The quality of service received from Jordan and his fellow team members was exceptional. I would give negative stars if I could. This company is atrocious. First off first guy I met LIED to my face "we don't make commission". Okay pal. And then there was the fact I brought my car in for a check engine light. They said it was transmission related dirty & low fluid. They showed me I needed struts replaced and 2 axels replaced. That was $3000.. I was not prepared. So anyway I believe this car is important so I shoot for it. Two goddamn days later my check engine comes on again. So I call "hey I spent $3000 fixing my car at this location can you look into it & make sure it isn't your guys fault?" They said they could but for even more money. Wow guys, your freaking ceiling is nasty & you had NO HANDSOAP in the men's washroom for TWO DAYS. But you can just keep rippin money out of the customers hand like it ain't nothin. We brought our son's car in yesterday to get his break pads changed, flush the break fluid and resurface the rotors. Louie and the guys did such a great job at a reasonable price and in a timely manner that we are back again today. We called first thing in the morning to see if we could bring the car back in to get the oil change and tires rotated. Robert said to bring it right in and they were able to start on the car within 15 mins. Living all the way in Hawaii we thought we would take it to a nationally known company like Firestone on our trip out here early November to have all the above worked on for $1,600.00+. Not even a month later our son said the breaks were still making noise and the car was shaking when driving on the freeway. We told him to take it back to Firestone and they asked him if he drove the car across country since he brought the car in. When he said he had not they gave him a list of things that needed to be fixed. He immediately call my husband to let them know what they said and my husband being a mechanic knew they were making things up since the things that they blamed needed to be changed were not due to be changed for 5+ more years. When our son told the mechanic that his dad said they were not due be changed yet, he said how does your dad know? So our son said "my dad is a mechanic". We told our son to tell them to take the car off the lift and get out of there right away. Now we are back 7 months later trying to get the same thing actually fixed. Our initial mistake was not actually checking to see if Firestone did what we paid them to do before we left. But I am pleased to report that Break Masters at 6055 E. Southern in Mesa, AZ is an HONEST establishment with great, fast mechanics with reasonable prices. I highly recommend them if you child is going to college in AZ. I have been using this location for oil changes and needed services for my car for about 3 yrs. Always had good service. Today, while getting my regular oil change I requested that they also install a new bulb in my head light. I had already purchased the bulb, but did not want to mess with it. I had bulbs replaced in the past, and knew it was pretty simple. I admit, I had hoped that they would throw in this service to a regular customer. They came back with a $42 price for what should have been a 5 min job. Said something about having to pull the headlight. I do not believe they were trying to cheat me, I just think the person who was asked to do the job did not know the correct way to do it. read more

I took my truck in to have a wheel alignment TONY a tec did the alignment in the process he broke 2 of my wheel spokes and never said anything. I didn't realize it until 2 days later when I was washing my truck. I took it back it was fixed. When I spoke to Robert the manager the one you see in the photo he was EXTREME rude and said well it was fixed wasn't it. After a very lousy experience where I attempted to save money and got my car worked on by a mechanic that didn't speak English and continued to come up with things that were wrong w/my car w/o fixing the original thing that had been the issue to begin with I finally decided to stop in here to have them do a check on the brakes after my garage was covered in brake fluid and my brakes were super soft. Luis was a huge help and I was taken great care of! I realize now that I should've came here to begin with! I could have avoided the unnecessary aggravation that going to someone that doesn't know what they are doing causes. Even though Brake Masters gets busy and you might have to wait a while that sure the heck beats having to deal with having your car screwed up by an idiot like I did before going here. Today I brought my truck in for oil change like normal. They asked if I wanted tires rotated and I said sure. Fast forward to leaving and the older gentleman checking me out was extremely rude and short with me but whatever my truck was done. I get in my truck and all my tires sensors are off since they rotated the tires. I pulled by a stall and the mechanic told me they don't have a sensor to fix that. Why would you offer a service you can't do properly. Now I have to take my truck somewhere else to get the sensors reset. Very unhappy read more

