Utilized Bouey to complete a pre-purchase inspection of termite damage and dry rot of a home in Rocklin. Was scheduled through our realtor, so the logistics were relatively smooth and straightforward. Pricing was OK and their availability and flexibility for scheduling was fine. The report is where I would rate them the lowest. Supposedly they were thorough in their inspection checking for damage to the foundation, walls, and/or evidence of termite infestation. The report is the most meager, minimal documentation you would expect for this kind of paid service, and there are zero photos included - how can you do inspection services and not take photos as evidence of what you're finding? Supposedly it's "how they've always done it", but this seems to be a very large lacking component in comprehensive inspection and assessment services. read more

I reached out to Bouey after strong recommendations from folks in my community, and they absolutely lived up to the reputation. I initially hired them to do a termite inspection. They called me back the next day, and since they're just down the street, were able to get someone out quickly to confirm what I already suspected, based on the mud tubes I'd found. I ended up moving forward with hiring them for the treatment as well. What really stood out was their communication: they answered all my questions via email and called whenever anything needed clarification. I used Bouey at the recommendation of my realtor for a small project in my (newly purchased) historic home. I wanted a previous hall restored that had been converted to a closet. What Bouey did really well was that they came out very fast and completed the project ahead of schedule. What I didn't love was a lack of attention to detail. The hall door stuck badly after they finished and trim was not added. They came out to address those issues but overall left some areas to be desired, the wall was not buffed out and the reused materials left hinge dents in the inside of my door frame. I was told the service wouldn't include floor work or paint, but I didn't think I'd also need to be buffing walls and patching the door jams. All in all they came out three times and I'm still not thrilled with the overall workmanship. I had also asked multiple times about another project (removing shelves) and felt like I was passed off as after three requests I still never got a quote for this. Overall I had been considering them for a larger basement renovation, but I didn't feel great about the customer service and lack of attention to detail. Considering how highly recommended they came I'm pretty disappointed. Perhaps folks with more substantial projects have a much different experience, at least I hope they do. read more

In the past month I used Bouey Termite & Construction twice. First at my parent's home, there was a termite swarm. Mike did the inspection, he was polite, very knowledgeable and highly professional. This company was very quick to provide an inspection report detailing damage and work they would do and not do. I appreciated their honesty. Most recent issue was I had a swarm of insects in my home, I thought were termites. Bouey Inspector Andrew came out and completed an investigation. Andrew was also polite, knowledgeable and professional and I was relieved to learn I just had a swarm of ants that I could treat myself. I am posting as a tenant of a property that Bouey was supposed to service. During the scheduling process, first contact was fine. They called to offer me a few dates to choose from. I selected a date and was informed that they would contact me to confirm after they were able to contact my duplex neighbor. I never heard back from them. On the date prior to the date I had chosen, I saw my neighbor for the first time in a while since our schedules are different. They were preparing to leave for the week because of the fumigation occurring the next day. I had never received any confirmation or notification of the services. Being that it was a Sunday, we were not able to get in contact with anyone from Bouey or property management. We both left messages for Bouey. The day of the supposed service, my neighbor received a call back from Bouey. They said that the service was never scheduled and it was due to the fact that I never returned their call. The neighbor reminded Bouey of the circumstances of the initial call, and they then turned it around on the property management company. Come 5 days later & both my neighbor and I don't have any gas going to our gas powered appliances. Upon contact with PG&E, we learned that Bouey apparently contacted them to turn off the gas for the duration of the fumigation process. The gas was turned off on what would have been our return home date. While working with PG&E to get the gas turned back on, they asked if the company had informed us that this would be happening. Bouey sure didn't. They have inconvenienced our lives multiple times and also attempted to place the blame on me. They even told my property management that it was my fault. The biggest lesson here is that Bouey has a large communication and verification issue. The second lesson is that they will not accept responsibility unless it is presented in bold print to their face. Based on other reviews here Bouey is doing a good show of demonstrating why they are not the option to choose. read more

