When I arrived and entered the store, the Assistant Manager, Kenny, addressed me by my name! I asked, "How did you....?" then laughed when he said he referenced my license plate when he saw me drive up! Unexpected, courteous, professional, on point service! I came in here today when my brake light indicator came on. I was mentally preparing for the worst but after inspection, turns out the malfunction was a brake pad sensor that burned due to excessive heat. I went to a local car dealer and they informed us that our brakes were low, recommending us to get new brakes. Went to Brake Masters and they informed us that our brakes were still good for 6-8 months. They lifted our car up and inspected our brakes, free of charge. Let me just start by telling you all that I live nearly 15 miles from this Brake masters. There are no less than 4 Brake Masters within a 5-8 mile radius from my house. As a female needing car repair I am always weary of being duped so I tend to rely on reviews to help me decide where to take my admittedly aging van. All the reviews for this location were excellent so I decide to make the trip. From the first phone call when I asked if they would have time to check my brakes the gentleman on the phone was already confirming the good reviews. Upbeat phone voice, excellent customer service, even though appointments were booked he assured me I could get same day service on a Saturday!!! . I was sold! Loaded up the kids and headed that way. The positive experience continued as the gentleman at the counter checked us in. Both guys at the counter were great! I enjoyed a confident, customer oriented interaction at every step which is very much appreciated and puts me at ease. We came prepared for a wait...because let's face it...if you expect to get any sort of anything done same day on a Saturday you are gonna have to be patient. Especially if you are on "walk in" status. Not much in the immediate area but just a 20 min walk down the road we found a dollar store and multiple restaurants. After a couple hours i got the news...only front brakes and only $130!!!!! Woo hoo! Another hour after that and we were on our way! I brought my van in for a tune up and when they did it said everything was good with it no leaks or anything else wrong. After taking it to this place I've had nothing but problems with my van from oil being in my water pump which they so call fixed twice to no avail and my van overheated and blew the motor. I called them and told them and they insisted I bring it in again . HA. Would you? I long ago found a shop way more reasonable and efficient shop who I ended up giving 3000 to fix the issue and that's oppose to taking it back where I have a warranty and could get it done. I always go here to do my oil changes, they always let u know of other problems,very nice and helpful, I got an oil change yesterday and after failing a smog check for a screw on the air cabin I went back to see if maybe they lost the screw when they did the oil change, which even though they don't fix things when u fail a smog, they found the screw and fixed it for me for free, and also recommended a good smog check place across the street for my retest. You wrote a review for Brake Masters 23 hours ago 1/20/2018 I had really great service the first time that I took our car to this place, which was my reason for returning. The employees who I dealt with were obviously the reason why this place was successful, while other Brake Masters facilities closed their doors. The price as also consistent with another Brake Masters where I had both of my mom's cars worked on and my car also. But that was with other employees. Brake Masters was known for helping people, not just us, with minor work like the one needed for my mom's cars. They were known for helping the community this way. It was time to have some minor service to one of my mom's cars. Based on how great the service was with the employees that were here the last time, I decided to return. I made an online appointment the previous day. On the morning of the appointment, I called to make sure that the appointment was ok. I was told that the appointment was ok and to bring in the car. I asked the man who answered the phone about the work that would be done to my mom's car. I had placed the type of service in the notes for the online appointment. I explained to the employee that I spoke with that it would be a drain and fill for the transmission with me providing the oem oil from the dealer and having the brake fluid replaced also. I had the transmission serviced for my mom's other car here just a few months ago for $20 for the drain and fill. I also wanted the break fluid replaced, but the employee back then told me that the car did not need it because it was a 2015 and the maintenance for it is with higher mileage than the older cars. Brake Master had such awesome employees in the past. For those who think that it's difficult for a transmission service, all they do is drain the fluid similar to draining the engine oil, then refilling it with new transmission oil. It only takes about 15 minutes to do the work. Modern cars have been made far better, easier to work on for the regular service needs, easier to diagnose, and the service for common things like the transmission fluid, oil changes, brakes, and wiper blades so much easier to do thanks to the electronics. I was quoted about $76 for both the drain and fill for the transmission and to replace the brake fluid for the car. It was more expensive than a few months ago and I figured that prices were raised because of minimum wage going up to $11 an hour. When I got there, I suddenly got a bad feeling from the employees upon entering. I was observing their nonverbal communication and my education and training took over in assessing the situation; most mistakenly refer to nonverbal communication as "body language." I entered and informed the two male employees behind the counter that I had an appointment for the auto service. I started getting the run around by one of the employees. One of the employees took over and became rude, but closer to definition of belligerent. Then the employee went to ask the manager how much it would cost to do the drain and fill for the transmission. The employee returned and told me that it would be $99 for just the drain and fill on the transmission. My suspicions about the employees were being proved correct by their own actions. These other employees did not honor the price quoted over the phone when I explained to them that I was quoted $76 when I called and changed the prices of the service after I got there. One of the male employees told me that they could not do it for the $20 as was done in the past. I was already quoted $76 for both services and already knew how much it would cost, thus I already knew that it was a little more expensive. The employee then tried to haggle a new price. I said no and I walked out. My education kicked in and assessed the tactic that the employee was using when he tried to haggled. He started using an unethical use of a controlling form of nonverbal communication, which is under psychology. Even the Dealer knows how easy changing the oil on the transmission for our cars actually is. You take the bolt out to drain the oil, replace the bolt to the right torque, then refill the transmission with oil, which in this case was 2.9 quarts. Some people are not mechanically inclined and are at the mercy of auto mechanics doing the work on their cars. If the cars were a different brand, or needed to have the transmission filter changed, then that would be something different and costlier, thankfully my mom's cars do not need that and all they need is to have 2.9 quarts of transmission fluid changed, and that is less and easier than a basic oil change. Sacramento County changed their laws about doing minor car work, therefore, I have to find a do-it-yourself garage or pay labor. If other customers got great service and were charged what they quoted, then I did not. read more
