The google link form the new business even still goes to his old business website at the time of this review. When he came over he seemed nice enough. I got a wind mitigation. He arrived on time and seemed thorough. I paid and he emailed me the report. My issue is that his wind mitigation turns out to be practically worthless. My roof was brand new when I got the inspection and if you read it, it has a place for the permit number, which he did, however I did not know some insurance companies actually want a copy of the permit attached. They say it's because they want to see a passed final inspection. I ordered a replacement wind mitigation, and the new guy was nice enough to look for the permit before starting. It gets worse. Turns out Volusia County deletes permits after five years. My roof is from 2017, so no permit. When Jim's was done the permit would have been available, but he didn't take the time to pull it, and now it's gone. For the next 15 years or so I will only get partial credits. My new guy says it's standard when you get the permit number, since you're there anyway, to get a copy of it. He says they do it all the time. I've checked with another inspector and he said the same thing. I've even seen advertisements where they say the permit is always included in the report. Won't be using Jim any more.

HOME BUYERS BEWARE. I purchased my first home this past November and used this company as my…read moreinspector. HomeTech Home Inspections told me in no uncertain terms that I am connected to city sewer. One month into owning my home, I find out I actually have a septic tank and that there is physically and literally NO possible way I could be connected to city sewer. How did I find out? The septic tank was completely full and the drain field failing. I have paid almost $1000 in repairs at this point, and need to pay an additional $8000 to get the drain field repaired. How could they get something so wrong? Great question. Turns out, the sellers home listing is enough for HomeTech Home Inspections to validate that you have city sewer. That is the method they used to tell me that I am connected to city sewer. That's right. I hired a company to validate the things the seller told me about the condition of the home, and they used the seller's word to validate it. Super cool. In the face of $9000 in repairs, I sought a refund from Home Tech Home inspections. Of the $1400 I paid HomeTech Home Inspections during my home buying process, they offered me only a $200 refund. Greg, the owner of HomeTech, told me that I should have known I had a specific tank going into buying the house. Thanks Greg! I agree! That's why I hired a home inspector. A lot of good that did me. To get something so fundamental wrong when your whole business is to tell people about their houses is crazy. I'm interested to see what else is going to come up while living here. Many people failed me in this experience but this one really just stands out.

My inspection was a a couple years ago, back in 2017. This was for what wound up being my first…read morehome, so there were a lot of questions I didn't know to ask. Watt seemed to answer those questions thoroughly! Fast forward to 2020, my roof was leaking, which stunk. When I called a roofer out to look he stated that there was extensive water damage throughout the entire roof and provided me with images. After Watt's inspection, where he stated anyplace he could see potential water damage was exclusively on the edges of the roof, Watt informed me that I should have 6 years before that becomes a problem. I relayed this to the roofer who said "Sounds like you got the wool pulled over your eyes on this one." Had Watt either done a more thorough inspection or told me the full extent of the damage, I would not have bought the house. I would NOT recommend the use of this company for your inspection.
