This once was a great restaurant for food,drinks and light entertainment but not now ,with the new ownership and horrible chef The waiting staff is pleasant enough but a little rough along the edges. The French onion soup and the mussels appetizers were tasteless compounded with the fact they arrived a bit cold Basically the menu and food selection have reach the same level as a " Berger king " establishment .. And the burgers are much better at Berger King and so are the FF . Stay away from the fried fish sandwich ; it's extremely salty. The wedge salads was forgettable and so was the very watery French onion soups . It was like tossing a c note out of your moving car;when you pay good money for crappy food !!!! It was our first time here. We started with the mussels. They were just ok. I wouldn't recommend them. Sauce was bland. I would have preferred a red sauce to dip the garlic bread into. My cocktail was fantastic!! It was a raspberry cosmo and had plenty of liquor in it. We had the Caesar salad and it came with white anchovies, my favorite. My husband thought it was warm. I had the black and blue burger. Loved it. Husband had the hot roast beef sandwich. He enjoyed it. Not a fan of the atmosphere there. Ok for casual dinning. We would definitely go back. Seeking consistency? Decent food and good service? After half a dozen trips to this tavern I can say that they are able to deliver all of these. I've chosen this adorable bar for the warm ambiance, great bartenders, and attentive service. I've gone early and gone late and they can handle it. Early (6-7 pm) is nice and comfortable, cozy bar area and tons of attention. Bartenders are fun and chatty and can fill you in on the local news if you want. Or banter about just about anything. As the crowd filters in, which it will, especially weekends -- the place gets busy but you will not suffer. But the chatty bar guys are now working hard so say goodbye. Fun spot and a diverse, interesting crowd. Fun stop for a casual night out. Lots of locals and a great place for a sandwich, cocktail and if you're up for some entertainment, the piano gets going later. read more

Had a fantastic dinner here the other night . From the the hostess onwards everything was done perfectly. We were a party of 4 about 20 mins ahead of our reservation and were seated within minutes of our arrival . Our waitress couldn't have been more friendly or patient with us as we pondered the menu. The appetizers arrived and a particular shout out to the eggplant and whipped ricotta dishes. We all ordered the special ... NY Sirloin which was excellent . I came here for dinner and since it was a really nice day we ate outside. Love the atmosphere! They provide popcorn to munch on while you wait for your meal. They filled my Stella to the brim. The Mac and Cheese was very good but very heavy on the garlic. If you're a garlic fan you'll love it! I did not enjoy the fried calamari, unfortunately. It was coated in cornmeal and wasn't coated thoroughly. It was also a bit bland. My turkey sandwich with bacon and cranberry mayo was great though! And the homemade potato salad was on the money. Had dinner tonight at Bowman's Tavern for a special occasion! We had made a reservation earlier in the day, and when we noticed we would be arriving a bit late, the receptionist was very nice about it and continued to hold our table for us. It's a pretty neat little place- very elegant, with a beautiful piano in one corner near the bar area (with stools all around it!). Unfortunately there was no one playing while we were there, so I hope we get a chance soon to head over there when there are more festivities! The place has a rustic feel, with wooden flower pots at each table, and gorgeous wooden tables with matching chairs. There are also plenty of booths, and the back wall is one long booth bench which would be great for a large group! We all got a drink, two of us getting the Dark and Stormy, which is a ginger beer with rum (we all agreed that while yummy, tasted oddly familiar to a cherry coke). I ordered the Strawberry Basil Margarita, which was lots of strawberry, with a slightly charred basil leaf laying on top of the drink. The basil leaf was oddly placed. I think if we had known that the drinks would have been pretty average, we wouldn't have bothered (priced on the higher side, around $8 for a little drink).All three of us got sandwiches- I ordered the BLT, which was delicious, but a bit hard to eat because of the size of the bacon pieces. Another ordered the Black and Blue Burger, which got great remarks, and another ordered the Turkey Burger, which also got 5 stars! I subbed out the potato salad for fries, and I think that was the best choice I made all night- I would take a BATH in that potato salad. (But then i'd have to take another regular bath so why waste it). Our waitress was very polite and attentive, and our water glasses were always full. A bread bowl with packaged butter was on the table upon arrival, and when we asked for lemon for the water they brought us a whole plate (and I'm a lemon fanatic so I was very happy about this). The only weird thing was the Valet parking. I can understand why there would be complimentary valet when it's really busy, but we were there around 6 p.m. on Friday, and there was plenty of room in the parking lot. It was a bit uncomfortable since the walk to the car was nothing to complain about. Could have done without that. read more

