    POKE BOWL (LARGE)

THE BEST place for a poke bowl, they do not play with their toppings and the portion sizes are the best I've had in Atlanta! It tastes amazing and the service is great.

Confession time: I don't like poke bowls. If you're like me, the word 'poke' makes you think of raw fish, and perhaps the thought of raw fish evokes some queasy feelings. I get it; I'm right there with you. But I hope you won't let that keep you from trying Bowl Lab. Non-fish eaters will be happy to find out they've added gyudon beef, tofu, cooked shrimp, and chicken to the menu of protein offerings. Besides proteins, there's a lot of other customizations available, from the rice/salad base, to the mix-ins and sauces. My compunctions with my meals here have been few but notable. First, there seems to be a limit to the number of crunch toppings (e.g. onion crisps, fried garlic, rice puffs, furikake, etc.) that you can add atop your bowl. I'm a big fan of contrasting textures in my meal, so I've often wished I could add more than the maximum of two tiny spoonfuls. My other drawback is sheerly a me-opinion. There's plenty of sauces available, but I've yet to find one that hits just right for me. Some are muted, others are overpowering. My personal favorite is a spicy mayo, which most poke bowl joints seem to have, but Bowl Lab is surprisingly without. Since the sauce comprises such a significant part of the meal's resulting flavor, I've sometimes brought my own Sriracha mayo to the restaurant to ensure I'll have a happy meal. All that said, everything is always incredibly fresh. There's never any fishy smell - in the restaurant or in our bowl - and we often leave feeling satisfied with the serving size. Service here has always been quick, efficient, and polite. There's a limited number of tables and stool seating against the windows, but it's often pretty quiet in here and we've never struggled to find seats.

Bowl Lab is my favorite poke spot in the area! It is located in Vinings, next to Cafe Comma. It is really nice inside, and they have a good amount of seating. I appreciate that there is a free parking deck, as well as a few short term spots out front. The first time I went, I wasn't sure what to get, and the staff was really helpful to help me decide. I got the sunny salmon bowl, which is so tasty and definitely my favorite! I love the pineapple in that one, as well as the crab salad and shrimp that are added to it! You can also build your own bowl, which is always fun. The ingredients are always fresh. The pricing is good. A regular bowl is $10.85, a large is $12.95, and and x-large is $14.95. Definitely check it out if you haven't been!

First time trying a Poke bowl establishment and I am in love! I was looking for something semi healthy yet filling for opt and decided to try somewhere outside my normal "greens and grains" type joint. Upon walking in, I see that this is a very popular place as the staff cranked out numerous in person and online orders. Despite being busy, the staff answered any questions I had as a poke newbie and helped me create a delicious bowl

I absolutely love this place! I come here about twice a month! The bowl is very delicious and filling!

Came to the Bowl Lab for a healthy lunch . Traditionally I've been disappointed with the serving sizes of these poke / bowl places ( 90% rice 10% protein) as well as high prices . I must say I was pleasantly surprised here . The selection process is standard as you pick your choices of base, greens etc . I was delighted by the serving sizes and the price was fair as well - the result was a tasty lunch with all expectations met ( nice service too ) . Highly recommend

Capped it off with their desserts. Ube banana pudding with Oreos. Sooo good. Jeasica is amazing. Very personable. Felt like i was ordering food from my baby sister. Very caring and considerate.

Hubby selected the tofu bbq bun and it was very good. Not very spicy despite the $1 upcharge for the spicy sauce. I selected the salad rice bowl with gently just fried with a crunchy crust tofu. Hold the mayo for me. Good portion ! With the combo meals spring rolls and drink included. Spring rolls were hot and crunchy but basically empty. Would not order those again. Beverages were $3 ala carte which is a ripoff. So , bun and bowl were winners, just bring your own drinks .... Friendly patient staff, would be nice if hand sanitizer was present since they sell finger food....

