I don't think I have ever encountered a business with such incredible customer service as this one. From start to finish, all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was my first bow purchase and Nick was so awesome! He explained everything so thoroughly and didn't just try to sell me whatever was most expensive. Not only did he help me pick out the bow that was just right for me, but he spent at least 20-30 minutes teaching me proper form and helping me learn how to shoot. One of the other staff members even helped my boyfriend with his form and tuned his bow, even though he wasn't there to purchase anything. I honestly don't think I could have had a better experience and will never go anywhere else for any future purchases. If you're thinking about going anywhere else, don't. I need to give this place 10 stars for customer service and friendliness. I ordered my bow from another local shop. Had them install my sight, peep and arrow rest. When I asked about dialing everything in. They just said "Oh, you'll figure it out". Umm, really? Having only done archery once with my cousins bow. I'm supposed to know what to do? So, I went to the range at Balboa Park and attempted to dial in my bow by myself. My friend was there and he helped me dial it in a little bit. But, we really didn't work on my body mechanics, stance or grip. I just winged it. One of the guys at the range recommended the Bow N Arrow shop. Even gave me a card. So, I decided to go there this morning. The moment I walked in I knew that this was a cool shop. I was greeted by EVERYONE in the shop. They asked what I needed. After explaining my situation Dave took me over to their range and asked me to shoot a couple of arrows. It was clear to him and Bruce (the owner) that my bow was not set up well at all. They set about readjusting the way my arrow lay in the rest. Had me shoot more. Readjusting my sight and peep. We then set about going through my body mechanics. Dave showed me how to stand, draw and hold my bow. He had me shoot over and over. Readjusting my peep and sight. Shooting over and over. Finally dialing everything in. We shot a few more and Dave said it was good to go. Even Bruce got into the picture. Helping me out while Dave was assisting other customers. Both gentleman had an awesome knowledge base but, more importantly, great senses of humor. I was kind of nervous at the beginning but that soon went away with their instruction. Bruce said that he wanted to make sure everyone who left his shop was an archer. Thanks to them I now feel like one. If you're interested in beginning archery. Come here. Don't go anywhere else. I found this place on Yelp and decided to make the drive and see what it was all about. I used to be into archery when I was young and decided I wanted to pick it back up again. I went in there alone and didn't feel intimidated at all. Nick was super helpful in helping me select a bow that would work for me and took the time to show me how to use it properly. He got me all set up and out the door for cheaper than I thought but still including quality service and gear. As a teen I used to love archery but gave it up as life intruded. Now in my 60s, I decided to give it another go. After researching compound bows online I decided to visit the Bow N Arrow Shop in Lakeside. I've heard a lot of good things about this shop and it looked like a good bet so I dropped by for a visit. I was greeted the moment I walked into the shop and after wandering around for about a minute a gentleman named Dave asked if he could answer any questions. We chatted about my needs and he immediately set about preparing a bow for me to try out. Long story short, Dave was great! He was patient, answered all my questions, gave me some really good "form" tips as we shot some arrows in the indoor range, and he was able to solve my old eyes issue with a "Verifier" peep lens. When he spotted a bit of "creep" while I was holding at the full draw backstop, he adjusted the draw length shorter by 1/2 inch, which made it perfect. I was there almost two hours and Dave spent the entire time working with me and exchanging stories. I left with a new bow, arrows, peep, hard storage case and cable wax. Dave recommended I come by the shop again after practicing for a few days to check on my "form" and to adjust the bow if needed. I'll definitely take him up on the suggestion. The shop was full of customers the entire time I was there and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I highly recommend this shop. read more

So this is a little bit of a story but worth your time. I've been wanting to get into bow hunting for a long time but being a single dad raising 2 kids things are pretty tight. Finally about a month ago I had a little extra money and went to Bruce's shop. My friend told me how great it was so I went. I went in on a Saturday morning and the place was packed and super everyone that worked there was super busy, but they kept checking on me and told me they'd be with me in just a bit. I saw Bruce helping one customer individually for the whole time I was there ! You just never see that anymore .. Where the owner takes the time to be out there helping someone get something they love and was right for them. Anyway it was my turn and I have very long arms so I only had 2 choices of bow. I shot the cheaper one $600 and loved it. I walked out of there with a brand new PSE bow. I can't tell you how excited I was! I was out in our yard shooting at a target with my son Loving it. My daughter called me inside and I set me bow down on the table. My 12 year old son at that point decided he wanted to see how it worked (being safe without an arrow of course ) he somehow he drew it back far enough to dry fire it and bend a cam and fray the string. I came back out and almost cried. I went back to the shop and they said it would cost about $340 to fix. Welp that's it no hunting this year. The next week I get a call from my friend and he said Bruce already ordered the parts for me and that I'd have 2 months to get it covered. I honestly didn't believe him. I went in today and talked to Bruce. He told me he really wanted to get me hunting this year. And I needed a couple of months to practice. Let me remind you I've only met this man once. Bruce did one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me without even really knowing me. He didn't have to do it. That's the thing. He has now got a customer for life. And that ladies and gentlemen is how you run a small business. If you're a bow hunter. Give this man your money. read more

