Went here a couple days ago. I know absolutely nothing about motorcycles or gear. I'm beginning my riding journey. Before learning to ride I need gear. When I walked in I was in a foreign land. I was pleasantly greeted and welcomed by Colin. He helped me pick a helmet first. I thought this would be simple but turns out my head is tiny! Colin walked me through trying on MANY helmets all the while giving me helmet info, explaining the safety ratings, and do's and don'ts about them. The XS helmets were all big on me except one that was too small. So he suggested a helmet with mips ( how knowledgeable do I sound ) and added pads that he changed out for me. It felt customized! Didn't slid forward, all that stuff. I also got a jacket. He told me about the safety rating for the jackets and was so helpful. At checkout Colin made a suggestions for my helmet that I bought. When I got home and tried my helmet on I realized how much he nailed it with the helmet and suggestions. I totally trust his knowledge about the gear in their store and will absolutely be back when I'm ready for more stuff. IMO Colin is the GOAT jr. I say this cause there was a girl there who was obviously a real GOAT expert. She was like a living Google search. She knew EVERYTHING off the top of her head. Walking into Cycle Gear after purchasing my first bike back in July of last year can be intimidating; being new to the whole motorcycle scene. However, much like the help & customer service I received at RevZilla, Cycle Gear was no different. The customer service was open, non-judgmental, and extremely helpful. My good friend, AA, returned to Cycle Gear to exchange a pair of Alpine motorcycle gloves. The stitching around the wrist was coming undone. The sales associate was able to find AA's purchase through his RPM account and the exchange was easy puh'cheesy! The hardest part of the transaction was AA finding a replacement pair of gloves. While we were there, AA also upgraded his speakers for his Cardo bluetooth headset. The sales representative also helped with the replacement process of changing out the speakers for his helmet. (Thumbs up) After I first purchased my 2018, Honda CB500XA in July of 2023, motorcycle gear was my next priority... 'But where to begin?! I remember walking into Cycle Gear for the first time while shopping for a jacket. So many jackets to choose from; street, sports, cruisers, to adventure bikes... (sigh) After looking at the wide variety of jackets for 15 minutes, I became too overwhelmed and eventually just left. I had some more research to do. I eventually bought an adventure style jacket from Klim. I ended up purchasing the jacket, pants, and boots from RevZilla in Costa Mesa. With that being said, Revzilla, Cycle Gear, and J&P Cycles have one thing in common: their parent company, Comoto Holdings. The customer service that I received from both RevZilla and Cycle Gear were both exceptional and helpful. Be extremely careful when shopping at Cycle Gear. I went in to purchase an item for my motorcycle that I had already seen online for $120 (on sale from around $180). The sales rep clearly didn't know I was aware of the sale price, and it seemed like he tried to take advantage of that. He pitched me on a rewards program, telling me it would cost "around $8" -- but in reality, it cost $40. With that added, my total came out to about what the original full price would've been, essentially wiping out the discount I came in for. After leaving, I noticed two separate charges on my account: one for the discounted item, and another for $40 for the membership -- which I never fully agreed to under honest terms. This was completely deceptive and misleading. I had to dispute the charge with my bank and report it as fraud to get my money back. Bottom line: double-check everything if you shop here. Pay attention to pricing, memberships, and charges -- because based on my experience, they engage in highly questionable business practices at Cycle Gear. Went in yesterday and was helped by Dylan. Brought a helmet I bought my daughter in because it was defective and ended up getting her a new helmet off warranty and then decided to buy a sena 20s with upgraded JBL speakers also. Dylan took the time to make sure my daughter tried on the new helmet before buying it and installing the sena and I am so glad he did because the new helmet, even though it was made by the same company, was actually a newer model and the shape changed a little and the xs was to small for my daughter now. He ended up finding the size S for us while at the same time interacting and talking to my 3 year old son and making sure he didn't feel ignored. Dylan was extremely helpful, kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. Both my kids had blast hanging out and waiting because they felt involved and heard by not only me but by Dylan and his coworkers. 10/10 experience and will most definitely be bringing my business back here read more

