Horrible customer service! Do not take your vehicle here. Took our vehicle there and after a month of them having it there a few different times they said they "fixed" it and it was still not right! Manager was unprofessional, rude, and not helpful! They got paid by a 3rd party financing and failed to take care of the problems! I know others that used to do business here as well, they have had similar issues! Please if you value your hard earned money and time, do not take your vehicle here! Took me a few days to review but this location is the BEST. Looking for a family-run auto care center that focuses on honesty and integrity? Look no further! The nice woman in the front was VERY knowledgeable on vehicles, and took very good care of me. Not only did I pay a reasonable price for an oil change, but they caught some things that could've caused a critical failure in the future, and fixed it immediately. And the icing on the cake: After I left already a happy customer, they did research on my vehicle to find the best prices for future maintenance and made sure to send it my way. I'd drive 1,000 miles to go to this mechanic again. THAT is how you get repeat customers. For once I didn't feel screwed leaving an auto shop. My car runs like I just drove it off the lot! I called to get an oil change and tire rotation. Kat got me in the same day. I found out tire rotation comes with oil change, so no extra charge. I paid $39.95 for everything, and because I was taking a trip, they checked everything. Great customer service, and because my 2015 Corolla takes synthetic oil, it was $30 cheaper than another place that quoted me a "discount price." I highly recommend. read more

12-4-21 ( Engine Installation ) Engine cost $1,500 / Labor $1,554.79 1-5-22 ( Remove & Replace Oil Pan Gasket ) Parts & Labor $320.99 (Received Refund) They had my vehicle for 3 days After I received my vehicle back, it still had an oil leak. Took it to the Brake Masters on Southern Ave & was told it was a rear main seal. I was told by 3 different mechanics, at 3 different businesses & the shop the engine was purchased from that a "good" mechanic" automatically knows to replace both the rear main seal & oil pan gasket on a used engine before installation. Took vehicle to Midas on Alma School Rd where work was done on 1-20-22. Still had oil leak. Took vehicle back to Midas on 1-31-21 where they diagnosed timing cover gasket was pinched on the lower part of the gasket against oil pan gasket causing bending on the lower portion. And the metal on the timing cover gasket got detached causing oil leak. They also replaced the oil pan gasket with a new one & said the one on it was not new. Pics show oil pan gasket & blue gel sealant on timing cover gasket that was removed at Midas. I was told whoever installed my engine did not know what they were doing. Serpentine belt also had to be replaced because that was rubbing on something it shouldn't have been rubbing on. I would think for what I paid in parts & labor that this place would have the professionalism & knowledge to insure my engine was installed & maintained properly. I think the problem here is they are over booked & rush jobs to have a quicker turnover. Scam Alert: AVOID at all costs. I went here to have my brakes ABS system checked. An elderly woman in the lobby was being charged more than $200 for an O2 sensor. This is a $30 item and labor was extra. Her late husband had been a nechanic and her son was a machinist. She called him and he was emphatic that she was being overcharged. She lamented to me that she had already agreed to the repair and that she felt taken advantage of, as she was an elderly woman on her own. As I sat there watching, a man came into the lobby and told her she needed new tires, as they were "deteriorated" and that she also new struts, that they were shot and were the reason her tires had worn out prematurely. It was clear to me that her suspicion was quite valid. She told me after she dismissed him that her struts and tires had been replaced just this past winter. I was appalled. As for my car, they did a free inspection of practically everything BUT the ABS system, and said that this was due to the year 1994 not having OBD2 ports. Well the man who made my appointment knew that when he set the appointment. Everybody knows that cars before 1996 are OBD1. So why would he tell me they would check my ABS system when he, a longtime professional mechanic, knows that a 1994 vehicle is OBD1 and they dont work with that. (And why not diagnose obd1 vehicles?) So the bottom line: knowing that they could or would not work with OBD1 vehicles, why tell me they would check my ABS?? Well... they used that to lure me in, and try to sell me other crap I don't need with a big inpection of everything BUT my ABS, the only thing I needed checked. Example 1: I was told my air filter was dirty and needed replacing. But I had just replaced it a few weeks ago. When I got home I pulled it out and inspected it. Clean as a whistle. Example 2: I had a pcv valve getting old and had some residual seepage around the grommet. Standard fair on mopar small block V8 engines. They told me I needed new valve cover gaskets! If that had been the case, oil would be leaking down onto my cylinder heads and burning. It wasn't. Oil on top of your valve cover comes from a pcv valve or breather element. I once had another shop try that on me too. Example number 3: they said my brake master cylinder was out of fluid, keaking, and in need if replacement... they wanted about $480 some dollars to replace it. I had it replaced a couple years ago. Its never leaked, I don't experience pedal fade, and when I checked it the fluid reservoir was FULL. I get no sinking brake pedal. Example #4: I recently changed the fluid in my rear differential. Its a Chrysler 8.25 with the push in rubber plug, designed to allow seepage under high tdmperatures and high rpm's. It has the usual seepage from the plug, leaving some residue on the diff cover. But once again, I was lied to. I was told that the differential gasket had failed and the rear axle was leaking badly. So to recap: they lured me in with an agreement to look at my ABS system, only to turn it into a big inspection of just about everything BUT my ABS system. So that never even got checked, but I wasted 2 hours of my life only to be given an estimate for over $1,000 worth of "work" on stuff I didnt even need. Gentle reminder, everybody knows that cars before 1996 use OBD1. So they knew when they told me rhey would check it that they were LYING, and booked my appointment in an attempt to make money off of me by trying to sell me "repairs" I never needed. This business is dishonest, deceptive, fraudelent and disgusting. A downright SCAM shop that preys on the vulnerable and those unlearned in auto mechanics, repaires and automotive ripoff scams. Remember, Im not just speaking for myself: they were scamming an elderly old woman in an epic way, tring to sell her tires and struts she just had replaced less than a year ago. As for my quotes ans estimates, I have it all in writing. I can prove it all. My review: Avoid at all costs. read more

