I love the combo of tuna and salmon, and I tend to go with their pre-selected options because the variety of toppings here is staggering, and a bit overwhelming! They genuinely have something for everyone - my mom went with a cooked teriyaki chicken bowl, and my dad got one with chicken and shrimp. So even if your family doesn't want raw fish, they'll be happy. The folks making the bowls are kind and helpful and polite, and it's basically similar to a Chipotle, where they build the bowl in front of you. You can see all the toppings and choose what you want, or go with a pre-selected bowl. I was craving Bowl Lab for lunch, so I decided to visit. When I walked in, I noticed they had added some new items to the menu. I was torn between ordering my usual Pokè Bowl and trying something new. The guy assisting me mentioned that the Galbi Bowl has been a crowd favorite, so I decided to go with his suggestion. The Galbi Bowl comes with a choice of rice or all greens, along with corn, kale, edamame, red onions, and carrots. They prepare the Galbi fresh, so it's a short wait. Once it was ready, I was given shoyu and yum yum sauce to accompany it. When I finally had the chance to eat my bowl, I was extremely satisfied. The flavors were bold and flavorful, and everything tasted fresh. It was so good that I told my husband about it, and he grabbed one for dinner. Confession time: I don't like poke bowls. If you're like me, the word 'poke' makes you think of raw fish, and perhaps the thought of raw fish evokes some queasy feelings. I get it; I'm right there with you. But I hope you won't let that keep you from trying Bowl Lab. Non-fish eaters will be happy to find out they've added gyudon beef, tofu, cooked shrimp, and chicken to the menu of protein offerings. Besides proteins, there's a lot of other customizations available, from the rice/salad base, to the mix-ins and sauces. My compunctions with my meals here have been few but notable. First, there seems to be a limit to the number of crunch toppings (e.g. onion crisps, fried garlic, rice puffs, furikake, etc.) that you can add atop your bowl. I'm a big fan of contrasting textures in my meal, so I've often wished I could add more than the maximum of two tiny spoonfuls. My other drawback is sheerly a me-opinion. There's plenty of sauces available, but I've yet to find one that hits just right for me. Some are muted, others are overpowering. My personal favorite is a spicy mayo, which most poke bowl joints seem to have, but Bowl Lab is surprisingly without. Since the sauce comprises such a significant part of the meal's resulting flavor, I've sometimes brought my own Sriracha mayo to the restaurant to ensure I'll have a happy meal. All that said, everything is always incredibly fresh. There's never any fishy smell - in the restaurant or in our bowl - and we often leave feeling satisfied with the serving size. Service here has always been quick, efficient, and polite. There's a limited number of tables and stool seating against the windows, but it's often pretty quiet in here and we've never struggled to find seats. read more

I appreciate that there is a free parking deck, as well as a few short term spots out front. The first time I went, I wasn't sure what to get, and the staff was really helpful to help me decide. I got the sunny salmon bowl, which is so tasty and definitely my favorite! I love the pineapple in that one, as well as the crab salad and shrimp that are added to it! Safety: They are following strict Covid protocol, which is comforting for a place where the food is already out & assembled in front of you. They have a protective glass, and a rope in front of that so nobody can even come close to the glass or touch it. Masks are also required (on both sides). Now the food. Yum! Their food tastes so fresh and they have so many ingredients and toppings to choose from. I always get the kimchi plum aioli sauce (which is similar to spicy Mayo) and the spicy garlic ponzu (which is a spicy soy sauce type). I like mixing them together and the combination is amazing. Just tried Bowl Lab for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Worked all day at Coffee Comma and got hungry after so walked next door. I recently got into Poke Bowls and theirs is excellent! You get a great portion even with the small serving size. I ordered the Hotlanta which is one of their best sellers (i substituted salmon for the regular tuna) and it was amazing! Unfortunately, each of our bowls were missing some toppings and it probably would have been better if the order was supervised in person. We came here on Saturday for a late lunch. We parked underneath in the parking garage and had no problem finding a spot, making the short walk to the restaurant. All of the spots right in front of the place were either full, or