I'm from SoCal…read moreand my parents were born in Hawaii, and L&L has many locations in both places, so am very familiar with L&L. Martin decided to drive us here to try out the Hawaiian food. Parking was easy to find in a free parking lot shared by other neighboring businesses. L&L is in one end of a retail building, and people have to go up some steps to get to the entrance. If steps are challenging to L&L customers, they can park in spaces on the opposite end of the building where there aren't any steps. Counter service was friendly and quick. L&L is in a small space, awkwardly set up, so that if there's a line of customers either waiting in line to place their orders or waiting inside for their food, they're standing right next to the tables. It's not enjoyable to be sitting at a table eating a meal while customers in line are standing no more than 2 feet away checking out what's on your plate. There were at least a couple of tables outside on the side of the building, meaning you have to take the steps down to get to that area, or, if you're physically challenged taking the steps down you'll have to go all the way down to the other end of the building, and walk (or roll) where cars are driving (no sidewalk along the parking lot) to get to the outside tables. While we were eating, the line of people waiting to place their orders grew to about 15 (which included 2 families), and the standing room only area inside quickly got very crowded and noisy. I felt the food was pricey for what we got. I ordered the bbq beef plate and Martin ordered the kahlua pork with cabbage plate. The teriyaki sauce on the bbq beef had a bold flavor, but it was was very salty. The kahlua pork tasted bland to me. Both of the plates came with 2 scoops of steamed white rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The scoops of rice were generous, and the macaroni salad was very good. We don't live close to Smyrna, so I'm concerned about visiting again with the limited sitting space available inside, especially since the weather isn't always conducive to sitting outside to eat a meal. That plus the overall higher prices do not provide any motivation for us to return.

This restaurant is really the best kept secret in Atlanta!…read more My family visited here this week for the first time since around 2014 and, despite our fears that it wouldn't live up to the great experience we had then, they EXCEEDED our expectations. We ordered so much and everything was delicious - nothing below an 8/10 in my opinion. We ordered the seafood spring rolls (8/10), crab benigets (8/10 with a special note of originality), and the shrimp appetizer (10/10). Spring rolls- very crispy and flaky, had the "sea floor" variety of seafood inside, flavorful 3 sauces to go with it Crab beignets- a slightly cheesy and airy beignet with a genius crab dip blend. The whole table was surprised on how good it was. Shrimp appetizer- the best "bang bang" shrimp I've had. Shrimps are very large and has a nice fruit salsa to go with. Everyone at the table loved their entrees but I can only truly speak for the ones I tried. Seafood Curry- I will NEVER eat curry anywhere else! I LOVEEEEE THIS CURRY! All the seafood is so fresh, the curry is so flavorful that I literally slurped the rest off my plate. There was also such a variety of veggies in there that were also very fresh and firm (not soggy). For the price especially, you get sooooo much and with such a thoughtful recipe. According to our waitress, it's the only recipe that hasn't changed since the restaurant opened in 2012! Fried chicken - I didn't try the chicken itself, but I did try the Mac and cheese and greens that came with it. Let me tell you, I am very picky about Mac and cheese and this rivals the best Mac and cheese I've had in Atlanta (toast on Lenox)! The greens were also fantastic and flavorful, but a little on the sweet side if that's what your preference is. For dessert, all 4 of us shared one slice of the suspension cake and couldn't even finish it! It was ginormous (literally the size of your head). I won't even go into details- just order it! The ambiance is so intimate and unique- not feeling like an "uptight" boujie restaurant, but curated and thoughtful. They have very nice seating outdoor that is enclosed as well as a beautiful bar area. Lastly, the service is fantastic. I genuinely can't recall my waitresses name, but they speak so highly of the head chef (Calvin) and most have worked there 8+ years, so it really feels like home. I write this review with hesitance because I want this place to remain a secret, but how could I not brag! Book the reservation!

They have so many different tiki cocktails that you can choose from. They are mostly made of rum, but they have a few other ones that are made with different alcohols.
