The personal lengthy anecdotes and contract semantics, and unverified stories and excuses and assumptions in owners response are not relevant to the core issue: my kitchen was declared 'complete' with essential electrical and plumbing work left unfinished. To finish my kitchen project, additional cost I had to pay for these 5 things myself in Nov 2025. 1) Install the hot water system in the kitchen. 2) Had an electrician replace old existing switches with new switches. PLUS 3) Applied grout sealer on all the tiles. 4) Had a painter do touch ups and small drywall repair in 2 areas. 5) While 6 drawers were installed correctly, One clearly had a gap requiring correction. Owners extremely lengthy emails to me with drawings were totally waste of her time. A simple, 10 minute fix "by a handyman" resolved what had become an unnecessary prolonged issue with the drawer. I have taken full responsibility for not scrutinizing the contract. It is disappointing that the company cannot admit its own mistakes and take similar responsibility for its lack of clear communication and oversight managing the project. We refaced our worn old white kitchen cabinets combined with some custom work as well, all by Boyar's. It was reasonably priced and looks beautiful. They do not touch the inside of the old cabinets so we did our own touch-up work on the inside. We love the soft close, color, and real wood on the drawers and cabinet fronts. Very pleased that doors and drawers do not collide when opened. We were able to keep our sink and countertop. We recently completed a kitchen remodel with Boyar's Kitchen Cabinets, and overall, the finished product looks very nice. The doors and drawers are well-aligned, the color consistency is excellent, and the aesthetic of the space is clean and updated. Several aspects of the experience were very positive, but there were also some disappointments worth noting. Positives: Quality of Work: The craftsmanship on the doors and drawers is excellent. Everything fits well, and the final appearance is sharp and cohesive. Team Professionalism: The contractors who work directly for Boyar's were courteous and respectful. They were able to work in our home even when we were not present, which made scheduling much easier. Customer Service: Both the owner and office assistant were polite and helpful, whether over the phone or in person. Melissa, in particular, was responsive to our concerns--she visited our home, took photos, discussed solutions, and followed through with addressing the issues we raised. Areas of Concern: Sales Promises vs. Reality: The salesperson made strong claims about not needing trim molding due to the quality of their product. In reality, the remodel included as much trim as our previous kitchen. Additionally, we were told the laminate seams would be nearly invisible. Unfortunately, they are quite noticeable--especially on angles over 90°, which is disappointing given our white cabinetry. Plumbing Issues: The day after installation, our faucet began to leak. While the company returned our call promptly, the plumber was dismissive and unhelpful. He stated the faucet was faulty and not his responsibility, refused to return, and was generally disrespectful during the conversation. Ultimately, I resolved the issue myself by watching instructional videos and securing the mixing valve. Follow-Up Repairs: Cracking appeared along the seam between the countertop and backsplash soon after installation. This issue was eventually corrected. Around the same time, we noticed a hairline crack in the sink (purchased separately) that began to spread. After some negotiation, Melissa agreed that if I pursued the warranty claim, their plumber would reinstall the replacement sink. Key Frustrations: There were two moments that encapsulated my disappointment: Contract Clarity: When I raised concerns about the visible laminate seams--especially in light of what the salesperson promised--the owner told me everything was explained in the terms and conditions. This response left me feeling that the sales approach may prioritize closing the deal over setting clear, realistic expectations. Important details buried in a lengthy contract shouldn't be used to justify misleading claims. Scheduling and Accountability: When trying to schedule the sink reinstall, I arranged to take a day off work to be present. The plumber canceled at 8 p.m. the night before. When I voiced my frustration, I was told the plumber was doing the company "a favor." It often felt like the burden of the project fell most heavily on me, the paying customer. read more

The only reason I have taken off one star was due to the length of time that we had to wait ( approx 3 months) to have our job started. But; it was definitely worth the wait! I guess that just shows that they are very busy due to the amazing work they do. Forgive me, but I can not recall our cabinet man's name from this company, but his attention to detail and hard work was outstanding. Read the reviews of longer term customers... We had our cabinets completely redone with Boyars in 2017. We were very happy with their work at first. After about 5 years the lack of quality began to show. For instance the paint on the garage can pull out deteriorated, as well as the cabinets under the sink. Now 8 years later we need to have them completely repainted, and the quote that Boyars gave us was ridiculously expensive, even with our paperwork they didn't offer any warranty work . I wouldn't recommend using them from a long term perspective, you'll end up paying more in the end. read more