I recently took my vehicle to Brake Masters on Southern near Superstition Mall. I was promptly greeted by Louie ( Ass"t Manager) who listened to my brake problem, asked a few clarifying questions and told me they would need 20-25 questions to complete their examination of my vehicle. In about 20 minutes Robert (store manager) was back with their detailed recommendation including cost and time needed for repair. All started with the front man at the counter, dude was pokite and worked with me although i didnt have an appointment and u know car shops r busy on Saturdays. The manager was cool and spent a lot of time in the bay working with his crew, definitely a good sign. They spent some good time working on my car, fixed a problem and identified a new one. Normally I get a good honest diagnosis if I have an issue. Once I even purchased the part needing replacement and they took out the old and installed the part I brought in with me. This recent time however I unfortunately cannot say the same. Long story short, my Truck overheated so I managed to get it to this location. They checked for a coolant leak. About 30 minutes later I get a call back saying they needed to change the upper and lower radiator hoses and do a radiator flush. Total price $750! Too rich for my blood. 7/16/16 Update - After they told me their price, I told them not to do any work on it, that I'd come pick it back up. I got it home. Called a Mobile Mechanic who came to me. I changed the front brakes on my daughter car (Mary Cartwright) in early May 2021. When I pulled wheel on the rear I found drum brakes. I asked my daughter to take it to a brake shop because I didn't want to change drum Brakes. She saw an ad on the internet for $148 from Brake Masters #184 in Mesa near her home. I suggested taking the car there. She did and left it for an estimate which came back at close to $1000. I understand that prices can go up based on the mechanics estimate but I told her to pick up the car and bring it here and I would do it. The car was working fine after installing the front brakes with solid brake feel. I work when she took it to Brake Masters #184. She sent her husband to pick up the car. Her husband went to pick up the car and was told it was unsafe. He called my daughter and she said it was fine when she took it in and to pick it up and bring it home and she would take it to me. Her husband told the shop he would take it home and they said it wasn't safe to drive. He said it worked before and he wanted to get it home. The said they would have to put it back together and he could take it. They didn't say what they had done. They had taken the wheel and hub off and removed all brake components including all springs and fasteners and then put the hub on and then the wheel. It looked ok but the first time the brake was pressed the wheel cylinder blew and leaving the car with no hydraulics. It's a wonder he didn't wreck and kill himself or some other person. H got it home but I don't know how. I had the car towed to me to see what could have gone wrong. Boy was I shocked when I pulled the wheel and drum and saw absolutely nothing but the wheel cylinder and piston rolling around the hub. I had a certified mechanic look at it and he said he had never seen anything like it before. He said they probably took all the brake parts out to insure that they could get the inflated business. It is a fraud and they are probably sticking it to other customers. By the way, they also said it needed front brakes and a power booster. When told they were just done a week ago they went back and looked and adjusted the estimate. Their response: That we were told it was unsafe but gave no reason. I explained that the driver or someone could have been killed but they said he should have had it towed. If we knew that there was no brakes in the car, I would have agreed had it towed and asked for the parts back so I could have reused the springs if they were still good Brake Masters #184 tried to scam us and take advantage of my daughter and were reckless and may have been criminally libel for letting the car be driven off without brakes. read more

My rear brakes needed to be replaced and also my calipers and rotors. I was quoted a price of 750.00 dollars, I didn't have the money and explained that I was going to the shop around. At that point it seemed that the shop supervisor caught an attitude. Made an appointment for ten am, got there at 9:30, They didn't even bring my car back until 11:45, Then waited ANOTHER 2 hours to change the brakes. Now I am no machanic, however I have changed brakes before and it never took 2 hours. I think they make you wait a long time just so when they give you the outrageous quote, you figure you've already spent a half day here. I drive an old '94 Jeep Wrangler that has well over 200K miles and still going strong because I keep up on maintence with quality parts and since I am a former professional mechanic I do all the work myself. About a week ago I had my tires rotated and noticed my rear brakes were soaked in oil, I needed my brakes replaced right away but I work night shift and didn't have time to do it for another few days so a quick search showed Brake Masters was the closest to my location but closed in less then an hour. I called and explained what I needed done and they told me to bring it in and they would stay late to get it fixed. I got there at about 5pm and they got my Jeep right in and started checking out what needed done, they close at 5:30 and would have stayed late to get the repairs done but my brake drums they couldn't get until the next day so I opted to leave it overnight and had them replace the rear wheel bearings, seals, brakes,drums, and oil change. They had all the repairs done by 11am the next morning and I couldn't be happier with the service. I am very selective who I let work on my Jeep and these guys, at this shop have earned my future business for all of my vehicles. read more

