Took my haole girlfriend here on her first trip to Hawaii. SHE LOVED IT!! You want a real local kine experience come here. Old school vibes that I want when I come back to Hawaii after being away. Heavy pidgin? Check Aunties running around refilling coffee and water? Check Filipinos in the kitchen cooking while listening to MIX 105.5 fm? Check An eclectic mix of Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Hawaiian, and Korean decorations? Check A menu that includes pancakes, lau lau, loco moco, hamburgers, salads, AND daily specials? Check No gate keeping or localism here. They welcome everyone. If you're a tourist, don't be scared. Come to Tasty Crust and be with Ohana. My girlfriend loves it so much that everytime we come she buys a new tasty crust shirt in a different color each time. Chee hoo!

All day Breakfast available! Good simple food with friendly service. Casual American diner with reasonable prices. Stop by and give it a try when in Wailuku. It's been open since 1942 during WWII!

Sweet restaurant. There are tourists but imma gonna say it's a locals place cuz there were won't of them and the vibe was that way. It's old but it's clean. Food was yum. They have a parking lot which makes it even easier. What staff super friendly and fairly quick. Order st the table with waitress, get a tab, then pay st the register; like diner style. So if you want to leave a tip but pay by credit card, they ask you how much tip and add it to the bill they ring up, then clip the cash to the check. Interesting. Good prices for amount of food! Fried rice with an egg. Egg was good. Fried rice kinda bland. Overall together was good. Loco Moco. Good! Two scoop rice and one scoop Mac salad. Chicken katsu. Very good! Seemed like big portion. Boneless Korean rib. Not great. I was expecting more flavor like Kalbi. And it loses something without the bone. Mac nut pancake. Average. Liver with onions and bacon. I was told this was very good. I didn't try cuz I'm not a fan of liver.

This was our very last stop and while we weren't sure how hungry we'd be, boy am I glad we decided to stop by... First of all, it's a local diner with its own charm. The servers were so welcoming and kind. Definitely felt like a mom and pop joint for sure. The foood.. wow. Just... wow. My partner got the special, beef stew. I thought it was good, but their macaroni was really good and slightly different than other macaroni. I ordered the loco moco and ordered the breakfast one, cause it was smaller. It was just the right amount for me. We had first tried loco moco at the Kīhei caffe that everyone raved about, but it kinda traumatized me a little on the large amount of salt in that dish. But darn.... I wish I know it was going to be SO good here, would have gladly had the regular size. lol The price was fair depending what you ordered. Watching what everyone else was ordering, I felt like everyone was ordering a different thing. Must say a lot about the variety of options to pick from. Nothing much to say about the ambiance since it's a local joint, but I'm so bummed we're leaving and I'll be looking forward to this place again during our next visit back!

One of the most affordable places to get a meal on Maui hands down! Everything is simple and quick. We had the chopped steak, breakfast Loco Moco, and short stack banana pancake. They were delicious especially the banana pancake. That pancake was excellent! For takeout, we had one order of regular pancakes and the breaded teri beef (breaded teriyaki). The banana pancake is much better. The breaded teriyaki was different compared to other restaurant's breaded teriyaki. It was delicious but a slightly tough beef. The service was quick and friendly. We'll come back here as much as possible for the affordable food.

Local diner with classic American and Hawaiian options. Came here for a late lunch prior to going to Haleakala. I ordered the saimin with veggies and my friend had a tuna melt. We split a Kona mud pie as well. Credit cards are accepted as well as cash. You pay at the register once you've received your check. This felt like a homey, local spot. We enjoyed our meal and its cool to see that places with reasonably priced food still exists. There was free parking in the front and back.

As local as they come and as good as they get, Tasty Crust Cafe is a no frills restaurant serving local Hawaaian eats and at a cheap(er) price than most. Parking is a bit tight as there's not too much space around so beware of that. Once you enter, you immediately know you're in a local spot. The place itself is a bit older but it has a charm that you won't find amongst the over-tourism of Western Maui. We were seated for a party of 5 promptly and service was good. The food was pretty good, we expected a more homemade/traditional meal and that's what we got. We got orders of the Loco Moco and chicken katsu, the menu is a bit small so prepare for that. The Loco Moco was the best we had on the trip. Savory and well balanced, the hamburger tasty, the rice delicious, the gravy savory. The mac salad was also good, just a hit all around. The chicken katsu was good but not great, lightly breaded and juicy but not too flavorful. Still a good meal regardless of anything and it is great to support a local spot and feel like you're part of the island and not someone just visiting. If you're in the Wailuku/Kahului area, definitely consider stopping by for a quick and delicious meal.

