Delicious! Burgers are great. Not "blow my mind" amazing, but still relatively enjoyable. The main reason I come back? Their garlic curly fries. They don't just top the fries with diced garlic and parsley, they've gotta cook the fries with the actual garlic because every time I get them the flavors are infused together creating this mouth watering deliciousness that keeps me coming back for more. After the latest failure we have given up hope that your restaurant will return to its excellent beginnings. "Four cheeseburgers, no onions" = one burger with onions "One Sunrise burger, one mushroom burger no onions with jack" = one burger with yolk popped, one mushroom burger with onions and swiss I'm afraid it's Nations or Capers for us. Update: Ok so Blvd Burger seems like it fell victim to bad workees cause upon return it was much better...burger well done and tasty and shake was thick and yummy. Also fast great service...polite and attentive. Highly disappointed with this trip to Blvd Burger. The person taking orders shouldn't rep BB since she seemed frazzled and couldn't get things right. I order a well done 50/50...This wasn't even close to well done. Also our two milkshakes were NOT thick at all, even though BB advertise "Our shakes are THICK." Nope. I feel like $35 for two burgers, a hot dog and fries could have been spent somewhere else. The meat itself is flavorless. I got a Patty melt which they generously decided to put a teaspoon of onion on with the same amount of cheese. It's like the cook thought that the toppings were coming out of his paycheck? If you've ever had a proper Patty melt, this is not it. My wife didn't even finish hers, threw it in the trash. I won't bother again. read more

This place has a hit-and-miss menu, but everything is made fresh to order. My boyfriend LOVED his "the whole enchilada" burger, which was huge and generous in all the ingredients with a juice-looking patty. On the other hand, I got the grilled mahi-mahi sandwich which was oddly bland. The fish was grilled well, and the toasted bun was good, but the mango salsa was flavorless and I was missing a spritz of lemon. I appreciated the slice of tomato and lettuce but they didn't contribute any flavor either. The chocolate milkshake was fantastic though! I've also had sweet potato fries and onion rings here, which are fairly standard. Service is friendly. read more

Visited December 2016 with my fiancé and a friend, Val's was closed (it was a Sunday I believe) and we were really hoping that the other reviews stating it was "better than Val's!" were somehow true. Alas, they were wrong . The burgers were just not as tasty! I'm not sure what it was really, but they were lacking something fundamental for sure. The 3 stars are for their fruity pebbles milk shake - it was soooo yummy - it literally transported me back to a sugar coated childlike bliss. I ordered the food at 1:01 PM, picked up the food on 1:20 PM. Got home in 3 mins and found out buns on 2 burgers are so soggy and can't hold up the beef patty, sauce are dipping when we are trying to hold the burgers to eat. I have never eaten such bad burgers in the past. read more

Truly terrible service. Waited and hour and a half for 3 burgers and 3 fries. Everything was made at different times and was completely cold when we got it home. Other people came in and placed orders to go and got their orders before ours, our order ended up missing things when I called, they said we "had a big order". One of my "go to" for a loaded up burger. Good for the times when you want something a bit fancier than In-n-Out, but not as fancy as a steakhouse (in regard to the burger not the store). Blvd has a good choice of gourmet type of burgers or you can build your own. I love the bronco burger, with battered jalapeños on the side. Add some curly fries and you got yourself a solid meal. Staff are nice-ish, but totally incompetent. They got my order wrong (as noted above.) Also, I ordered my food to-go, but then was handed an open basket of fries well before my burger was ready. I told him "I ordered my food to-go" and he stood there staring at me for several seconds before he had to go back and tell everyone "to change my order" even though the guy at the order counter acknowledged that I had originally ordered to-go. They weren't busy at all either. I might be able to excuse a mix up during a really busy lunch hour, but I was the only one waiting for an order when I was there, then two more people showed up while I was waiting for my food. I paid $10.11 for a crappy burger and fries. No drink, just a burger and fries. I'm mad I spent money for food I couldn't eat. I've been going to Boulevard Burger for a little while now and this isn't the first time they've messed up my order. I ordered a plain burger which they messed up by adding vegetables. Not only was the burger messed up, it was cold. I went back to complain, and the woman rolled her eyes, took the burger, and came back within 20 seconds. She did not remake it and didn't apologize at all. I gave 2 stars because the food was decent, not the best and not the worst. Overall really bad service and decent food. Went to Boulevard Burger last week to give it a try. I was very dissapointed! First sign that it was not going to be "great" was no killer smells coming from the grill as is the case at The Habit. Anyway, gave it a try and all I can say is they put no love into their food at all. Limp lettuce, tomato was not ripe, barley cooked meat, fries were cold.....just plain terrible. I think that this will be the last time I purchase food here. I order my family dinner online and I was prompt to pick it up. When I got there, my order was ready but not yet bagged. So the young man behind the counter had the four burgers and fries on the counter, but proceeded to open up every boxed burger several times to see if these were the burgers I ordered. Not only did he open each box several times he jostled each burger to examine the contents in each burger. I complained that all of our burgers were dismantled by jostling them and getting cold. I was told that they have to check to make sure that this was my order or it's on them. On them, really how? Perhaps they need a better way to determine that this was my order. My order was assigned a specific number, so why isn't the cook just writing the order number on the top of each burger box, so that they aren't constantly opening each box to review what is inside. I don't see this as being very sanitary either. I'm sure that the management wouldnt want a cold, messed up burger going out to their patrons. The land of the after little league practice, which means it's very family friendly and you'll find kids drinking samples of soda with plastic sauce containers. I was really surprised to discover two things: 1) They make their own veggie patty and it's actually pretty good. There's quinoa, black beans, and other healthy things in there. You can get a variety of different toppings too to amp up your burger. 2) They cook the beef patties to about medium rare + so it's nice and pink. They don't ask you how you want it cooked so you have to tell them if you don't want it delicious. $3.50 usually gets you a basket of something -- regular fries, curly fries, onion rings, etc. and it's a LOT. They also have a couple beers on tap and a lot of unique bottled beers. Very surprising for Castro Valley but kudos to a good addition to the small town. read more

