tasty it was the agreeable havarti cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, vinagairette dressing and other good stuff which i can't remember. about the tuna salad on a sourdough bread, it was uninteresting and pretty arid. it will definitely not to be ordered again. all carbed-out, i have massive amount of calories to burn around The Village which i didn't mind. the only reason we got the soda for free was because we were standing for a good 10mins in-line to order our food. read more

First time to Boudin and disappointed. Three of us ordered beers that was supposed to come out with our meal. The meals came out I asked about the drinks and the server just pointed me back to the front counter, went back to the young man upfront and he said they were supposed to bring the drinks that he's not old enough to serve. He went to the server station for help and debated back and forth with our server that she needed to serve the beers. She refused (also seemed to be a language barrier) he then went to the back looking for more help. In the mean time people that were waiting in line began to leave. Help finally came and we got our drinks. The meal was good enough but we happened to be sitting with a view through the doors leading to the back and it was noticeably dirty. Also watched a woman (normal street clothes) walk in with a half a cantaloupe come in from the back door walk into the kitchen, just odd bringing cut up fruit from outside into the back. Lastly the same woman helped herself to a drink but didn't like the first lid and just tossed it on the pile of dirty dishes got a new one and walk out to a waiting van. I remember when The Village used to be a good, honest, slightly upscale shopping center. Now it seems that the last 10 years have brought an unfortunate change to the mall, paralleling the large change in occurring in Marin county in that same time. The Village has always been The Town Center's wealthier neighbor; yet it was the type of neighbor who knew to be polite, and not use its status to selfishly embarrass the nice people next door in front of the neighborhood. Just like Marin, The Village has become increasingly trendy, pretentious, and painfully hyper-materialistic (I know it's a mall) a la Orange County. Where decent, reasonable shops used to exist now stand the facades of 'Juicy Couture' and 'True Religion'. The space where a standard, comfortable, and inexpensive food court used to stand now houses 'Anthropologie' (sic). The only choices now presented to hungry shoppers are the mediocrity and excessive wait of 'The Cheesecake Factory', or Boudin. I have to say that I don't mind Boudin, it is a local chain that serves enjoyable, quick meals. Boudin's food is a good choice if you need something fast, given the fact that The Village's owners have decided to make it the only choice. The food is not anything remarkable, but beats typical fast food burgers and fries (when not in the mood for something heavy and greasy.) Be forewarned, the one time that I did eat here included a wilted, odd tasting salad accompanied by chattering NeuvoMarinite teenagers perched two feet to the right of my table. Often crowded, occasionally messy, culinarily satisfactory, Boudin will have to do for now. I remember the days when Marin County wasn't anywhere close to becoming Orange County part II - Northern Edition. How I miss them. read more

Ok kids...i know the food is pretty good but did anyone read the review in the IJ regarding health codes? I used to work there and can say they did an ok job but there was no regulating certain things. They pride themselves on being a "family" company and publicize themselves as that but they are the most corporate and disgusting company I know. This place is always consistent and the service has always tried to do the right thing. Main point of this yelp: Frankie Today was the third time I have been here and had the pleasure of service from Frankie. He is very personable, accommodating and makes sure he takes care of you. I've been here enough to know this is not always an easy crowd to please, but I have never seen him loose his professional demeanor or sense of humor. When the bread is not spoiled, it is great. However, I moved from CA and when I was back for a visit, I brought home 6 loaves of their NON-refrigerated take n bake sourdough. I put them in the freezer, used them over a 3-month period. So far, so good - or NOT. last week I went to defrost one of the remaining loaves and it was GREEN with mold. Thinking it was just that one, I took out the remaining loaf - it was GREENER than the last. I sent them an email. No reply. I waited close to a week and called. I finally got hold of someone in their front office who told me "we have never had a complaint like this before!" No apology, no offer of replacement coupons, just "you can go onto our website, we ship bread!" I then wrote them and said that the least they could do was offer free shipping, free bread or something. NO REPLY. they do not care at all about their customers. read more