We forget about this local gem but it is one of our favorites. We generally go on Saturday or Sunday afternoons after a drive through the area. It's close to New Hope but out of the mayhem of the quaint town. There is a small outside dining area for nice days, a side bar and then a larger bar in the main dining room. The chef takes standard fare and kicks it up a few notches. Our favorite appetizers were the braised short ribs and the Marsala mushrooms. On this visit I went for the BLT and I will say it is one of the best I've had. The pork belly bacon was smokey with fresh ripe tomatoes. I opted for toasted rye and it was thick and crispy without being to hard as rye toast can be. I also opted for the onion rings as I'm an onion ring freak - crispy coating and sweet onions...perfection. They were very busy in the bar - the barkeep was hustling but happy and attentive. We definitely recommend Bowman's Tavern and will be back for sure. read more

Had lunch here last Saturday with my husband and son (who lives in NYC and is very spoiled by NY food). This was our 4th time here and our sons 2nd. Once again service was top notch and the restaurant was spotless! Our food came our in a very timely matter and was spot on for flavor, freshness and temperature. We shared apps. Of fried oysters and calamari which were both delicious (see pics). My husband and I had the cod sandwich (huge piece of very fresh cod deep fried very light tempura and served with very fresh lettuce, tomato and thin sliced red onion) with fresh homemade tartare sauce and potato salad or French fries or coleslaw. My potato salad was great! My son had a bacon cheese burger that he said was perfectly cooked and delicious! We will be back and highly recommend it! read more

We have eaten at Bowmans 5-6 times. Last night I had a piece of a broken plate in my salad which I found when I bit it. I was lucky not to get hurt. Bowman's credited the salad and gave us a free drink. It felt like they didn't really care though. I thought they should have at least credited our entire meal. I posted a picture here. read more

Monday night's with Andy Prescott are the reason I love Bowman's so much. Always fun, he's an amazing piano player, I don't care what the food tastes like, he makes it all worth it! Stop in on a Monday night to sing along. The restaurant itself and the menu were recently re-vamped and I enjoy the updates all around. The cuisine is simple American but they have a nice food selection and a two full bars. My favorite is the turkey burger. Turkey burgers can be so dry sometimes and the chipotle mayo they use always makes theirs great and never dry. The wine list isn't amazing, but again, the full bar makes up for that, so I would always tell people to stop in to Bowman's for some piano and a good meal. read more

I have visited this place 3 Friday's in a row due to lent. I have had Amanda as a sever twice and she's awesome, remembering I do like the cornmeal fried Virginia oysters btw they are GREAT. Surprisingly, staggeringly delicious We happened upon Bowman's by chance - heading north along the Delaware it was lunch time and from the road it looked like a more or less standard bar/pub/restaurant. But it turned out to be spectacular. The smoked trout salad, whipped ricotta, and mushroom tart were all in the 'best we've ever had' category. The trout salad was a delightful blend of textures and flavors - the trout, kale, fennel, and Marcona almonds all working together nicely - and the salad was lightly, perfectly dressed. Similarly, the ricotta was a wonderful balance of cream, salt, sweet, and spice (in the not hot sense). And though the mushrooms were chopped too finely for my taste, my wife pronounced her tart as the best she had ever had - she has a thing for 'Hen of the Woods' mushrooms. Moving down a step were the wedge salad and fish & chips - both were merely very, very good. Our complaints were that the 'homemade' blue cheese dressing needed a more pungent blue and the fried fish needed a more flavorful fish - but both were prepared perfectly. Drawing up the rear were the buffalo wings - which were merely good. Nothing wrong in any way...just nothing particularly right. In retrospect we should have gone with the 'dry rub' preparation even if it was billed as 'less spicy'. All in all the overall impression was of a fine dining chef forced by circumstance into offering pub fare. If you choose to eat here (and you should eat here) order the most interesting things on the menu that suit your appetite that evening - you will not be disappointed. read more

