A disturbing cracking sound repeatedly occurred when closing the garage door. Although it was not an urgent matter, I worried because anything could go wrong after that. Searching through garage door services, I realized there are 3 different types of services on the market. They are: 1) specializing in installing new garage doors but do not gear into fixing; 2) specializing in solving issues but pricy; 3) specializing in fixing and fair pricing. They're all quality services; however, my garage problem was so minor that all I cared about was getting excellent service at an affordable cost. I picked BGD because they matched the type 3 solution package. Communication is a breeze. Texts mainly confirm the schedule, en route, and completion. BGD sent Valentino to provide an estimate and work. He showed up earlier than the scheduled time on the "estimate" date and left in about 7 minutes. He was seriously dashing, LOL. Work was also completed in under 30 minutes. On the morning of July 4th I heard a loud bang downstairs and it wasn't the fireworks. The spring on my garage door broke and it was time for replacement. I made several calls to compare pricing and met with two technicians for free estimates. Boulevard offered the best price. Valentino was our technician. He was friendly, knowledgeable and got the job done in 20-30 minutes. We replaced both springs ($99 each), when only one spring broke. It best to replace the both springs at once which should last 5+ years. Valentino inspected our entire garage door and noticed our rollers were on it's last leg and recommended replacement so we got everything done with one service call. Saturday morning I called in to Boulevard Garage Doors and was scheduled for a service visit later that same day. This helped me a lot as during the week I get pretty busy. Saturday morning we tried to open our garage door only to find that a spring had broken. We have lived in the house for 29 years and still have the original spring and garage door, which was very heavy and made out of wood. As garage door experts had replaced the motor three years earlier for us, we gave them a call. Before the end of the day Joshua had come out, diagnose the problem and we decided to have him replace the door as well as fix the spring. Six days later Joshua showed up on time for the appointment. He spent several hours all by himself removing the old door, track and springs and replacing it with a new one. The new door is much much lighter than the old one. It opens and closes easily without any squeaking or squealing. Joshua left the area clean when he finished. We felt that it was well worth the price. Joshua is very professional and easy to deal with. He even helped me reset the garage door opener app on my phone. Hopefully we won't need a new garage door in the foreseeable future. This is a first-class operation, providing an outstanding experience from start to finish. Josh initially came out to evaluate the situation with a busted spring and help me decide whether to repair the existing 35-year-old door or replace it. He gave me estimates for both and explained in detail the relative advantages and disadvantages of each. Ultimately I decided to go with the replacement. Josh was very straightforward and clear with me, and I never felt like I was being "sold" anything. He even pointed out some of the previous sloppy work and said he would clean it up and install some upgraded parts, making everything look proper. Although this was just before Christmas weekend, Josh assured me that if I went with Boulevard, they could install a new door within a couple of days after Christmas. Although I received another bid that was about $100 less, I felt more confident with Boulevard's presentation and long years of experience. True to their word, Boulevard's man Cong showed up on Thursday of Christmas week, on time, very professional, and got right to work. Boulevard Garage Doors did a great job repairing my door that got stuck closing today due to one of the wheels falling out of track. They dispatched Joshua same day on a Saturday no less. He explained the original failure (caused by improper installation by the home builder) and indicated that the door was not properly balanced either. I emailed them Saturday night and thought I didn't hear a response but they texted me (as requested) early Sunday AM. I called them bc I didn't see the text and they were informative and answered all my detailed questions. This wasn't a rush job so I took their next available appointment (which was the very next day). Valentino showed up and was super nice and recommended a few things, pointed to a few things and was very honest about stuff. To replace the rollers, replace the two springs with a long life (not the standard ones) and for his service charge it was around $550. Oh yeah, he also programmed my remote, took out dents at the bottom of the door, bolted things closer to the wall and was overall a really nice guy. I think it's a good price. They were very up front with it and it didn't change as he started his work. They also include a five and 9 year warranty. Right after I paid I got emailed a detailed line item receipt.
