Locally owned and operated in the heart of Wailuku, this is my go to place to get local comfort foods. Tuesday to Friday they have all the local favorites and an amazing breakfast spread on Saturday. If you are in Wailuku this is a MUST STOP for local cuisine

Pastele stew, and pork vinasosh side of potato salad, and tofu.

Damn! This place was amazing. So glad I decided to drop in while I home visiting. The food is like the name true local grinds. Everything on the line look fresh and the two items I had was like having a home-cooked meal. I'll be back lol.

Lots of seating, good for groups. You order then sit (I believe) as thats what most people were doing. They bring you your food (think pancake & Waffles) when it's ready and you grab your own condiments. I ordered The Bento because I couldn't make up my mind. It included rice, mac salad,1 slice spam, Mochiko Chicken, BBQ Beef, and 2 large pieces of Shrimp Katsu. Mochiko Chicken is light and crispy and the Shrimp Katsu was battered and huge. The BBQ Beef was succulent and juicy however the sauce wasn't overwhelming. Spam is spam. The rice was a tad dry however the mac salad was good. I did not eat any of the other plates however since all were empty, Im assuming it was Ono. Next to the register there is a display case with various desserts. The next day going home, we stopped by to grab some dessert. The Lava Rocks come in a pair at $5.50. Moist, soft and super chocolaty. The chocolate haupia bar was very nice and not overly sweet. The Chantilly brownie was very chocolaty with a hint of Chantilly and nuts only on top. Both bars were a Shareable size. Overall the staff is very helpful and friendly, the restaurant itself, very bright & open and the food was very Ono! Highly recommend.

Cupies always holds a special place in my heart. I've been coming here since I was little. Whenever my dad and my sister and I were in town growing up in the 90's, it was either stopping here at Cupies or the Dairy Queen nearby (which has since closed) for a yummy treat! They used to have a couple Arcade Games (with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat) and had every childhood favorite: the tower of coin operated prizes! Of course the FOOD was what got us coming back for more! I'd always get a Bento with hot dog, spam, chicken and rice OR the BEST hamburger and crinkle fries with Mustard/Ketchup container! The hamburger and fries combo is still my usual go to. Today I went for the special drink, a refreshing Calamansi Slushie. Calamansi is a little Filipino lime. Perfect balance of tart and sweet for this hot Maui day. I decided to get the Mini Hamburger Steak today. Plate lunches come with the option of Macaroni Salad or Corn for the side so I opted for the buttery Corn. I added Sautéed Onion and Mushroom to the Hamburger Steak and it was "broke da mouth" Ono! The Mini Plate comes with 2 hamburger patties so guessing a Regular Plate is 3-4 patties. Make sure you treat yourself to a delicious Sweet Crepe! My favorite is the Banana and we always add Nutella. If you're not feeling a Crepe, you need to get a delicious Shake! The flavors are endless: Ube, Pandan, Fruity Pebbles, or Cinnamon Toast Crunch! Dine in outside or call in an order and park on the far side wall and someone will bring out your order. I'll usually call in to hear their Specials of the Day.

My husband and I took our retired pastors to Maui to renew our 40th anniversary and their 50th wedding anniversary. When we landed, I found this place on yelp. So we had breakfast here. Wow! So good. The food, the service. Not a large place, but at the time it wasn't busy and we got to sit down. After touring the big island the week before, then here on Maui we all decided that faithful grinds was our favorite place to dine. Everything we ordered on the menu was delicious and made with love. So on the way back home to fly out we all decided we need to go back. Again so good not busy, until later the line was out the door. So glad we got to eat before our flight. They all feel like family to me. I even posted a photo of the two gals working the front with me. It's like we could be cousins. The place is truly a small hole in the wall with the feel of the islands. I would totally come back every time I fly down. I recently noticed that people have been complaining due to seating. Why complain? So glad they are blessed and doing so well that they are so busy. Unfortunately for us once I post this review, they'll most likely get even more people lining out the door. That what happened to our favorite sushi place in Seattle. Once I posted a review, you can barely get reservations. Blessings to you all faithful grinds. Until we meet again! Aloha

But, the biz didn't answer their phone. All I got was the automated "voicemail not set up" pre-recorded message. A coworker called, same thing. Another coworker chimed in and said to order online but I was apprehensive to do so if they weren't actually open. She then called and actually got through, but got yelled at and scolded, told they're busy and to order online and even hung up on her. Really? I get it that everybody is short staffed, so why not activate your voicemail with a greeting to "order online" or just answer the phone cordially and relay the message? How can you treat customers like this, let alone locals who are your bread & butter? OVERALL: If service isn't good, I can't continue to patronize or recommend a place no matter how good the food is. I welcome this second biz, to my new collection, "Bad Service".

We've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed my experiences here, but last night I had a dish that compelled me to write a review. The oxtail soup which is listed as a favorite is a dish I've been eyeing for a while, but it's usually been too warm for me to crave it. But last night was the night. I'm getting over a cold and it's been raining off and on for weeks. The bowl arrived at the table with a plate underneath - smart move because it takes some work to eat oxtail soup. Armed with my fork and spoon, I went at it. The first taste floored me. It was perfectly seasoned and I could taste the fresh ginger, the broth was a beautiful brown color, there was plenty of napa cabbage and it came with a dish of a scoop of glossy steamed rice and steamed carrots, zucchini and broccoli. Our waitress offered to bring over condiments so I went for the soy sauce - sprinkled on the rice and veggies, I noticed that the veggies might have had a little sesame oil flavor on them so that made me happy. A spoonful of rice dunked into the broth with some of the tender fall of the bone oxtail meat, and a little crunch of the napa cabbage and I was in absolute heaven. I tasted my husband's pork adobo and that was equally as delicious as always. But that soup - that's what really did it for me last night and stays with me today. I walked out of Tante's with a swollen and happy belly and a fresh, tiny piece of ginger stuck between my teeth...a treat for later.

After getting back to our room I realized it was an ice cream cake so even as full as I was I tried to eat some cake before it all melted. The had the place decorated all up for Christmas. The lady that waited on us was super nice and kept our drinks filled. I love that attention.

Roast turkey breast with Applewood smoked bacon, mayo, lettuce and tomato between 3 slices of thick rye bread! Buggah was stacked!