After doing a search on line for local shops that carry more than just a toy bow and arrow we decided to venture all the way to east county for our son's first authentic archery set. It was worth the drive. Nate, who was great with our 10 year old, was an amazing help and a fountain of information. The shop was busy so make sure you carve out a couple of hours to spend there. It's worth it though. They have many more "advanced" sets than they do beginner sets (in my estimation) but what Nate steered us towards is PERFECT for our son. The people that work here are so nice. I went in on Saturday to get my dads old recurve bow fit with a string and some arrows. I am new to archery and my dad gave me his old bow from high school (which is 50+ years ago). My husband also purchased a compound bow. I have mainly worked with Dave. Dave is so patient and kind. Even when the store is busy, which it has been the two times I have been there, Dave takes his time to answer my questions and make sure I get what I need. The second time I came back was to buy a three finger glove (yesterday). A gentleman at the range let me try his on glove and I really liked it. I described it to the guys at the shop and they asked someone to pull it up in a catalogue. It looks like the exact one I tried on at the range, so they must really know their stuff to go off a basic description which I supplied. After going to the range Sunday and having such a good time I plan on going at least weekly. It helps to be so interested in this new sport, because I know I have a great store with great people I can visit to get what I need and who will answer any questions I have. I am taking my friend here next week to look at getting a simple recurve as well. read more

I've known Bruce and his shop for many years, I bought my first, second, third, and now fourth bow (and countless arrows) all from Bruce and each time I go back, I am reminded of why I love this shop. Last night (Friday), 15 minutes before they closed, I went in to pick up a Bowtech Carbon Icon that Bruce had ordered for me on Wednesday (he originally said it would take a week or two, so having it in two days is even better). When I arrived, Jeff went to immediately start setting up my bow to fit me. Bruce dropped everything to greet me and say welcome back to his shop. After setting my bow up, we went to the range to shoot it, and my technique was not the same it used to be, partially due to not shooting a fitted compound bow in many years and basically having to start all over again. I could not get the peep hole lined with the sight to save my life. Jeff worked with me, but we couldn't get me lined up on the sight. At this point, its about 6:45 (45 minutes after closing), the shop is empty and its just Bruce, Jeff, Dave, Jim, and I. All the men there were getting calls from wives and family members asking where they were, and they were staying behind and helping me out. Bruce even told the others to go home and be with their family, but they stayed behind because they saw I was struggling with my bow. After many adjustments to the bow and I, we got a sight picture. But they weren't done, now they had to ensure the bow was accurate to where I was hitting, so they adjusted the sights as well when they could have encouraged me to leave since I could now safely shoot the bow. I left the shop at 7:30pm, an hour and a half after closing. Even though I came late in the day, I did not expect to be there that long because I was unaware my form was so horrendous, and Bruce, Jeff, Jim and Dave made sure I did not leave his shop before I knew what I was doing. It truly speaks volumes to the men that work there to stay behind that late and work on one customer when they could have easily told me to come back the next day and figure it out then. This is the reason I have always used Bruce and the Bow N Arrow shop and this is the reason I always WILL use Bruce and the Bow N Arrow shop. read more

BEST ARCHERY SHOP AROUND! I recently took my son down to get set up with a bow for his birthday. Dave and Bruce realized early on that my son and I had ZERO experience and very little knowledge of archery and the various types of bows, etc. They guided us through the selection process, fitting each type of bow to my son before having him try it on their in-store range. They hooked us up with an excellent kit at the same price as I would have paid at one of the giant sports catalog houses. I honestly don't know where to start!! The staff here is amazing. Coming to this shop as a newby to Archery it was a bit intimidating. That was until I walked in the door and instantly became one of the guys. We hung out cracked jokes and honestly I felt as if I fit right in. Bruce and nick where the 2 that took the most time with me teaching me as much as they could in a short amount of time from my mechanics to the mechanics of the bow it self. They set up several bows for me taking the time to explain what the differences are between them all. Bruce especially spent a big amount of time simply watching me let arrows fly to instruct me on what I'm doing incorrectly. He literally worked with me for hours . My first trip to this shop Bruce turned me away from buying anything because he wanted me to go home and do research on the models I tried, he also wanted to make sure I knew exactly what I wanted. This is something that you just don't see now a days. When I returned and tried a few other bows he was wright the PSE I thought I liked turned into my obsession for the Bow Tech Reign7. I am so lucky to have found this place and honestly the purchasing experience was amazing. Everyone should take a note on how Bruce runs things here it is perfect customer service. I left feeling as if I'm part of the family there and will continue to go just to shoot and suck up all their archery and hunting wisdom.
