Locally owned and operated in the heart of Wailuku, this is my go to place to get local comfort foods. Tuesday to Friday they have all the local favorites and an amazing breakfast spread on Saturday. If you are in Wailuku this is a MUST STOP for local cuisine

Pastele stew, and pork vinasosh side of potato salad, and tofu.

Damn! This place was amazing. So glad I decided to drop in while I home visiting. The food is like the name true local grinds. Everything on the line look fresh and the two items I had was like having a home-cooked meal. I'll be back lol.

Best way to find a local gem! No one greeted us as we arrived at 2pm, offered menus, anything. We sat ourselves, ordered beers at the bar. Great beer selection. Found out after looking online that they had food and happy hour from 3-5pm. No problem, just don't expect a tip. Menu changes regularly based on old photos. We tried the roasted eggplant for $15, and waited until HH to get $2 off the smashburger. While the latter was quite good, the eggplant dish was standout unique and tasty. The sauce in which it was served harkened to African spicy peanut marinade, excellent match with the perfectly roasted eggplant. Wonderful salubrious surprise that will be recreated at home. I asked a fellow clearing plates the inspiration for this dish, he said he'd ask the chef but never got back to us. With all of 3 tables to concern himself with... Great food, nice chill vibe, distant DIY service. Worth a return visit.

I'm glad we listened. We sat at the bar for quick service. The service was fast and super friendly. I ordered the Smash Burger with bacon and an order of garlic fries. Everything is a la carte so if you want fries, just know they do not come with the burger. Everything was delicious. The Smash Burger was perfectly cooked, seasoned wonderfully, and so juicy! The burger also had some spice to it! It had some pickled jalapenos on it and they added the perfect heat. I loved it. The garlic fries were perfectly fried and crispy and had a great garlic flavor and kick. I will definitely come back here on my next visit to island.

Cupies always holds a special place in my heart. I've been coming here since I was little. Whenever my dad and my sister and I were in town growing up in the 90's, it was either stopping here at Cupies or the Dairy Queen nearby (which has since closed) for a yummy treat! They used to have a couple Arcade Games (with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat) and had every childhood favorite: the tower of coin operated prizes! Of course the FOOD was what got us coming back for more! I'd always get a Bento with hot dog, spam, chicken and rice OR the BEST hamburger and crinkle fries with Mustard/Ketchup container! The hamburger and fries combo is still my usual go to. Today I went for the special drink, a refreshing Calamansi Slushie. Calamansi is a little Filipino lime. Perfect balance of tart and sweet for this hot Maui day. I decided to get the Mini Hamburger Steak today. Plate lunches come with the option of Macaroni Salad or Corn for the side so I opted for the buttery Corn. I added Sautéed Onion and Mushroom to the Hamburger Steak and it was "broke da mouth" Ono! The Mini Plate comes with 2 hamburger patties so guessing a Regular Plate is 3-4 patties. Make sure you treat yourself to a delicious Sweet Crepe! My favorite is the Banana and we always add Nutella. If you're not feeling a Crepe, you need to get a delicious Shake! The flavors are endless: Ube, Pandan, Fruity Pebbles, or Cinnamon Toast Crunch! Dine in outside or call in an order and park on the far side wall and someone will bring out your order. I'll usually call in to hear their Specials of the Day.

The cashier was so welcoming and nice and apologized for the wait and even slipped me a side of poke. Absolutely did not need to do that but if they were trying to get rid of an extra order of food - by all means THE FOOD WAS WORTH IT. OMG. The burger was so juicy and savory. The bleu cheese combined with the burger so damn well. I couldn't stop complimenting it after each bite. My family got annoyed because I could hardly contain myself. I honestly prefer this vs Haven's Maalaea. Regardless. Great food truck. Delicious food. Poke is ono. Just do it.

We've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed my experiences here, but last night I had a dish that compelled me to write a review. The oxtail soup which is listed as a favorite is a dish I've been eyeing for a while, but it's usually been too warm for me to crave it. But last night was the night. I'm getting over a cold and it's been raining off and on for weeks. The bowl arrived at the table with a plate underneath - smart move because it takes some work to eat oxtail soup. Armed with my fork and spoon, I went at it. The first taste floored me. It was perfectly seasoned and I could taste the fresh ginger, the broth was a beautiful brown color, there was plenty of napa cabbage and it came with a dish of a scoop of glossy steamed rice and steamed carrots, zucchini and broccoli. Our waitress offered to bring over condiments so I went for the soy sauce - sprinkled on the rice and veggies, I noticed that the veggies might have had a little sesame oil flavor on them so that made me happy. A spoonful of rice dunked into the broth with some of the tender fall of the bone oxtail meat, and a little crunch of the napa cabbage and I was in absolute heaven. I tasted my husband's pork adobo and that was equally as delicious as always. But that soup - that's what really did it for me last night and stays with me today. I walked out of Tante's with a swollen and happy belly and a fresh, tiny piece of ginger stuck between my teeth...a treat for later.

Beer-battered in house and come with chipotle mayo dipping sauce, fried & light, not overly greasy, good with them using sweet Maui onions! Brother wasn't too hungry, so he ended up getting a Wedge Salad (LOL) but with extra bacon. Looked good too! Mom & wifey shared the Turkey Club - that was a BIG @$$ sandwich! Roast turkey breast with Applewood smoked bacon, mayo, lettuce and tomato between 3 slices of thick rye bread! Buggah was stacked! They both liked it, lean turkey with the fatty bacon, and the texture contrast of the fresh veggies made it tasty! My Beef & Pork Burger was a test to my cholesterol levels LOL! Near 1/2 pound burger made with ground chuck, cooked medium rare and topped with a pile of house roasted Kalua pork, lettuce, tomato, onion, crispy fried onions and BBQ sauce...was indeed a tower of a burger! Was pretty damn ono too! Burger got good char from the grill, and the kalua pork was flavorful and not dry at all. This burger didn't need a slice of cheese at all! Delicious!
