Bourbons never disappoints. I have been here countless times and I will always keep coming back. Going to make a bold statement- I think it's the best restaurant in Brighton. Hands down. The food is always good. Always. They just get it right. Favorite items: Fig & Pear Pizza (it's an app) Braised Short Ribs (they are mouthwatering!) Shrimp & Grits (just delicious. Perfect grits, good flavor!) then there is their fried chicken it could be the best fried chicken around. It is so flavorful, moist, and the breading is great. Even better for brunch with their chicken and waffles. Their cocktails are totally yum! The Cajun lemonade is on point every time. The atmosphere is wonderful. Inviting, warm and just cool. Food was excellent. Our waitress was great. The rest of the staff made dinner uncomfortable. We were with friends and stayed less than an hour. The staff hovered around our table trying to take away our drinks and trapped one of our friends while attempting to clear our table. Not a good experience. read more

We visited Bourbons with a large group for a brunch, and it was great! B was in a wedding in Michigan, so we drove up to meet everyone and they hosted a brunch for the wedding party at this spot. We all had a great time! There was a special menu for the brunch, and everything we tried was really tasty. The drinks were good, and the service was great! We also had a lot of fun checking out the art around the space. Some of it is pretty weird, and we started making up stories for the characters in the paintings. Maybe it was the mimosas, but we had a great time doing it! If you're looking for a good restaurant in the area, I would definitely recommend Bourbons! read more

The ambiance is that of a high school cafeteria full of students talking at the top of their lungs trying to be heard over the other students talking equally as loud. YUM. Although as an Oklahoman I wouldn't call this true "southern food" it definitely did not disappoint! We ordered a few entrees to split which ended up the perfect amount for 4 adults that weren't starving. Second only to their cornbread, the short ribs were by far the crowd favorite. They were fall apart tender, well seasoned, and the sauce was just the right amount. I also really appreciated their greens. That's hard to do outside of the south, but they nailed it. This was a wonderful find. We where heading back from the Henry Ford museum, and looked for a place to eat. The next town was Brighton. Bourbons was the winner. The food was excellent the service was cheerful and on the bounce. We started with fried green tomatoes I had the smoked brisket. My wife had chowder and mashed sweet potatoes. This is the third time I have been here. The first two times was for brunch - so so good!! This time we went as a family to celebrate a couple birthdays. When I last lived in Michigan, Brighton was the place where meijers had a store. I was just back to visit relatives and we came upon this place. It was busy but the staff did a good job on getting us seated. I would try to get a booth behind the wall closest to the bar as that seemed to dampen noise levels. The noise is my only complaint. The drinks, food and dessert we're generally good. I'd recommend the fried chicken as that was much better than I expected. We enjoyed our dinner experience at what I would characterize as "upscale southern food". It gets very busy but they do accept reservations (even for small parties) which got the four of us promptly seated while walk-ins had a long wait. The only downside is that although the food is quite good, but it is pricey--the upper $$ range with entrees ranging from $16 to $29. For 4 entrees, an appetizer, and 4 drinks (3 wines, 1 beer) and tax, the bill was about $160. The theme seems to be "sweet": sweet balsamic, sweet bourbon glaze, sweet potatoes, etc. Caprese salad was delicious and had nice portions sizes: it was large enough to be a meal for one, or enough so everyone could get one piece. Shrimp and grits: I've never had grits or collard greens, but if this is what they are always like, it should be a staple at every meal. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and the succotash was a nice flavorful addition providing more than just something colorful on the plate. This dish was recommended by a friend, and now I recommend it. Butternut squash ravioli: Enjoyed greatly by my friend. Fried chicken: My guest said it was good: not great, but better than average. He was still disappointed because they had run out of Michigan trout. read more

Very rude hostess. We arrived with a reservation in place and were hoping to be seated inside (no option to request indoor seating) as we had been walking up and down the Main Street for an event all afternoon in 80+ degree weather. They initially seated us in a high top table directly in the sun, so we requested to sit at a table (still outdoors) with shade. He begrudgingly agreed to our request and as he was approaching the table there was another couple that was being led to the same table. So the hostess proceeded to seat us at the table and very rudely said, "see guys this is why we can't..ugh" and walked away. Very rude. Will not return. Didn't event want to eat here - but did because we had made reservations, lines were long for just about every other establishment, and we needed a break from the heat. read more

