The cafe is spacious and there seems to be plenty of seating space but due to Covid, the chairs and tables are moved to the side. They have additional "outdoor" seating that is screened in. However, we were greeted and attended to right away so that helped mitigate the feeling of confusion. They have tons of cookies and cakes on display. They're colorful and fun. Portion: 5 You get what you pay for here so there are no surprises when it comes to getting the cookies and cakes. We didn't order any hot food so we can't speak to the portions for that. A large latte is larger than a Starbucks grande. Flavors: 4 I love that the cookies are not overwhelmingly sweet. They hit the spot but I not the best butter cookies I've had. Again, we didn't order their hot food so the review for flavors isn't for that. I will update when we have a chance to try their hot food. Judging from their menu and pictures, they look delicious! My wife and I decided to have breakfast here on a very quiet Friday morning before New Years Eve. When we picked up breads and cakes over time we had seen how busy they were serving breakfast/lunch. My wife and I each ordered the French Toast Frutti Bi Bosco. In other words, Challah French Toast with mixed berries. We also ordered a side of apple smoked bacon and coffee. The French toast consisted of two very thick and large pieces of Challah bread. We are talking 3 or 4 inches thick. Lots of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Tasty. The bacon consisted of six strips hanging from a "clothes line." Again, very tasty and love the presentation. As coffee snobs, we would say the coffee was very good. The prices were very reasonable. Oh my God! We came here for our Valentine's Day breakfast date. They were full, but accommodated us is less than 10 min after our arrival. Me & my moms first time going here . It was great , our food was really good . We just had to order quick because the kitchen closes at 3p and we got there at 2:40p . Next time we'll go early so we can really go over the menu . But our server nick was really good , he was funny and attentive . I've gone to Bovellas in Westfield many times, & their desserts are top notch. I've also had the desserts here at the Mountainside location, same quality. This is my 1st time ever eating the food though. They have a pretty nice menu, the food being brought out to the people around us all looked great. My friend & I kept it simple. She had the Avocado Benedict, & I had the Jersey Taylor Ham , Egg, & Cheese. Both were good, but nothing to rave about. I would still definitely come back to try some of the other things on the menu. They looked & sounded delicious (based upon the menu description). This location has its own free parking lot, unlike the Westfield location which is surrounded by metered parking, which is hard to find directly near the location. So that's a step up. The staff was friendly, & fun, often making jokes with the guests. It was very crowded though, so that's good for them. Says that they are a popular location. read more

I went in to Bovellas since we were at the restaurant across from their bakery. We were at Echo Tap & Grill celebrating my son graduating and I needed a cake in a bind so I walked across the street to Bovellas. Bovellas is conveniently located on Route 22 East in Springfield. It's very easy to get to, right before the AMC Movie Theatre. The bakery was clean inside and smelled of yummy fresh baked goods. I noticed plenty of parking in their own lot. The place was somewhat busy for this time of day. There were people sitting at tables and others standing in front of the glass cases enclosed with baked goods. They had a wide selection of baked goods - plenty of cakes to choose from. I was very surprised to be approached by a worker within 2 minutes of me standing there. She asked if there was anything she could assist me with. We asked questions about the cakes and she was so helpful and polite. I decided to go with the white chocolate mousse cheesecake. The bakery wrote "Congratulations" along with my son's name on the cake and we went on our way. The cake was $30. It was enough to feed our entire party of 12 with a few slices left over. I must say the cake was delicious! I am very pleased with the service I received from Bovellas. You don't find such impeccable service like that everywhere. I will definitely be back - probably on a dessert date with my daughter next week. I absolutely recommend this place to everyone! read more

The desserts are delicious! However, the service is horrible. We were met with confused staff with no adult manager in sight. She didn't know what box to put the cookies in. She was coughing all over our pastries multiple times! It was not crowded and she took forever. Then she made our coffee. I asked for cream she put in some kind of French vanilla another lady assisted she was nice however, her fingernails were disgusting when dealing with food need to tell your stuff to clean their nails. Then we sit down and this family with three small children walk in the dad nicely asked the waitress to please ask the kitchen if they could make the Daughter avocado toast. It was 10 minutes before the 3 PM closing of the kitchen they denied this request the poor family went to the car with the kids in tears. I did give it a three because the pastries really are good there, but the customer service is severely lacking!! Hope they can improve. Sometimes, you say to yourself...Never Again. This place created that feeling for me. I love bakeries and baked goods and when this place opened I thought I'd give them a try. First red flag was when I entered... I went straight to baked goods displays and was soundly ignored. I had to go down to where the register was to ask for help. And again, that was after being ignored at the register. If you don't say anything, nothing is said to you. Secondly, as someone else mentioned, no prices on displayed items. This led to my serious decision to never come back. I ordered two non-priced pastries and a cup of coffee to go. This was a problem. Apparently nobody ever gets coffee to go here. They had to dig up a cup and lid for me. Then the moment of truth.... $17+ for a cup of coffee and two pastries. WHAT?!?!?!?!?! The manager explained to me about the high quality ingredients of the pastries and their reputation. I thought "OK, I'll give it a chance but they better be the best damn pastries I've ever tasted." Needless to say, they weren't. They were big and weighty, but delicious? Not. I felt really taken advantage of and that's when I said "never again". And I've never gone back. Ordered my daughter's graduation cake from Bovellas... it was very disappointing! Cake was a long thin rectangle shaped cake with hardly any cake, there was so much fudge filling I couldn't cut the cake. The top layer was chocolate cake which tasted like nothing, the bottom layer was vanilla cake which was barely 1/4 inch thick. The entire cake was mostly fudge filling which made for very difficult cutting. Upon cutting the cake, the knife would get stuck in the thick fudge causing each slice to fall apart, making for a very messy piece of cake on a plate. Very disappointing to say the least! read more