My truck had 3 problems: 1. wobbling on the front (tires are brand new all four) 2. Cloacking noise upon taken off or stopping 3.Break light flashing on dash board So I took it to Break Masters and left it there for a diagnostic and they give it to me on writing. Control arms upper and lower Both sides Over $2,000.00 When they were done the truck was still the same and nothing had been fixed, they took my truck to "another sister shop" according to them and the drive shaft or something was the reason for the cloacking noise. So it got fixed there. Why did I pay these people for all those front end parts? I took my truck to a different Auto shop for the wobbling and they didn't want to do anything to it because the front end parts were installed wrong. They pointed out to me *no grease on/in any of the 4 mechanic parts that needed to be lubricated before installation * Parts missing on right side upper arm *Plate/cover missing on right side lower arm *Loose fitting on left side upper arm Is this a good job? The people that work there are great, but I'm a little irritated that the last time I purchased a battery there, I wasn't charged to have them put it in for me. The last time I went in last week to have to same thing done, I was charged $30 for the install. $30?! Are you serious? I guess the store was bought by corporate recently, and the new head manager is doing everything he can to get the most money possible. That is not the way to keep customers coming back. I would be leaving a one star review if not for the fact Steve has been so helpful in the past and honest. Ever since I had moved here to Apache Junction from Phoenix Arizona, I have been looking for an honest and reliable mechanic shop. I have tried a few local shops and am very disappointed with them. I even went to Gilbert Arizona to try a Big O Tires and I was ripped off on an oil change. They never changed my oil. I only found out on my way to MN in KS when my engine light came on. My oil was low. Just imagine that. I was just about lost all faith until I met John and his team at Brake Masters. Great guys! Very honest and easy to work with. After having an oil change at a major competitor and having a horrible experience. The competitor, referred from here forward as PB , after returning with a major leak to PB only to be told I needed $1100.00 plus in repairs (check my other reviews for the whole long story), I declined and asked for my vehicle back. Next day I took the vehicle to this Brake Masters location and told the service writer of the issue. 10 minutes later, he came back and told me the issue was a loose oil filter.... They tightened the filter, topped up the oil, and said "NO CHARGE". BAMMM, they have my business from here out. Go see the team at this Brake Masters location, I will. read more

I went in with my F-150 4WD because the front end felt different than a few months ago. My wheels were just balanced but still I thought I felt something in the steering and road handling. These guys took the truck for a test drive, examined the front end suspension, etc, checked alignment and found all fine. THEN, I was charged Nothing! What a great thing to know that even tho they could have sold me some service I didn't need, they didn't. I was very relieved that the truck was sound, and Pete the assistant manager there was just great. They are now my go-to truck place. And as a woman, it's nice to have a place to trust. I took my Nissan Murano in to get the brakes done. These guys are great . They informed me that my brake pads were still good and it was my rotor that was the issue . They gave me the choice to fix just the rotor or do the brakes and rotor . Being a female I'm used to mechanics just trying to pull one over on me but these guys are different . This is the place to go if you want honesty and good prices. Really! My husband and I had taken our Nissan Cube to the dealer for a fuel sensor issue, well a day later they give us an estimate for over $1100! This included front brakes which they said were almost gone. Well we decided to take it here. They have a free brake inspection and we do not need brakes! We have 60% left. We'll be taking our cars here from now on. Also they can do the fuel sensor for soo much less. Thank you. read more

