I watched one particular waitress who spent more time drinking her own coffee and eating food on the clock than serving her patrons. I'm very surprised to see this place have much business in all honesty. The bar area was not clean, dishes sat for more than 30 minutes after the patron left and after watching the waitress who ate go right back to her patrons without washing her hands, I won't be caught dead here again. She complained about having to sit on the front side of the bar when a coworker mentioned it was against health code to eat in back of the bar. She also mentioned how she doesn't like when she has to sit and eat because her customer will see. Yes, ma'am, if you work a double then you have a break to eat and should change your shirt if you don't like people starting at you while you're being paid. Against my better judgement, I decided to give this place a try. I rarely eat out for breakfast, but I was tired of eating the same thing every day. So I tried this place out. The name should be changed to "The Bowels Cafe". As 1/4 of the way into my meal, my gut was telling me this food was no good. The food tasted very bland, the veggies in the omlette weren't seasoned or sweated. Cheese was on top of the omlette, not inside. Bacon was the only saving grace. Even though there was a hair fried into one of the pieces. They need to designate one person to bartending, the servers jumping in to make their own drinks is too much. In the sense of I saw several people waiting at their tables with nothing, looking around for someone to come take their order. I was one of these people, sitting at the bar, waiting, waiting, waiting. The gal at the bar, who I'm assuming was supposed to be taking bar orders and small tables next to the bar. Was running around like a chicken with its head off. Stopped in to say, ok give me your order. I wasn't quite ready, but she was "rushed" so I spat out omlette and a Mimosa, to keep it simple. 5 mins later, I get the mimosas I ordered. While I watched the staff over pour on bloody Mary's. Definitely won't be going back to this place. The server who was tasked with taking my order, kept calling me baby, sweety, honey. Look, she's not my grandma, mother, or significant other. Don't refer to people as such. Honestly the owners need to so some recon with some people the staff doesn't recognize. Over-pouring, bland food, bad service, no organization. Seated with my wife, my two year old daughter, and my quiet newborn. My daughter was so excited for some pancakes but after 10 minutes we had only been provided with water - including a covered cup of water for my daughter with no straw. After another 10 minutes we still hadn't been attended to - the tables around us were being served - so we had to leave. Didn't even get a chance to order beverages, let alone food. My daughter was in tears. All this at 6p in the evening - the restaurant wasn't nearly filled. read more

The service was good, but the food was bland. Skip the Bowles Sandwich, Hamburger, Pork Schnitzel, and the Reuben sandwich. All needed seasoning. The clam chowder tasted like it was straight out of a can. I'm not sure what to suggest to eat, only what to skip. read more

Super disappointed after my visit on Sunday. Our waitress was very overwhelmed with our four person table. She dropped my friends chorizo burrito and gave him my sausage burrito instead.. she was unsure what beers were available so one person was unable to get a beer they had available and she gave another person at our table the wrong beer. When it came time to pay our checks she snapped at me when asking what I ordered, she than began complaining that management expects her to be a "super server" my friends went to pay their checks and she then snapped at her co workers right in front of them when they informed her she had another table sat. Even after all the confirmation she still split our checks wrong as well. I definitely understand new staff will be slower but it seems like she was thrown out with little training and took it out on the customers. I use to love coming here but after this experience I doubt I will be back. Some of the staff is really wonderful but it's really not worth it if that's how they allow service to treat their tables. read more

This USED to be a great place to eat, but in the past 6- 9 months, the place has gone south! Yesterday, Saturday the 4th, my wife and I stopped in for lunch. We ordered the protein plates. While waiting, we observed the bus person cleaning tables, wiping tables and sweeping food onto the floor as well as the booth seats!! Another girl sweot up a few of the food crumbs but did a very incomplete job. My siverware was dirty, asked for clean utensils. Ashed for water, had to ask twice. Had to ask e 3 times for coffee refills!! When food came, it was way over cooked even though we asked for medium cooked items. My wife then ordered a cinnamon roll and it was not thoroughly baked. The place is a joke, will never solicit this place again!! read more

Great spot for a Littleton breakfast, and they're also open for lunch and dinner. I like that their menu is constantly changing with weekly specials, additions like skillets and some great green chili. Its a perfect spot for a weekend brunch, though it can get busy so consider it for a nice weekday breakfast. Also - their $5 hamburger special M-W is pretty money. read more

I have not eaten here for anything other than breakfast but the breakfast is awesome! I am from MN so moving to CO 4 years ago, green chili was very new to me, but after trying it at the Bowles Cafe, I have a hard time not getting it now. I Love trying green chili when I can, but this place has, by far, the best green chili I have had! That being said,I have not had Santiago's which I hear is the best. If you do make it here, try the burrito or the skillet....they are my favorite! I also love, love, love their banana pancakes! read more