My family went when they first opened and havent been back since. I may go back to try it again, but first inpressions are so important to my family. We each ordered basically a normal cheeseburger, fries, and someone ordered onion rings. The burger was ok. A bit dry, no seasoning, and it was a thick patty. If it were a tasty juicy patty, I would have had no problem. We really had to go crazy on the ketchup to make the burger go down. The fries were too greasy, but I tend to like greasy fries. Then the onion rings were a huge disappointment because the batter was so thick and overfried, it was not good at all. It was like a brown cracker covering onion rings. Boulevard Burger in Castro Valley and it's just as good as the first! They've only been open 3 days and I've been there twice. Each time I've had nothing but great service, great food, and a good time. Boulevard uses grass-fed, grain-finished, free-range angus beef and you can tell. They only serve burgers medium to medium rare, but they make a nice, juicy burger regardless. The physical space is perfect for a classic burger joint. Classic, clean, black & white decor. Since we have active kids, we like that they have an outdoor patio space as well. Looking forward to going back soon. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. My wife brought it back to my attention. Was empty when we made our visit. Quick to order. The lady that took our order was somewhat friendly. Could had been a lot nicer. Ordered Sunnyside and Guacamole Burgers with Garlic Fries. Garlic fries are pretty good but alot of the fries were soft. The burgers were on the other hand really good. I'd love to give this place a better review because I want to support our community and the food is actually okay but.... over the years I've tried to make this place work because it's close to home, they have lots of seating and who doesn't want a burger right? Well, I've been here 5 times in the last 5-6 years and the staff at the register and kitchen have always provided lousy service. The manager or assistant manager is lovely, he's always smiling and welcoming. The register is always empty and if they see us they ignore us. The kitchen is right there and and they never greet us or ask someone to help us. They act as though it's a bother. Today the cashier threw his hands up like we were bothering him by waiting patiently. The staff always had a crappy look on their face. They never smile, greet us or thank us for coming in. Not a word. Sad because this place could be great given the small community here and location. read more

I think the burgers here are better than at the shop in San Leandro. It's probably just my imagination, but they seem less black peppery. I like the new, simplified menu and mode of delivery. A little reminiscent of another chain, but it works well. In a few days, we're going to be living just about equidistant from the two Boulevard Burgers. I don't know how we'll decide where to go! We went in excited to try the new burger place in CV. We left thinking that we'll be back, but not often. The menu is a bit confusing the first time, because it's not what people are used to. The cashier was VERY helpful and patient, so we ended up with exactly the burgers we wanted. The food was above average, but not a home run. Burger meat was average. Bun was above average. Condiments were nothing special. Fries were average. The chocolate shake was BELOW average. It tasted like fake cocoa mixed with cheap ice milk. We did not like the order call system- primarily because we had to go back three times for parts of the meal. Here's to hoping that they raise their game as time goes on and turn the place into a real destination. In my attempt to support local business I gave a two star but once again I was very disappointed with the food. Furthermore, in writing the owner to convey my experience, I received a real lack of caring. In the end, I hope they can get their act together. Additionally, I spoke with manager named Edith; she was rude and failed to return call back to me as promised. She was to leave message for owner (Rose) never any feedback or help. I recently wrote a review about the Boulevard Burger in San Leandro... Same minor issue- Pricey. What I really like about this place is the ambience. Totally different from the BB in SL. I feel like this place is more alive. The customer service is ridiculously amazing. Someone is constantly checking up to see how you're doing. I think I remember them playing light music in the background too? I might've been trippin, but if so, I like that there's noise in the place. Two TVs so you can eat and enjoy the game or watch the debate. Outside seating just in case you wanna watch cars driving down the street in busy ol' Castro Valley. I definitely prefer this Boulevard Burger rather than the one in San Leandro. read more

The establishment is clean enough but a little dingy for being so new. Decor is malt shop-esque, except for the weird and a little confusing ordering counter. Since this was my first time, I got the Boulevard Burger with cheese. It is a third-pound burger of acceptable but unremarkable quality. Although it was not cooked as advertised, it was to my liking. It was supposed to be medium, but was medium rare, which is actual how I like burgers. The produce was fresh and well-applied. The American cheese was soft but not melted, probably because it was not good quality. The real stand-out was the bun! A nice soft brioche bun similar to Fuddruckers but not quite as good. Overall, I would rate the burger as far better than fast food, but quite inferior to Five Guys. I had a house salad with my combo that was quite good. Since they are relatively new to me, I will try them again to test the shakes and fries, and a different burger configuration. All that being said, I declare it to be the best burger place in Castro Valley, only because Val's is actually in Hayward! read more