was 15 minute parking. This was right after the CDC announced vaccinated people do not need to wear masks inside, so they had indoor dining open and a few tables outside. You still had to wear your mask to come inside. They take it seriously here. We got in line and made our create-your-own orders. The prices are great and the only difference between the two sizes is an extra scoop of protein, which tare pretty generous. Otherwise, the bowl size is the same. They had so many choices, and everything was clean and sanitary. I love that crab salad was a topping, and not considered a protein like at some other places. There located in the Vinings Main Retail Centre on Vinings Slope, you can a few parking spots in the front of the store but tons in the garage for free. I viewed the menu online so I already knew what I was ordering prior to arriving. Upon entering we we're greeted by cheerful employees smiling. The space is very bright and clean with a minimalist look. I loved it!! All of the ingredients looked very fresh. I ordered the Sunny Salmon bowl. It included Salmon, Shrimp, Green and Red Onion, Pineapple, Masago, Edamame, Crab Salad, Pickled Ginger, Wasabi, Yuzu Ponzu, Japanese White Aioli and Coconut Flakes. It was a bowl of sunshine and each bite was delicious! The portion was perfect, beautiful presentation and fantastic price for lunch. Now I know why there was a line right before they opened and even longer one around noon. I would definitely recommend arriving when they open at 11am to avoid a long line. Bowl Lab is without doubt my favorite poke bowl location. In addition to poke bowls, Bowl lab also has Acai bowls and offer meat/tofu options as well for their bowls. You can either order a signature item or create your own bowl. I generally create my own bowl, and they allow you to pick 2, 3, or 4 protein with white rice, brown rice, spring mix, or even half and half. You get as many toppings as you want with some being an extra charge (like avocado), and unlike other locations, when you ask for extra scoops/portions of specific toppings, they happily give you more without an extra charge. My bowl is generally filled to the rim, and I have enough to eat twice out of it. To top things off, the fish quality is great and they have a huge selection of toppings. I am happy to see new concepts expand, so I was looking forward to my first visit to Bowl Lab. The food was refreshing - four stars - though the overall experience was mixed. The concept can improve with some tweaks. I got an Aloha Umami bowl, and was pleased that the ingredients were fresh and healthy. Is it poke like you get in Hawaii? Of course not. Were the ingredients a good mixture of textures and fresh ingredients? Yes, except the extra large heaping of pickled ginger. I got a large, which comes with three scoops. The Aloha Umami comes with tuna and albacore. It is not entirely clear from the menu, however, large bowls mean you get to pick the third scoop of protein. I chose the salmon. Of the three, the albacore was my favorite because it was seasoned best. The salmon and tuna were minimally seasoned, if at all. The service was two stars. First, the guy waiting on me mumbled when I ordered a large bowl, and after asking him to repeat a couple times, I finally figured out he was asking me what protein I wanted. I repeated that I wanted the Aloha Umami and he seemed annoyed then finally clarified that I get a third choice of protein with a large. I hope they are clearer to other first-timers. One of the people in my group had a scoop of fish missing from her bowl. When she asked the staff if she could get the scoop added, they looked at her like she was trying to cheat or something. She had to repeat herself several times to get a resolution. People make mistakes, but it was awkward when they could have offered a quick apology and fix. With more customer friendly staff the place could earn four stars. With a little more balance in the flavors - more seasoning, less pickled ginger - they might even get to five stars. read more

Recently visited Bowl Lab with a couple coworkers for lunch one day. I've been before and never left unsatisfied. Located in a nook next to QT, it doesn't look like much and front parking is limited, but Bowl Lab is one of the better poke options. The food is always fresh. Service is always quick. Overall, it's a great poke experience. Plus it comes at a decent price! With these spots, it's easy for them to nickel and dime customers but I never feel that way at Bowl Lab. Plus if you're new to poke, the servers are super helpful and nice and willing to answer any and all questions even during the busy lunch rush. FYI it's a small place so not a ton of seating but we were able to accommodate 6 of us and talk and eat our bowls before heading back to work.
