I needed somewhere to pick up a casual bite after visiting another place in town. Yelp pulled Bout Time out as a nice option. When we arrived outside it wasn't looking like such a nice option. However, upon entry things looked better. They had really interesting beer options on tap. That was a good sign. The menu was filled with classic bar food options. I saw they claimed fresh ground beef. That is unusual. I went for the classic cheeseburger. I ordered medium rare. Unfortunately, it came medium well. My wife ordered the patty melt the same way, and it showed up medium well as well. That was not a good start. The meat still had some juice. It tasted like meat - that's a big deal. Some major burger places, have burgers that don't taste like meat. The fries that accompanied the burger were fantastic. Along with better than expected fry sauce, I still left happy. There's large monitors all around showing more sports than I would have thought existed. The music is loud, always has a big drum beat, and a hard bass line going. It covers grunge, hard rock, punk, and more over the last 40 years. I'd like a little less driving music. Another table nearby agreed, but I assume it works for others. Am I a regular? I feel like I am. I stop by 2-3 times a week. I'll usually have a beer and a menu item. If I'm feeling hungry I'll get an appetizer too. The service is always above and beyond. Even when's it's busy the bar tenders always treat you right, they are attentive and all smiles. The food is just as good as the service. I've had 90 percent of their menu. All of it had been fantastic (except the wings but I'm a wing snob). Their fries, side salads, appetizers, burgers and fish and chips are the tops. But their Reuben... oh the Reuben. WOW!! We tried this pub out for the first time tonight. So yummy! We got the Little Chubby, which is 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with a burger in the middle. It's huge and super delicious! We also got the make your own burger. It's a large burger on what appears to be a homemade bun. You have an option to choose 3 items among many in addition to the normal lettuce, pickles, onions, and tomato. We chose ham, Swiss cheese and avocado. So, so yummy! They both came with fresh hand cut fries and a delicious dipping sauce, similar to Training Tables. We also got pretzels that came with both mustard and queso dip. We definitely will be going back! We joined a couple friends at this bar the other night. They had received great reviews for their food and we wanted to watch the game. The bartender was good, and very friendly, but we ordered another beer and he forgot to bring it to us. We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls and the Hat Trick skewers. The seasoned fries were excellent, but unfortunately the only edible part of the meal. The meat skewers, all of them, chicken, beef, and shrimp, all smelled like dirty socks and didn't taste much better. I believe they desperately needed to clean their grill. The egg rolls we very bland and almost flavorless. Once the game ended and the Karaoke started, it became almost painful to be there. The outside looks really scary, and the inside is very dark and loud. Typical sports bar food and atmosphere. Food was so slow, we had to take it to go, as we were on our lunch break. With only a couple other people in the place, it wasn't because they were packed. I got a turkey sandwich, which was fine. Friends got meat skewers, and they couldn't eat them because they were too spicy. It seamed like a good place, plenty of TVs to watch sports. The food was okay. On a Thursday night it sounded more like a dance club than a sports bar. From the time we got there the music got louder. When we asked about watching and hearing the NFL draft we were told it was NBA finals. On to the service, it was lacking very much. The waiter had very little table time and left for long periods. We asked for the checks, it again took a while. We had our payment waiting when he took the table next to us, and then left us hanging. I took our bills and payment to him at the wait station. When he returned with copies to sign he just set the stack on the table. I would pick Buffalo Wild Wings next time. read more

Staying in our R.V. and looking for fish and chips on a Sunday afternoon when most everything is closed. Stumbled on this place on Yelp and gave it a try even though we don't drink alcohol. Great variety on menu. All 3 of us had fish and chips. Homemade chips, delicious cod, deep fried! Very generous serving. Server was very sweet and accommodating. Went on a Friday night with a old Navy buddy and his wife. We had a groupon from Christmas. First time at this location. We had a great time. Our waitress ( I think her name was Keri) was great. She had great suggestions for drinks and was constantly checking to see if we needed anything. The bartender Scott was awesome and very good at his job. He also stopped by our table and chatted. Awesome. New owners. Specials daily. This is the place to go in Layton. Pool table. Great old rock music. Tall tables for large groups. Taryn is amazingly friendly during the day and weekdays. Love that girl. She is why we have been back five times. The older is clean, open, and ample parking. Stuart (stu) is not as mean as he looks. Just wished he would shake the military persona and smile. Great place for friends to meet after work and hangout. Pool table in corner. We love this place. First off the food was good. However, the service was less than to be desired. The bartender was not attentive in the least, she did not smile nor ask if we needed anything else when our food arrived. I had to flag her down to even order, she had no interaction and was severely lacking personality as well as being rude. Once our beers were gone she didn't even ask if we wanted another. She seemed annoyed when it came to paying our bill which we requested after the single beer, because I was not about to give her more money. I probably won't return if she is the bar tender. If I did and she was there it would be a walk in and then a quick turn and walk out. Sorry paying customers inconvenienced her so much. The only reason this place gets a 1 from me is because of the chef. He did a great job. Came in about an hour before last call (1240). Asked if the kitchen was still open and the two female bartenders told me it wasn't, and chef was done for the night. Then while I waited for them to take my drink order I heard the chef come out and ask if they had any other food orders, they said no. Then my tender "preggers" asked if he could make chips and salsa, and he agreed. Since that time I have had to go to her to ask for every single drink, including the one she made incorrectly. I just went up and asked for another one bringing her my dirty glass and everything and she chose to serve the "attractive" male patrons before me. So I guess what I'm saying is don't expect quality service and definitely dont anticipate it unless you are good looking. Thanks anyways bout time. She suggested I use the atm and that was the only way I could pay. I told them I could run up the street to my bank and they tried to bully me. Very unprofessional and bitchy staff. We got together as a group of nurses and wanted to have a good time. We were treated terrible after asking if we could sit together and told we could only have 6 people to a table. Apparently she couldn't count because we only had six people. If I could rate lower, I would. The bar was understandably busy on a football Sunday but we waited for 15 minutes at the least and had NO recognition by wait staff. Immediately when we went in we started questioning to ourselves whether it was going to be good because it was full on bar scene. We decided to give it a shot and I am glad we did. We found a table easily because me and my wife went early. The store was very very clean and everyone in there seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves. The environment was already very welcoming. A waitress came over pretty quick to get our order. We got drinks but still needed time to decide on food. When the waitress came back we asked her for suggestions because everything looked very good. My wife ordered the monte cristo and I ordered the garlic burger. We also order some queso deep. The dip which came with chips seemed regular, but our sandwiches were both excellent. They came with fries and delicious house made fry sauce. We will definitely be returning for another garlic burger. The waitress was super nice and the kitchen was very quick. They easily earned their five stars last night. I have been to lucky 13 many times for their garlic burger. I now have somewhere close to drive that is just as good in my opinion. read more

