Hands down the best bowling shop I've ever been to. Jeff, I think, is the owner or manager? I forgot to ask him name but that's the name on my caller ID when he called me to tell me my ball was in. Almost every other pro shop I've been to has been full of people who didn't seem like they wanted to be there, or just straight up unfriendly and aloof. Jeff and his staff the complete opposite. They seem to LOVE what they do, and I am all for it. I ordered my ball Friday afternoon, and Jeff called me 5 minutes before noon the next day to tell me my ball was already in. The shop was BUSY on Saturday too, but he got my ball drilled and fitted relatively quickly considering how busy they were. Everyone in the shop was very helpful and knowledgeable. As a new bowler, I couldn't have asked for a better experience than the one I had at Bowler's Depot. Jeff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. He took the time to learn my PAP as a two-handed bowler and made the entire process of selecting the right equipment feel easy and stress-free. I bought a 3-ball roller bag and the Storm Phaze Ai the week it was released. Fun fact: I was the first person to buy the Phaze Ai from Jeff's shop, and when I picked it up, there were already 8 more orders waiting! The layout we chose (5 x 4 x 3 1/2) has made it an incredible benchmark ball for transition, and it's quickly become a staple in my arsenal. What surprised me even more was how much I've grown to love the Storm Ion Max, which I picked up a couple of weeks later along with the 900 Global Onyx Black spare ball. Jeff didn't pressure me to buy more gear--in fact, he advised I learn to shoot spares with the Phaze Ai before investing in a dedicated spare ball. (I didn't listen, but I have zero regrets!) On a whim we took a chance and stopped by Lake Forest Lanes to see if The Bowler's Depot was open. My son is a 16 year old beginner but has gone bowling with friends a lot this summer. I recently picked up a ball from another pro shop in the Southern California area, only to have nothing but issues with the fitment of my ball and after numerous revisits to that store, they were never able to fully resolve my issue. Back in the 90s I was a 200 average bowler. Fast forward to today, I haven't touched my balls for years (insert joke here). I started watching the PBA on YouTube and on FOX and the bug bit me to restart my love of bowling. I went to Forest Lanes to try out my old gear and quickly discovered it was - old. My thumb hated me after one frame. As fate would have it, the pro shop - Bowlers Depot- was right behind my lane. I made a beeline and explained to the guy (sorry forget his name) what happened. He knew right away the ball was from the 90s and it was a spare ball - not a strike ball. He offered to widen the thumb hole and see if it worked. He did that for free which was beyond nice. I tried it out and did a shot-put half way down the alley. I said that's it I'm getting a new ball. The guy was soooo great. He asked some questions and found the perfect ball for me. They have a lot of selection there so there's something for every type of bowler. He took multiple measurements and didn't rush me. He made sure it was perfect. A few minutes later it was ready and it felt like a dream throwing it. He even came over to my alley to give pointers on which arrow I should be aiming. Again - super nice and beyond what I expected. I had him then plug one of my old balls and re drill it so I have a good spare ball. Can't wait to pick it up. Maybe time to get another ball while I'm there for other lane conditions. Hmmm... When I completed my first league back in 2006, I ended with a 160 average. Since then I have gotten several tips from Quin that has improved my overall game and for the last 8 years I have been bowling a scratch league with my highest posted average of 215. Jeff helped me out after a bad experience elsewhere. I'm a beginner learning how to hook. He offered to watch me bowl and gave me a lot of advice. After talking he recommended the Brunswick Method Solid. I was a 115 average bowler ( my average has plummeted since trying to learn to hook) but am rapidly improving. The ball he gave me is a pin action monster and my friends even joke and call my roll the Brett Special with the 7 pin flying last minute and taking down pins for a delayed strike! In less than a month I've already bowled my first game over 200 and am bowling 40 pins better more consistently.
