Our team caught a late dinner here after driving in to Buffalo this evening and we were so grateful that Bozeman Trail Steakhouse was still open We were warmly greeted by the staff and the exterior interior design is super charming and reflective of the local Wyoming country aesthetic...rustic, country vibes and welcoming. The menu is quite extensive and there is definitely something for everyone. I ordered a few appetizers and each of us got our own entrees. I've never tried a bison steak before so I went with that, and I personally wasn't a fan. Not because of the quality but just the nature of the meat is quite tough. But my friend ordered the prime, and it was huge! So he shared some of it with me and it was definitely the better of the two meets in my opinion. All the potato dishes were pretty good and to be honest the other entrees were just about average. Food was all slightly under seasoned and some items were definitely overcooked. But portions were generous and we even needed to leave for you to go boxes. Prices were also very reasonable. But what really makes this place special is the staff. Our server Tracy what's absolutely fantastic. She was kind, attentive and given that she's been working at Bozeman for a while... She was really knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations. She even brought us a few tasters the local brewed beer selections, which I'd like to go back and try some more.

This is hands down one of the best steakhouses I have ever been to. I got to my hotel at 7:50 and the man working the desk recommended here but warned me they close at 9. It was a Saturday night too so I knew I had to hurry, and I walked in the front door by 8:05. They were super nice and told me they could still serve me and my waitress was the nicest and sat there talking to me. The drink she made was delish, and can we talk about the bowl of ranch they brought me with the mushrooms? The perfect amount, I was able to put it on my loaded mashed potatoes as well then. I got the bison steak with Montreal seasoning and let me tell ya, I love bison now. I got pie and huckleberry ice cream to go too and I just finished the pie now, both were incredible. If you're ever in or around Buffalo, stop in here, some of the best food and service you're ever going to find.

The people here were very nice. The food was delicious! This is the best cooked chicken I've had from a restaurant. The dinner salad was simple but fresh and good.

We were staying down the street at a local campground and this place was recommended to us. Can't say enough how amazing this place is. Not just the atmosphere but the people here. Great ones selection great food selection was awesome specials. I recommend the ribs if they have them on the menu and saw steak go by that was killer. The coleslaw. Is fantastic!! Hubby had a great elk burger and asked for the blue cheese.. killer burger! Service was excellent!!

After a terrible experience at the Virginian downtown Buffalo, we felt back on Bozeman Trail steakhouse. I was craving a bison steak, a Wyoming meal on our way to Sturgis. The wife ordered the chicken with artichoke/spinash sauce. Both dishes were really good, generous portions, I was so satisfied with my meal, the steak was cooked perfectly! The staff was super fun and friendly, very efficient. The atmosphere is what I would have expected form a rustic Wyoming steakhouse! We had a great time, will definitely go back.

Service was great, but my BLT could use some work. I aslo ordered a Washington apple, and it was delicious.

    Grease galore!

I placed an order today for pick up and ordered a taco salad minus lettuce and tomatoes as currently the wife is unable to chew them due to dental issues. The taco salad was too salty, had no sour cream and had 1/4 or more grease in the bottom. The taco meat was more like a poor quality sloppy joe mix and unlike any taco meat i've ever seen. Even if it wasn't swimming in grease, the flavor was horrible. I called and complained about the meal going straight into the garbage and was told it was our fault that with no lettuce that will happen and they could not do a refund. I even stated, my food was fine and I wasn't looking for a total refund, only on hers that was not edible. So, in saying that....expect to get a 1/4 cup or more of grease with your taco salad if you decide ti try one...NOT RECOMMENDED! They did offer her a slice of pie if we wanted to come back and get it. So again, they don't care that your $15.95 taco salad was not able to be eaten, but we'll throw in a $5 piece of pie! No thank you, i'll take my business elsewhere from now on.

We ate dinner here this evening. The service was very good.. The food was average at best. I ordered my barbecue burger well done and it came a whole but bleeding. My wife ordered. The turkey grilled sandwich and hers came out as ordered and was very good. The sweet potato fries were different from any other place and the dipping sauce was excellent. With my burger, I ordered the homemade potato fries and some word. very good somewhere very flat and without flavor. The ambience seem to be steakhouse but.... The waitress was very friendly took good care of us. Don't know that we would try this place again.

I wanted a Wyoming style meal in Wyoming, and on Sunday at 8 pm, this is it. And in this state, towns are an hour apart, so you're hungry when you're hungry. For being the only available game in town, this isn't bad. Positives: Friendly staff, happy to talk to you as the evening goes. Very nice dining room - I was escorted left, another guest went right, and I didn't spy over there but I'm sure it couldn't be a detractor. Neutral: Food. They admit they get the pies from Costco and I feel like that's not the only food. Fries are good, a little thin but flavorful. Elk patty was as expected - a little dry, gamey, but also round shaped instead of hand formed. Kinda surprised there was no buffalo burger in the heart of buffalo country (there IS a buffalo steak), but got what I wanted. Can report that sundae includes real whipped cream and not anything artificial. Overall a solid choice from the highway. I just don't know what else there is in town that could top this because they weren't open to make their case. But this'll do, pig. This'll do.