I don't know why this is saying I am in San Francisco, CA I am not, I'm in Apache Junction, AZ. I went in for an oil change to the shop at 11140 E Apache Trail in Apache Junction, AZ 85120. Was told my radiator is leaking at the top. Never noticed any leakage and NEVER EVER had any temp problem. Within 3 miles of the shop the temp gauge was in the RED HOT ZONE! Went back wondering what did they do to cause this, denials all around. Got it home checked the radiator SOMEONE THERE HAD DRAINED IT DRY! They tried to take advantage of this elderly woman with a $500 radiator replacement. Ladies BEWARE! read more

Aligned my husband's car knowing that they shouldn't have since they knew he needed new cv axles. Fixed the cv axles along with camber kit and lower arm controls brought it back to them to align and they were going to charge Half the price to align it again but in the end couldn't get it aligned didn't charge him so we Took the car to Nissan and BAM my husband's car is aligned and working great again! People were nice but i will never trust them working on our vehicles again! read more

I highly recommend this shop, the manager Steve is a stand up guy. We have been bringing our vehicles here for at least 10 years, for basic maintenance up to major repairs. They have never tried to rip us off and have always done excellent work, I have never had to bring a vehicle back to get re-repaired like I have at the dealer. My daughter recently got ripped off by a grown man she spent a large chunk of college money she has worked for and saved on a vehicle with numerous problems, she brought it up to have them take a look, they found all of the issues and are repairing it this weekend for much less than any other shop would. They take care of their customers here. The right management under Steve is why I will always come back. They are not out to make a buck off of unnecessary repairs. When Tony and his wife ran business it was fine, I was a customer for 10 years now its run by corporate. I had a little overheating problem the Nissan Frontier was under warranty on the engine they installed back in Sept. of last year, I could not leave with vehicle after paying it was only running on 5 cylinders instead of 6 after paying 2200 dollars and they don't think their anyway responsible. I took my 2007 Kia Sportage to Brake Masters located at 11140 E. Apache Trail, Apache Junction, AZ 85120 (480-588-2441) on June 13th thru the 16th. I had them replace, all hoses, belts, radiator flush, check A/C, replace back brakes, and check A/C. The first day I get my vehicle back, I pull the emergency brake and my car starts to roll backwards. I called them and they said they may not of tightened the brakes enough after replacing. The next day my A/C was not blowing cold air so I called and brought it back in and they said I'm real sorry but we forgot to check your air conditioning. The third day after all this my car started to squeal when I would shift from first gear all the way to fourth gear. I called again and brought it back in and they said We tightened the belt so you should be good but it is an after market air conditioning unit so the belt will come loose again and squeal again. The belt came loose again 2 days after that. This entire time I had a rental car because they took a while to fix everything on my car and then I had to bring it back multiple times. I spoke to Steve Weiss (Apache Jct. Store Manager) to find a solution. Since then I have called and asked for a refund several times of some sorts and they sent me to the corporate number to talk with Timothy Harphant (520-512-000 ext 7560). I spoke with him today and his attitude was to bring it back in or we will not get any help whats so ever. I asked him about a refund and he became very irritated. I handed my phone to my husband to talk with him and my husband explained that we have given them multiple chances to fix it and the AJ store said there is nothing more they can do. Timothy had no customer service with my husband and kept cutting him off. So, my husband Cody, said we will take this to small claims court and Channel 3 News. Timothy dared him to and said do it, go ahead, you will loose. I dare you to sue us it won't happen. Then Timothy just said bye and hung up on my husband with no solutions or help of any kind. We have already filed complaints with the BBB and Channel 3 on my side and the Courts. Just FYI if they mess anything up don't expect them to fix it read more

I have been coming to this Brake Master's for over 8 years. Previously, they had done great work on my vehicles and I recommended them to friends and family. Now, they have been "bought out" by a corporate entity according to their manager and no longer have any qualified mechanics. I made the mistake of having my wife come here for her car and they have done such poor work that the car has a multitude of problems now that it did not have before. They will not refund any money, discount anything, or even offer a rental vehicle when they keep your car for 5 days from their own mistakes. Have had multiple chances to fix the vehicle and will not. The District Manager DARED me to sue them in small claims court. He has absolutely no customer service skills and is directly rude and offers no solutions, only excuses. Unless you want your car broken, your time wasted and your money lost then avoid this company at all costs. Save yourself the headache. read more
