Wow these guys are fantastic. And they are honest. Love that super hard to find. John in the front was super knowledgeable and helpful and Richard the tech was great. I'm the son of a mechanic so I can smell BS a mile away. Greulich's automotive wanted to charge me over $500 for just my rear brakes. Didn't even check to see if the rotos could be turned. They just said it needs new rotors, they lied. Brakes Plus they were honest said rotors are good and need to be turned, and changed me $277 for everything plus a flush.. This place has really taken a turn for the worse. I used to go here all the time and I absolutely will NOT return. I bought a battery from them that died while still under warranty. They charged me just over $20 to replace the battery that was still under warranty for supplies disposal and labor. What the heck kind of supplies did they even use that were 5.00 extra? Then they told me they couldn't get the kind of battery I had again so they upgraded my battery and I got a better one. FALSE! I looked them up they are exactly the same. They did service on one of my vehicles and recorded the mileage in kilometers instead of miles on the Carfax. Now the Carfax says this car's mileage is higher than it actually is because their employees are too incompetent to check these things, even though it is their job. When I called trying to rectify this situation I was told there was nothing that could be done and the man I spoke with, who said his name was Jason, hung up in my face. So rude and unprofessional. I had an issue with the brakes I had installed and the manager was unwilling to replace the defective product and forced me to spend hundreds more. I had to get corporate involved and they advised the situation was not handled accordingly and they refunded me the excess funds I was charged and even covered an Uber. I can't give 5 stars for this location though as I had to jump through hoops to be treated fairly as a result of jason's poor management. read more

Called ahead they said bring my vehicle in right away this was at 10:00am there was only one other person and one car in the Bay Area. I needed an oil change and alignment. At 1:00 I called to check the status and they said they're just getting to it. 3:00pm I call again nope still haven't got to it so I ask when and how long it'll be he says 2 more hours , ok then we'll come get it. We Get there to pick it up and they're pulling it into a bay and there is absolutely no one else there. Nobody apologized or said anything to me Literally they only thing they did was move my seat and steering wheel. I've been to a brakes plus before but at a different location and they were packed and didn't even come close to keeping my ride for 4.5 hours for new brakes and transmission oil change. I would definitely not recommend unless you don't need your car for a day!! read more

I should've know better than to give this place a 2nd try when they overcharged me for a new radiator back in 2014. These jokers tried to charge me $500 to replace my rear brakes and rotors. Then tried to scare me by advising me not to drive any further and also tried to convince me that the cost is an investment. I took it down the street to Pep Boys who told and showed me that my rotors are in great condition and all I needed was the brake pads for $199 and they gave me a $50 off coupon. They gave me a quote of over five hundred dollars that included new rotors and brake pads for the back brakes. I took It to a mechanic I trust and was told the back brakes still had 75% life and rotors were fine. I ended up paying $189 for job. I had an appointment for a 4-wheel alignment and when I got there the sales associate greeting you at the counter told me he was sorry but there was no way my truck was gonna fit in the bay because of the height of my vehicle, then Dean (Manager) came out and made it fit. This Brakes Plus location gets 5 stars for service. They are the nicest bunch of guys in the auto repair/maintenance industry that I have ever encountered. They don't try to force repairs on you that aren't necessary at the moment and keep it real. They were short handed one day when I scheduled my routine oil change and they asked if they could reschedule and my oil change would be free. I have been very pleased with the service I received here. I called around 8 am because I am traveling to California tomorrow and I wanted a car inspection/ oil change. A gentleman offered to squeeze me in around 10 and my car was done early. He mentioned something about a belt that should be replaced, and I was skeptical. When I showed up here he offered to show me the belt and explained what it did and it looked in very bad shape (I saw it). Took one of my vehicles here for an estimate today. I was a little disheartened to get an estimate higher than the dealership. The attitude of the young man was a bit off putting too as he said, "good luck with that". If that is how they want to do business, so be it. I took my vehicle to another shop (farther from home) for expediency of repair and I am literally paying half the price and getting the vehicle back today after the same diagnosis. I tried this shop as it is very convenient. Convenience aside, I guess their business is so good they can overcharge with a smile on their faces and poor attitudes. I was recommended to brakes plus by a friend. At first I was told I had a thermostat that needed replacement. Later, I was told that was not the fix and it was the water pump. No problem, I understand car issues are hard to diagnose. The problems came there after... After receiving my car about a couple days later I found someone broke a hose fitting on my radiator and tried to super glue it. Looking even more closely, Brakes Plus did not even place the original screws back on my car for items they took off. They used screws they found around the shop... I called and they said they couldn't find the original screws and also admitted breaking the fitting. I was hesitant to bring the car back there but eventually I did. They performed the repair with a fitting I purchased, found the screws, and gave me an oil change for free. I felt a little better about the experience and tipped the guys $40 for being honest. Two days later I find my battery light came on. They did not place the serpentine belt correctly and it shredded leaving me stranded about 50 miles from home. When I called them to tell them about what happened I was told to tow the vehicle there. I stated it was due to their work and that they should tow the vehicle. After going back and forth with a service rep, I just lost it. I had to pay a $120 towing bill and $90 to get the belt replaced somewhere else due to their poor workmanship and service. Took my car in on Monday and Jesus told that EVERY brake pad on my car was bad and they need to be replaced and also new brake hardware replaced. He quoted almost $700 dollars, I told him I would talk to my husband and call back. We decided to get a second opinion from my moms family mechanic. I called back and let them know we wanted a second opinion where he was asking if it was a money issue or why we didn't want to just fix it there. I replied and told him we just wanted a second opinion. When I went to pick up my car, Jesus proceeded to tell me that he could do the fix for $200. How did it go from $700 to $200 just from saying I wanted a second opinion? I declined and stuck to my guns to taking it somewhere else. Sure enough the next day I bring it to a family mechanic and he gives me a call and let's me know front brakes are in perfect condition and back only needs to be replaced. Which would cost $180... still cheaper than the second pricing. Just be cautious, looking like I'm not the only one they tried to over charge for fixes that didn't need to be done... read more

