Convenient shop located on the corner of Castro Valley Blvd and Marshall St. This is the closest and most convenient shop to my home so I thought I'd give them a try. I was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge from the staff. I use to be a service technician and know when a shop is trying to upsell me something unnecessary which I've encountered in the past, but the team here is very knowledgeable and only recommended things that I actually needed. I bring all my larger jobs here now as I no longer have the time to tackle projects or the necessary special tools and I've had no complaints so far. The service is quick and done with care, and it is very easy to contact them for updates. I was hesitant at first because of some of the past reviews but it seems like some people in the past immediately go on the defensive before even allowing the technician to fully explain their reasoning for their recommendations which I don't understand. If you are unsure as to why something is being recommended you can ask nicely and get a pretty good explanation they aren't trying to force you into anything but just trying to keep you and your occupants safe on the road. read more

So fast and efficient! I've been here twice for an oil change and each time has been a pleasurable experience. You don't need an appointment or even call ahead of time, and they are so fast! I'm in and out of there in half an hour plus they have free wi-fi in the waiting room. The staff are knowledgable and are always more than willing to answer any questions and give advice. I've been coming to get my car serviced here ever since this place had its remodel(2014) and it's been GREAT! I get my oil changed here regularly and the service is quick and easy. They also have FREE water, coffee, tea and a vending machine for snacks while you wait! If that is not enough across the street is a Rite Aid for you to walk around in and kill time. To my knowledge they've recently installed a new lift that can service heavier trucks or lowered sports cars, the lift also allows them to align cars. The staff here are very friendly and helpful whenever I have questions about random things about my vehicle. *Don't judge me for listening into a conversation that has nothing to do with me but the guy was LOUD* The reason I'm writing a review in today instead of when I first got my oil change is because I experienced a very uncomfortable other customer visit on 5/18/2018. I see that this guy Steven H. wrote in a bad review like he said he would. This guy was very irate about an oil change he had in January, he told Fahad(owner of the place) that after his oil change here oil started leaking from his car. He didn't think about bringing it back here until 4-5 months later? He then angrily demands Fahad to replace his oil pan immediately to justify the situation. Steven tells Fahad that he brought the car into another oil change place and that's when they claimed the oil pan nut was stripped. I dont understand why this guy ignores his initial oil leak and then takes it to another place to get a oil change only to come back to Fahad's to demand for a new oil pan. Very fishy... In Steven's review he claims that Fahad was very unprofessional about the whole situation but being in that room Steven was the one that was the one raising his voice, using a lot of profanity(almost seemed threatening) and causing a scene. Meanwhile Fahad was talking to this guy in a very calm manor. After Steven left the first time the other guy in the room and I made small talk and gave Fahad props about how he handled that situation. After some time Steven comes back into the shop and apologizes about how he acted about the whole situation and that he was out of line and just wanted to fix the problem at hand. Fahad then accepted it and tried helping him out by offering to taking a look at his car all he had to do was to sign a work order(in my experience if you want something done a work order has to be drafted in order for work to begin). Steven then blows up and reverted back to when he first initially came in cussing and swearing making it very uncomfortable for anyone to be in the room. They basically got no where because Steven refused to sign a work order so that Fahad can even touch the car to assess the situation with his oil pan... I believe Stevens wife then comes in and asks whats going on and he angrily tells her whats going on and they're refusing to help even though all he had to do was sign a work order. She tells him dont sign anything and he then proceeded to threaten to write an angry review(which he did) and to take him to court. The fact that Fahad was even open to accessing his car after another oil change place touched it astonishes and bewilders me. This place does great work and I see myself coming back here as long as it's convent for me. Seeing Fahad take care of this situation calmly and professionally even though a guy is verbally threatening him shows that he cares about his customers. He is willing to go the extra mile to help the situation at hand and that is the kind of person I trust to work on my car. I hope you dont have to deal with customers like that often and I'll see you in a few months for my next oil change! read more

