I felt better after reading reviews addressing employee attitudes, but unfortunately my experience has been consistent. I come here 2-3 times a week, always order a bagels (plural) to go, and every time I ask for a bag which feels like a pretty basic expectation. Instead, I'm met with the same employee in the back rolling her eyes or making a visibly frustrated face over a normal request. For an almost $7 bagel with cream cheese, asking for a bag should not be treated like an inconvenience. I'm obviously not going to hold bagels in my hands while driving it let them just be out and slide. This isn't a one-off interaction it's repeated. A little professionalism and courtesy would go a long way. It's really not that serious. Just give the bag and move on. This has happened many times and I'm actually learning how to make my own now because this experience has made me so uncomfortable. read more

Popped in for the first time this morning as I've never been to this particular spot and it appeared to be new. I walked into an open clean, crisp spot with a great playlist on. Exceptional vibes were set immediately. I was excited to hear music that dropped last night and looked up to confirm what I thought, a nice Sonos Five providing the soundtrack. Nothing better than being in a spot that appreciates quality audio equipment. Although I was sure I knew what I wanted, I looked at the menu to confirm I was ordering a cup of cold brew. Stepped up to the counter to order my black cold brew with easy ice and an amazing hand pie caught my eye. The barista confirmed there was a triple berry hand pie staring at me and I couldn't resist. She was nice enough to put it in the oven for me, not a microwave. Coffee came up quickly, my hand pie wasn't far behind. The coffee was amazing. Cold brew was perfectly extracted, not bitter and the natural sweetness came through. After I was able to have a few sips of the coffee, the hand pie was ready. It was nice and warm and needed to cool for just a minute or two before it was ready to be consumed. Triple Berry Hand Pie... OMG. It's probably a good thing I started to drive away as I bit into this tiny sliver of amazingness or I may have bought every pie they had to offer. The pastry was buttery, flaky and soft. The filling wasn't overly sweet and had a great balance with the pastry. I'll most definitely be ordering two next time. The coffee was delicious and you could tell because the coffee aroma filled the inside of the coffee shop. There were a few seats inside and a handful of small tables outside. We have been going to this coffee shop since it opened. The husband and wife who own it were always welcoming and kind. The food is delicious, the breakfast burrito is one of the best I've ever had and all the coffee drinks are yummy. Everything is really fresh and homemade, which is great! However, the customer service has consistently gone down hill. For example today, I placed an online order because I had my baby with me and wanted to grab breakfast and head out fairly quickly. The order said it would be ready at 10:40. I got there a few minutes before 10:40 and in most places the order is ready and waiting for you to grab and go. In this case, the order was not ready, (which not a big deal I'll wait since everything is so fresh), instead it seemed as if I interrupted all four employees standing, talking, and laughing. No "Hi, welcome in" and no one even attempting to get the order made. I then had to wait another 10 min for them to make it. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we've felt uncomfortable and like we were interrupting and bothering the employees. I hope the customer service improves so we can feel comfortable to continue to visit one of our favorite coffee shops. read more

I genuinely believe Bound Coffee is one of the best if not THE best coffee shop in north county. My family and I have been coming since it first opened and we have not stopped since. Although we love it, we have been disappointed many times. First, this place rarely has stock of their bagels, how are you as a business out of bagels at 10:30 am on a Thursday and you close at 3pm??? I understand running out on the weekends especially bc this place has blown up recently but let's be honest, people are coming here for the sourdough bagels which they never have enough of. In comparison, I have been to Apollo bagels in NYC with the line wrapped around the entire complex and they somehow never run out of bagels. So I'm trying to understand why Bound can't provide enough product for their little community of customers that are extremely loyal to them. My sister and I used to come here all the time and haven't been disappointed with anything on their menu. The shop is quite cozy and welcoming to make a perfect place to catch up with friends. Friendly baristas and usually fast(er) service when coming on the weekdays. However, over time, we both noticed the quality has gone down each visit in the last few months, especially after they recently parted ways with one of their workers. Our last visit tasted as if the beans were burnt and waited about 40 minutes after getting our coffee, for our bagel to come out: noticeably smaller and not nearly as good as the last couple times we've ordered. While I totally understand that this shop makes everything by hand which takes time, their timing with getting your food along with coffee is absurd. Not to mention the other few times I have come in and they have sold out of their matchas, and most of their syrups during the middle of the day. While the ambiance is still there, the inconsistency in food, coffee, and service has made it hard to enjoy the shop the way we once did. Popped in here while staying in Oceanside on a mini getaway with my husband. Coffee shop was small but modern and clean. They sell local vendor merchandise which is great to see the community supporting each other. They have a complete selection of coffee preparations, a short list of teas, and various house-made syrups. We ordered a hojicha latte, oat milk latte with vanilla camomile syrup and both were delicious. The coffee is smooth and does not taste burnt like some major chain coffee shops. The best lattes I've had away from home in so long! They also make their own sourdough bagels. We ordered an everything cheddar bagel with bacon, egg and cheese. The bagel is crispy on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside with subtle sourdough flavor. Mmmmmmm, perfection! The baristas were very friendly and helpful. I ordered a macchiato which was served traditionally along with a sidecar of sparkling water. My husband ordered an iced vanilla latte with almond milk. We liked that Bound has homemade syrups which is a must have for coffee shops in my book. My macchiato was good, not great and had somewhat of a bitter bite. The latte had a smidge too much syrup for my liking but my husband seemed to enjoy it. The location of the shop is great, on the east side of the 101 with ample parking in a strip mall type building. Stopped in here on a midweek morning while waiting for my husband to finish at the dentist just a block up (Proper 32). The dentist gave me a gift card to Bound, which I appreciate! I very much enjoyed the bacon breakfast burrito (apparently they are known for it, deservedly so). Nicely grilled and generously filled. Lots of potato, but they were tots, so delicious! Decent verde salsa with it. Big step up for me from Angelo's across the street which I'm not a huge fan of. Burrito was about $13. I also got a London Fog (tea latte made with black tea). Kind of had to explain what I wanted and it came out ok, but not outstanding. They do have chai and matcha lattes on the menu, but my drink was an off menu request. About 4 small tables and one larger and some bar seating against the windows inside. Located in a small business strip on Coast Highway in far south Oceanside. There is also a small pastry offering kept in a glass cabinet on the countertop for you to peruse. We ordered a guava cream cheese pastry danish from here and it was sublime. Go in early though because it sells out! I've also had the cortado with oat milk from here and it tasted just perfect.