I was referred to this company by my realtor and am grateful to the professionalism and integrity this company has. I have two homes they are inspecting, one is 90 years old, the other 15. The 90 year old home was basically flawless sans a few spots where dry rot is...and those spots are easy to fix. They are so reasonable, for the time and energy spent here was at least two hours and the charge was $150. They give you $25 off if you pay that day. I would hire them again. We ordered a pest inspection from Bouey Termite Service, Inc. in January 2021 during the purchase of our house. When we moved into the house, we noticed numerous termite holes in our home along the edge of the window frames, and termite tunnels clearly visible on the exterior of the house (see photos I posted). These obvious problems were not caught on the inspection. We have been forced to treat for termites since taking possession of the house. We are extremely disappointed in the quality of Bouey Termite Service's inspection, and we recently emailed Bouey to ask that they refund the cost of the inspection and our termite treatment. Upon reaching out to Bouey, they refused to refund us for the inspection or the termite treatment, stating that the areas we referenced "were not visible and/or accessible for inspection." However, the termite tunnels were on the EXTERIOR wall in front of the property, a wall that was easily accessible to the inspector, and a wall that they either inspected incredibly poorly, or didn't inspect at all. The pinholes on the interior wall in the living room, the exterior of which had termite tubes clearly visible to a termite inspector, should have been a clear indicator of significant termite activity. I strongly encourage anyone considering using Bouey Termite Service to opt for another company instead due to their negligent inspection and unwillingness to correct their mistakes. read more

I recently had a great experience with Bouey for dry rot repairs. I originally had a pest inspection report done last year and dry rot was found. After several quotes, I ended up landing with Bouey. I wished I went with them sooner. Their prices were reasonable and the customer service was great. I would like to thank Santiago (believe I am saying his name correctly) for going the extra mile when coming out to fix the dry rot. I wish I had names of some of the others because they were really nice. Fingers crossed no more dry rot for a long while. : ) read more

Warning- Worst experience ever. I do not recommend this company. Had to file with the State Contractors License Board to get my mom's money back. The job was supposed to take 2 to 3 days. DO NOT USE BOUEY!!!! I PROMISE YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! They are absolute worst company I have ever had to interact with in my life. They conducted our home inspection and came recommended by our real estate agent. We then hired them to remove and replace flooring in our laundry area/half-bath and remove mold under the floor, among a few other things. This is the very first negative review I have written on Yelp. Long story short they left our house absolutely filthy! It was so dusty it looked like no one had lived there for 200 years. We have a two-story home and the tile dust got into every nook and cranny on both levels. I have asthma and the dust/filth was making me ill. When I called to complain they admitted that they failed to put up any plastic to protect our home even though that was their responsibility. We were so excited about our new home and the way Bouey treated our home made me feel completely disrespected. We have since then hired a company to remodel our kitchen and have seen the difference in customer service and respect. The way Bouey treated our home is far below the industry standard. They are the absolute worst. Additionally, there was horrible communication. One day workers showed up to finish the flooring and promptly left because Bouey failed to communicate properly to them about the work that needed to get done that day---and my husband was hugely inconvenienced because he had stayed home from work to let them into the home. They showed up at all hours of the morning and there was zero communication from them about what time they planned to arrive to work. They also told us it would take two days to complete the work when it really took longer and then tried to claim I was mistaken. I had to call or email every single day to make sure we were aware of what was going on in our own home. They get one star because they did end up paying $1,000 (yes, you read that correctly, one thousand dollars) to clean our entire home after the mess they made. My realtor called the land park office, who highly recommended this company. They did the work and even painted. I wish I could give 0 stars. I hired Bouey on the recommendation of my realtor to do a pest inspection before listing my house to be sold, hoping to find and treat any issues before we went on market. This was money coming out of my own pocket to try and make the selling process go as smoothly as possible. We already had a handyman hired to do a few repairs, so we told Bouey we would be having our handyman do the repairs for anything that came up. Shawn came to do the inspection and besides finding some areas of dry rot that required repair, he also noted that our shower was leaking to the external part of our house. He told my husband that it wasn't a big deal because it was dripping to the outside of the house only when the shower was run for a very long time and wasn't causing any damage. He didn't even include it in our report. We handed the report straight to our handyman who fixed everything on it. Then a month later when we went on the market, the potential buyers hired Bouey again to inspect. Surprisingly, this time Bouey told them that the shower leak was a big enough issue that the shower would now need to be replaced entirely. When I called Bouey to ask why they had told us different things, he insisted the shower issue was in the report, even when I sent him directly back the PDF report we had received and there was NO MENTION OF THE SHOWER IN IT. No matter what, they wouldn't admit to any wrongdoing, and our buyers ended up backing out. Then, and here's the clincher, when the next buyers hired a different company for pest inspection, THE NEXT COMPANY FOUND TERMITES THAT BOUEY HAD MISSED, and we had to pay for fumigation anyway. We essentially paid Bouey to cause us headaches, and to the end, they refused to even apologize or pay us back our inspection fee. read more