I do not recommend Boyars because the quality does not last. The refacing material peels off after some time. This was a cost-saving solution initially when we remodeled our kitchen but I have REGRETS because the materials peel off like a cheap warping plastic. If you use Boyars BEWARE that the lifespan of your cabinet is not long lasting. If it were a cheap fix, or temporary solution, then it might be worthwhile; but if you are investing in a quality upgrade, save yourself the headache down the road and buy quality cabinets elsewhere. Refacing is a low-budget fix with long-term costs both to the aesthetics & functionality of your cabinetry. See images of Boyars disintegrated resurfacing work. *^Non-refaced cabinets do not peel off from regular usage.** (my previous cabinets were 25 years old & had no such issue.) I'm posting this so prospective customers can rethink this quasi-low budget option. I wish I had similar advice. UPDATE: I read the response from Boyars & uploaded proof of purchase, contract #44489. 5 STARS *****TO BOYARS KITCHEN CABINETS CO. I had a Plastic-Coated kitchen cabinet (from a big box store we all know) DISASTER on my hands and could not stand to look at it for another minute. I did not have enough money for a complete remodel and my kitchen footprint, and boxes were fine, so I opted for a re-surface job. I interviewed 4 companies. My final interview was with John of Boyars. I listened to his sales pitch. I asked him questions. Then he said the magic words "we use WOOD veneers and I have samples in the car." OMG, I didn't think I could afford wood veneer Kitchen upgrade! I asked him the most important question of all... "HOW MUCH WOULD THIS KITCHEN COST" and he gave me a bid that was thousands less than the yucky Plastic-coated cabinets from other companies. I said YES, it caught him off guard. He stopped. I said, "you had me at Wood Veneer". He was so thrilled that I agreed on the spot to use them that he through in a free pull-out trash receptacle door with recycle and regular bins. I had already ordered my new countertop from a vender, and he asked who is doing your tiling? I said I didn't have anyone yet, he said "we can do that also if you like". I love to have only one contractor working the job as it keeps things running smoothly with less problems. His price was excellent, and I got a HUGE discount on my selected tile from a major supplier as they were already on the Tiling companies list of preferred venders. During the Kitchen remodel I had a Boyar employee, Sarah, assigned to manage my remodel. She did a fabulous job, everything ran smoothly, I could NOT believe it. I had the most talented artisan resurface professional, Hector and his son Hector Jr. and they were always on time, going above and beyond the call of duty. Boyars saved my kitchen! When I bought my home, the first thing I wanted to do was update my kitchen. I wanted to do cabinet refacing and add new appliances. I called Boyars. All staff was easy to work with, friendly, and responsive. On day one of the job, they removed my old countertop and to my great disappointment, my lower cabinets and countertop area were infested with roaches - yuck! Boyars was able to save me, however. They were honest with me and advised that due to the condition of the lower units, it was best to demo them and put in completely new cabinets and base. However, they didn't try to rip me off. They advised that the upper units were free of any infestation and that in order to save money, I should reface those, rather than completely replacing them. I was thankful for the honest advice and it felt like they had my very best interest at hand. They have modern ideas with color and design. I had some fun with picking different colors for the upper and lower units. Also, I was obsessed with some gold handles that they showed me and they even assured me that hey, it's ok to have your faucet and handles not match. They were right! My kitchen is small but looks fabulous and modern, thanks to Boyars. Don't settle for big companies that will rip you off. Pick someone who cares about their customers... Boyars! read more