I rode down to this Cycle Gear this past Saturday since it was on the way to Rancho Santa Margarita. Conveniently located right off the 5 freeway and Lake Forest Dr. They're open at 10am. Not too late but not too early either. The employees there are friendly and very knowledgeable. I went in for some winter gloves. I didn't find what I was looking for but they had alternatives for me and I went with a glove liner to keep the cold out. Needed a new helmet and this place had an amazing selection. They pretty much have most accessories and motorcycle gear one might need. Tim asked if we needed any help and guided us through the ins and outs of helmets and what new features each had. He had us try on several sizes to get the right fit and explained all the safety features in each one spelling out the pros and cons. Came here with my bf today to buy him some "gear"- helmet, gloves, jacket, and some back protector. My bf is new to riding (and I was only there for financial support- hello, early Christmas presents!), so I was incredibly relieved with how helpful they were with explaining what he needed to get and all the options. Tim was so helpful! The only item not in stock was the gloves, so they placed an order for us and are having it shipped to the house- free of charge. Customer service on point. Got helped by Matt, who was able to showcase several helmets for me and answer all the general questions I had relating to motorcycle gear. As a relatively new rider, accessories and gear can be a bit of a daunting task and helmets can range anywhere from $100 to $500+. Had the chance to try on some Arai helmets that they had in stock and also get a feel for the different head shapes offered in each helmet shell. Obviously online will have a lot more items in stock, but it's still nice to have a brick and mortar location to truly get a feel and look at certain items. I noticed they also have the back of the shop that helps to service and change tires (as I believe if you purchase tires from Cyclegear, you get a slight discount if they help you install the new ones). Good service, decent selection, and helping point a new rider in the right direction is most likely the reason on Cycle Gear's success online and in person. read more

Went to the Laguna Hills, CA store to buy some gloves. They had a wide variety in stock to choose from, from low rise to gauntlet. Matt was very knowledgeable about the various models and helped us to find what we needed. Upgrading to a new riding jacket was already on the back of our minds, but we didn't buy before because we had lots of questions on what features to look for. Matt was very patient in answering our questions and helped to find the right jacket with regards to fit and protection level. His broad product knowledge and level of service is very hard to find these days. Plus Matt is a seasoned rider so he knows what he is talking about. Overall, a super positive experience! read more

I'm particularly writing this review for not only the very impressive employee staff but for their manager Matt Hall. Matt has always been beyond helpful over the past few years I've gone there. He's helped me decide on the best boots, pants, jackets ,gloves helmets ,and other things. He's helped me even with return on the items that didn't quite go right. I went to Cycle Gear in Laguna Hills to buy a couple of dirt bike helmets. Their online site said they had a lot in stock, but I know that websites are often outdated. I called in and Matt and Jacob told me exactly what they had on the shelf and held 2 of them for me. I went in and tried them on and they helped me locate some other options as well. They're located really close to Mission Motorsports (who are awesome as well, which is not something I can say about more than just a few dealerships) on Lake Forest Drive, off of the 5 and the 405. The building itself is quite small, but they stock all the essentials and can always order things in for you either to store or your house at no additional cost. Speaking of which, Tim, was the one who helped me ultimately order my new helmet. My head is, well let's say, odd. It's round oval and being in the North American market there aren't many manufacturers that make that shell shape. This didn't stop Tim from diving through piles of helmets to help me find just the right fit for me, whether it meant swapping cheek pads, climbing up the ladder to find a different helmet, or other various tedious tasks. He did them for me cheerfully and quickly, providing some of the best customer service I've received. All in all, it's not the place that makes this place a 5 star place, although it's quite good for being such a small store, but the level of customer care that the employees provide for their customers. read more

