Bowles Cafe is about the basics. That's not a bad thing. It's not trendy. It doesn't have brightly colored juice drinks made from weird ingredients. You get potatoes with your breakfast, not organic greens. There's a bar, if you're so inclined. The lunch menu does the classics well: burgers, club sandwiches, soups. What you also don't get is the high prices found at breakfast/lunch places popular with the in crowd. That's also a good thing along with the veteran wait staff that knows what it's doing. Other reviews suggest some inconsistency. That may be the case, but all my experiences have been good. read more

Great place for a Sunday brunch - you might get the church crowd flowing in, so keep that in mind. We both had the huevos rancheros, awesome. Eggs were well cooked and the green chili was delicious. The real winner was the hash browns. I have never had them prepared that way. They were boiled, peeled, and sliced into little chips (for lack of a better term). I had their breakfast burrito. The service? The waitress seemed impatient and not happy to be there. The burrito was okay. The green chile in which it was smothered is average green chile at best. As I understand it, Bowles Cafe is known for its biscuits and gravy, but since I don't eat biscuits and gravy, I cannot tell you how they are. The prices, average. The ambiance is also average. I would say that Bowles Cafe is an average place to get a breakfast. Not horrible, not super great. If you're looking to just get yourself a breakfast and you're not too picky, Bowles Cafe will probably work for you. read more

The eggs were four dollars. They were overcooked. I ordered them extra soft. The pancakes were dry. Tasted like they came from a mix. Not a great look for a breakfast place. The service wasn't great. Had to wait for a table because they had incomplete parties sat. The waitress did not notice the eggs were cooked. Put them in front of me. Did not ask how they were. Left trash sitting on the table empty creamers, the little wrapper for the silverware there's trash underneath the table. The ambience is a café but dirty. Would not recommend. Been there three times in the last five years. All the experiences have been about the same. read more

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but this experience pushed me to say something. This place sits somewhere between IHOP and Denny's in terms of quality--except without the coupons to justify it. I only go here occasionally because a friend who lives nearby finds it convenient. On my most recent visit, I brought in my own coffee with maybe two sips left. Their coffee, in my opinion, is overpriced and not very good--definitely not worth $4. I kept the cup off to the side near the condiments so it wasn't visible or disruptive. A few minutes later, the waitress--who seemed like she was just following orders--told me that outside drinks weren't allowed. I explained there were only a couple sips left and that I wasn't actively drinking it, but shortly after, she returned and said the manager wouldn't take our order unless I removed the cup. When I asked to speak to the manager, she was already nearby and quickly stepped in. Her approach felt confrontational, and she gave me an ultimatum: either get rid of the cup or leave. The interaction lacked any sense of flexibility or customer service. It felt like an unnecessary escalation over something trivial. I understand policies exist, but the way they're enforced matters. A little discretion or courtesy would have gone a long way. Beyond that, the overall cleanliness of the place has been a consistent concern over the past few years I've been going. It has never appeared thoroughly cleaned, which doesn't inspire confidence in the kitchen. This is a biased review based on my personal experience--but it's an honest one. read more

The breakfast is good However, the service is slow and terrible. Out server was either on the phone or smoking in their car the whole time we were there. No, they weren't on a break cause we could see the car as it was parked front and center taking up all the prime parking spots. This place is not the best, service is not great, and the coffee was served to us already cold... the food was bland. Today my husband came in with 2 of our small children and he got up from the table to take our 4 year old to the restroom and while he was in there with our toddlers, they took all of the food away and wiped the table down.... he came out to nothing left, and there would have been a reasonable amount of food left we could have boxed to take home. Bowles Cafe is your typical diner/breakfast spot. I got the Bowles Breakfast which came loaded w/ 2 eggs, hashbrowns, your choice of protein & your choice of pancakes, French toast or biscuits & gravy. I have never tried biscuits & gravy but coming here I decided to try it & OMG it is my new favorite. They do have a bar so if you want some mimosas or really anything the bar seems to always be open. May be wrong but a friend & I went on a Sunday morning at around 7 or 8am & we were both able to get a drink (: Staff was friendly & the food was ready pretty quickly. We were looking to discovery a different breakfast place so I searched Yelp for "Breakfast near me". Bowles Cafe came up and we headed over to the restaurant. I'm glad I didn't look at the reviews or I might have missed this gem. Bowles Cafe isn't looking to be different like First Watch or Toast. It's more of a restaurant like Littleton Cafe, except Bowles Café stays open longer so you can enjoy lunch without rushing. Bowles Café reminds me of the Greek diners we used to frequent back in Illinois. The menus are simple, good food and large portions. They let you season your food so you don't have to worry about it being too salty, peppery or spicy. (If you want spicy, they have some Mexican dishes.) The hash browns aren't shredded, but rather chopped which we liked. We also like that they provided a pot of coffee for the table so we didn't have to flag a server down to get more. We'd like to go back sometime soon and try something from their lunch menu. read more

