A home style type of burger joint! Love there boulevard burger and sweet potato fries

Went on a Sunday evening, only one other patron was there at the time. Ordered a blue cheese burger, a tuna melt, a kids burger, a shake and a side of fries. The blue cheese burger was the most forgettable blue cheese burger I've ever had, patty was just ok, unsubstantial. My kid's burger was plain, and yes that is the point of a kid's meal, but it helps confirm that the quality of their meat as meh, and the bread is also very generic tasting. The tuna melt was not good, cold, not fresh, most anyone could make a more appetizing tuna melt at home with minimal effort. Portions were awfully small relative to prices. They showed me the tray my fries would come in, but then they barely filled the tray with fries half full. I finished my burger and was still hungry, that doesn't happen for me often, and per above I did not want to finish the leftover tuna melt. Service was ok. They didn't give me the juice I ordered. Didn't give me sauce for the fries. Didn't give enough straws for the shake we ordered. Bathroom had a smell. I think staff were just ready to hurry up and close up and leave for the night, but honestly it was a couple hours before closing time. Maybe they are just used to low foot traffic? Would not come back. Disappointed as I moved in around the corner and was hoping the average Yelp review was wrong about this place. My son doesn't like the "fancy burgers". Me? I love them! Which is why I'll order again. Good and juicy. Kids don't respect flavor.

The food here is pretty good. I really enjoyed the patty melt, and I'm told the steak sandwich is really good. The fries were great as were the onion rings. the service was also excellent. The employee at the front counter went out of his way to be helpful. Overall, a good option for a sandwich in the area, despite a lackluster atmosphere. read more

Super disappointed! My bun was clearly microwaved as it had a shriveled texture on the top bun and dryness only a microwave would leave. I ordered a cheeseburger with cheddar and not one fleck of cheese was on my burger. The burger looked like it had been on for too long and tasted very dry and flavorless. The sweet potato fries were moist but were cold. I did enjoy the flavor of the ranch dressing. I am not sure I will try this place again as I have been to Blvd Burger a few times and have not been impressed. Pretty sad when Castro Valley has more than a handful of restaurants you can buy a burger and you still need to trek to Hayward for a quality Burger. I'll be going to Val's from now on. read more

Came all the way out from Gilroy California for a great burger. Fast and curtieous service 10 out 10 highly recommend!!!!!

Boulevard Burger is a nice little place for lunch with indoor and outdoor seating. They have a great variety of options they offer pork, seafood, beef, chicken and turkey. A few more Im sure but I did not take a picture of the menu. Had lunch with my sister and we had the classic boulevard burger cooked medium, pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato and regular fries. I would have liked a little more seasoning on the meat but overall it was really good. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Recently stopped by with a co-worker for lunch. The aforementioned co-worker, a long-time Hayward resident, was boasting that this burger joint was 'better' than the iconic 'Val's'. Sacrilegious words spoken! I must say, that after a go-round with their Blvd burger, sweet potato fries, and the equally impressive onion rings, I would still have to give my 'Best Hamburger' award to Val's. HOWEVER..... 1) Boulevard's burger is a VERY CLOSE SECOND. It is priced right. Smaller pattie, but nice flavor! Comes on a soft Brioche (maybe?) bun too. 2) Their Sweet Potato Fries, are some of the best I have ever tasted. BEST.EVAR. It makes Val's regular Potato Fries pale in comparison. 3) The Onion Rings are equally as awesome as Val's. 4) TVS and Beer(!) Val's does not have these. They also have wine. Whaaaaaaat? 5) On a return trip, I came back just to give a whirl with their Cheese steak sando: I was not dissappointed. It is generously sized with just the right amount of gooey cheese. This Cheese steak as good as any other that I have ever had. No Lie! Do yourself a favor, and make it on over to this wonderful venue for all of the above mentioned reasons. We've ordered pick-up from here twice but I'd foresee returning. The burgers are good enough, but the service has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I walked to the front counter to say I was picking up my order, and I was told right away without question to just go to the end of the long line. I tried to explain I was really just there to give a name and get a bag of food if it's sitting there (which I saw, it Was). Still I was treated like a child, interrupted, and insisted to go to the end of the line and wait like everyone else. Five minutes later I'm at the register and the same checker is chipper and acts like it's no big deal to hand me food that was sitting there for so long. All I had to do was give a name and walk out. Easy. When I called to explain my experience and the resulting gross fries and cold food, the guy on the phone remembered me saying he was the one who sent me to the back of the line, because it's only fair. I said No, that isn't how it works when you allow customers to pre-pay and your order is slated to be ready at a certain time, and the customer arrives and is then turned to the back of the line? We had ordered online, were there when the food was ready. He then suggested I was simply late, saying he remembered the bag sat there for a while before I picked it up, which was shocking because we had just gone over him sending me to the back of the line. Yes, the line you sent me to the back of took 5 more minutes of you ringing up people and accepting payments for food that wasn't even ready. Don't chastise paying customers for patronizing your establishment. I won't return because of how I was treated picking up something for which I had already paid and was sitting and ready for me, as well as how I was treated with half-hearted excuses and blame when I called to complain about said treatment and the resulting subpar food. Maybe the fries always suck, I dunno, don't care to try a third time. I'll support other local establishments. read more