I love this place! I've been here twice now for oil changes. The owner is so pleasant, and they are very efficient and fairly priced. I had spent time looking for a quality local business with good reviews for oil changes. Who wants to go to or trusts the big chains? And who wants to deal with the car dealerships? I found Boulevard Auto met my needs quite nicely. In order to save time, I do generally try to arrive when places open for this type of service. Both times, I've been in and out in 20 min. I cannot speak for the wait times later in the day. If I ever need a minor car repair, I would certainly contact Boulevard. read more

Professionalism,Transparent,& Upfront(Honesty) is what most of us look for in a Auto Repair shop. These days its becoming almost impossible to find a shop like Blvd Auto. This was my first visit to Blvd. Auto I own a 2018 Subaru Legacy a daily driver i needed an oil change and a check over on my basic fluids and wear and tear items , belts, hoses, and what not basically a good bill of health on my vehicle. My first impression of blvd auto was how clean the shop was inside the customer lounge and out in the shop. The waiting lounge was very inviting i could hang out for couple of hours if need be. It had WiFi via blvd auto, Clean and comfortable couch and Stools if you needed to run errands or have bite to eat there are shops, food, & pharmacies within walking distance from blvd auto literally. Upon picking my vehicle up, i met with GM Fahad who knew about what needed to be done with my vehicle before i could even tell him. Now this is customer in mind service, Fahad was upfront with all the questions i had asked and actually learned some interesting facts from him. Great shop, accommodating, free drop off and pick up service which i did not take advantage of wish i did tho, but seriously who does that anymore besides the dealerships and large scale vehicle rental companies. The car was done before the time they promised great shop, great people and having a full service shop in the community as for Blvd. Auto can be a long lasting relationship with all your vehicles. Hi, Yelp people. I had a very bad experience on this mechanic shop today. So I was planning to sell my and buyer wanted to take to dealer but i told them it took too much time to get inspected by dealer. Lets try local shops and i checked around and found out this shop has "4 stars" some kind of reputations and decided to send the link of this shop to the buyer and they liked and planned to meet there. They welcomed us but while doing inspection a guy i forgot his name came out and started to talk negatively about the car. He said that it seems like big accident and rust and headlight alignment something like that. First of all all used cars has minor fender bender accidents and people got them fixed specially original parts on the car that show it was fender bender, the buyer thought that it was structural damage and they asked a big accident and he was like yes or no. Totally messed everything. the car was San francisco car and close to the coast. Has some minor surface rust. Not under the car. After that they test drove the car and didnt find mechanically any problem and that guy said that transmission fluid has never been changed and it was a lie. The car has 100k. It has been done once. Any way, the buyer got scared of accident conversation and didnt like to go for it. I think that this shop has fake 5 stars and they really deserve 1 star. This place is great! Local, convenient and very fairly priced. I take all of my cars here. They never try to upsell me. I own a local, mobile business and need to keep my small fleet of vehicles on the road. I don't know what the bad reviews are all about. One guy is upset because they recommended brakes. The manuals say to recommend brakes when they are 40% or less. 40% can get you a few more months. Another guy is upset because his stud broke off. That is obviously due to his last tire shop over tightening the lug nut. Why would they be "shady" and rip him off for only $50? That's just cost of parts and a few minutes labor. These bad reviewers should try Hinkleys and pay over 10 times for every repair. Take it from someone who actually knows how to work on cars. These guys are legit. Boulvard Auto is my one stop shop for all of my automotive needs. read more

If you're getting an oil change than this is a good place to go. However, I would just mention to ask them to let you know of other things they recommend while you're there before they actually do it. It has been awhile since I was there (back in the beginning of June), but I was just expecting an oil change and then when I was going to pay they said they had put in new air filters too because they needed to be changed. I wish they told me they were suggesting it before they actually put the filters so that I could decide, but luckily it was just that so I wasn't really too upset and maybe it was someone new working there. All in all, it was pretty good service and would recommend for a basic oil change. read more

