I haven't been here in years. A friend of mine was telling me about the one in San Leandro and how good it is. First off looking at the prices, I think I was over charged. I got a tuna melt with sweet potato fries and shake for $31.00. Small fries and small shake. I'm like oh this better be good. Worse tuna I ever had. Tastes tart like lemon was in it. The mayo was on the bread in stead of mixed with tuna. Banana shake had no flavor. This place is nothing like I remembered it had to be 10 years since I've been here. We ordered our dinner for 3 to be ready at 6:15 pm last night. We arrived on time and had to wait until 6:45 to get our food which was awful. The fries were under cooked, the burger was slathered in mayo, my grilled cheese looked like a child made it, the chicken strips meal should have 4 strips, we only got 2. We are locals and eat here a couple times a month. Really good burgers and sandwiches, especially the steak sandwich. And their sweet potato and regular fries are outstanding. But the service is exceptionally slow. And it is VERY expensive--prices on par with the very best burger restaurants in the region but not quite at the same quality and definitely not the same service. Although not the best burger I've ever had, they are getting 5 stars for one reason. They know how to cook the burger to the right temperature. Everyone in my clan wants it a different temperature. I like mine raw-rare, where one of my kids wants it med-well to well and everyone else wants a different temperature. The cute burger VW car seems to alway be parked right out in the front for all to spot this location. Nice decor inside as well but the outside is kind of simple. It's a order at the front pick your seat small restaurant. Seating outside provided all a long the restaurant with the handicap parking on the left. Parking lot was pretty spacious. Finding this place was a trick for me because I passed it and had to u turn around but overall not that hard to find. Steak sandwich was so good I wish I was able to eat the other half but I let my niece eat my leftovers. COVID REVIEW: Their burgers here have great flavor! It's seasoned to perfection. Came here tonight to order dinner because the school PTA where I teach at bought all the teachers dinner for the holidays! Thank you PTA!!! I called in my order and they said it would be ready in 15 min. When I arrived, my order was ready in a big brown paper bag, and stayed warm throughout my drive home. I love that every burger was packed in compostable containers! Thank you Blvd Burger for thinking about the environment! They also observed social distancing. Everyone was masked and gloved. They offer sanitizer at the counter. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. There's one door to go in, and another to exit. They definitely follow protocols. You can customize anything you order: how you want your patty cooked, bread choice, topping options, etc. They also offer lettuce wrapped or no bun for you keto / low carb followers. You can order online or by phone. Whichever you use is pretty easy. My family ordered: Boulevard Burger on sourdough bread with cheddar: Looks amazing! Bronco Burger no BBQ sauce: Those onion rings! Don't know why the ratings for this place aren't higher but I gotta say my experience here was AWESOME! Orders and meal went something like this: Chocolate/Banana shake and root beer float - SO good, I think they use soft serve to mix this, either way it was awesome Garlic and chili fries - I don't get chili fries often cause I never like the way places make it so greasy HOWEVER this chili mix at this place was so tasty and not greasy, wouldn't mind a bowl of this alone next time! I ordered the mushroom burger and added fried jalapeños to it. It was delicious and came out fast. The workers were friendly and helpful. Only thing is I tipped 10 % because I thought I would pick it up from the counter, just as I ordered it. However they delivered my food to me and even checked on all the tables while I was eating. I was in Castro Valley and wanted lunch. Boulevard Burger fit the bill and did not disappoint. What makes this place great? First of all, the restaurant sign is an Orange VW Beetle, how cool is that? The interior is nice and comfortable too. At the counter is a real burger chef. My turkey burger was fabulous, juicy and flavorful. The fry's were curly. The shakes, oh my! My kid had strawberry and I had mocha with cream, they were deluxe, bonus, and out of this world! Best part, the next day the teenager said-- you know, I'm still thinking about that tuna melt. Meh , we ordered from this establishment again (Second time, same items) and I honestly can tell what changed between when we ordered in December