Step away from the bougie tourist breakfasts and take a drive back in time. This is classic, old-school comfort food done right--the kind of breakfast you crave and keep coming back for. It brought me straight back to my childhood, and I wish places like this still existed everywhere. Warm, wholesome vibes the second you walk in, genuinely friendly service, and lots of local love. So good.

This place is like out of another generation and i think that's the appeal of it. The decor, the jbl Bluetooth speaker for music. The check left at the table and paying at the register Scrambled eggs just ok, bacon just ok with alot of fat on it. It's hard to describe as anything other than mediocre with how hungry i was i thought it would taste amazing! They lived up to their signs saying great pancakes though. Even just getting the plain ones were delicious. Almost ate my friends left overs About 15 mins for food to come. Good customer service and a big parking lot

Traditional breakfast. Two eggs over easy with Portuguese sausage. Side scoop of rice.

There is a certain level of satisfaction and nostolgia you get from visiting a place like tasty crust. It's like traveling back to the more simpler, happier times in life. The place got that old school diner feel. Upon arrival, you're greeted by the staff. You choose the table you'd like to sit at and they'll come with menus. Waitresses are really nice there and make great suggestions on your order that may or may not be on the menu. It seems that my team loves loco mocos so they've been loading up on those. Personally, I love Portuguese sausage with my eggs in the morning so that's what I got. Eggs came out perfect. Got a nice seat on the Portuguese sausage so a little smokiness from that char. Devoured it real fast. We talked story a little bit with one of the aunties. Her personality added a sprinkle of joy to our meal. Would 100% like to come back next time and/or try out some of the neighboring businesses. Nostolgia and service was just impeccable.

Great diner to enjoy some delicious food in a friendly atmosphere. Came here to enjoy some lunch with local family and really loved the tasty milkshakes. I know a lot of people come here for the pancakes (which I'm sure are delicious) but we grabbed burgers to complement are shakes with lunch. The burger is pretty filling alongside the shake so we ended up just splitting an order of the fries which was the right decision- perfect amount to share for 2. The service was fast, attentive and friendly! Parking seemed to be a bit limited in the parking lot out front, not sure if there was additional parking anywhere else.

This place was recommended to me by a friend. I got the loco moco and a short stack of the banana mac nut pancakes. I wish I'd gotten a full stack because that pancake was very tasty.

Another for the new year in Maui yelpers! When in Hawaii..a loco moco is always a must. And this place was it. I love finding a hole in the wall place that has excellent customer service, delicious food at great prices and a clean and relaxing atmosphere. Food came out fast and hot. My server was very attentive and had a great personality. I will be back soon.. Thank you TastyCrust!

The BBQ Beef was succulent and juicy however the sauce wasn't overwhelming. Spam is spam. The rice was a tad dry however the mac salad was good. I did not eat any of the other plates however since all were empty, Im assuming it was Ono. Next to the register there is a display case with various desserts. The next day going home, we stopped by to grab some dessert. The Lava Rocks come in a pair at $5.50. Moist, soft and super chocolaty. The chocolate haupia bar was very nice and not overly sweet. The Chantilly brownie was very chocolaty with a hint of Chantilly and nuts only on top. Both bars were a Shareable size. Overall the staff is very helpful and friendly, the restaurant itself, very bright & open and the food was very Ono! Highly recommend.

I asked the waitress what sandwich is the most popular and she said the Turkey Pesto Melt and boy did that hit! It really was the BEST sandwich. It was on a crispy, flaky...and might I add...buttery croissant with thick slices of turkey, tomato, creamy pesto aioli and melted provolone! It came with some chips and dill pickle on the side. The only downside was the price-it was about $17 so I'm sure I'll treat myself once in a good while to this. My small smoothie was $8 but refreshing nonetheless. We've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed my experiences here, but last night I had a dish that compelled me to write a review. The oxtail soup which is listed as a favorite is a dish I've been eyeing for a while, but it's usually been too warm for me to crave it. But last night was the night. I'm getting over a cold and it's been raining off and on for weeks. The bowl arrived at the table with a plate underneath - smart move because it takes some work to eat oxtail soup. Armed with my fork and spoon, I went at it. The first taste floored me. It was perfectly seasoned and I could taste the fresh ginger, the broth was a beautiful brown color, there was plenty of napa cabbage and it came with a dish of a scoop of glossy steamed rice and steamed carrots, zucchini and broccoli. Our waitress offered to bring over condiments so I went for the soy sauce - sprinkled on the rice and veggies, I noticed that the veggies might have had a little sesame oil flavor on them so that made me happy. A spoonful of rice dunked into the broth with some of the tender fall of the bone oxtail meat, and a little crunch of the napa cabbage and I was in absolute heaven.