Boyars replaced our kitchen cabinets after a leak in the upstairs master bedroom damaged them beyond repair. The first technician came out meticulously measured everything. It took hours, but ended up being well worth it. Then the father-son team of Hector and Hector came for the install. These two were wonderful. Such nice men and true craftsmen they were. They took their time and did a fantastic job. They even altered the plan slightly by upgrading our pullout garbage tray to something much, much better than what we had. After they were 'done' they came back to ensure that the doors were hanging properly and the handles straight. I can't compliment the work Hector and Hector enough. Several years ago we hired the company for a fairly large kitchen remodel. They did a magnificent job. We recently needed some new hinges and a few adjustments and at no charge they sent Hector to the house and within an hour the cabinets are like new. I client came to me and said he likes the look of the cabinet from this showroom. I stop by to see if I could work with this company and have them build and install the cabinets for us. I was greeted by this lady who has no clue on what the door he was talking about about. Then came Millessa who's is in meeting with a client, I pulled my phone out to show her the clients message and she shuts me down and rudely said there's no pictures in her showroom. Agreed just wanted to show the message and confirm what he like as I he already took photos of the door. They said If they don't know this client and if he wanted the cabinet, he would have to sign the contract himself and a GC cannot work with them directly. While they did excellent work in initial installation, two of the drawers they installed are fallimg apart. They declined our request for help (we were not invoking the lifetime warranty. We would pay fot service). They refused to help because we could not produce a copy of the contract ... it was several years ago. I had my 1956 built kitchen refaced about 10-years ago. They modified some cabinets. The kitchen looked brand new after the cabinets were refaced with cherry wood. The carpenter who did the refacing, who worked for Boyer's, was a master craftsman and his was very precise and perfectionistic. In addition, he was very neat and the each day the work site and kitchen were in clean condition. The finish on the wood has held up well and it still good. The kitchen still looks new. Recently, I needed to replace my dishwasher. I needed to change the width of the the board above it. I needed some veneer to match the kitchen refacing. The owner of Boyer's was very kind and supplied me with a strip of veneer so that I could install my dishwasher and have the board above it match the rest of the kitchen. I took my time deciding whether to write this review. One year after Boyar's installed my kitchen cabinets, I still cannot believe how we were treated by this company. Briefly, the installer (Juan) left his tools in our unoccupied house overnight. The tools were missing when he returned the next morning. Lots of workers had had access to our home. The owner (Melissa) DEMANDED that we reimburse Juan thousands of dollars for his tools (mind you, we were not even living at the home at the time). When my wife refused to pay up, Melissa threatened to delay the work, knowing we were on a strict timeline. In the end, the work was completed, but not without a lot of unnecessary stress. AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

Expensive and inaccurate I had a terrible experience. I ordered new kitchen cabinets and the sales person took very detailed measurements. They had a second person come out to remeasure and he took inaccurate measurements. When the installation team came out to install, nothing worked right because the cabinets were not the right size. I had to live for one month without the ability to store dishware in my cabinets so they could come out and reinstall. I had to beg management to have a supervisor come on site to ensure that things would be done correctly. Even then, there are small blemishes in the installation. 30 minutes after they finished they withdrew their final payment from my credit card. I called Boyars and made an appointment with Taylor asking if they service Fallbrook she said they did. Bill came out on Veterans Day, spent a good amount of time going over kitchen cabinet resurfacing options until we chose on a cabinet and drawer pattern and color. He quoted me a price and said they were booked till early December. I gave him my email asked him to email me the quote and pencil me in. Then I never heard a word. I called the office several times and each time they said Bill would email me the quote. Today I called and asked Melissa the Office Manager to call me back and she had the audacity to tell me that they don't service Fallbrook even though it says they do on their website. I asked why they would schedule an appointment and give me a quote and she said they only service San Diego County. When I informed her Fallbrook is in North San Diego County, she then changed her story and said they don't service north of Vista. Boyars has no regard for wasting people's time. Very disappointing process. Kitchen cabinets were to be installed the week of 10Jun24. Installers delayed two days, but completion still promised by 14Jun24. Installer advised he couldn't finish on the 14Jun24. No explanation. Called the scheduler, she did not call me back until the following week. Wrote my original yelp review on that date, but the owner asked me to take down the review in to give her time to understand what was going on. The following week I was told the trim arrived