Paid for inspection. Report was limited in certain areas without detailed explanations. When I questioned an area that did not look normal, I was told the area was just a stain. Probably a fungus. It would wash off with soap and water. I was not comfortable with that answer but figured they knew what they were saying. One month later, I'm in the house and next to the "stain" appears two more "stain" piles of dark brown dust. Obviously, something eating at the wood. I sent a picture and was told not their problem. I was told by Mike via email through a very helpful Kristina - read the report. ??? The report that claims nothing is wrong. I was told it's not termites and the only way to know is to pay him to look u see the wood and determine what the issue is. Not sure why the crappy attitude but won't be paying them to "inspect" (if that's what you call it) again. I'll pay someone else to do their job. Good experience. The initial inspection was thorough and easy to understand. Communications were courteous and prompt. Contractors were flexible with my very limited availability and showed up at a reasonable time. Work was quick and quality. They took proper Covid-19 prevention steps, which is always appreciated. There was only one minor miscommunication where the contractor disagreed with one item that the inspector found. Bouey missed gross evidence of termites outside the home and misrepresented their inspection as complete and not requiring further inspection, even though they couldn't fully inspect the siding/foundation. They showed zero empathy and are unwilling to pay us what we are due by law/regulation. When I told them, I wouldn't have purchased the home if there was evidence of an active infestation (which there was, they just didn't call it out), they said "well you shouldn't be a homeowner." My experience with Bouey Pest was a very frustrating and dreadfully poor one. They recently inspected a house I was in the process of purchasing. The inspection on the house went okay, with only one discrepancy being found..."Cellulose in the subarea". In English, this translates to: "there were a couple of cardboard boxes in the crawl-space". When it came to the house's decks, they wanted an additional $290 to partially disassemble them, in order to inspect them!!!!! Other pest companies I talked to regarding this said this is overkill, and didn't make much sense. Thus, I went with another company for the inspection on the decks, and was only charged $50 for the inspection, and then another $50 for the re-inspection after corrective work was done. The major insult came when my underwriter insisted I have Bouey come back to re-inspect for boxes in the basement, or the loan wouldn't fund. Bouey Pest & Termite Control charged $375 to send a "Work Crew" to the house to remove two offending cardboard computer boxes from beneath the house, and to sign off. I was ripped off by this company, plain and simple. I only went with these people, because my realtor recommended them. I've learned a valuable lesson, and will do research on my own in the future. I hope my realtor has also learned a lesson about this company. The single, solitary positive experience with this company was the receptionist, Heidi. I got an education and was shown examples and what signs and symptoms to look out for with different issues. Everything from moisture, construction, access, and treatment. What did I get? OMG. I use a management company to look after my rental. When it was vacant, Todd came over and found $665 worth of repairs. One was for a new garbage disposal. I went over to the house and found a small piece of plastic. Took it out, ran fine (it was a year old). They charged me for lawn maintenance, tenants said they NEVER came out. Wanted $85 to chsnge a light bulb. We did all the work. Got another bill from them for 'miscellaneous' work. Total? $665. What a coincidence! Exactly the same amount. Steer clear!!! read more