Burger is really good and not too salty. You can get a lot of special things on the burger (aoili, horse radish mayo, jalepenos, etc.). The fries and onion rings, they can make them an order of "Frings" if you will and mix'em up for you. I usually have a healthy appetite, and the burgers are a little small, so make sure you get the fries. But once I had both, I was satisfied. It actually was a really good amount so I'm not complaining. read more

The burgers were good, but expensive. The bun on the last order that arrived was soggy and fell apart making it difficult to eat as an entire burger. The wait time after ordering was inconsistent. One person on our table got his burger ten minutes before the next person got theirs despite the same order. read more

The 50/50 patty, which is the star of the Sunnyside burger, is a lovely concoction made of sirloin and bacon. It might be a heart attack waiting to happen, but combined with a sunny side up egg and some avocado, it's pretty much perfect. Add in some garlic fries and a cold beer and you will be in comfort food heaven. My b urger was moist and not too greasy. The portion of fries was so generous I couldn't finish them. They were served really hot and were nice and crispy. Of course, there are tons of other options on the menu, so you can find the combination that's perfect for you. Service is fairly friendly and fast. The place is pretty spotless, especially considering steady stream of business they have at dinner time. The prices are reasonable, they have a private lot, and are located right by a traffic light. No excuses. Give them a try. read more

I'm here at this cute little grill ! First time here. It's nice and clean ... the cashier greets me . For my order due to pandemic they are taking orders behind a plastic shield. I ordered a bacon cheese burger. On lettuce. The total was $13.06 . I was shocked but I was excited to experience eating here . The food was ok, expensive. The number they gave us was sticky. I don't know. I hate giving bad reviews. There were a few tables sitting outside but it wasn't terribly busy on a weekend afternoon. My girl is from Hayward and the Oakland location is closer. After a nice walk at Alameda Beach and watching the sunset, I wanted a good burger. She wanted me to try the Castro Valley location, and we ordered online. I love how you're able to edit your burger. Thank you to the businesses and staff for their services during these times. ====================== Found this place through Google Maps (oddly) - whenever we've searched for "best burger" through Yelp, Google, etc it's never listed in the first 2 pages, we see why. But we really wanted to give them a try and support local. If you're looking for a selection of burgers, this is the place - they do burgers and know how to grill them. But if you're looking for a composed, "gourmet"ish burger, you may want to reconsider. In general, the burger and sandwich were okay - slightly overcooked and hugely lacking flavor. The regular buns were "regular" - they were sticky, lumped in your mouth, and didn't really hold the sandwiches. Hot Stuff Burger - was not hot (really depends on the season of the jalapenos). The beef was slightly overcooked, and the amount of lettuce / tomatoes drowns the overall flavor. The burger reminded us of something you would get at a picnic / bbq. Salmon Burger - the fishy smell that hits you as you open the box was not appetizing. Luckily it didn't taste that way, but same as the beef - made the fish dry (may also be due to frozen cut vs fresh). Needless to say, I couldn't finish my sandwich, it was just too tough for me. Side of fries - thin fries, which got a bit soggy as they were probably boxed while hot. Cooked well through, but the box experience may really impact the overall experience. read more

Instead I received a dry tuna sandwhich absolutely no Mayo mixed in tuna, only spread on one side of the bread. The sourdough bread was soggy and not toasted even tho I asked for it to be well done. That's a NO! Burger COMPLETELY flavorless YIKES! It was the bacon brisket bbq. What a shame because it looked and smelled really good! The BBQ sauce itself was bland!! How?? Hubby ate half his burger and threw the rest away. Tiramisu and onions rings were good. That's about it. Probably first and last time unfortunately. read more