Round two just as good as round 1. Great service and tried the French dip and a few different apps. All worth the wait. Yes the French dip was stacked and flavorful, not bland like some others. Didn't need a lot of additional sides or seasoning. Try the collard greens, the shrimp app, and the onion dip app. Loaded with flavor but not over done. So impressed by my first visit! Came for lunch with a few family members. Service was excellent. I regret that I can't remember our server's name a week later but she was great. Maybe Krystle? Menu is very interesting, very Southern. It's not cheap but it was worth every penny. My fried chicken lunch had enough leftovers for another meal. I wish they didn't put the honey(?) sauce on the chicken as it made the skin a little soggy but the mashed potatoes, okra & biscuit were on point. Very nice beer selection. A truly delightful place with enough interesting choices to come back a second time throughout a three day visit. The pork belly burnt ends pack so much flavor and are truly the best I've tasted. The french fried pickles are an obligatory companion to the extensive list of available bourbons. The shrimp and grits with collard greens, as well as the braised short ribs are absolute favorites among the entrees. The flat bread with truffle oil and the classic French dip are a must try. Their menus didn't offer vegan options for soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, and entrees except vegan hummus with veggies. They should have honored what vegan customers wanted and added several plant-based or vegan options. 100% plant-based meals are healthier than their menus. read more

Main Street in Brighton is a pleasant little group of stores and restaurants to browse through. Bourbons is definitely a delicious place to eat!! Classy decor with a comfortable atmosphere. Variety of cocktails, lots of beer choices and a nice wine selection. We started with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends...which melted in your mouth. A nice small appetizer, even though it sounds like a lot to eat before your entree. It's perfect. Lunch was the Bourbon St Burger. This is masterpiece of a good burger. Cooked just right, too...medium means pink!! And the BLT!!! Wonderful bacon...and a lot of it!! As fresh as a tomato can get in May and good sourdough. Fries served with each were perfect. I thought the food was excellent, but the person I was with ordered a steak and it was slightly overcooked for their liking (but still very good). I'm not sure if it was the manager or owner who came out, but they apologized and took it entirely off our bill without us even asking. They also offered her something else free of charge for the inconvenience. I just thought it was really above and beyond service, and I appreciate places like this that care if you have a good experience. read more

Have been to Bourbons multiple times and enjoyed. Sunday brunch yesterday however was a disappointment. Had a reservation at noon, we're seated promptly and food was delivered within 10 minutes. Happy with quick service but we weren't even halfway through our meal and could already tell they were ready to seat another group at our table. We were barely there for 45 minutes and we're basically being pushed out the door. I get a 90 minute table all allotment but 45 minutes for brunch we're they advertise it as a leisurely place to catch up with friends is sad when spending 40+ on brunch per person. Also, very tacky to have people constantly looking over your table at your plate with their I pad to plan next seating every 5 minutes. :( read more

While exploring downtown Brighton with our friends we decided to stop into Bourbons for a drink. They weren't terribly busy and we sat in the front sun room which had a nice fire going. Luckily for us the sun was also out, making it bright and welcoming. Between us we tried the Brown Sugar Bourbon (we split a pour so we each had an ounce over ice), the Cajun Lemonade, the Ramos Gin Fizz, the Rosemary Bourbon Sour, and the Smoked Old Fashioned. All of the drinks were good- well made and tasty. We like some more than others as we all tasted each others. They have a very nice menu for food which looked awesome although we had just eaten and didn't try anything. Plenty of nice bourbon, whiskey, scotch, and cognac to choose from for a flight. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and checked on us often enough to make sure we were okay, but gave us plenty of space to just hang out and enjoy the space, our drinks, and each others company. Met up with my girlfriends today at Bourbons for Sunday brunch and loved everything about it! I was torn between ordering from the brunch menu or lunch, and decided on brunch since that is what we initially planned on. First, I will say I personally felt that the prices were fair for a 'made from scratch ' menu, and the portion size was just right for me. My boyfriend on the other hand has a big appetite, and he probably could have eaten one and a half or two brunch entrees. If you are really hungry, it might be a good idea to order an extra side dish. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was amazing. The chicken was so tender and the breading was delicious. The Michigan cherry sauce drizzled on top was homemade in-house and excellent. I would have loved a little more of the sauce, but decided to go with maple syrup instead and enjoyed that as well. I ordered a side of bacon to go with my meal, and it was thick cut and cooked to perfection [imho]. My friends ordered the eggs Benedict and French toast, and all three of us cleaned our entire plates. I also have to comment on the coffee because it was *that* good. Had a great dinner at Bourbons tonight. Highly recommend making a reservation, the restaurant was very busy. I had the 6oz filet with redskin mashed potatoes and green beans and it was delicious. Not a huge fan of the burnt ends as an appetizer as they were pretty fatty and not burnt. We also had the hummingbird cake which was pretty delicious! read more