Horrifyingly bad service. And awful food. Now you've been warned. I walked in about 815pm and asked if I could still order dinner, and was told yes. The waitress promptly came to my table, before I could even look at the menu and wanted my drink order. I asked if they had a bar and she told me they had a full bar, so I ordered a rye. Then I had to spell it for her. Things went downhill from there. I was never offered water, and pretty much had to trip my server to get a glass. When I looked at the menu, the first clue should've been very high steak prices for the area, and a prime rib sandwich with "American "cheese. Stupidly, my fault, I ordered the prime rib sandwich without cheese and a stuffed baked potato. The baked potato had clearly been made a day or so before, and the prime rib sandwich looks suspiciously like roast beef. You know, like the roast beef you would give the butcher back because it was too gross to eat. they assured me it was prime rib. Let me assure you it was not. It was also well done and disgusting. I asked for horseradish. I asked again for horseradish. I guess I shouldn't have asked for anything because they gave me dill pickles.??? The "sandwich" was served on white bread with butter on it. It wasn't steak bread, and it certainly wasn't what was described in the menu. This lovely meal sent me back $31.00 and I wouldn't feed it to my dog. Everything was inedible. The table beside me was also complaining about their food: they didn't get the vegetables they ordered because the kitchen was out, and her prime rib was served very raw. I would've been glad to trade. All I can say is thank God I didn't order the meatloaf. If you show up here, just remember, you've been warned.

Go thru Buffalo once a year, yet to find a decent evening restaurant. Unremarkable food, lousy service from waitstaff with no training...

To the point he had to ask the kitchen if he could put bacon on a cheeseburger. He lyrically messed up everything. ( small mistakes and some bigger ones)This place price wise is pretty expensive like $$$. So service wise I would give this place a one star. The server did fix all of his mistakes.Plus he was very apologetic. Flavor of everything was the next thing. Stale rolls on my sandwich. The other sandwich When it came out right was good. but not worth the price. I hate to be hard on places. But this I can easily say I do not recommend. On service and food quality.

I had high hopes. Yes, it's in the Holiday Inn, but the menu is ambitious and the Facebook page…read moreseems to indicate that the chef is serious. Boy, were those hopes dashed. The room is dreary and way too brightly lighted. The service was slow almost to the point of being nonexistent. Salads were fine, and my dining companion's "American Kobe" steak was acceptable, but my elk medallions were bizarre. Four pieces of meat, one that was fine and what you would expect an elk medallion cooked medium-rare to look like -- gamey, chewy -- next to three very thin, very dark pieces of what look to be previously frozen and overcooked beef liver. I ordered pasta Bolognese as a side dish because I had never seen it as a side dish before, and what I got was penne topped with what appeared to be canned diced tomatoes "Italian-style" and shredded mozzarella cheese. I ordered a glass of red wine that utterly stumped the waitress, even though (a) it's on the menu and (b) a bottle of the same wine is displayed up front. The drinks didn't come until we reminded the waitress once our entrees showed up. (The wine was fine, for the record -- a Spanish temperanillo). The other side dish, sweet-potato "barrels" -- was a pretty tasty take on tater tots. The waitress asked how the food was, and I explained, as nicely as I could, the "one of these things is not like the other" elk medallions, making it pretty clear they were Not Good. Her response? "So, would you like those boxed up to take home?" Again, I had high hopes, but any signs that this is anything but a pedestrian hotel restaurant (and really maybe not even that good) should be ignored. At that price point, you could eat pretty well at Oliver's or Wyoming's Rib and Chop House or 1893 Grille & Spirits.

They do have an interesting and diverse rotation of beers, which is nice. Night 1 - Ordered St. Louis style ribs and a simple side salad because I didn't want fries and a salad bar. Instead, I got baby back ribs cooked generically with some sweet hickory glaze pour over them. I think they need a better base flavor and less reliance on the sauce. Night 2 - Scallops and shrimp with broccoli and rice. I asked the server, please make sure they don't overcook the scallops. Upon delivery, it was difficult to cut the scallops with a fork. Seasoning was pretty good for chewy seafood. Broccoli and rice were - okay. Night 3 - Had a steak, rare, with a loaded baked potato and the salad bar. Salad bar was much better this trip. Yay! The steak had a great sear on it for actually arriving rare for such a thin slice. Loaded potato, should have skipped that and just loaded it from the salad bar. The only difference for $2 up-charge is green onions. Again, it was just okay.

Both were very good and hit the spot. There were a lot of vegetables in his Ramen Bowl and he said he would order it again. He's all about protein so it was nice to see him devour all the vegetables as well as the steak and noodles. I compiled a salad of my favorite Garden Bar items and then went back for 2nds on their broccoli salad and pumpernickel croutons. We walked in an hour before closing but our server was pleasant and did not rush us. Being near the end of the day it was less busy but the booth we were in felt cozy and we were able to slow down after a day's driving. They should wipe the dust off the pendant lights hanging over the tables as the rest of the room we were in appeared clean.