I've been to Boulevard Auto many times across a couple cars for various jobs, and have had varying experiences. FWIW the quality of the work has always been good. For sit and wait jobs (oil change, air filter, etc.) you can't do better. The waiting area is well furnished and decorated, there is complimentary coffee, a vending machine, and prices are reasonable. The service adviser and manager sit in the same area, and are very kind and informative. For longer jobs I've made appointments and then waited longer than expected because the work wasn't started until much later. A few hours difference isn't an issue, I know that it's hard to account for all the variables, and it's not a large shop. Most recently, however, I made an appointment for a diagnosis of some leaks, and to have a quote generated for replacing a vacuum hose, and a parking brake lever. This time instead of a few hours, work didn't begin for a couple days. I dropped the car off when they opened (8:30), and was told I would receive a call back "within a day". I didn't receive that call, so I called the next day around 12 to ask if they'd had a chance to look at it. I was told that they had but were having trouble finding replacement parts in order to generate a quote for me. That's fine, but I'd have hoped that they would call to let me know what the hold up was since they hadn't called within the time they gave me. I asked if the quote would be available by the end of the day, and I was told that it would. I called later (45 minutes to close) to make sure I'd be getting the quote and the car back because I needed it the next morning for work, and I was under the assumption it was already inspected. I was told then, contrary to what I had been told before, that the car had just begun to be looked at. I did not think they would be able to diagnose both leaks, and to give me a quote before they closed, so I went to pick the car up. Maybe they could have finished the inspection and gotten it back to me in those 45 minutes, but if it was a 45 minute job I think then that it's especially egregious that work didn't begin until nearly two full business days after I dropped the car off. Though this time it was an issue especially, I've had prior transactions with Boulevard Auto in which the communication on their end was lacking, didn't agree with previous expectations they established, or just wasn't there. I'm someone for whom not having the car represents a significant opportunity cost. If you're like me, or if you just want a consistent service experience that respects the value of your time, you should spend your money elsewhere. read more

We have been bringing both our cars here for the last couple of years and are never disappointed. Recently my car was telling me that I needed something serviced that had to do with the braking system/four wheel drive. I'm thinking that this could be expensive for sure. I took it in here and they said that it was because the battery was getting old and had low voltage on it therefore the sensor was tripped for some reason. What I thought was going to be an expensive ordeal turned out to just be a simple battery issue. WATCH OUT!! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!! If I could, I would give this business MINUS 100 stars. This company charges for a higher price synthetic oil without being told that you have an option of regular motor oil. After my oil change, the tech guy who changed my oil said to me "You have the HONDA with the synthetic oil?" I said "synthetic oil? I didn't ask for that". So the owner said that he quoted me for the synthetic and I didn't say say no. Well, synthetic . oil is on the quote that I sent you." It is Not on the quote that I was sent.. I thought that the owner he has an obligation to tell me that I have a choice of materials to put in my vehicle. .. Instead he said that it was up to me to know what oil that I want to put in my car. I DO KNOW WHAT I WANT AND IT WAS NOT SYNTHETIC OIL. He also denied the 10 percent discount on labor. Although I checked in to YELP and had the discount on my phone he told me"to save it for something bigger." This was big enough, because I had already checked into YELP the discount would not com up again. He told me if I showed it now he would give me the discount. I couldn't anymore and he knew that too. 10% discount was denied. THIS PLACE OVER CHARGES EVERYONE! WATCH OUT FOR BAIT AND SWITCH. read more

Worst experience with an auto mechanic I've ever had. Dropped off car on a Wed. to get a vibration in steering wheel looked at. They said they'd be able to look at it Thursday morning. Hear nothing from them until 445pm Thursday to let me know that its motor mounts. They gave me quote and I tell them to work on it. They tell me it will be done on Friday. Friday afternoon comes and it's around 4pm, I give them a call to see what's up with my car. Guy answer and puts me on hold, comes back and says, they only got 2 of the 3 mounts needed and now he needs to call the parts warehouse to get the 3rd one so it won't be done until Monday. Get a call Monday morning from shop letting me know that tech working on my car has a girlfriend who just tested positive for Covid and that he's not working this week so he can't work on my car and I need to pick up the car until next week. Go to pick up my car and I see techs working in garage...why couldn't another tech work on my car to replace mounts???? I'll never recommend this place to anyone. read more

