    Worcester State Omelette

Great experience here on a Sunday morning. Despite the limited seating, we were at immediately. It's super cute and nostalgic in there. The waitress was awesome, super quick and attentive. Our food was at our table less than 15 minutes after ordering. Everything was great, a perfect classic diner breakfast. My omelette and home fries were delicious, but ending with a chocolate chip pancake was my favorite part.

    It's 2 a.m. on a Friday where else would I be?

Drunk food ... that's what you get here. There is a lot of variety but nothing is done well. When you have been out at the bars in Worcester and need a little something to absorb the alcohol ... and a plate of sausage, meatballs and pasta sounds like a good idea at 1 a.m. ... you come here. Ypu also get to see slme of the hardest working people on the planet navigate a small space while cooking for a packed restaurant. This is one of the few train car diners out there, popular in the 1930's and actuslly made near Worcester, these train car diners are a stalle of central Massachusetts. This isn't the New York or New Jersey style diner, its something uniquely its own New England setting. Its alwsys packed here. You'll be sitting elbow to elbow with boisterous and well lubricated club and bargoers on small yet surprisingly comfortabke stools at the counter ... or may be lucky enough to score one of the incredibly unckmfortable wooden booths, where the staff gets to watch 4 people attempt to navigate elbows and knees to eat their hangover saving food. The food here is not what you'd hope to get at any other restaurant. However, you can't knock it because the dry toast, rubbery omelettes and ketchup-like red sauce are one of the only options this late at night standing between you and a morning full of headache and sluggishness. Nothing you eat here will be good ... but it won't be bad either. Just as athletes and body buikders eat food as fuel, with little actual thought to the taste .. that's your mission here. This is a rite of passage for anyone who has lived in, or near, one of the worst small cities in the USA. Embrace and enjoy the tradition and the wonderfully vintahe interior, virtually unchanged with time since the 1930s ... 1990s ... and today. The only exception to that rule is that they mercifully started to take credit cards recently, making it a lot easier to make the call to walk through those rattling wooden doors at 2 a.m. still thinking about almost scoring at a bar.

Authentic diner experience, with the ambiance and organized chaos of a bustling diner. Mushroom omelette was awesome along with the sausage gravy and biscuits and Italian toast. Friendly service!!!

We ordered breakfast from here for delivery a few days ago. We leaned more towards appetizers rather than mains and they certainly offer a wide variety of juicy shit: jalapeno poppers, fried mac and cheese bites, fried ravioli, fries, CHEESY fries, I can't remember anything else and it's frustratingly difficult to find their menu online so that will have to suffice. We were relatively conservative with our ordering this time. I snagged an order of their fries (large sized), fried mac and cheese bites, and the good ol' entree version of ravioli. The fries certainly were large and plentiful however not seasoned in any capacity. I could look on the bright side and appreciate the lack of any sog whatsoever but they were so dry that I knew if I tried to sprinkle some salt and pepper, it would just fall off. They were disappointing and flavorless. Thankfully condiments came to our rescue. The fried mac and cheese bites were tasty but if you reference the photo I have included, more like flat triangles than actual balls which increases the surface area and decreases the volume to surface area ratio, greatly decreasing the quantity of MAC. I won't complain about the mac because it was good, but they are not a critical order (when talking about fried mac and cheese, I feel like that says something). The ravioli was just meh. The ravioli themselves were aggressively soft and I feel like I've had better marinara from a bottle. I will accept responsibility for the fact that I ordered ravioli from a diner so I don't know what I was expecting. If I ordered from here again, I would stick with the diner classics and leave the other stuff on the menu.

Apple crisp. Should have taken a photo before ate half! Delicious!

A tasty dinner in a cute diner with terrific staff. Can't beat the combination! Had the lamb shank and warm, freshly out of the oven, apple crisp. The staff was so welcoming. The diner has been run since 1936 by three generations of the same family. The charming woman behind the counter is the granddaughter. A real find in Worcester.

Who eats breakfast at 1 am? Me! Was so happy to find this place but the service was mediocre and the food lacked flavor.

She was working like a well-oiled machine. I couldn't even keep track of my own order, I dunno how she handled five at a time! I asked the nice lady which sandwich she liked and could recommend, and she suggested the turkey with bacon and swiss melt, so I went with it. It didn't disappoint. Quintessential diner fare, done right. I have to admit though, looking around at other plates. Why the heck didn't I get breakfast? Wakey wakey, I love eggs and bacey. I think you will certainly not regret taking advantage of the all-day breakfast. You may not think it, but there *is* an artform to executing diner brekkie right, and it would appear that Kim delivers. I overheard her talking about the development plans just behind the diner. You guessed it. Ugly cardboard condos! I think the diner will survive the onslaught of development and gentrification, but just in case... you better visit soon, because you don't know what you got 'til it's gone.

The place was packed, the staff was friendly, and the walls were a nostalgic sticker bomb, giving the whole diner a time-capsule kind of charm. I had the strawberry-banana ricotta stuffed French toast--sweet, creamy, and dangerous. My partner went savory with a Philly steak & cheese omelette plus homemade corned beef hash that honestly deserves its own Yelp page. My only gripe? I like my hot chocolate super chocolatey, and this one leaned more on the watery side for my taste. Come hungry, leave in a food coma. I'll be back.

Busy joint, tight seating, and energetic servers who keep attentive. -- Patty Melt: So much to like about this, from the marble rye (though I think pumpernickel) to the full size patty (better than the double smashed you get elsewhere) to the onions to the gooey melted cheese to the extreme juiciness and pleasing flavor. I didn't detect any Russian dressing, but this sandwich wasn't lacking for moistness or flavor oomph. A near-elite rendition and one of the best I've had in a while. Excellent. -- Fries: Included with the patty melt and a plentiful supply. The bad news: they're the dreaded industrial "coated" kind. The good news: they were piping hot and cooked perfectly, crisp outside, fluffy inside. The great news: you can substitute home fries.
