This is Cajun for people whose only exposure to Louisiana is having a neighbor that flies an LSU flag on football Saturdays. This place fries everything in the same oil, and old oil at that. Hush puppies have a vague fish flavor, fish has a vague fried pickle flavor. Even the mushy fries taste like fish. Tartar sauce has been sitting out all day and the mayonnaise in it has turned bad. If you are in the mood for this kind of food, go to Pappadeaux's. They're not Cajun, either, but they have high quality standards and their food tastes good. This a go-to favorite joint of mine when I'm home visiting the family. There's really nothing that special about the place. Its an open, order at front then find a table, type restaurant. Food is a little expensive for what you get. But damned if I don't enjoy their food. Their menu is changes periodocially (I dont make it home that often) but I always get the same things: Fried Chicken tenders (delicious, moist pieces of chicken with amazing breading), fried gator (nice and chewy) with dirty rice. My parents usually get a fish, gumbo combo that they are always pleased with. This is a great lunch place or post-game place to grab a great meal. read more

I order take out here a lot when I'm in the area working. They have always been really friendly and I appreciate the good customer service. I mostly order the Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad, Seafood Fondu or Boudin balls. All are really good. I love their Remaulade Dressing. Prices are good and the place is usually busy. Just got back from Boudreaux's with a few co-workers. It's some yummy cajun food! You order at the counter and are given a number. You get your drinks at the softdrink/water fountain and you sit yourself at the tables. This makes it a lot easier if you have a large group with you and you just simply don't have to deal with separate checks or breaking up the bill and splitting it between multiple credit cards. This is basically like cafeteria style, but the food is definitely better and the place is very, very clean. When your number is called, you go pick up your food which is placed in a tray. I ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo (under $7). It comes with a healthy slice of garlic bread. The gumbo was really good! The seafood was crab meat (huge lumps!), crawfish tails, and shrimp. It had great cajun seasoning and was a tad bit spicy. It's typical gumbo - the rice, the okra, the seafood, the cajun spices, etc. very very yummy. but i have to say, the best dish there was the crawfish etouffe!!! The fiance and a few others had it, and so I had a bite of it. First, a half order for under $9 is plenty enough for someone to be full. I would only order the full order if you plan to share the other half. There was just something about the crawfish etoufee....definitely the best in texas that I had tried! If I'm being honest, the food wasn't all that bad. The 'order at the front then take a number' approach works nicely. The woman who took my order was friendly, courteous, and explained many of the entrées with ease. The food was fresh and enjoyable. I ordered the stuffed jumbo shrimp, which I would recommend to anyone. But why 3 stars? A casual 'come as you are' restaurant in Texas should have a better portions to price ratio. The pecan pie is ok also; I used to like it best served hot with ice cream, but they don't serve ice cream anymore:(. Yee-haw good! ; ) Food is far from cafeteria taste though served cafeteria style. Lots of dishes & combos to choose from at reasonable prices. 2orders w/drinks was ab/30bucks total. Boudreaux has been a staple in the Willowbrook area for over a decade. I lived in Louisiana for roughly three (3) years and Boudreaux represents Louisiana influenced food pretty well. My parents love their hurricanes and I have enjoyed every food item I have ordered off of their menu, but my heart belongs to their seafood pasta. It is absolutely delightful and it never disappoints. When in the Willowbrook area (near FM 1960 and U.S. 249), visit Boudreaux and you certainly won't be disappointed. read more

Been on a Cajun kick recently, and unfortunately this place was the low point. Ordered some boudin, jambalaya and pasta. The boudin was just really flavorless, I'm not sure if it's their style, but the boudin I've had in my life has been like a little package bursting with flavor when you cut into it. This was just.... mush. You can get a really good bouidin at Pappadeux for like a $2 more and you'll get two delicious boudin on top of some steaming hot delicious dirty rice. The jambalaya, man, this was just a dry old batch that seems like it was cooked up in the morning and they just scoop it out. Scratch that, I'm not even sure if it was the same morning because the sausage was like little dry shriveled up pieces of shrapnel going down your throat. Mix that in with the dry undercooked rice and you've got a recipe for disaster. They had a sample of the jambalaya sitting out and I was tempted to go back to see if they had given me that freaking plate. Dry, cold, tasteless, just a bomb all the way. The only reason for two stars? The pasta jambalaya, it was decent, but really, why not just call it small/large? Because this was in no way a medium, my wife who doesn't eat all that much finished the noodle in like 5 bites. You're going to call that a medium, it was like a child's plate. So flavor was actually alright, but I'd hate to see what they call a large plate of pasta if a medium isn't a decent size. It seemed like they had run out of pasta or something and just gave whatever they had left. Next to us were dirty tables and a plate of dessert that somebody had taken like two bites of and just left. So, it kind of seemed like dessert probably wouldn't be an option here either. The prices here are way out of wack to me. They have sit-down table service prices in a cafeteria atmosphere. I'm sure that helps with their bottom line in terms of staff cost, but I think it needs adjusting one way or another. Overall a very meh experience. read more

I've eaten here a number of times and each seems to be worse then the last. Today we stopped in to get crawfish for lunch and were truly disappointed. Price wise Boudreaux's is more then anywhere else around. It cost $13 for 1.5 pounds vs 12-14 for 2 or more pounds elsewhere. This would be ok if they were premium crawfish but instead they were the smallest I've seen all season. In addition over half my order was cold for some reason. I'm a crawfish nut and eat them 2-3 times a week when I can get them, but I didn't even eat a quarter of these before leaving and hitting the Wendy's next door. Total disappointment... Only upside was kids eat free on Tuesdays so my boys kids meal didn't cost us anything. All and all I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

We ordered the fried fish and shrimp plate that came with fries. Also, we ordered a cup of the seafood gumbo and an order of fried green tomatoes. Anyways my date and I ordered crab bites and a cup of shrimp gumbo as an app. It came out pretty quickly. The crab bites were delicious however the shrimp gumbo...well i've made much better. The flavor was just blahhhh not of your typical roux. A little bit later our poboys arrived. My sister had a 1/2 shrimp poboy...fries were cold and stale, bread was cold and over toasted. The shrimp were good but she literally counted 6 shrimp. My date had a similar experience as she had 8 shrimp on a full poboy and I too had about 10 shrimp. I've never had a problem with boudreaux. For just $18, I can have a legitimate food baby made of shrimp and crawfish etoufee. I my opinion, the combo etoufee is huge. But then again, it is 18 dollars so that explains it. Their fried pickles are great. My mom raves over the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp and grits. I wasn't really feelin the po' boy. Can get really packed on Sundays because that's when you get 20% off your ticket. Overal, food is good, service is meh, and it's a lively place to be on a weekend night. read more