i took my "girl" there after some underside rattling and engine hesitancy. The young man in charge had me wait for about a half hour till he could take a look at my truck.Ok, no big deal. He seemed cool enough, but that is truly a facade. Truck was pulled into an empty bay and looked at, i guess, if you call clanging and loud banging being "looked" at. i was like "stupidfied"( yeah i really used that word). then came the high estimate and side comments with what looked to be an older man, well dressed, who rolled up seemingly to "check" on things. He saw me waiting in the back parking lot and had conversation with this "boss" type kid ( a kid to me)...He disparaged my vehicle made some remarks to his other mechanics standing around ,and then the off putting "snickers". This outfit seems to be bankrolled by foreign interest. i note the defensive responses to any,and i mean "ANY" negative review. I've been coming here to get my oil changed (they have synthetic) for a few years and they've had consistently good service. It takes about 30-45 mins depending on how busy they are and they have tv, coffee, and snacks + AC on hot days in the waiting room. Dogs are allowed to wait inside as well. read more

My car was leaking oil, so I took my car to Boulevard Auto. They gave me a reasonable quote to fix the oil leak, so I left the car for a day. The next afternoon, they called me to picked up the car after they had attempted to fix it. It was a good thing I did a quick check on the bottom of the car before leaving the lot because I could already see that the leak was not fixed. They either did not do a quick inspection after they did their best to fix it or wanted me to leave without noticing the problem after they realized they fixed the wrong thing. They argued that they did a wrong diagnosis and the bill was for the procedure they had thought was wrong with the car which was specified in the bill, not to fix the car. After discussing for over an hour, I realized I would have to be the one to foot the bill for their mistake because the entire time they did not seem sympathetic or have any indication of wanting to give a refund or fix the actual problem without me paying for it again. If you decide to get some work done on your car here you have to hope they don't make a mistake, because you will be paying for it. read more

Used the yelp "request a quote" button on their page to ask for a quote for an oil change and tire rotation (gave them my car model and year). They said I need to make an appointment to bring the car in before they could provide a quote/estimate (which defeats the purpose of a "request a quote" button) - again, this is literally just for an oil change and tire rotation, no special requests or anything. I thought maybe they misunderstood me, so I asked if they had some standard prices for oil changes and tire rotations, and they just replied with a link to mycarfax, with no prices, no explanation. Guess they really want to get your car on a lift before they'll even provide an estimate of what they're going to charge. read more

My go to place for oil changes and any other servicing needs for my car. When I was looking into getting a 80k tune up, one shop in Dublin quoted me $500 for the tune up including oil and oil filter change, but when requesting for a quote from Fahad, he said we don't sell for unneeded jobs. To me that makes total sense. I ended up getting an oil change along with a transmission fluid change which saved me a couple hundred dollars compared to the other shop. Happy customer! read more

Boulevard is my go to shop for all full services. I brought in my s2000 to get a differential and transmission fluid swap. In and out in under an hour. Fahad the owner is very personable and pleasant to work with. He is trustsorthy and not a typical mechanic who tries to upsell you on all services. He recommends the maintenance intervals and continually goes above and beyond to ensure the customer is happy with the work. There is a waiting room with AC and also provides coffee and water. I even saw a vending machine as well. They carry a full stock of motul fluids which is top of the line. Gill & James were the two mechanics on site who were rocking the house! This business had a waiting line of people before the 9 am... A small wait for the customer maybe.... But the consensus was that these guys are 100% legit. They were all returning customers! If i could i would give it 0 stars! Got my car an oil change with them. Couple days later i come to realize that they didn't tighten the oil drain plug properly which caused leaking and my car to overheat. When i took it back they fixed the problem, so i decided to get an oil change, and this time they didn't tighten the oil filter properly which also caused the car to overheat because it was low on oil. I took it back and dealt with the manager, FAHAD, who claimed that the problem was the filter itself (which was a lie), because once i insisted that it was just loose, it solved the problem. FAHAD was VERY rude and unprofessional, even though it was his staff's fault for not paying attention to their work. Do not give them your business! They are rude and don't do a good job! read more

Today is the 3rd time I've come here. I went to check why my engine light came on and it was the catalytic converter and he referred me to another mechanic. I thought was worth mentioning. I got an oil change, they changed my transmission oil and new filter. They are honest & friendly mechanics.