We won't be back. I'm generously giving this place 3 stars, because I only have one experience to judge them by. My experience was a 1 star, but based on the number of people there, they must be doing something right, so I will give them credit for that. If you plan to try this place, I recommend picking a slow time...like Tuesday at 2pm. For our first visit we chose a prime time, Friday evening. Bad idea. The place was essentially full, just a couple of empty spots at the bar, and an open table or two, which has to say something. Clearly people like the place. Unfortunately there were only a couple of bartenders and one waitress for the whole place. All of them were definitely hustling and working hard to please their regulars. We certainly expected to wait, since it was prime time on Friday. I have no problem with slow service when things are so busy. But the reason I won't try the place again is just because of how utterly and completely ignored we were. We were ignored so completely that several customers even apologized to us on behalf of the staff. Perhaps if we had been waiting at a table somewhere we could have simply chalked it up to a busy night. However, as we were seated at the bar we had a front-row seat for the show. After roughly 20 min we were able to catch the bartenders attention long enough to get menus. Another 30 min or more passed without even so much as a glass of water or a drink order taken, let alone served. We really didn't mind waiting, it was more the discomfort we felt. After multiple people who were obviously regulars (bartenders know by name) came in, were seated, served drinks, and even ordered and received food while we waited, it started to feel as though we had crashed a party. Like we had inadvertantly let ourself into a private club, but everyone was too busy to fill us in. Clearly food and drink was not in the cards for us that night, so we gathered our things and left. As it became apparent we had decided to leave, several people near us apologized, one gentlemen, who was a recent arrival, even apologizing over his meal. Yet the bartenders still never even noticed. I think this place is one of those you have to work into. Pop in a few times for drinks, or just to say hi with no expectations of service. Build those relationships. Get to know the staff by name. I've been to the Layton location several times before writing a review because I wanted to give it a fair shot. I've been there on Friday nights during the NBA playoff games (busy but fun atmosphere) and during the weekdays when I was one of two customers in the bar. I've sampled several things on the menu and various drinks, so here is my experience and opinion. The food is pretty good overall (The cheeseburger and fries are my favorite). The prices are on par with what you'd expect at a pub. Cheeseburger, fries and beer runs about $15 bucks. The overall place is clean, and usually has various sports on or music playing which makes it a cool place to visit for a quick bite/beer or to watch a game. Each time I've gone the service has been mediocre at best. I sat at the bar last time and waited about 10 minutes before the lady even acknowledged me or asked if I want a drink. There were only 5 people counting me in the bar. They spent more time texting and taking a smoke break than taking care of customers. After I got my beer she walked away before I could order food. I had to wait until after her smoke break to order food and there was no menus on the bar. The food was good, the beer was cold, place was clean and the price was average $15. After 5 visits I can say the service needs improvement. Would be really great place if they turn that around. I think everyone appreciates being acknowledged, and a bit of follow up. I would have ordered another beer if they bothered to ask or stop by before finally bringing the check. read more

I met my wife and friends after work specifically to watch the baseball playoff game and the game wasn't on. It was pretty busy and they had one bartender (owner's son) and one waitress. The waitress did the best she could for a crowded night and the food was good. When I arrived I asked the bartender (owner's son) if he would switch over one of the many tv's to the baseball game and he told me that he was busy and wouldn't be able to get to it for a while. We have been there four times. Great beer and drinks. Friendly and helpful bartenders. Each time we have tried something different to eat. I believe they need a new cook. The wings are dry lacking much flavor other than the sauce. The Monte Crisco is a deep fried sandwich that is so greasy we quit eating it. It made my wife and I both sick. The philly steak pizza has good favor but also is extremely greasy. Garlic fries came out soaking in grease. We have tried seven different items on there menu and have been unhappy with all of them except the Nachos. I guess the cook hasn't figured out how to make them greasy yet. I stress yet. Great sports bar. Been on the road a couple of weeks and finding a "bar" is hard pressed in this state. Nice size bar, several beers on tap, a bunch of big screen TV's with several hightop tables. Super friendly bar maids made us feel welcomed. I had the crispy wings, not so great. Kind of dried out, meat stuck to the bones. 8 wings for $12 so price was ok. He had the loaded nachos. Said they were good. I doubt I will ever be in this area again but if so would go back for the beer and sports viewing. read more
