Maybe it's the location, or maybe it's the ambiance, or maybe it's the food, but this is quickly becoming a favorite when I'm in the area. I got the two meat combo, with pulled pork and chopped brisket. It comes with two sides, which were potato salad and coleslaw. The combo shocked me. Why? Because unlike the usual two meats, this came with two giant sandwiches! Even more surprising, they were both very good. The pork was definitively smoky, with a great flavor. The brisket was thick, chopped properly, and had a beautiful texture. The sides weren't quite as exciting, but I couldn't really say they were disappointing. Very run of the mill honestly. Loved the ribs, the corn muffins!!! They have a wow factor. If you leave without eating a corn muffin, then you missed out. I had to take some with me they were so good. Meat was very tender, sauces were blended well, with several varieties to choose from, and the bratwurst....delicious! The place itself is small, but has a very comfy feel, superbly clean, and the bathrooms were super clean too. My moto is, if the bathrooms are clean, then the kitchen is more than likely clean too. You wont be disappointed with the service either. Very prompt, fast service, with a visit from the wonderful owner, who i might add, kept me amused. First off I just have to say wow. This was some of the best bbq...period... Owner is a veteran and a retired law enforcement officer, does this to keep busy. The bbq sauce is spot on, the ribs were fall off the bone and the brisket was superb. And let's talk about those funny looking fries, delicious and crunchy! Our experience was nothing like the majority of reviews. Probably a bad day. This is more of a lunch place with sandwiches and sides only. They were out of ribs at 5 pm on a Saturday . The cashier/ manager? Was not very friendly and rushed us through. It was hot inside and the portions on the sandwiches was laughably insufficient. No mac and cheese at a BBQ place? While traveling in Tomah we found this spot on Yelp. Our expectations were very low due to other eating establishments that we visited in the area. OMG, the food was great and the owner was fantastic. He was super friendly and took the time to explain the menu. He even came over and asked how we liked our food. The food was tasty, arrived super-fast, and hot. I'm not sure why the local population does not recommend this place to visitors. A co-worker and I were travelling for business and we wanted something other than a fast food option and happened upon BP Smokehouse. Being a BBQ judge, I keep my eye open for special places and I had my hopes up. Walking in from the parking lot, I had my hopes up because of the smells. I got a some brisket and pulled pork along with a side of the slaw. We sat outside and there were 2 types of sauces and ketchup. Unfortunately, not all the bottles were labeled so it was trial and error. We were there past the lunch hour and I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I felt both meats were on the dry side. I believe that BBQ shouldn't need sauce to provide moistness. Some of the meat was fine and some was dry, so not good consistency. The slaw I had could have used something as well. It tasted like cabbage directly from a Cuisinart. While it was better than stopping for a Big Mac, I didn't come away with the feeling that I found a hidden gem. I would need to try the place again to see if I just hit the meats at a bad time on that day. read more

My friend and I liked the place even before we got the food. The young guy with glasses working the counter was super friends and helpful. Now for the food. I always try to hit any BBQ I can find when I'm on the road and this one was a cut above. Employee suggested the brisket and we both had it. Have eaten here on several occasions. First time was right after they opened. I had a pork sandwhich,it was a fatty mess. The food was left in the smoker too long. Every bite i thought i was almost coughing as the smoky flavor was over powering and too much.. Very disappointed with pork. Bbq sauce is great, sidewider fries are great and seasoned good. The beans taste like they are bushes baked beans with alot of brown sugar added way to sweet. A disgrace to bean lovers. Over all i would rate this so called bbq establishment maybe a 2 out of 10 as the best thing about it was the decor and the fries. First off, there were two different addresses to be found for this place. The Facebook and Google address took us to a residential neighborhood with no BBQ. 201 Larkin was the correct address. Cliffs: Decent BBQ, probably very good for Nowhere, Wisconsin. Store bought tasting sides. Sandwiches are pretty good, but far from great. This BBQ joint is located pretty much all by itself, tucked away from the main road, with very little visibility from the highway. I'm glad we found it, though. We arrived about an hour before close on a Saturday night, and were told that the ribs were sold out, leaving only the sandwich options available. Those options were pulled pork, chopped beef brisket, pulled chicken, and smoked brats. The side options were baked beans, "sidewinder fries", green beans, potato salad, and another that slips my mind. We had several people in the party, and between the four of us, we ordered all the meat options. The pork and brisket were both very good, and very tender, if not a bit on the dry side. The brisket had very little fat and gristle on it. The chicken was very dry. The smoked brats were surprisingly good. The texture was pretty soft, and there was no "snap", but that's due to the smoking, I'm sure. The sides were very bland. We sampled the baked beans, green beans, potato salad, and fries. The fries were pleasant, although only half of them were crispy. Both bean options and the potato salad, however, tasted like "doctored up" versions of canned options. The service was quick and friendly. I would probably venture back, if in the area again, because there are very few other options around. read more

I would definitely eat here again if I lived here, if nothing else to give the service another chance because the food was very good! And the young lady that took my order was very nice! However, I came in at just after 1pm and it took over 5 minutes for someone to come out to take my order; I was the only one waiting to order. The dining room was full and I'm sure there were people waiting for their food...the girl that took my order was very pleasant and a positive note! I placed my order and took my seat...20 minutes later a server came and asked me what I had ordered. At that point I was one of 3 tables in the dining room. I told her "brisket sandwich, fries and corn". She informed me they were out of corn and I would have to pick another side. That's how I got green beans. I hear her go the the kitchen ask if my number was done and 5 minutes later my food appears with a "sorry about that" and she walks away. So, 5 minute wait to order, 20-25 minute wait for food...good thing the meal was good! This is a really cool place! It's low key and not crowded, a little off the beaten path and has great BBQ. I tried one of the combos and really enjoyed the pulled pork. The sauces were all really good, but I'd really like to see a vinegar based moping sauce. You order at the counter and the food comes out really fast.