but was the wrong color. Re-ordered. Installer arrived to install the following week, but learned the wrong sized trim was ordered, as the trim did not cover the areas previously covered. New trim ordered and the work was finally completed today, 5 weeks later. The only compensation for delays/inconvenience offered was 1.3 % of the overall price. Boyars refaced and replaced the kitchen cabinets in my rental condo in 2019. Counters and kitchen sink included. They also replaced the counters in both bathrooms and installed new sinks and installed new faucets and associated plumbing in everything. In some cases it is up to the customer to determine that an old cabinet should not be refaced and just replace it. Usually it's obvious, but sometimes you don't know until the countertop is removed. Time is usually not an big issue if you run into unplanned cabinet replacement, Boyars can build brand new cabinets quickly and they are great quality and reasonably priced. However, it may be up to the customer to determine if a cabinet is just too compromised to reface. My wife and I were so happy with the results at our rental condo that we used Boyars for our house in 2020. Boyars refaced our huge kitchen, 3 bathrooms and hallway cabinets. All counters with beautiful granite. All brand new appliances via Aztec Appliance at special Boyars customer prices. New faucets/plumbing all around. Awesome slow-close mechanisms on everything. Be aware that you need to help out some. Be prepared to take charge on any needed in-cabinet, under-cabinet or under-counter electrical work (including lighting). Be aware that Boyars subs out work for countertop fab/install, appliance installation and plumbing. However, they are all great. Mike with 911 Plumbing is great. Andreas the countertop guy is great. Can't speak about any other sub Ks that Boyars may use. My wife and I are extremely pleased with Boyars, Kent at Aztec Appliances, Michael P. appliance installation team, Mike at 911 plumbing and Andreas the countertop guy. I had my cabinets refaced as well as countertops and backsplash replaced through Boyars and I could not be happier!! I worked with Stacey on the design, she was wonderful. Super nice, very accommodating when I had to reschedule appointments with her a few times, and extremely patient while I worked through my indecision on choosing colors, countertops, and backsplash - changed my mind a few times on all of these and she was able to work with me with the patience of a saint. Before they started the work, I received an email outlining the schedule and that schedule was accurate, so I was able to plan around not having a kitchen (that I could use) for about 10 days. There were a few minor hiccups but were fixed as soon as I contacted Boyars (hanging light fixtures needed to be reassembled and oven had not been properly plugged back in after countertop installation). And of course, the finished product is beautiful!! I am so happy. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. And it's a lot cheaper than a complete renovation. I feel like I got a brand new kitchen at a bargain price. A special shout out to the tile installers who really worked hard to make sure I was happy with everything before they left the job. Here's our experience with Boyars: - We were promised something, but delivered something different (i.e. said job would take 3-5 days, but ours took 5 WEEKS; we were misled about the actual install process; we were told it would take 4-6 weeks for samples to arrive but it took 10+ weeks; when job started they were missing materials, shoddy workmanship resulting in repairs (photos to prove); the thermofoil shows dark/black seams that only the fine print in the contract informed us about) - very little communication from Boyar's after collecting half of the money upfront. We had to constantly remind our sales person to check on the status of samples and call in to ask about start date. Often times we were told by numerous reps ''that's not my job'' related to product delays or scheduling snafus. There was no ownership or communication of how things were going. There was lack of communication within Boyar's from the scheduler to the measurement crew, from the installers, to the salesperson. We had to keep reminding each party of what it was we had ordered. None of them either remembered or had a clear view of the order we placed. This was very concerning, and ultimately our job suffered because of insufficient communication within the Boyars team. Their payment schedule results in 90% of the fees due prior to completion of the job. This was very concerning considering all the issues we encountered. We had very little recourse and were at the mercy of the unreliable company with reps all telling us issues ''isn't my job". After this poor experience, I spoke with the owner and gave feedback about my experience. She acknowledged that the errors shouldn't have happened and offered to credit me ~1% of the total bill. This does not sufficiently compensate us for the headache and broken promises suffered by this company. I would not recommend this company to family/friends.
