Traditional Cuban Sandwich
John B.

Silver Ring was recommended to me as great place for a Cuban sandwich. A low-key, simple place with decent food and decent prices. My wife and I were in the area and figured a Cuban sounded good for lunch. Luckily, Silver Ring was in the same plaza. A bit hidden almost. We walked over and the place seemed fairly busy for a Saturday around noon. A few people sitting around, no line, but there was one after we got our seats. A wall of booths and a few scattered tables. We both ordered our sandwiches, I got the large and my wife got the regular. The old school menu sign with the 80s look, plastic letters on a plastic board. Nostalgic. The service was quick and friendly. The woman behind the counter got us all set with drinks and chips for a side. We took a seat and about 5 minutes later, our food was out. Warm and pressed. Thinner that I expected. I did like the bread. It wasn't too "bready". It was crispy and fresh. The meat was ok. I struggled to find the pork but it was there, sliced thin and lost in the ham. There was also the traditional swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. My wife had hers "all the way" with lettuce, tomato and onion. Mine was traditional. We took our time enjoyed our sandwiches. They were just the right lunch. I like how they have varied sizes, allowing to have a lighter meal if you want but also a big one to satisfy even the greatest appetite. They are affordable as well. Our lunch was around $20 The ambiance is definitely relaxed and local with a bit of history. The walls are lined with pictures of local celebrities that have visited the shop, local sponsorships and local sports athletes. It wasn't the best Cuban sandwich we have had but it wasn't the worst. The flavors were there and if were craving a Cuban again, we'd come back for sure. I suggested you check out this local Riverview restaurant!

A sign that lies. Not open at 4:00 on a saturday? Maybe this is why you're slow.

Closed, I'm writing this at 3:53pm on a saturday. Posted hours are Mon-Sat 10-5pm, was told by lady walking out EARLY that they close at 4:00... Drove from Bradenton to get subs for my family and my parents. 6 sub sales GONE and with that crappy business awareness, I may not be back. 40-year client and may have had my LAST SILVER RING.

Best Cuban sandwich EVER? No. But, it's not the worst I've had, either. Silver Ring was housed in Ybor City until the mid '90's, but has taken up residence in Riverview since. A very good friend (whom I take his foodie advice seriously as his family was in the restaurant biz) feels only Silver Ring makes the perfect Cuban this side of Cuba. So much so, we drove to Riverview to see if things have changed. I had a mini Cuban, all the way, and we shared a Devil Crab. Both were mediocre, I feel. The sandwich was missing pork, but my friend said the flat piece of meat was the pork. Whatever. The Devil Crab has very little, if any, crab in it. So, in my opinion, if you happen to find yourself in Riverview, stop on by. But, don't go out of your way.

A bit pricey for a press Cuban. The Cuban are smaller than the other cubans I have tried in past. Place was clean.

The best Cuban sandwiches you can get in the Riverview area! It is definitely a hidden gem. They also have some pretty good deviled crabs.

It's a pretty big cafe with big tables for a group of friends or large families. It seems to be a place for all age groups as I saw kids, teenagers, young adults, and adults. They had "How to Train your Dragon" the live action playing while I was there which is a bonus in my book. They also had some arcade games, board games, and lots of chess boards. Relaxed seating area and everything is a bit mismatched, but that just adds to the vibe. The bathrooms are STUNNING. I've never been to a cafe with a bathroom that fancy whoa. The service was very friendly, gave us recommendations based on the popular items ppl get. I got the velvet amber half decaf and my partner got the cinnamon toast latte. Both were great. They also serve Kava, Teas, mushroom gummies, and additives you can add to your drink. They also offer CBD consultation. Overall, I will be coming back to battle some of my friends in chess and do my study dates there.

I also got a cinnamon roll with crushed almonds on top. This was the highlight. service was great. The barista was super nice. I'll be back.

I didn't know about this place until my Yelp friend Tim wrote an awesome detailed review about it…read more It took me a while to try it, but I finally did last year. He was very right. Naida makes some tasty Cuban sandwiches here for a good price. The star of the sandwich is Naida's roast pork. It's well seasoned and it totally makes this sandwich shine. I usually get it with everything, but I keep forgetting that they'll include onions if you ask for it "all the way." It's good with or without it, but I prefer it without. Just keep that in mind and be specific if you don't want onions on your sandwich. Naida also makes the best café con leche. I sometimes go there just for Cuban toast and that awesome coffee. It gives me energy! They have a small hot bar area of daily offerings with some kind of rice and beans. It may change daily. I haven't ordered a platter, but I will one day. They do have a tasty arroz con salchichas side item. My mom used to make it sometimes with those little canned Vienna sausages. Yeah, it's a comfort thing for me. They also make wonderful breakfast sandwiches and ham croquettes. El Cuba Cafe is hidden inside of a Circle K convenience store on Bell Shoals Road. It's directly across the street from Publix at Bloomingdale Square. I know it has Cuba in the name, but their is a lot of Puerto Rican representation here. That may also be why I'm so fond of it. It's also super convenient, and the service is great. I usually drive in the back way to avoid all the construction nearby. There's no dining area. You just order your meal and take it with you. It's a no frills kind of place. A real hidden gem!