I saw the Yelp reviews and didn't expect much. But a friend really wanted to meet here and swore the French toast was amazing. He was not wrong. Get the French toast. If you, like I, virtually never order French toast, don't let that stop you. Just get it. It has a crunchy exterior, battered with cornflakes, I think, and it appears to be ever so gently bruléed with cinnamon and brown sugar. I also ordered poached eggs to see how they did with that, and the eggs were done perfectly. Huzzah! A dining companion got a tasty veggie skillet that came with a side of green chili. I am not from Colorado and know nothing about green chili, but I thought this stuff was delicious. I didn't personally taste the bacon, but it was a generous portion of thick slices. Apparently good enough that our friend brought home the leftovers. Service was friendly and attentive with fast coffee refills. Plenty of parking, and the space is a bright open room with a mix of booths and tables. Very accessible. Worth going back the next time we're in town. Going on my list of best Denver area breakfast options, for sure. read more

However, it took a long time for our food to arrive. Our dishes were tasty, and servings ample. The menu overall was pretty standard breakfast nothing special, with no healthy options. Didn't know this place existed and I wish I knew about it sooner. Had breakfast with my kiddo ordered the hue is rancheros and house skilllet. Both were excellent. The food was fresh and came out quickly and piping hot. Huge portions and great value. Our waitress was awesome. The only way I can describe this place is- an updated Le peep with Mexican options (smothered burritos green chili etc). Breakfast for two plus tip and drinks was well under 40. read more

Service was good, as was the breakfast. My complaint is that I was double charged, the pre-tip amount $49.84 and then also for the amount including a $10 tip. I don't notice until several days later when reviewing my debit card transactions. I called and was asked to come to the restaurant with copies of my receipt and bank statement showing the charges. I gave them both to the manager of the day along with my contact info. who said she would let their bookkeeping person know. I never heard anything back from the restaurant, but fortunately my bank gave me a credit when I disputed the extra charge. A word to the wise... always keep your receipts and check your transaction history often. read more

Bowles Cafe is easy to get to from 470. It's just pass Walmart if you're coming from Denver. It was busy when we dropped by but surprisingly the wait was only 15 minutes. There's not much breakfast place within the vicinity of Bowles Cafe. I tried their Sausage Skillet. It's basically sausages, green bell pepper, onions and potatoes. Smothered with Country Gravy instead of Green Chile. Topped with my choice of two over easy eggs. In theory you can't mess this one up. I cook at home. A lot. I was imagining what I would be making if I was cooking this since the ingredients are pretty much inviting. I was expecting a burst of greens from the green bell pepper and yellows from the eggs etc. boy was I disappointed. Lack of color, flavor and the amount of individual ingredients! About four tiny pieces of green bell pepper? The ratio of sausage to potatoes was overwhelmingly leaning on the potatoes side. Listen, if the potatoes were seasoned well or browned on top I'd devour it! Boiled potatoes that's bland and mixed in with a few pieces of sausage wont do it! Season your dishes and make it look like it's worth paying for. Oh yeah, why the obvious imbalance or lack of the main ingredients? At $9+ I think the paying public deserves more sausage and green bell pepper. I'm a bit annoyed because if you decide to open a business pls make it worth both our time! Yours and mine! This place has some really great staff. Fast, on top of it and professional. The food? Meh! In case you're wondering, company's breakfast was lackluster as well . In every sense like mine. read more

Hard no! I wish there was another breakfast spot in town outside this and the kitchen at my house. It was so bad (we got a to go order on a road trip), that we had to throw it all out. The breakfast burrito was just not edible at all and to wait 30 min for it, was just a really poor experience. Seems like the regulars are keeping this business open, which, kudos to them. read more

We've been going to Bowles Cafe for years, I guess you might say we are "regulars", at least 1-2 times a week. The food is very good, green chili is the best. After Breakfast King closed, I think one of the cooks is now at Bowles Cafe - "Toro Pot" is on the menu. My wife's usual is the Crispy Rellenos Breakfast. The service is great, get our food in a timely manner even when the place is full, sometimes there is a line to get a table but it moves pretty quickly. It's not a fancy place, but when you get good food and service, who cares. If you want a great breakfast - go to Bowles Cafe read more