Went here for brunch during a weekend visit. They advertised live music which was indeed true - a piano player accompanies your meal. Nice, quiet relaxed setting - very popular on the weekend with families. Food is reasonably priced and was pretty good although we didn't find anything overly outstanding. Service was good, though she was very busy. Overall, a nice setting for brunch. Nothing really stood out, hence the 3 star rating but it's a perfectly acceptable place for some food. Came here for a lunch to start our day New Hope. It a place that seemed to have a lot of regulars and I can see why. The service is good and the food is predictably good. Nothing crazy or fancy but good comfort food and pleasant nice service. We ordered the fish tacos and pickled seasoned vegetables as apps. Everyone got burgers. The tacos were huge. Definitely to be shared or as a main dish. The fish is perfectly fried. They toasted the tortilla and the garnish was a good balance to the fish. The picked seasoned vegetables were good as well. A beautiful setting for a cozy meal, on a crisp fall night. Couldn't ask for much more! My sister and I joined our parent's for a relaxing dinner to celebrate their anniversary. We all had a great experience - the food, drinks, ambiance, and live music were all great. I ordered a cup of their French Onion Soup, which was rich, dark, and delicious. The broth packed a ton of flavor and the broiled cheese on top was crisp around the edges while remaining gooey in the center. For my entree, I ordered one of the specials - a pan roasted Cobia with kohlrabi puree, black barley, and kale. The fish itself was well-cooked, but I was put off by the thick skin on top. It didn't detract from my experience, but I would have preferred either no skin or for the skin to be even crispier. The accompaniments (puree, barley, and kale) were all really well executed and played nicely to the fish. Somehow, I was tempted by the dessert menu. I ordered the Blueberry cobbler, which was delicious and a perfect end to the meal. Service was friendly and attentive. Went on a Sunday and was suprised to see valet. The place has a good vibe with live piano music. I didn't like the lack of craft beer though. Good service. Tried the calamari and it was by far the best I've had. Order a strip steak as my entree and it was also the best I've had although my girlfriend said she's had better. Finished off with a creme brulee dessert which was good, but I wish I went with the blueberry cobbler instead. Would definitely go back. A little pricey. read more

We came here after brewfest. What a great choice! I had the veggie burger. It was fresh made not a packaged burger! It was awesome! My aunt also had the vege burger and liked it. 2 had the fish and chips. It was very good but a small portion. Another had the turkey burger and thought it was good. It is a very cute quaint place in the heart of Bucks County. What an awesome area!!!!! We finished our meal off with the homemade rice pudding with fruit and almonds. Absolutely amazing!!!! First time there today, and I can't wait to go back! Cute place, we opted to sit outside on this beautiful day. Chris, our waiter was very personable and professional. I like that he recited our order back to us, word for word, from memory. He was attentive, but didn't hover. We got the buffalo wings to start. Best wings we've had! They were meaty, juicy and the sauce had great flavor. I had the Ruben, and it was fantastic! Lots of tender meat! Not one tough piece! My husband had the Bowman burger, and he said it was delicious. He asked for it medium, and it was cooked perfectly. We had fun trying to figure out what was in the "special sauce", on a bet by the waiter. Apparently we got close, but not right. I feel like our experience was pretty good at Bowman's Tavern. A group of six of us went, and each of us was able to find something that we liked on the menu, but the menu was not very extensive ... and it seems like everything is served with mashed potatoes and green beans. The food was pretty good, I would give the food alone 3.5 stars (tastes good but not enough selection). Service was not great. I came with a group of 4 years ago and had a similar experience. The server was not very attentive and had a bad attitude. For the food: I had the fried chicken sandwich with French fries. The chicken was nicely fried and there were plenty of toppings, but the breading got soggy extremely quickly. It was difficult to eat as well because the sandwich was so tall. French fries were pretty good. My fiancé got crab cake sandwich with onion rings and he was a fan. I tried an onion ring and loved it. I don't eat seafood so don't know about the sandwich. Others got steak, fish & chips, crab cake meal, and some sandwich (maybe a Reuben?). Everyone said their meal was pretty good. The meals with potatoes commented that there were too many mashed potatoes. The Tish & chips were apparently very good. Overall, I can't complain too much about the food but I wish there was more to choose from, and I wish this place had better service. read more