Can't even change a tire correctly. Got my wheel home disc was gouged, old counter weights were still on the wheel so now have two sets of weights lol and they forgot to put my dust cap back on. Called the manager told him straight out I'm not looking for anything back just wanted him to know what a crap job they did. He couldn't care less. Guess that's what you get when you put boys in charge. Good place to buys your oils and cleaning supplies, but will be getting my tires change by a proper bike mechanic in future not the high school kids. read more

Not because I'm an MSF Rider Coach and I'm eligible for for a discount on merchandise. but because Cycle Gear always has a wide range of styles, options all with a fairly decent price point, especially when the merchandise goes on sale or on clearance. I don't mind the store brand names as they're more affordable than the big names yet they do the job. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Consistently amazed by the customer service! I've been coming to this cycle gear for all my motorcycle needs (tires, batteries, gear etic) for 5 years now. My most recent purchase was a pair EBC brake pads. I initially called in and spoke with Firas. Super friendly over the phone and helped me pick find the exact part number that would be compatible for my bike. Firas advised me that I would need to come into the store to complete the order. This is where I met Connor. No different. Connor was very friendly and more than helpful ordering my brakes. In no time my brakes were shipped to my house (free shipping)! I purchased tie-downs and chock to transport my motorcycle, and while at the register, another customer and the associate started a conversation with me about the items. The other customer was extremely nice and helpful and told me that Uhaul offers motorcycle trailers for rent (as he saw my tie-downs and chock). I later ended up not needing the two items and wanted to return them at a different location closer to me, but had misplaced my receipt. I called, and I believe the manager? (Tim!) went through the trouble of searching the system's history (as the month had just changed and my purchase record had been archived), found the receipt for me, and printed it so that when the other location called, he would have the information ready for them. I never write reviews but I feel as if this cycle gear deserves it. I've been going here for several years now and have always had a good experience. Most recently I got into riding street after riding/racing dirt for the past 8 years. Coming into street riding I wasn't too sure about which gear to buy and the fitment of it. I've came into this cycle gear 3 times to buy different gear for street riding. The first 2 times the manager helped me and he did a awesome job he's really helpful and knows what he's talking about. The other time I had another employee help me out and he did a awesome job helping me find the right boots for street riding. Most moto stores/ shops have bad customer service from my years of going to different dealerships and shops and this cycle gear by far is the best when it comes to customer service, being organized and clean. read more

Only problem is their selection. Came in to buy a helmet and extra accessories. First time biker so I had no clue what I was looking for. The guy helping me was pretty cool , but he was trying to up sell me on the shoei which was $399, it fit perfectly , but there must be another one. I asked if there were any other budget friendly helmets that are about the same and he said I tried them all. I almost bought it , but Decided I wanted to keep shopping around , good thing I did. Visited this store on March 21 or so; don't remember the exact day. Was time to replace my helmet. Dimitry was helpful and I ended up ordering a Shoei RF-1400. I also found a nice pair of summer gloves too. The helmet arrived a couple of days later and the fit was perfect. More comfortable than the Arai that it replaced. The gloves are comfortable and fit well. I understand that this store installs tires. I'll definitely consider using CG when the bike needs new shoes. read more

I came here to get a chest protector that I can use while driving. I don't have a sternum since my heart transplant surgery. An employee helped us try on and pick out a few chest protectors. I wanted to write a review from a new rider perspective. As a new rider, I was probably a bit more frustrating to deal with since I didn't really know how gear should fit, and didn't know what to expect when actually riding. The employees at Cycle Gear were extremely helpful and patient as I asked a ton of questions. The cherry on top is their customer service when things go wrong. The zipper on my jacket had a malfunction. I went back into Cycle Gear, and they took care of it in a painless manner. I also wanted to exchange a backplate that didn't end up working out due to be buying the wrong one for the new jacket that I bought. They made that transaction extremely painless as well.
