This modern Aegean restaurant in Wynwood sits on a very busy street, so if you're Ubering, I highly recommend getting dropped off a block away and walking. It's a one way street and traffic can get backed up, especially during dinner service. The place itself is an absolute vibe. The energy, music, and atmosphere all made for a fun night out. The service was incredible and our server's recommendations were spot on as everything we ordered was fantastic. The branzino was easily my favorite dish of the night and one of the best I've had. At first, the General Manager, CECILIA , confirmed that we arrived with the bag and stated they were reviewing all camera footage. The communication became increasingly contradictory, and instead of transparency and professional assistance, we were eventually accused of acting "fraudulently" and formally trespassed from the property. What shocked us most was not only the disappearance of a valuable personal item, but the way loyal customers were treated afterward: no transparency, no proper cooperation, no accountability, and accusations without clear proof. My favorite was the tomato salad, grouper ceviche and the roasted cauliflower. The pita bread that comes out is delicious and warm. The beet dip is amazing. The pistachio lamb skewer was really good but we would try something else next time. The wood fired chicken was also very good and the salad it comes with was delicious. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the glazed eggplant. I would probably get the doya eggplant next time. They were amazing with my shellfish allergy and were very nice about kids. For that reason, and despite this being my third time there, I was nervous about taking my mom to Doya for Mother's Day. We were a party of 6 and were seated quickly. This spot doesn't look like much from outside, but what a great vibe once you walk through the doors. The open kitchen and layout keeps the energy hot, hot, hot! We went with our server's recommendations, spicy yogurt (10/10), shrimp ceviche (2/10), octopus (100/10) and lamb (8/10). The yogurt dish is for those of us who really enjoy spice, and we can have the dish with about half of the potato sticks on top. The shrimp dish was really a downer for me, especially since the waiter claimed it is so good. As with any Mediterranean restaurant, your octopus better be top-notch, and Doya did not disappoint. The lamb was cooked over both times we ordered it, but still good. We ordered several speciality drinks and, believe it or not, they were all too strong. Yes young people, drinks can be too strong. As with food, it's about balance. We had ice cream and sorbets for dessert and it was a perfect way to end the meal. This spot is cool for date night or when friends from out of town visit. **Vegetarian Friendly** Went to Doya after a year, and noticed they updated their menu with a handful of new items - majority of them being vegetarian friendly so we were tempted to give this place another chance. (1) Turkish Flatbread - They replaced pita with the flatbread/tortillas. The flat bread is served cold, and just doesn't complement the dips like pita bread does. Huge thumbs down. (2) Doya Delight - Labneh was delicious and the sweetness from honey complemented well. (3) Green Goddess - It was a good blend between a tzatiki and feta, but was hoping for a robust flavor with herbs, but it just fell flat. I agree with the other reviews about the hostess being a bit unwelcoming. I went there Wednesday night by myself and asked for a table for one. I was given the directions to the bar. I went back to them to cross check if that's what they meant and yes they were. There didn't give me a table inspite of many vacant tables. It's a week night and only one third of the tables were occupied. I understand if they didn't have enough staff to cover the tables or if they had a different reason. But the way they handled it was a bit disappointing I was too tired by then and already paid for the parking so ended up ordering the food. I had Beyti (lamb wrapped in lavash) and I liked it. People walked by nonstop and stood next to us to let others pass. The ambience was high energy and lots of talking. We couldn't really be part of that vibe due to our seat. We sat right next to the fish, the first table. We asked to be moved since we had a reservation and the girls up front said "no that's the only table we had." Definitely saw available tables, but that's OK. We started with the green goddess with their homemade bread. It was so delicious and creamy with great amount of dill - we added more of the house EVOO. The branzino carpaccio was just OK the pesto dried it out. The mussels were really good bathed in a white wine sauce. The star of the show and I would come back just to have this was the short-rib baklava. We had to try the "Doya Delight" and while it was good, the labneh was very tangy and the honey did not balance it out. Came here with a friend for Miami Spice while back and had a very nice lunch. The interior is warm and beautifully decorated but still cozy, and the service was very attentive. The Miami Spice menu included their complimentary bread with olive oil, and one dip + main plate + dessert each. Our dips were the haydari, a garlicky yogurt dip with mint, and a the muhammara, a savory roasted red pepper dip with walnuts and a touch of pomegranate. Both were light but flavorful and paired well with their housemade thin lavash bread. Our mains were the wood fired chicken thigh which was nicely seasoned with sumac and had a balanced smoky flavor served with an arugula salad, and the kebap (I think it was the adana kebap) which came with a few nicely grilled spiced ground meat patties and a small serving of fluffy seasoned rice. Our desserts were the pastachio baklava which was super flaky and crisp with a nice portion of crushed pistachios on top, and a sorbet served with fresh figs and strawberries. Overall, a solid addition to the Miami food scene with nicely prepared and beautifully presented Greek and Turkish cuisine. The flavors aren't the type to really smack you in the face but everything we had was pretty well balanced and for the most part pretty tasty. This place is a gem. Came here about a month ago and still thinking about the food! The truffle pide lives in my mind rent free! When we arrived there was a bit of a wait, but once we sat down we cpuld understand why. The offers outside and inside seating yet open air and is very beautiful. It is perfect setting for all types of vibes like going with your family and friends or something more intimate like a date. They have a large indoor bar and quality crafted cocktails. I had the milk punch which was so refreshing and light. There are quite a few items on the menu we tried to order but had to pivot because they ran out, however everything we did order was a hit. So if something is out for the day, know that whatever else you go with will probably be just as good! The waiter was so knowlegeable and friendly, and gave amazing recommendations and descriptions of what the dishes are like when asked. We ordered the Pide with Truffle, The Fisherman which was a delicious tomato based seafood broth, Short rib baklava which have a savory flaky bite on a light and creamy yogurt that just went perfectly together, and some wonderful desserts and coffee and tea to wrap it all up. You should definitely make a reservation, but we got lucky and were able to get a table outside without one (but we could only have it for an hour). My friends and I arrived at 8:45 p.m. and were told our table wasn't ready, so we were directed to sit at the bar. After waiting and ordering drinks, I checked back in with the hostess, who rudely claimed they had tried to contact me--despite the fact that we were told to remain at the bar. The communication was unclear, and the attitude was unnecessarily dismissive. Once seated, things unfortunately got worse. Our server made an inappropriate comment implying that I might be too intoxicated to order another drink, which was completely uncalled for and frankly very offensive. Throughout the meal, several items we tried to order were unavailable, which was never communicated upfront. For a restaurant of this caliber, that level of disorganization is surprising. The most disappointing part was the response from the general manager who I went to talk to. Rather than acknowledging the issues or apologizing, we were told that the staff is "trained to behave this way." That response alone speaks volumes. We spent a significant amount of money expecting a high-end dining experience, but the service fell far short. I hope management takes a serious look at how guests are being treated. read more