I would love to give this place 5 stars but only one thing stood in the way, the server. Normally I'd deduct more if I get bad service because everyone knows that it can ruin the whole meal. However, the place is way beyond my expectations and it outweighed the server. Also, there aren't enough diners like these and I avoid Ihop as much as possible. Anyhow, we came in for Sunday brunch and beware, it is very busy. The place is not very big and the wait was 25 min for 3 of us. They do have a full bar which is nice if you're looking for a Bloody Mary. I didn't however have one so I'm not sure if they're any good. The food is definitely on point. The green chile is exactly how I like it with a punch! The prices were moderate and I felt a little overcharged for egg whites. They also have a small area for outdoor seating! Now the bad part, our server was short with us and hardly checked on our table. I didn't have silverware for awhile after my meal came out. She seemed annoyed the entire time. I live right own the street and didn't feel like driving all the way to toast for breakfast...big mistake. I will say that the outdoor seating is really nice, and I enjoyed the water feature. I had a simple ham and cheese omelet with the green chili on top. Green chili was actually a faint red color and tastes like water with.....well it tasted like warm water. Omelet and potatoes had absolutely no flavor at all, I felt like I was eating prop food. The only thing I enjoyed was the rye toast. Waitress was very nice and the price wasn't bad, but the food was just so bland it made me so upset...how can you possibly screw up a omelet and potatoes. Save your money and get some powdered eggs, you'll thank me in the end. read more

sat down to a table that was semi dirty and wobbly. on the table are creamer and a napkin holder with specials. dirty. all dirty residue of food and other drinks. menus are dirty. we really should have left my bf got coffee he said there were dark spots on the mug but thought at the time it might have been grounds. now he thinks otherwise. i am pretty sure i had a bug in my food. found it when i had eaten about 3/4 of it. everything needed salt, and i dont salt anything... sorry about the poor pic, it was hard to get a good one. never, ever never again read more

By far the worst breakfast ever. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and English muffin. The eggs were horrible cooked like an omelet the hash browns were a mushy mess and undercooked the bacon not crispy. I hated it even the english muffin was gross. My server never came back and asked how is it? I guess when you already know the answer what is the point. So they don't care. I won't ever eat here again. read more

This review only relates to their breakfast. When this place first opened we used to go there for breakfast on the weekends and their would be 2 tables of people in there. It seemed to go that way for a while and something changed....the food got awesome and now there is often a line out the door. For good reason. They have been added new items to the menu, more burritos, more "smothered" options. But really this is the place that turned me into a "breakfast burrito guy". I won't be happy if a place doesn't have a breakfast burrito, and if it's not covered in green chili I may just walk out. The Burrito and Green Chili here are top notch and I suggest you try it. read more

On a recommendation from friends we tried this place out for breakfast for a change of pace. The GF had the sausage breakfast burrito and thought it was just OK. We both have had much better green chile. I had the standard scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. A better bacon would be nice. The waitstaff was wonderful and on top of their game. I had some errands to run and thought bacon would be nice with some over easy eggs. Well HELLS BELLS LORETTA! I pulled in right across from the bank and took a peek at the menu and much to my surprise I could get over easy eggs with a rellano (sp)..yummo...oh..and a side of bacon. I ran to the bank and by the time I got back, my mouth full of deliciousness was good to go. I drove all the way home and ate some of the perfectly cooked crispy bacon. However the real treat was when I opened my box of food I found a huge helping of potatoes. ..oh my! Came here to pick up some breakfast for my sister's family one morning after reading the reviews: food was decent but needs some work and also the service is a bit off. Biscuits appear to be cut from a flat of cooked dough, gravy was sausage flavoured but pretty uninspired, the pancakes were fantastic. Bacon was exemplary. They asked me if I wanted a cup of Joe while I waited, I said "why not." I had sipped half a cup of mediocre decaf before my food was ready and found that I was charged $3 for the courtesy. All in all I won't avoid the place, but not in a giant hurry to return either. read more

Not bad, not amazing. Atmosphere: 2, service: 3.5, food: 3.5, menu: 4. The menu is pretty diverse and offers a wide range of options. However, if you are gluten free and/or vegan, I think you will be pretty hard pressed to find a breakfast option that fits within your dietary confines. If you have no dietary restrictions, the options are abundant. I got the Denver omelette and it was good. Not amazing, but good. Smallest drumstick I've ever had, thought it was a chicken wing. Lunch service terrible. Bowles Cafe is truly a winner! Their food has always been awesome. I love their spicy Bloody Mary! My daughter will devour their pork schnitzel, she too has an issue with the potato salad. If you like dill (I do) the salad is yummy! They have delicious and home made pies. These are truly a favorite. Even if you don't normally get pie - try some here. The serving is big enough for two. The service is fast and the crew is always cleaning. I enjoy the truly relaxed feel. It's the kind of feeling you want when you go out....happy, carefree and full! The food was good. Both my GF and I had the chicken fried steak and it came with a salad or soup, vegetables and mashed potatoes. Since it's a Czech restaurant, it was one of the few places I could get a Becherovka and tonic. Yummy. The only downside was that we both brought in coupons for $5 chicken fried steaks clipped from our local paper. A great deal, yes? Well no. When we went to check out, the waitress informed us that the coupon was only for steak itself. The salad that normally comes with the steak was an additional $3.50. So the $5 chicken fried steak was actually $8.50, which is only $1 off of the normal price. I guess that's still a good value, but it strikes me as being a bit misleading and left us with a bad taste in our mouths following what was a very good taste in our mouths. I have a feeling this happens a lot as the waitress went out of her way to explain why the meal wasn't $5, but rather $8.50. So come hungry, but also remember to come with your attorney (grin) or at least an understanding of the coupon. read more

My favorite part about Bowles Cafe is their patio. Adorned with a myriad of flours and nestled against a very large water feature, it is one of SW Denver's best patios. Their food is just slightly better than average; however, always consistent. The worst part about Bowles Cafe is sitting on the patio witnessing the wait staff sprint out the front door with cigarette in mouth and lighter in hand. The restaurant is a non-smoking establishment, yet they don't seem to care about which way the wind blows while they're smoking. read more

I sat at the bar for breakfast. My waitress served my food, my drinks; but never checked in once with me; I felt like I was at McDonalds. During my breakfast I got the pleasure of watching two young girls that were actual employees eat their breakfast too, while all the waitresses were running frantically around assisting the customers.
