I have been going to the Brakes Plus in Highlands Ranch for years due to the great service and wonderful employees. The manager, Randy, is always very helpful and takes the time to explain what is needed sooner and what can wait for service when funds are tight. The prices are usually less than half the prices at the car dealership, and I know the work will be done right by the folks at this location. This week I had to take my Mom's car in for an oil change and some unknown problems. We have had a rodent issue in Littleton and they got into the engine area and destroyed all the wiring. It looked like a huge issue that was going to be really costly. Colton, the mechanic, went above and beyond by finding a rather expensive (and no longer manufactured) part for me from a junk yard saving quite a bit of money, picked it up on his lunch break and got the car working far sooner than I had expected. Got an alignment 3 months ago and I noticed that my tires were all worn out on the inside so I googled it and the internet consensus said it was either that the camber or the toe was off. Also the van had developed a shake around 65mph. Needless to say not happy (brand new tires). So I called and brought the minivan down and informed them of the problems. They couldn't get right to it so I took an uber home, then a uber back a couple hours later.They did re-align the tires, but they're worn now. Brian at the desk said I'd probably hit a pothole. Way to cover your bases. No mention was made of the shake, only how swamped they were that day. I asked them to rotate the tires but Brian said they couldn't because Discount tire said so. Turns out Discount tire has last say on all tire matters at brakes plus. Supposedly my back tires were too worn to be put on front. I go home and rotate them myself. Turns out the back tire has MORE tread than the front. Still got the shake. I go to Big O tires on Sante Fe in Highlands Ranch to see if they will balance them. The kid they send out to look the car over claims they're too worn to balance. Nota bene, these tires have 10k on them aside from the inner edge being somewhat worn down from what I suspect was a crummy alignment at Brakes Plus in the first place. I get in the car and leave in the middle of the kid's speil to try to sell me new tires. I go to Jose Tire shop on Broadway, where I wait exactly no minutes and for 35$ Jose balances and rotates all four tires, plus notices that there's mud buildup on the inside of the wheel that is probably causing the shake. Why am I bothering to write this? I'm fed up. Fed up with Grease Monkey who couldn't be bothered to wipe up oil they slopped all over my engine which left a stain on my driveway and worse, made me waste time the next day driving back to their shop to make sure they hadn't forgotten to tighten the oil filter. Fed up with Shomp Honda who misdiagnosed an alignment issue on my Odyssey and cost me $800 and fixed nothing. "Master Techs" there tried to cure the van from pulling to the right by installing some aftermarket nonsense on the REAR axle. Another shop in the ranch who will remain nameless because they're nice folks, but just the same, cost me thousands trying ineffectively trying to fix a problem, then left out a seal that caused all the fluid to drain out of my brand new $4,000 oem transmission. (Yesterday they left the lug nuts loose on my son's truck and wrecked the wheel, the studs, the lugs and almost caused a actual wreck.) The Jaguar dealer on Broadway once again attacked the REAR of the car ($400) to try to fix what turned out to be a ball joint problem (this one I figured out and fixed myself). Meinicke muffler in Englewood gave me a $2500 estimate to fix a vibration problem I was having with a Volvo. A mobile mechanic came and replaced a transmission bushing for $50 that was causing the problem. Nowhere on the Meinicke estimate sheet was this bushing mentioned. Most of these chains and dealers have little to no interest in solving your problem. What they want is fast turnover and to extract as much cash from you while doing as little as possible. Find a local specialist with a good rep and stick with him or buy some tools. read more

I toa pickup I to this business in December for a brake inspection. A call from their manager advised the front brakes required replacement. I authorized repair as a general up sell they offered to do other works most of which I declined. They left the air filter disconnected and did work I did not authorize. Nonetheless I paid for the works. Some 3 months later and around 6,000 miles the brakes failed. Metal to metal. It cost $694.77 to repair in addition to paying for staff to take the vehicle in for repair on a Sunday. Contacting brakes plus they deny liability and offered $99.00. Obviously, there is a difference of almost $600.00 I'm put just on the direct repair cost. I've decided to take legal action against Brakes Plus. Brakes should last much more than 3 months and 6000 miles. My experience with this business and their evasive attitude leaves a lot to be desired. Standby for updates on the court case!!!! As you can see Brakes Plus asked I contact them. I did and they ignored my response. Terrible service from a terrible money grabbing company. Expect the worst from Brakes Plus. read more

These guys looked at my car and told me a long story about what was supposedly wrong and how they would fix it. A week later and about $300 poorer, the problem they'd claimed to fix was back. Took my car into another (actual) mechanic. What he said was wrong with my breaks was completely different from Brakes Plus. A couple months after the new mechanic worked on my car, problem still gone. I know I didn't give these guys a chance to make their mistake right. I don't know if they would have refunded my money for their bunk work (probably not) or taken another shot at it for free. Either way, I don't want to bring my car into any place that claims to be an expert in one thing, but gets that one thing completely wrong. read more