and what we got today. The food did not just taste good at all for delivery from Grubhub. The entire order was cold by the time it got here. I had to use the air fryer to crisp up the fries. Both Door Dash and Grubhub seem to reject negative reviews and mine was simply not posted because it did not conform with their guidelines on the food delivery app. It was just not worth the $50 we paid for delivery and tip. Was craving a burger and I decided to yelp and found this place. I did see the reviews coming in, but I still had to decide for myself. It is off the corner on Castro Valley Blvd, and parking is ample. They only have outdoor dining right now, and they have signs informing patrons where they are suppose to sit. The staff had masks and gloves on. I ordered the basic Blvd Burger, which is their burger patty (I had it cooked Medium), with simple fixins. I added Pepper Jack Cheese since it is my favorite cheese and burgers taste better with cheese, IMO. The combo (for $4 more) adds fries and a small drink (rootbeer). The burger was pretty good. I noticed my bottom bun a bit soggy, but everything still kept its form. The only critique I have for the burger is that it was a bit salty for my taste. It could be the seasoning or something else, but I definitely know something tasted salty as I bit into the patty meat. The fries were crispy, but for a combo with a drink, the amount I paid for could have been a bit more. My overall price (~$14) seems a bit much for what I received, hence my 3.5-4/5 star rating. Overall, not a bad place. Still a bit pricey for my budget. But I was craving a burger, and the quality tasted pretty good. Would consider coming here again. read more

Service: -2 stars for the service because the person that took my order got sidetracked so many times while taking my order. My family's FAVORITE burger joint. That's saying a lot living where we live, home of all the got damn American diners you could ever want and more. I don't know what else to write except that the food is gooood. We love that it's a family-friendly joint, complete with crayons and coloring paper for the littles. It's clean and the folks are nice. It came hot with melted cheese, fresh avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion on a soft brioche bun. It was huge and I honestly thought I'd only be able to eat half but it was so good, I ate whole darn thing. Their onion rings are freshly made and their garlic fries were delicious. A lot of places are selling $15-20 burgers these days and BB basically has the same quality burger at almost half the price., I thoroughly enjoyed mine and the only complaint was I asked for medium rare and got closer to rare, which is better than medium or well done. Also, I think an order of fries, which are pretty good, goes for $3.50 and the size is decent enough to share. I also found the staff to be friendly and accommodating and the space has a mellow quasi-retro vibe. Lastly, they have a few decent beers on tap and I really liked that they had the Elysian Dank Dust pouring the last time I went. So they totally forgot my daughter grilled cheese sandwich, they put my girlfriends burger in sandwich bread (after asking for a wheat bun), my sons cheese burger came without cheese, and the finishing touch was the buckero western burger for me, that was literally a raw cold slab of hamburger. I was honestly stunned they sent me home with raw meat, or that they totally forgot an order. And how tf do you forget cheese on a cheese burger? We talked to them, and they offered us 1/2 a refund. Went on a Sunday evening, only one other patron was there at the time. Ordered a blue cheese burger, a tuna melt, a kids burger, a shake and a side of fries. The blue cheese burger was the most forgettable blue cheese burger I've ever had, patty was just ok, unsubstantial. The tuna melt was not good, cold, not fresh, most anyone could make a more appetizing tuna melt at home with minimal effort. Portions were awfully small relative to prices. They showed me the tray my fries would come in, but then they barely filled the tray with fries half full. I finished my burger and was still hungry, that doesn't happen for me often, and per above I did not want to finish the leftover tuna melt. Service was ok. They didn't give me the juice I ordered. Didn't give me sauce for the fries. Didn't give enough straws for the shake we ordered. Bathroom had a smell. I think staff were just ready to hurry up and close up and leave for the night, but honestly it was a couple hours before closing time. Maybe they are just used to low foot traffic? Would not come back. Disappointed as I moved in around the corner and was hoping the average Yelp review was wrong about this place.