Lucky me for having this as a local bakery. Great breads, of course! We make it our Sunday evening stop and really are impressed to see the hard working staff even at near closing time! This Sunday, after a long rainy weekend, folks came in tired and wet and some grumpy. I work in the mall and I've given this place many chances. It has always been sub par, though I don't expect anything else from a quick stop eatery. I went in for lunch today and ordered a salad without the meat. I asked if this would be a problem and I was told it was fine. Lo and behold, while eating my salad I found multiple pieces of chicken. They seemed to be discretely mixed in, not enough to be a full order. I don't eat meat for ethical reasons, and was disgusted by this discovery. Frustrated but not irate, I went in to ask why this happened. I was given a very non empathetic apology and an offer for a new salad. I declined, as this has actually happened multiple times now. No offer for a refund or anything other than a "see you soon!" I definitely won't be going back. read more

This is ridiculous. I waited 40 minutes for my food while all the people around me got their food only to be told that the tomato soup was not hot. Whenever I'm in town I always get a hankering for some sourdough and Boudin always obliges. Sometimes when I come to this location it's busy and hopping. Today when I arrived about an hour before closing it wasn't to crazy and I was able to get a booth seat by the window. I always enjoy the soup or chili bowls which are the perfect size to save your diet from going completely overboard. Perfect location near the end of the outdoor mall makes it easy to get in and out. read more

Take out order for ten for an office lunch meeting. I tried to order online twice, their website gave me an error message twice after taking all the time to enter ten different orders. I called about 2 1/2 hours in advance and gave the order over the phone. Picked it up, everything seemed great, got it to the office, half the order was missing. I called and spoke to the manager, who asked if I wanted to credit my card. With ten hungry captive employees, half with no food? She didn't offer to deliver it, even though they do delivery. I had to drive all the way back to the cafe, pick it up and deliver it to my hungry, disappointed co-workers in the last five minutes of their meeting. I like the food, the fact that they are local. Food is good, but don't eat the pastries. No glass case to protect the delicious looking desserts from FLIES! Customer service is hit or miss, but lately they have been exceptionally GREAT. Many complaints on the Baguette being so hard, causing the roof of your mouth to bleed. When eating the baguette burger, the trick is to flip the top baguette (soft side up). Enjoy! read more

Boudin's at The Village has satisfied my soup and bread bowl addiction since high school. Now, each time I come home, Boudin's is a definite staple when meeting up with old friends for a quick lunch. I almost always order a chili bread bowl with extra cheese and onions. It has yet to fail me. The chili is always warm and tasty with melted gooey cheese mixed within. The bread is soft and not too airy - perfect for dipping into the chili bowl. A negative is that I've noticed the bread bowls have gotten a bit smaller over the years. Boudin's was renovated a few years ago and has since been more of a restaurant-style, rather the small food court area that it once was. The menu offers a large variety and the service is good. There is sometimes a long line and no seating available, especially on rainy days, but usually you can find a seat after waiting a few minutes. It is also fun to watch the bakers shape the bread into a variety of shapes - turtles, teddy bears, the golden gate bridge, butterflies... Overall, a perfect meal for a cold day or after a long day of shopping! read more

The kids grilled cheese is hit or miss as sometimes the bread is too crispy for my kids to enjoy. Coming from Muir Woods me and a friend decided to stop here. We came in, the woman at the counter does not know her menu very well, she is an older woman, with glasses and an accent. I could understand her, however, she couldn't seem to understand what I was asking of she. She did not know what was on the menu nor did she know what she was doing. I paid over 10 dollars for my meal for my food to be given to me in such a tasteless way. I ordered the Italian sandwich with a side Cesar salad and the sandwich itself was not worth the price. Arrived at this restaurant 45 minutes before closing on a Wednesday night, and the food couldn't have been fresher - it was as if we walked in 5 minutes after they opened! We were taken care of by the manager and he couldn't have been nicer. Best crab sandwich I've ever had. When I worked nearby I would go there once a week for the crab sandwich. I would get cravings for it... still do. They have a frequent buyers card that you can use if you eat here regularly and register the card online. You get a free loaf of their french bread once a month and after so many meals, you get some reward dollars you can redeem (5 dollars I think.) I don't work nearby anymore so I haven't had my crab sandwich fix in a couple of months. It's a great lunch place and always packed... so sometimes you have to wait for a table. I was very disappointed with my last visit. I ordered a turkey/ bacon/ Brie sandwich. I ate it right when they gave it to me and it was cold. The cheese which was supposed to be melted had hardened and the bacon wasn't warm either. And it was so salty that it was horrible. Usually I am happy with their food and love the bread. read more