They took full responsibility for a mistake that I later found out was not even their fault, provided me with a rental car, and made sure that I fully understood the issue at no cost. Absolutely the worst oil change I have ever experienced. They changed the type of oil that goes in the vehicle without even asking me about it. I realize that they are probably used to pulling the wool over the eyes of some of the housewives that live in the area, but they need to know when someone knows what he is talking about. The whole superior attitude doesn't work in customer service. So after talking to someone at the Corporate office. They still believe that they are right and that I don't know what my car needs. I have been bringing my 2004 Dodge Neon here for regular maintenance for years and have always been treated well. The check engine light came on for the first time recently and we brought it in to be looked at. It needed a new cam shaft sensor. Brakes Plus replaced it within the day for a reasonable price and even installed the new windshield wipers I had been carrying around for months, for no charge. I liked that they evaluated my car and told me I did not need new brakes yet and still had about 60% life left in them. Had excellent experience with the team at Brakes Plus, Jamie was the Service manager and sorted out multiple issues quickly, ended up with new brake pads on the front for less than $80. Performed an oil change or less than $30. Stopped a muffler pipe guard from rattling by applying a clamp, much less than a weld- and no charge. Justin was the cashier- great experience all the way through, believe Mike was mechanic but looks like a competent team all around. Recommend you drop the car so they have time to work it in and do final test drive. read more

My family and I have taken our cars to Brakes Plus on Broadway near Highlands Ranch Parkway for years. With five drivers and even more cars, they have had plenty of business from us. Unfortunately, we will no longer do business with them. A recent experience caught them in a lie with a clear intention not to correct a problem they created and then lied to cover it up. Two other shops verified that what Brakes Plus told us repeatedly was not true and should not have been done. read more

Called Saturday morning for an appt and was told if I could have it there by 10 they could get it done by end of the business day. I dropped it off before 10 and asked to have my brakes and shocks replaced. Got a call late afternoon which I missed; called back 5 min later and was told the tech working on my car was on a test drive but they would have him call me back. Never happened. While driving back to pick up my car before they closed, I called and finally spoke to the tech. He proceeded to tell me everything else that was wrong with my car (which I already knew) and he did not replace my brakes/shocks. Seven hrs my car sat with no work done. Jimmie, the front desk guy reminded me that Ryan had called me and I reminded him that I did call back but Ryan didn't get the message. The point is, I did NOT ask for an assessment on my car, I just wanted my brakes and shocks done. The attitude we received was callous and uncaring. They will never get my business again and I will advise my friends not to frequent this shop. read more

Wow, talk about a surprise! Dropped my vehicle off and I did wait about 3 hours, before I called back in to find out what the 'damage' was; however, they were pretty busy with all bays full when I dropped it off. They called me back within an hour and I spoke with John who was very knowledgeable and advised what the problems were and the estimated expenses. I had to replace my front brake pads, machine the rotors, replace a CV joint and wheel bearing that had come completely lose from the housing (which was the root cause of a noise problem in the wheel well). John also advised that the universal 'serpentine' belt was pretty frayed and would advise it too be replaced (it was factory original on a 2001 Maxima, and I agreed.) At any rate, I approved all the work to be done (which I figured at 3:30 in the afternoon I would need to wait till next morning to pick it up), but they did all the work and had it ready for pickup that evening. Since I didn't have transportation to go pick it up that night, we got the vehicle the next morning, and John advised since he had forgot to include the cost of the brake pads in his estimate, that he would throw them in for free! Wow, a very pleasant surprise, and over the top service! Been there before for service, and will certainly take it back again in the future. Nice job guys...thanks alot! read more

My brother is a mechanic several states away and I've had friends to help out when I need car repairs done but everyone's moved out of state- nice to have someone on my side when I need car repairs done, I travel hundreds of miles on a weekly basis so I need a safe reliable car. Red Flag Alert! I dropped my car off for the 60k manufacturer recommended mileage maintenance inspection and specifically asked to have the brakes checked as they were feeling a little "spongy". Although the mechanic signed off as having completed the "Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, brake lines and hoses and parking brake system" in my maintenance log, the clerk at the front desk, after questioning the mechanic, admitted that they did not inspect the brakes at all! They were too lazy to take off the tires to inspect the brakes as I asked and that the manufacturer recommended, yet recorded that they did a complete brake inspection in my maintenance log. How do you think that made me feel? I will never trust this shop again and will be taking all my cars to Christian Brothers from now on (at the very least they should be honest). I hope this helps someone avoid the shoddy and shady workmanship coming out of this shop. I can forgive an oversight, but not a lie. I have absolutely no faith and trust in this shop. I would recommend that no one use Brakes Plus. Brakes Plus advertises that you will get Quality work and a lifetime warranty which is a total lie. About 2 years ago I used Brakes Plus in Longmont to replace the rear brakes on my 2004 Chevy. Pickup which required the brake pads and rotors on both rear wheels to be replaced. The staff at brakes plus did not inform me that anything else need to be replaced and did not show me the old parts. About two weeks ago I started to hear noise coming from the brakes on my pickup and decided to go to the Brakes Plus in Highlands Ranch and see if the brakes need replaced. The employee there looked up my Lifetime Warranty and said they had a record of the Warranty. After about an hour and a half some other employee came out and started telling me that all my brakes and rotors need replaced, when I mentioned the Warranty he start berating me about not replacing some other parts and told me the Warranty would not cover this. They told me it would be $550.00 to do the job. I told them to put the Pickup back together and I would take it elsewhere. Brakes Plus gives me a sheet of paper that said that I need to replace all FIVE rotor unfortunately I only have FOUR wheels on the pickup. I took my Pickup to one of the Troubleshooters experts and asked him to look at the brakes. He said that only one rotor on the back right wheel need to be replaced, this was one of the Lifetime Warranty repairs by the Brakes Plus in Longmont originally. He ended up doing the job for $250.00 less than Brakes Plus said they could do it for and with a better quality that Brakes Plus could do. In short Brakes Plus will not honor there Warranty and does terrible work on brakes. I will never let them touch one of my autos again. read more