About four months ago I bought a used Jeep Grand Cherokee for offloading in the Arizona desert. The Jeep needed new brakes, new CV joints, and fresh fluids in the transmission, transfer case and differentials. I went to Brake Masters and had them do all of this work at one time. Three months later, when I had the Jeep on a lift to run down a noise, I noticed that one of the CV joints was already ruined -- incorrect installation. I took it back and had the repair made. Then I learned that they had used regular transmission oil in the transfer case rather than the oil specifically required by Chrysler. So I had to that done over as well, only this time I took it to the dealer to make sure there were no more mistakes. Finally, when they flushed the transmission they didn't bother to replace the filter. WTF! My take on Brake Masters is this: Stay away! Aside from working on brakes, these guys are essentially incompetent. I'm updating my negative review to average. I contacted their district manager about my complaints and he took care of everything. Impressive, actually. Still not sure if I would go back, but my previous bad review needs to be modified. read more

I took our vehicles here for a few years for oil changes, brakes, etc. My last experience, however, ended that relationship and trust. No longer will we take any of our vehicles there, no matter how simplistic the job. And i make sure my friends know not to use them as well. I took my F-150 in for a tune-up. Something I thought would be routine and an easy job for someone who does this type of job routinely, turned out to be a nightmare. Of the 8 spark plugs they removed, they broke 6 of them off in the head, which required a special tool (and apparently, none of their staff were qualified, as they had to have a third party provider do the work. One is bad enough, but six is just pure carelessness. If that wasn't bad enough, they charged "ME" to have them extracted. This seemed very unreasonable to me, since I'm not the one who broke them in the first place. I just had my oil changed, by someone else, and the drain plug was found to be cross threaded. In addition, the oil filter was so tight that removal was very difficult. Brake Masters did my last oil change... icing on the not so tasty cake. I would not recommend this shop to anyone! read more

The worst experience I ever had!! When they say 1/2 an hr, they mean 1.5 hrs Just for a a quote! They recommend unnecessary work, and they have the worst customer service. The guy at the front desk, Straighten up your attitude!!! And learn more about customer service. I'm not stupid, I went to this place a second time(my second mistake), to get an honest opinion, and I get taken advantage of. This guy tells me I need my rotors turned and a brake pad replacement. guess what?! They turned my rotors less than a year ago. So i did the job myself, and it costed me 60 bucks!!! Saved myself 300.00 dollars.The reason why I went there, was because I had no time. I'm mechanically inclined, so I'm not going to get screwed, so I did it myself. I had taken my 2003 Camry to a different shop for estimates that took three days and an estimated cost of $4400 with a long list of immediate issues. I took my car the next day to Brake Masters on Southern Rd in Mesa. Within an hour, I had confirmation of my car only needing two rear brakes (no new master cylinder as quoted by someone else), new oil and lube, new timing belt and water pump for half the cost previously estimated by other company. I saved $3500 by going to Brake Masters. They were courteous, helpful, honest, and gave a lifetime warranty on parts with a 12-month or 12,000 mike Warranty on labor. Wow the quality of this place has declined tremendously. I was a regular customer to this place. That was until I realized I was paying extra for the 21 pt inspections for nothing in return. This place used to provide sheets detailing that inspections were done. I'll admit I'm not an automotive expert, but I do work in the industry. I'm aware of these mechanics taking advantage over customers who lack sufficient knowledge about vehicles. To test this place, I had purposely drained my power steering fluid on TWO, not one, separate occasions and even mentioned at the store that I was having steering issues. You would think the "21 pt inspections" would include refilling of fluids right? Well at this place, that's a ploy to drive up sales. P/S fluid was never added and I guarantee that nothing was even looked at besides the oil being replaced. With this level of service, I'd expect Robert (the manager) to have quality control over his services. If you even think of visiting this place, look elsewhere. This is another shop that will deceive and take advantage of customers. What a great business structure you've got there Robert. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the purpose of this business is to service vehicles. I suppose their perception of service or business for that matter is to nickel and dime their customers while not performing what's paid for. Great job Robert! read more
