This is overdue! But I remembered, so that should tell you something about the quality of service by Ms. Darlene and her team. The shop is neat and clean and they are very welcoming. It's an open space, so you may be with other clients but it reminds me of being in the house with my cousins getting my hair done while we watch TV. I had my hair braided by Miss Darlene at Braids By Darlene for Burning Man last year and she did such a great job, I came back this year. So glad I did. Miss Darlene is an ARTIST and extremely skilled at her craft. Like last year, I came in with some photos, some packages of braiding hair in multiple colors, and a general idea of what I was looking for. I had a few requirements: I needed the braids to protect my hair from the desert's dry climate and high winds, they needed to last at least 2 weeks, and, of course, they had to look cool. Like last year, I let her take the creative reins, and I'm so glad I did. The braids not only protected my hair from the desert conditions but also looked incredible. The braids didn't get the slightest bit frizzy despite the crazy weather conditions over the two weeks on Playa. Miss Darlene's skills are top-notch, and she transformed my hair into a work of art. Can you even believe this before and after was achieved with one days notice and 5 short hours of hard work? Darlene is getting all of the applause from our family! I called the day prior to my appointment and told her I was visiting the area for two weeks and needed her assistance ASAP. She booked me an opening (7 hour slot) for the very next day and it was an easy drive of just 56 minutes from Morgan Hill to her location.