87 year old 2 time VN vet, I had these guys do a brake job. This turned out OK except they told me the wheel bearings were bad and charges me $800.00. Then told me they could fix all the oil leaks on my 1976 450SL mercedes . Well they took me for $3900.00. 2 weeks later, when I picked it up, I had to take it back because it still leaked, they told me to leave it and it would be ready in 5 days. 35 days later they call and said it was done and it would be another $1300.00. They even said they were going to wash it because he was such a good customer. When I got there, the city was almost ready to haul it off because they parked it in the street at a RED curb. And it was not washed. Got it home, well almost, you see I had filled the tank 2 days before I took it back in. Now it was bone dry. Cost me $50.00 to fill tank again. This guy, Kevin Goward @ Brakes Plus 18415 N 35th Ave Phoenix. 602 298-1516 Even told me that he had taken the car to Attwood Auto shop on 7th street in Phoenix, because that was a place that worked on mercedes cars. Said they paid them $2000.00 to tune it up for him. Its listed on my invoice but not the cost as I was only charged $1300 the 2nd time. Now it misses more than ever. They had removed all the color coded mercedes vacuum lines and installed standard black lines. Major problem is that 2 lines were not connected at all. Then I found where they connected a vacuum line to the window washer bottle( it is electric )sucking all the washer fluid into the engine. Checking my books, almost all these lines are connected in the wrong place. this would explain why it does not run very well. It ran fine when I took it in and they were to JUST FIX THE OIL LEAKS. So after most of $6000, they tell me to take it to that Attwood shop where they said they paid him $2000.00. Just went to brake plus on 35th ave union hill in Phoenix for a redo of alignment done by another brake plus on the westside in surprise. I spoke to Tom @ brake plus on Union Hills 35th Avenue over the phone explained to Tom on my frustration of alignment work done to my vehicle by another brake plus in surprise that caused my vehicle to slip toward the right even after the alignment was done. Tom got me in right away and have one of his employee name Wilmar test drive with me. I explained my issue with the vehicle to Tom, immediately Tom told me he will try switch the tires from front to back first before test driving. Afterward, he have me test drive the vehicle and sure enough that was all it take to fix my issue. Tom and Wil even go further to double check my alignment toe setting and making sure I am happy with the work. Now my vehicle worked like a charm no drifting right or left on the road any longer. I would recommend this place to anyone who lost trust in humanity trust worthy and give this place a try on your vehicle repairs. My car died. I had to have it towed here to fix it. While speaking to Jesus over the phone, he informed me that they would have to run diagnostics on my vehicle. He quoted the diagnostics at $89 per hour plus tax & that it would take 3 to 4 hours??? I told him not to touch it for that much. I went down there after work & didn't appreciate the way they were talking to me like I was stupid. While waiting for them to move my car I made a comment to another employee about 3 to 4 hours for diagnostics to be a bit extreme. He laughed and asked who told me that. He proceeds to tell me (without looking at anything) that my motor probably seized and that's over $4000 so it wasn't worth messing with. I felt as if I was treated like a joke. They finally pushed my car straight out of the bay with little care hitting the curb and only 4 inches from another vehicle. So now one of the tires that hit the curb is flat. They made an already horrible situation a thousand times worse. read more

Long story short, don't go to Brakes Plus. They don't know how to properly diagnose your car& the issues you have. They over charge. Also, when you ask them to fix something that they fucked up they charge you more. Their prices are not cheap and their service sucks. I will never go to any of their stores again & neither will anyone I know. My experience was horrible. Oh! And it took them 5 hours just to do my front brakes. They also charged me $600 then realized they "over charged" me hahah their whole service was over charged. Came out to $400 mind you labor cost like half of the total cost. Their employees don't even know how to do their job. What a freakin joke. Don't ever go to the Brakes Plus on 35th n Union Hills. Or any location really. read more
